The Daily Brief - Wednesday, September 9, 2009

"When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him." (Isaiah 59:19)

The Daily Brief

1. Obama Seeks Game-Changer With Health Speech - AP

In a high-stakes speech to Congress and the nation, President Obama will press for a government-run insurance option in a proposed overhaul of the health care system.

- Father, we ask Your guidance over the entire health care system that is in the process of being changed. We pray for Your will to reign supreme over all the reasoning and calculations of man. Let all deception be brought to light and the hidden ramifications of this "new" change be revealed and circumvented. In Jesus Name.

- "But exhort one another daily, while it is called Today; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin." (Hebrews 3:13)

2. Administration's Suggestions for Teachers: Read Books about Obama, Post Obama Quotes on Classroom Walls - CNS News

The "corrected" lesson plans the U.S. Department of Education is suggesting that schools around the country use to turn President Obama's speech to students today into a "teachable moment" still call for teachers to read books about Obama and to post quotations from Obama in large print on classroom walls.

- Father, we plead Your mercy upon every person involved in the educational system of the United States. We ask that the minds and hearts of the students and teachers be covered by the blood of Jesus Christ, that idolatry of man not gain root nor be accepted as truth. In Jesus Name.

- "Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you." (2 Thessalonians 1:6)

3. CDC Predicts Increase in H1N1 Flu as More Schools Open - Fox News

Cases of H1N1 flu seem to be tapering off at schools like Washington State University, where it is suspected of sickening more than 2,000 students, but health officials say the nation needs to remain on high alert for breakouts of the virus.

- Father, may Your hand of protection and healing be extended over all the schools and faculty and students. May the H1N1 flu be stopped and dissipated by Your mighty acts of mercy and power.

- "And Jesus went about healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people." (Matthew 4:23)

4. States: We can't afford costs tied to $5B emergency fund - USA Today

Many states are walking away from a $5 billion federal fund that some economists say is a swift and effective way to help people hurt by the recession and stimulate the economy.

- Lord, many of the states cannot tap into the fund for needy families because they cannot afford to put up the 20% of costs required by the federal government. We ask for divine guidance for all 50 States in our nation to be protected from undue financial burdens, and may many innovative programs be established to care for the needy so that no one goes uncared for.

- "He has dispersed abroad; he has given to the poor; his righteousness remains forever." ( 2 Corinthians 9:9)

5. U.S. falls out of top spot in global competitiveness poll - USA Today

The United States has lost its place as the world's most competitive economy, according to a survey released Wednesday, falling behind Switzerland mainly because of the financial crisis and accumulated fiscal deficits.

- Father, our country has suffered loss because of untoward sins that lie unconfessed to Almighty God. When America repents, America will once again rise to the top. We ask You, Lord, that You speak to the hearts of our nation to turn back to You and walk in righteousness.

- "That you may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom you shine as lights in the world." (Philippians 2:15)

6. Mexican Airplane Hijacked; All Now Reported Safe - AP

A Mexican passenger jet was hijacked Wednesday from an airport in the resort city of Cancun on Wednesday and flown to Mexico City, where the passengers and crew members were released shortly afterward.

As many as eight men have been detained, according to a U.S. official. There were 112 people aboard the plane, including Mexicans, Americans and French, the official told Reuters.

The hijacked AeroMexico plane, a Boeing 737, landed safely and was met by Mexican security forces on the runway.

- Offer praise for the apparent "happy ending" to this story. As we approach the anniversary of 9/11, pray that all authorities remain alert to any "signals" terrorists may be releasing . . . leading to more attacks. Pray!

- "Be on the alert; stand firm in the faith; act like men; be strong. Let all that you do be done in love." (I Corin. 16:13,14)

The Daily Jot

That We Might Not Perish As A Nation

Prophecy suggests that the Lord will "make Jerusalem a burdensome stone and all who burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces." (Zechariah 12:3) Up until the last several presidencies of the United State, America has been the staunch ally of Israel, receiving the blessings of God's promise in Genesis 12:3, "And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curses thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed." But Presidents Jimmy Carter, George HW Bush, Bill Clinton, George W Bush and the man who now occupies the Oval Office have steadily diminished our nation's support of Israel.

We have seen terrorists such as Yassir Arafat visiting the White House as honored guests; we have seen tremendous pressure placed on Israel to make peace with hostile terrorists who have bombed and killed innocent men, women and children in Israel; we have witnessed a president forcing Israel to abandon Gaza where terrorists established a state presence and used it to attack Israeli citizens; and we are seeing a president now demanding the establishment of a Palestinian state that cuts the nation of Israel into two parts. The pressure by the United States applied to the sovereign nation of Israel to acquiesce to terrorist demands is incredible.

And each time these presidents have applied such pressure for Israel to divide its land, there have been disasters happen to the United States--Carter's economy was double-digit inflation and unemployment; Bush '41 had recessions; Clinton had a White House scandal; Bush 43 faced terrorist attacks on American soil and natural disasters; and the current White House is amidst the worst economic problems ever faced by this nation. The only president since Carter who had economic prosperity and relative peace was Ronald Reagan, a staunch supporter of the sovereignty of Israel and a man who said he would never support a Palestinian state on the borders of Israel.

This current administration has elevated Islam and the United States has become more assertive than ever before in Israeli policy--to the point that the man who occupies the Oval Office is telling Israel where and when it can build apartment buildings in the Holy City of Jerusalem. To many, this is a small thing. But to the discerning eye, it is a type and shadow of the antiChrist spirit that will someday rule over Jerusalem as the false messiah. That America would help pave the way for such an abomination will surely bring great judgment unto our people. The men and women of God in this country must pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for a change of heart at the White House that we may not perish as a nation.

Stimulus Report Card

Stimulus Report Card Gets a Failing Grade

[Editorial note: This article was published last Friday, September 4, by the Family Research Council.)

Yesterday, (Sept. 3) on the 200th day since its enactment, Vice President Joe Biden defended the President's $787 billion economic "stimulus." First, he said it was "to bring relief to those hardest hit by the recession." But an analysis by ProPublica found that there's "no relationship between where the money is going and unemployment and poverty." The Associated Press reports that distribution of the funds was guided more by politics than need. The New York Times adds that the "transparency" promised by President Obama is practically nonexistent, with most federal agencies failing to report lobbying contacts. Biden's next standard was "to jump-start the economy by giving assistance to states."

On the day the "stimulus" was enacted, the national unemployment rate was 7.6 percent--today it is 9.7 percent. At least 16 states have unemployment rates of over 10 percent. Joe Biden's final measure was "to reinvest in existing infrastructure and lay a platform for the economic growth in future in energy, education and health care." The spending "targets" read more like a rap sheet than an investment in the future. Funds went to "bail out" such things as shows about perverts and to run porn films, courtesy of Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D- Calif.). Other funds potentially went to house sex offenders and predators in Florida and the mob in the New York City area. Vice President Biden might see the stimulus bill as a success, but by his own standards it has been a very expensive failed experiment.

News from Israel

Israel Keeping Watch on Northern Border

Israel is keeping close watch on Hizbullah's activities in Lebanon. A wide-scale exercise of the Israel Defense Force's (IDF's) field intelligence unit, Shahaf, was completed on September 2 in the Northern Command.

"Below the surface, there is extensive activity whose goal, quite clearly, is to prepare for the day of visitation," said Shahaf Commander Lt. Col. Motti of military actions in Lebanon. "We are likely to take a hit, but even if we don't manage to thwart every event, we will be able to inflict a price. This is why we are strenuously preparing a 'target bank.' When the need arises, we'll know how to take action against them."

Four days of walking with a heavy load on their backs, settling into undetectable positions, locating a quality target deep in Lebanese territory, closing in, firing and destroying. This is what the Shahaf exercise consisted of. From this week on, the field reconnaissance corps becomes an intelligence collection corps. This is the first exercise in which the full capabilities of the soldiers, who mostly remain anonymous, are coming to fruition.

"From their first day in the field until their release, these soldiers are in the same territorial area and are well- acquainted with Hizbullah, its activities, the differences between villages, and know how to notice any unusual incident," explained the regiment commander.

The soldiers regularly build a profile of the enemy. During war, they carry out operations deep in enemy territory. According to him, "We must exercise a lot of creativity in our actions, to reach a surprising angle with surprising timing, and to use means to destroy targets."

The exercise simulated intense warfare. The soldiers were loaded onto helicopters on their way to "the battle zone" and carried out complex movements and challenges. During the exercise, soldiers acted out the role of civilian Hizbullah fighters who fire "rockets" into Israeli territory.

The extensive exercise is part of a broad series of IDF exercises, including ground and naval forces. The quiet on the northern front could be broken at any moment, according to IDF estimates, be it by an incident on the border or a terrorist attack somewhere else in the world.

DISPLAY OUR FLAG ON 9/11!

On Friday, September 11th, 2009, an American flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States . Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this eighth anniversary of one of our country's worst tragedies. We do this to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.

In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to- shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds.

SHARE THIS IDEA WITH ALL YOUR FRIENDS, TOO!

Thank you for your participation. God Bless You and God Bless America !

"Loving Muslims Through Prayer"
Fatimah, Mohammed's Daughter

Fatimah was apparently a good influence, but her name is also associated with an occult object that has fairly negative infleunce in the Muslim world. This so- called "Hand of Fatimah" is used by Muslims in amulets, charms and jewelry to ward off evil spiritual influences.

Prayer Starters:

- Pray according to Acts 19:18-20 concerning occult influences.

- Pray for the millions of Muslim women named Fatimah to find new life in Jesus.
