The Daily Brief - Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009

"And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven . . ." (Luke 21:11)

The Daily Brief

1. Bulletin! Quakes Spark Pacific Tsunami Alert - AP

Tsunami warning issued for 11 nations, territories after 7.8 and 7.3 magnitude earthquakes hit Pacific Rim.

- Pray NOW for the safety of all who are in the paths of a suspected tsunami, and For quick relief to reach the victims of these two powerful quakes. Pray!

- "You have made the land quake, You have split it open; Heal its breaches, for it totters." (Psalm 60:2)

2. Court hears arguments about cross on park land - AP

The Supreme Court is taking up a long-running legal fight over a cross honoring World War I soldiers that has stood for 75 years on public land in a remote part of California.

- God, You see the wicked plotting and planning to annihilate everything that represents the godly principles upon which the United States of America was founded. Lord, let no man succeed in removing this landmark nor any other landmark that represents You, the Lord God over America. In Jesus Name.

- "For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but THE LORD shall arise upon the United States, and His glory shall be seen upon our country." (Isaiah 60:2)

3. U.S. to overhaul immigration system - Philadelphia Enquirer

The Obama administration will review the procedures under which the United States detains about 380,000 illegal immigrants a year, exploring the use of converted hotels and nursing homes as it seeks to transform a prison-based system into one tiered according to the risk posed by individual detainees, officials said yesterday.

- Father, the plans of man become very convoluted when its basic intent makes for national weakness. To place these illegal immigrants in the United States into converted hotels and nursing homes would be a reproach to our nation. God we plead for Your intervention and ask that You put up a wall that this so called "procedure" cannot go through. In Jesus Name.

- "For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride; and for cursing and lying which they speak." (Psalm 59:12)

4. EU draws up plans to establish itself as 'world power' - London Telegraph

The European Union has drawn up secret plans to establish itself as a global power in its own right with the authority to sign international agreements on behalf of member states.

- Father, we ask that any centralized control and power of the European Union be held in absolute abeyance until You Father, as the Lord God over all the affairs of men, see that the time of the end has come. We ask You to break up all their insidious control and influence over all nations and their leaders. Let not one ambition join with another in unity. All these powers are under God's control. God who sees from heaven will limit earthly powers until everything falls in line with God's timetable. We ask all this in the Name of Jesus.

- "The voice of the Lord divides and controls the flames of fire. The Lord sits upon the flood; yea, the Lord sits King forever." (Psalm 29:7, 10)

5. Nations Cast Plan for Expanded IMF - Washington Post

The push to reinvent the International Monetary Fund took a significant step forward this week, with nations agreeing to a rough timetable to come up with plans to reform its governance and expand its role in the global economy.

- Father, we ask that You take over the International Monetary Fund and push back its reinventing so that all things be brought into alignment with God's perfect timetable. Lord, the Badges of Importance worn by so- called men and women of worldly power appear to give off signals that they are tainted and have shallow significance in the eyes of God. And what God does not instigate shall fall into eternal ruin. We ask You, Lord, to smite them with Your hand, and stamp with Your foot all the evil abominations of their imagination. Bring them to repentance before they hopelessly fall. In Jesus Name.

- "The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine, says the Lord of hosts." (Haggai 2:8)

6. Central bankers deny plot to overthrow the dollar - Deutche Welle

The US dollar has taken another hit after a British newspaper reported that Arab states are involved in secret plans to stop using it as the currency for oil deals. Is it another nail in the dollar's coffin?

- Father, block all the secret plans of the Arab states who would promote the downfall of the United States through their oil deals. We lean completely upon Your power to pick up the US dollar and hold it in Your hands and keep its value strong so our economy will stay strong. Give the people of the United States wisdom to find out knowledge of witty inventions. Give those who serve our God riches and honor, yea durable riches and righteousness. Oversee all our monetary system, Lord, and push back our enemies who want to rob, steal and destroy us. In Jesus Name.

- "As the whirlwind passes, so is the wicked no more, but the righteous is an everlasting foundation." (Proverbs 10:25)

7. Iran will be hard to stop from getting a nuclear bomb, says former weapons inspector - Deutche Welle

Tehran is making significant progress in developing its nuclear capabilities and could be very difficult to stop, Rolf Ekeus, the former chief UN weapons inspector on Iraq tells DW in an interview.

- Father, all the nuclear capabilities of men are in the hands of our holy God and can be stopped instantly and fall into ruin as You see fit. Lord, let no evil assume power that is not in Your plans and purposes. We ask that You limit their progress, limit their abilities, limit the destructive material with which they make weapons of mass destruction and always let there be lack of what they need. Everything is governed by Your Word and nothing can usurp what You have written. You are Lord over all the works of men. In Jesus Name.

- "The Lord is high above all nations, and His glory above the heavens. Who is like unto the Lord our God, who dwells on high." (Psalm 113:4-5)

8. Is the U.S. Preparing to Bomb Iran? - ABC News

Is the U.S. stepping up preparations for a possible attack on Iran's nuclear facilities? The Pentagon is always making plans, but based on a little-noticed funding request recently sent to Congress, the answer to that question appears to be yes.

- Father, may the United States military rise up with the sword of the Lord in their hands to protect our country and Israel that there be no loss of life and that our enemies not triumph over us. Guide our military in Your wisdom and give them keen discernment to see into our enemies' camps, to see with the eyes of the Lord. May they be armed and ready with keen and perceptive capabilities to face off all weapons formed against us and strengthen them by the mighty hand of God. In Jesus Name.

- "The Lord is a Man of war; the Lord is His Name. Your right hand, O Lord, is become glorious in power; Your right hand, O Lord, has dashed in pieces our enemies. Fear and dread shall fall upon our enemies; by the greatness of Your arm they shall be as still as a stone." (Exodus 15:3, 6, 16)

Recent violence in the capital and the ongoing tensions surrounding the Temple Mount could trigger a third intifada, senior Fatah official Hatem Abdel Kader warned in a conversation with The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday.

The Daily Jot

The Company of Evildoers and the Shadow of Judgment

The man who occupies the Oval Office appears to have taken a policy course to destroy the United States by giving in to its enemies. He has scuttled an agreement to deploy defensive missile systems with Poland and the Czech Republic to appease Russia. He will not meet with the Dalai Lama to please China. In his landmark Cairo speech, He tried to revise history to give Islam a better self-esteem about its murderous and sordid past. He has appeased dictators in Cuba and Venezuela by demanding that the ousted self- proclaimed president for life in Honduras be immediately restored. And he has appeased Europe by yielding US economic sovereignty to the International Monetary Fund.

The results of these inimical foreign policy strategies are alarming. Russia and China continue to arm Islamic terrorists with weapons, technology and assistance. Venezuela is entering into nuclear agreements with Russia. And Russia, China and the Islamic world are demanding the dollar be replaced with another world currency. Their vassal in the Middle East, Iran, is on the verge of having nuclear weapons. Islam continues to press for the destruction of America as evidenced by the numerous recent arrests of terrorist plotting to blow up public transportation and financial centers, and the death toll in Afghanistan. No wonder Libya's Moammar Gadhafi thinks Obama should be president for life.

But domestic policy is not any better. This White House has scuttled the Constitution by taking over the financial and automobile industries. It intends to completely do away with private enterprise by establishing socialized medicine complete with tax payer funded abortions, programs that support and promote homosexuality, programs that require senior citizens to receive "end of life"counseling every five years, a tribunal that will decide who receives what type of treatment and will garnish the wages of taxpayers or even put them in jail if they do not participate in this unconstitutional scheme. No wonder Cuba's Fidel Castro thinks Obama should be president for life.

America lost its moral bearing long before this current White House took office. But this administration's penchant to side with the evildoers will ultimately bring upon Americans an unintended result. Because of its reverence for God, America has been traditionally blessed as a nation. But in Jeremiah 6:25, the Lord says of such a country, "Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withheld good things from you." In verse 17, the Lord says, "Also I set watchmen over you, saying 'Hearken to the sound of the trumpet.' But they said, 'We will not hearken.'" We must stand strong in Christ as the shadow of judgment lengthens.

Democrats Declare War - On McChrystal

General Stanley McChrystal has become the latest victim of the Left's totalitarian instinct to silence debate and destroy dissenters. McChrystal was "Obama's general" - handpicked by the new president to develop a fresh strategy in Afghanistan. Proving yet again that no good deed goes unpunished in Washington, the general took his command, made his recommendation and is now being thrashed by congressional Democrats and Obama appointees. As today's Wall Street Journal put it, "Democrats have found someone worth fighting in Afghanistan. His name is Stan McChrystal."

Much of the criticism centers on the notion that the general spoke out of turn. He gave a speech in London last week in which he warned that the West needed to renew its commitment to defeating the Taliban (send reinforcements) or we risked "Chaos-istan." In his statements, the general also took issue with a plan favored by Vice President Biden that calls for fewer troops, not more. Perhaps you saw this recent headline: "Obama 'Furious' Over McChrystal's London Speech."
In the days since that speech, General McChrystal has been publicly rebuked by National Security Advisor Jim Jones, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Defense Secretary Robert Gates. Some Democrats on Capitol Hill are reportedly referring to McChrystal now as "General MacArthur," suggesting that Obama ought to follow Harry Truman's example by firing his top general. But the Journal reports that McChrystal's speech "was scheduled and approved by the Pentagon weeks before the Afghan political jitters seized official Washington."

This kind of cynical treatment is devastating to morale, but we have seen it before from this administration. For example, this president went to CIA headquarters in April to reassure our agents that he supported them. Weeks later, his Justice Department launched an investigation of CIA tactics that have helped keep us safe.

As I suggested yesterday, the moment of truth is at hand and the president's core values are being exposed. Barack Obama and Joe Biden were among the Senate's most vocal critics of President Bush's 2007 troop surge in Iraq. Today they occupy the Oval Office. And while our generals are requesting reinforcements, Democrats in Washington are preoccupied with "reforming" healthcare. (Gary Bauer; End-of-Day; Oct. 7, 2009)

Final Hate Crimes vote likely this week!

Now is the time to take a stand against a clear and present danger to our first amendment freedoms of speech and religion - Hate Crimes legislation. We have confirmation that a vote on Hate Crimes may happen this week, probably on Thursday. As you know, Hate Crimes legislation passed the U.S. House (HR. 1913) and an amendment (S. 909) to a Defense Appropriations Bill passed in the U.S. Senate. However, the differences between the two versions mandate that the matter go to conference committee for harmonization. Now Congress is poised to take a final vote. If approved, President Obama will sign this dangerous legislation into law.

Here's why it matters: If passed, this Hate Crimes law will eventually result in efforts to silence pastors like you, churches like yours, and other faith-based organizations you agree with just because we publicly but peacefully oppose homosexuality on biblical grounds.

- Knowing that it is written that the Word of God does not return void (Isaiah 55:11), join us in making THIS DECREE over this bill:

- "Thus far you shall come and no further, and here shall your proud waves be stopped." (Job 38:11) "And they overcame him through the Blood of the Lamb, and the Word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto death." (Rev. 12:11)

Victory for Jesus Prayers

Lodi, CA, Votes 5-0 to Defeat Atheist Complainers

The Lodi City Council voted 5-0 on Wed., Sept. 30, to allow pastors to speak the previously forbidden words "in Jesus name" at the end of public prayers. The victory vote came after months of lobbying, petitioning, protesting, and pro-Jesus rallies, both in Lodi and nationwide, organized by The Pray In Jesus Name Project.

An atheist group from Wisconsin has threatened a lawsuit if the city allows Jesus prayers, but the Mayor and four other councilors found their back-bone, and handed the atheists a resounding defeat.

This month four California cities, Tehachapi, Tracy, Turlock, and now Lodi have all heroically voted unanimously to allow free speech and public prayers "in Jesus name," even under threat of lawsuit.
"This victory should inspire legislators across America, that 85% of polled voters want you to allow public prayers 'in Jesus name,' even in public venues," said Chaplain Klingenschmitt. "Don't cave-in to empty threats of lawsuits by atheist complainers. Christian voters will rally to support you, and Jesus is not an illegal word!" (Christian Newswire).
