The Daily Brief - Wednesday, November 18, 2009

"Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." (Psalm 119:105)

Today's Daily Brief

1. Ft. Hood Terrorist was Advisor to Obama Administration - Fox News

Since the terrorist attack at Ft. Hood, Texas on Thursday, Nov. 5, FOX News has discovered and reported that the U.S. Army Major Dr. Nidal Malik Hassan (American Army Officer of Muslim descent) who slaughtered over a dozen US ARMY soldiers and seriously wounded 40 US ARMY soldiers was an advisor to the Obama Administration concerning Muslim appointments to Homeland Security.

Read more, see page 29.

- Father, now is the time for America to repent of its sins and fall upon the Lord Jehovah to save us. God, these appointees are bent on destroying America and attempting to bring change to who we really are, a people whose foundation is the Lord. But when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord raises up a standard against him. So we cry out to our God, save America. In Jesus Name.

- "God will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You; because he trusts in You. Trust you in the Lord forever; for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength." (Isaiah 26:3-4)

2. California gay marriage campaign kicks off - Reuters

Gay marriage advocates on Monday launched a campaign to try to overturn California's same-sex marriage ban, hoping to become the first U.S. state to convince voters to approve gay people's right to wed.

- Father, this way of life promotes unnatural affection and Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by God for having this lifestyle. So, Lord, we ask that you protect these people from themselves, open their eyes to see the error of their ways. We plead for Your intervention. In Jesus Name.

- "Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, were giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire." (Jude 7)

3. Gay Couples Blast Federal Defense of Marriage Act - NewsMax

Gay married couples suing the government over a federal law that doesn't recognize same-sex unions say there is "no legitimate or plausible" reason for having a federal definition of marriage that excludes gay couples.

- Father, it is the law of God that gives the "legitimate or plausible" reason for excluding marriage among gay couples. Therefore, we pray they repent and turn to God, or else it is God who will give them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves, who have changed the truth of God into a lie. We plead for mercy. In Jesus Name.

- "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was due." (Romans 1:26-27)

4. Dems eye stock trade tax - The Hill

House Democratic leaders are considering imposing a new tax on stock transactions to fund a jobs bill, leadership sources tell The Hill.

- Father, this is deception mixed with a hidden agenda filled with lies to further attempt to destroy America by hitting hard at our financial stability. God, by Your power, we plead with You to pull out and defeat any and all evil imaginations in the minds of our enemy who work against our country. Father, we ask that you strengthen, establish and protect our economy, our security, our jobs and our investments with the blood of Jesus. In Jesus Name.

- "Show Your marvelous loving-kindness, O God that saves by Your right hand them which put their trust in You from those that rise up against them." (Psalm 17:7)

5. Second Stimulus? Dems Promise Jobs Bill - Fox News

House Democrats are looking at swelling deficits further, at least temporarily, on a jobs-producing bill in response to double-digit unemployment and a sense within their ranks that the party needs to do more to put people back to work.

- Father, we ask that all worldly powers be removed that would strip more jobs from the American people. Destroy their bills that are deceptive and cannot produce jobs. They take away our jobs and then want to produce a bill that would put people back to work. Lord, take over our government and our economy. Bring security back to our nation. In Jesus Name.

- "Lo, you trust in the staff of this broken reed, on the government, whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it." (Isaiah 36:5)

6. Gov't Wastes $98B in Taxpayer Dollars in 2009 - Fox News

More than $98 billion in taxpayer dollars spent by government agencies was wasted, much of it on questionable claims for tax credits and Medicare benefits, representing an increase of $26 billion from the previous year.

- Father, we plead for mercy. We plead for Your intervention. You see from heaven all this waste and robbery of our tax dollars that has been squandered by this government. Oh God, bind all powers that rob us under the blood of Jesus. Restrict, remove and restrain their control. God help us. Stand with Your people and save us. In Jesus Name.

- "If my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." ( 2 Chronicles 7:14)

7. Sex infections still growing in U.S., says CDC - Reuters

American squeamishness about talking about sex has helped keep common sexually transmitted infections far too common, especially among vulnerable teens, U.S. researchers reported Monday.

- God, You have given to us a holy standard which protects people everywhere from suffering from sexually transmitted infections. It is called "abstinence." Your design and protection is to wait until marriage. But when it is casually treated before marriage, there is a hard consequence in disobeying the Word of the Lord. You have said we are to flee youthful lusts. So let us promote God's law. In Jesus Name.

- "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust thereof; but he that does the will of God abides forever." (I John 2:16-17)

The Middle East in Focus

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

" For ever, O LORD, Your Word is settled in heaven." (Psalm 119:89)

1. Despite US pressure, Gilo to be expanded - Ynet News

American pressure against construction in east Jerusalem continues to mount, but Israel shows no signs of folding. On the backdrop of the new American demand to freeze construction in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Gilo, the regional committee for planning and construction on Tuesday approved a motion to expand Gilo and south Jerusalem and build 900 new housing units in the neighborhood.

2. Erekat denies PA plans to declare state unilaterally - Jerusalem Post

The Palestinians will not unilaterally declare an independent state, but rather seek a UN Security Council resolution endorsing a two-state solution along the pre-1967 lines, Palestinian Authority negotiator Saeb Erekat told The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday.

3. Israel insists there is no crisis with US - Ynet News

Although Israel has been insisting for quite a while that there is no crisis in its relations with the United States, state officials were surprised Tuesday by the harsh American response to the approval of 900 new housing units in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Gilo.

4. Palestinians, UK blast Israeli Jerusalem building plan - Ynet News

Israeli officials on Tuesday deposited a plan to build 900 more housing units in a Jewish neighborhood in the part of Jerusalem claimed by Palestinians, drawing criticism from the Palestinians and Britain.

5. US: Time 'very short' for Iran on nuclear deal - Ynet News

Iran faces a "very short" window to submit its formal response to a UN-brokered deal meant to allay suspicions that it seeks to develop nuclear weapons, the US State Department said on Tuesday.

- God, we ask that you bind the forces of darkness that would develop nuclear weapons that could bring mass destruction upon many people. Let no lies of concession come out of Iran. Put out Your hand against any and all false claims that may come forth. Stand against deception, Lord, by the blood of Jesus. We ask that You reveal everything that is hidden with all its magnitude. Expose it for all the world to see, O God. In Jesus Name.

- "The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them." (Proverbs 12:6)

6. Obama criticizes new Israeli move on settlements - AP

President Barack Obama says Israel's latest move to build hundreds of new apartments in a neighborhood claimed by the Palestinians complicates administration efforts to relaunch peace talks and embitters the Palestinians. Obama told Fox News in an interview Wednesday that additional settlement building doesn't make Israel safer. He said such moves make it harder to achieve peace in the region, and embitters the Palestinians in a way that he said could be very dangerous.

Health Care Conference Call

Conference Call with Sen. Sam Brownback on Healthcare
Thursday, November 19th, 2009 - 2:30 p.m. EST

The U.S. House passed healthcare reform, but with your help we were also able to get an amendment (Stupak, Pitts, et al.) passed that stripped abortion funding from the plan. However, now the battle moves to the Senate, and there is a determined effort to strip the pro-life amendment passed in the House and mandate that federal dollars will pay for abortions and support abortion providers.

I want to encourage you to join us on a Conference Call tomorrow, Thursday, November 19, at 2:30 PM (EST) with Tony Perkins and Senator Sam Brownback for the latest on the Healthcare debate. Here's the call-in info: 1-866-939-8416 and enter code: 102623##. The call will last for about 30 minutes.

Encourage your church members to contact their U.S. Senators and urge them to VOTE YES for a Stupak-Pitts type amendment that will exclude the funding of abortions and abortion providers from the healthcare bill.

Your Senators can be reached by calling the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 or visit www.FRC.org and click on Contact Officials. Respectfully let your Senators know how you feel about taxpayer funded abortion in the proposed Senate healthcare plan.

And please forward this message to your pastor friends. We won a battle for unborn life in the House, but now is not the time to let up. It is absolutely imperative that our Senators hear from the Christian community if we hope to make a difference.

Bad News for D.C. Voters

Washington D.C. refuses citizen vote on gay marriage

A measure to let voters decide whether to ban same- sex marriages in D.C. cannot go on the ballot because it would violate a city human rights law, the Board of Elections and Ethics ruled Tuesday.

The D.C. City Council is expected to approve homosexual marriage next month, but opponents wanted voters to weigh in.

The elections board said allowing residents to vote on a ban would conflict with the city's 1977 Human Rights Act, which prohibits discrimination.

A group called Stand4MarriageDC wanted a ballot measure that said "only marriage between a man and woman" should be "valid or recognized" in the city. The group's head is Bishop Harry Jackson, a Maryland church pastor who has been vocal in opposing the same-sex marriage law.

Cleta Mitchell, an attorney for the group, said members would appeal the ruling in D.C. Superior Court, likely within the week. She said the ruling was not a surprise and the measure does not violate the city's human rights act. She said the board made a mistake.

If the D.C. Council has the right to "change the law in order for same-same sex couples to marry," she said, "the people have the same rights ... to make law on the same subject."

- Lift up Bishop Harry Jackson, Rev. Pierre Bynum, and other area leaders in prayer, asking our Lord to strengthen their hands as they work to turn the battle at the gates. May they not become weary in well-doing, and may they find favor when this issue is brought before a higher court. In the end, the High Court of heaven WILL rule in the affairs of man. Amen.

- "Then I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning; after that you will be called teh city of righteousness, a faithful city." (Isaiah 1:26 NAS)

Citizen Osama?!

There were fireworks on Capitol Hill today as Attorney General Eric Holder defended the administration's decision to grant the 9/11 plotters the same constitutional protections afforded to American citizens. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) cut to the chase when he pressed Holder on whether the administration would read Osama bin Laden his Miranda rights if he were captured. Holder would not answer the question. That tells us all we need to know about this administration's pre-9/11 mindset. You can watch the exchange here. (Gary Bauer; End-of-Day; Nov. 18, 2009)
