Victory in Massachusetts!

Massachusetts Legislature Advances Marriage Amendment

In December, the liberal Massachusetts legislature once again “punted” on dealing with the proposal to allow the citizens of Massachusetts to vote on the definition of marriage. Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney (R) intervened, asking the state’s Supreme Court to order the legislature back into session to act on the issue. Though the Massachusetts Supreme Court refused to order the legislature to act, it did severely scold the institution for failure to respond to the largest petition drive in Massachusetts history. As a result the legislature did vote last week to advance the amendment. The amendment proposal must receive the support of fifty legislators in the next session if the proposal is to make it onto the ballot in 2008.

• Pray that the Massachusetts legislature will once again vote in this upcoming session to allow a statewide referendum on the question of whether Massachusetts should allow gay marriage. Even in Massachusetts, polls indicate that a clear majority support the definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Ask the Lord to reverse the tide in Massachusetts. Pray that the citizens will indeed have the opportunity to vote to reject gay marriage in 2008. This would be an overwhelming defeat for pro-homosexual activists. Beseech the Lord, in His mercy, to intervene in this hour to save both the institution of marriage and our religious liberty. (Sons of Issachar)

• We are in agreement, Lord of Hosts, for the passage of a State Constitutional Amendment in Massachussets banning homosexual marriage. We ask that the bill to redefine marriage will be voted on by the citizens in 2008. We also agree and ask that the same amendment come forth in the state of New Jersey for their citizens to vote and rescind homosexual civil unions. In Your Name, Amen. • "Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding, but that which is in the midst of fools is made known." (Proverbs 14:33)
