The Daily Brief - Wednesday, June 3, 2009

"When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near." (Luke 21:28)

Today's Daily Brief

1. Obama declares June 'LGBT Pride Month' - OneNewsNow.com

In a presidential proclamation on the White House website, Barack Obama has lauded what he calls "the determination and dedication" of the LGBT movement by proclaiming June as "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month."

· Heavenly Father, as Obama panders to homosexual political activists and stamps this life-style with his approval, Pro-Family supporter, Peter LaBarbera maintains that "Homosexuality is nothing to be proud of "-- bottom line. The fact is people have left the lifestyle, and have overcome homosexuality [with God's help] -- I think that's something to be proud of....". Pray against the kind of confusion that this administration is purporting, "expanded rights for those who are confused about their sexual orientation" as LaBarbera has stated. Ask God to open this president's eyes to the true nature of his job. Intercede that the role model this president is projecting, in giving sodomy a thumbs up, will not invade the hearts, lives, and minds of America, especially it's youth. Pray that now, more than ever, the standard will be set in the home, and not in the misguided political agenda of this administration.

Also, as a holy remnant, ask forgiveness for our president because he truly does not know what he is doing. Pray protection over he, his wife, and their marriage. Pray that he come to know the true gospel and what it actually means. Pray for the people of this nation that they be able to discern right from wrong.

· Unless the Lord of hosts Had left to us a very small remnant, We would have become like Sodom, We would have been made like Gomorrah. (Isaiah 1:9)

2. Without Congressional Approval or Legislative Authority, Obama Plans for Government to Take Majority Interest in General Motors - CNSNews.com

Without the prior approval of Congress or any legislation authorizing the act, President Obama plans to announce on Monday that the federal government will take a 60-percent ownership stake in General Motors as part of a bankruptcy and reorganization plan for the company.

The White House on Sunday night announced that the plan will require the federal government to provide another $30 billion of taxpayer money to General Motors, on top of the $20 billion in aid the federal government already has given the company. In December, Congress failed to pass legislation authorizing a federal bailout of the auto industry. Lacking legislative authority-and despite the fact that Congress had specifically declined to approve a bailout of the auto industry-President Bush went ahead and provided General Motors and Chrysler with $17.4 billion in taxpayer money.

· Please pray about the "wake up call" this is to the American people at large. Ask the Father for His plan for congressional upset over this legislative "oversight". Please pray for the legislative, judicial, and executive branches of our government. Ask that nothing signed illegally at the top levels be binding in any way. Intercede for our government, from the top down, to do it's job, legally and ethically.

· He catches the wise in their own craftiness, and the schemes of the wily are brought to a quick end. (Job 5:13)

3. Consumer Spending, Not Stimulus, Made Economy Better in First Quarter - CNS News

The economy did better than expected in the first quarter of 2009, driven almost entirely by an unexpected upswing in consumer spending, according to new data released by the Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). These numbers indicate that the recession may have bottomed out even before much of the federal stimulus money is spent, according to analyst Bill Beach. The economy still shrank last quarter by 5.7 percent as investment, housing, exports, and manufacturing all declined. However, the government had originally forecast a 6.1 percent drop in GDP for the first quarter.

· As has been properly stated, just give the American people the money, instead of spending it on "pork", and we will straighten out the economy. Pray that government spending be curtailed as these results are published. Intercede for the people of this country, who, for the most part, would rather deal with a shaky economy themselves than put the generations to come at such sweltering and blistering risk.

· While evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it. (II Timothy 3:13-14)

4. Obama said to be open to taxing health benefits - Cross Action News

President Barack Obama is leaving the door open to taxing health care benefits, something he campaigned hard against while running for president. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., raised the issue with Obama during a private meeting Tuesday with the president and other Democratic senators and later reported the president's response: "It's on the table. It's an option."

The federal government would reap about $250 billion a year if it treated health care benefits given to employees like wages and taxed them.

· Father, the word audacity is taking on new meaning, as Mr. Obama finds new ways to tax the working American. Pray that this is shot down in it's infancy. Intercede that the administration even pull back from spending what it has taken in the "stimulus package". Ask the Lord to weed out widespread greed, and that out of control spending come to a halt. Pray for prudence and wisdom to show up on behalf of the American people.

· He that is greedy of gain troubles his own house; but he that hates gifts shall live. (Proverbs 15:27)

5. Chrysler's 'hit list' targets GOP donors - WorldNetDaily

As part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Chrysler is terminating one-fourth of its franchises - but some say its catalog of doomed dealerships looks more like a hit list that specifically seeks to put Republican donors out of #business.

Chrysler will now be eligible for up to $8 billion in taxpayer-funded federal aid. The federal government has already provided $8.58 billion to Chrysler and Chrysler Holding between the months of January and May of this year. The Treasury also loaned $1.5 billion to the automaker's lending arm in January. President Obama has said the bankruptcy will give the company "a new lease on life," after his administration spearheaded a plan requiring the company sell to Italian #automaker Fiat. Chrysler's stronger operations will be owned by Fiat, labor and the U.S. and Canadian governments. The sale could close as early as this Friday.

· Father, as news of dirty deals become more wide spread, we count on the effective prayer of righteous saints availing much, even over the deeds of men. Ask in prayer for the wisdom of God and the mercy of God to trump every hand of the enemy, even those which have already been played. Intercede that the Lord will make a short work of the partisan plots and schemes of any in leadership who would stand against hard working American people. Ask now that every form of sabotage or conspiracy against our jobs and our lives be exposed. Thank God that He alone is still our sufficiency in all things and specializes in impossibilities, remaining faithful to His promise when it comes to the needs of His people.

· If that wicked servant says to himself, 'My master is delayed,' and begins to beat his fellow servants and eats and drinks with drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know. (Matthew 24:48-50)

6. Obama Invites Iran to July 4th Parties - NewsMax.com

In a new overture to Iran, the Obama administration has authorized U.S. embassies around the world to invite Iranian officials to Independence Day parties they host on or around July 4.

A State Department cable sent to all U.S. embassies and consulates Friday said U.S. diplomats could ask their Iranian counterparts to attend the festivities, which generally feature speeches about American values, fireworks, and, of course, hot dogs and hamburgers.

The posts "may invite representatives from the government of Iran" to the events, a State Department official said Tuesday, quoting from the document. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss an internal communication.

· Pray that no U.S. embassy will risk the lives of American's for a political stunt. To allow officials of any country who threatens us and Israel to engage in American tradition and celebrations is unheard of. Please ask the Father for sanity to resume in this country. Cry out for this madness to stop so the American people will again feel safe on American soil around the globe.

· And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge says. And shall not God avenge His own elect, which cry day and night unto Him, though He bear long with them? I tell you He will avenge them speedily." (Luke 18:6-8a)

7. Obama Says Iran Has Right to Nuclear Power - News Max

LONDON -- President Barack Obama suggested that Iran may have some right to nuclear energy - provided it proves by the end of the year that its aspirations are peaceful.

In a BBC interview broadcast Tuesday, he also restated plans to pursue direct diplomacy with Tehran to encourage it set aside any ambitions for nuclear weapons it might harbor. Iran has insisted its nuclear program is aimed at generating electricity. But the U.S. and other Western governments accuse Tehran of seeking atomic weapons.

"What I do believe is that Iran has legitimate energy concerns, legitimate aspirations," Obama said, adding that the international community also "has a very real interest" in preventing a nuclear arms race.

· Father, as the President of Iran has threatened it's neighbors, lauding it's "rights" and determination to destroy Israel multiple times, we ask that strategic and full-proof methods be used in addressing nuclear power for them. Pray that any deceitful maneuvers will show up early and be found out. Pray that the "misapprehensions" that Mr. Obama feels the Iranians have with the West are put to rest, and that they are allowed to come to one conclusion; that we will not tolerate threats or terror against Israel, the United States, or any of our other allies.

· By these letters the king permitted the Jews who were in every city to gather together and protect their lives. (Esther 8:11a)
