1. Storms Ravage Midwest - Fox News-OKLAHOMA CITY

A.) More than 30 people were hurt and more than two dozen mobile homes and travel trailers were damaged as severe thunderstorms raked across Oklahoma on Wednesday, authorities said.

B) PARIS, Mo. - MSNBC

Storms with high winds struck northeastern Missouri early Thursday, killing two people in a mobile home, authorities said.

2. House Democrats Predicted to Fall Short in Votes to Overturn Veto of SCHIP- Fox News WASHINGTON

The math isn't adding up for House Democrats, who are unlikely to override President Bush's veto of the State Children's Health Insurance Program despite two weeks of cajoling lawmakers in both parties to switch their past votes against the bill.

· Lord we thank you for defeating this bill, and ask for wisdom and righteousness to come to our legislators.

· "Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence." (Psalm 140:13)

3. School Approves Birth Control Pills for 11- to 13-Year-Olds - CNSNews.com

King Middle School in Portland, Maine, plans to dispense birth control pills and patches to students between the ages of 11 and 13. The Portland School Committee voted 5-2 in favor of the controversial proposal Wednesday night.

B) A Maine First: Gay Adoption Legalized - CBN News

The gay agenda marches on and the judicial attack on family values continues with the Maine Supreme Court's ruling to honor same-sex adoptions.

· Lord we pray for a move of Your Holy Spirit in Maine, and across the nation from sea to sea and border to border. We ask for changed hearts and righteousness to prevail against the flood of sin.

4. Brownback to Drop Whitehouse Bid -MSNBC WASHINGTON

Republican Sam Brownback will drop out of the 2008 presidential campaign on Friday, people close to the Kansas senator said Thursday.

· Lord we pray Your peace for Senator Brownback. As this campaign progresses, we continue to ask that Your candidate will rise up and that You show Your people the person You have chosen.

· "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord; and he delighteth in His way." (Psalm 37:23)

5. Japan and China lead flight from the dollar - London Telegraph

Japan and China led a record withdrawal of foreign funds from the United States in August, heightening fears of a fresh slide in the dollar and a spike in US bond yields.

· Father we continue to ask for Your mercy over our economy.

Parliament on Wednesday overwhelmingly approved a possible cross-border offensive against Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq, although the government appears willing to give diplomatic pressure on the U.S.-backed Iraqi administration more time to work
