1. Change? Obama Picks Clinton Alum Emanuel WH Chief of Staff - AP

President-elect Barack Obama pivoted quickly to begin filling out his new administration on Wednesday, selecting hard-charging Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel as White House chief of staff while aides stepped up the pace of transition work that had been cloaked in pre-election secrecy.· Father we pray for wisdom for President-Elect Obama as he chooses a cabinet and staff. May You bring inroads of righteousness into his choices. If there be any hidden agendas in the choices that are not pleasing to You, may Your Spirit overcome them and wash them clean by the Blood of the Lamb.· "Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom." (Psalm 51:6)

3. Political Battle Underway Within GOP, Say Conservative Leaders - CNS News

Facing the most liberal president and Congress in a generation, conservative stalwarts do not blame the GOP's disastrous election performance solely on Republican nominee John McCain or on President George W. Bush. The ultimate culprit, some say, has been big government Republicanism.

· Lord, let the Republican party not dissolve into chaos, but let it be changed to bring righteous values rather than big government politics.

4. Democrats Ready to Act Fast on Car Aid, Regulation - Wall Street Journal

Congressional Democrats signaled plans to use their momentum from Tuesday's electoral victory to quickly pursue big plans to tackle economic woes, including doubling planned aid to U.S. auto makers and redrawing the regulation of financial companies.

· Lord as we enter a realm of more liberal control over Congress, we pray for Your wisdom to rule, rather than politics. Lord let knowledge and understanding reign rather than constant bailout and deeper debt.

· "Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established;" (Proverbs 24:3)

5. World Headlines:A) Chavez Eyes Venezuela's Largest Gold Mine - AP

Venezuela announced plans on Wednesday to take over the nation's largest gold mine, operated by Canada's Crystallex International Corp., as President Hugo Chavez gradually brings mining operations under state control.B) Putin May Return to Kremlin in 2009 - ReutersRussian President Dmitry Medvedev could resign from his post in 2009 to pave the way for Vladimir Putin to return to the Kremlin, Vedomosti newspaper reported on Thursday, citing an unidentified source close to the Kremlin. Medvedev Wednesday proposed increasing the presidential term to six years from four years, a step the newspaper said was part of a plan drawn up by Vladislav Surkov, who serves as Medvedev's first deputy chief of staff.

· Father, while America was focused on the election, these situations of expanding control have gone almost unnoticed around the world. Lord, as dictators move to grab more power, we pray that Your Spirit will restrain them. We pray for the people of Venezuela and Russia, that You will move across their nations to grant them freedom and salvation!

· "The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good." (Proverbs 15:3)
