The Daily Brief - Friday, February 12, 2010

2. After Rare Bipartisan Deal, Reid Slashes Jobs Bill - Fox News

Faced with criticism that the Democratic-sponsored jobs bill would not primarily create new jobs, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid abruptly announced Thursday that he had drastically slimmed down the bill from $85 billion to just $15 billion, tossing out key priorities of both Republicans and Democrats.

- Even though the federal government was shut down until today by the snow, the political maneuvering on Capitol Hill never ends. Continue to pray for "all in authority" as they struggle to create jobs for the American people. May each member call upon the Power greater than themselves for wisdom, and not take matters into their own hands. Pray!

- . . if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

4. FBI Knows Where You Are, Thanks to Your Phone - AP

A federal appeals court Friday debated a privacy issue you probably hadn't considered: the government's ability to track your location at any time, if you carry a cell phone.

- Ask the Father to give the FBI wisdom to gather intelligence without infringing on the rights of American citizens. Please pray the big prayer of an answer to the balance we need in this country to have privacy and still be protected, for our God is a big God and His wisdom is to be cherished and adhered to for this purpose.

- Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you. Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. (Proverbs 4:6-7)

News from Iran

1. Iran Launches Brutal Crackdown to Stop Mass Demonstrations - NewsMax

Iranian authorities have rounded up alleged opposition activists ahead of celebrations Thursday to mark the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution when anti-government groups have called for protests, the country's top police official said.

- Please pray that the United States and this current administration will stand in solidarity with the citizens of Iran who are risking their very lives, desiring freedom at all cost. Intercede for movement in the stalemate posture that the world has taken when it comes to these brave, unwavering protesters.

- In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord; My hand was stretched out in the night without ceasing; My soul refused to be comforted. (Psalm 77:2)

2. Iranian security forces, protesters clash on revolution anniversary - CNN

Coming through on a promise to crack down on protesters on the 31st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, Iran's security forces clashed with demonstrators Thursday, as hundreds of thousands filled a "disruption-free" Tehran square to hear their president announce the expansion of Iran's nuclear program.

- As the voice of freedom keeps crying out, ask the Lord to move to favor the people of Iran for their integrity and tenacity, even in the face of isolation, various forms of abuse, and potential loss of life. Intercede that their voices be heard over all other voices and not be silenced by the terror tactics of these government leaders.

- And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the Lord heeded the voice of a man; for the Lord fought for Israel. (Joshua 10:14)

3. 'Iran hacking into broadcasts of at least 3 major news outlets' - Ha'aretz

At least three major international media outlets have accused Tehran of interfering with their broadcasting, while cracking down on foreign programs aired in the Islamic Republic.

- Intercede that the rights of every individual not be squelched by tyrants anywhere.

- Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues, For I have seen violence and strife in the city. (Psalm 55:9)

4. Iran celebrates 1979 Islamic Revolution Anniversary under media ban - Reuters

The Iranian government said it will permanently suspend Google Inc's email service in the country, the Wall Street Journal reported on its website on Wednesday. The report comes as Iran braces for new opposition protests on Thursday during rallies marking the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Protesters made use of modern networking tools such as Twitter and Gmail instant messaging last June after a disputed election plunged Iran into crisis.

5. Iran revolution failed, sanctions are West's only hope - Ha'aretz

The reports coming out of Iran on Thursday, through a heavy layer of censorship, suggest that the regime has managed to survive the important test of the Islamic revolution's 31st anniversary. Millions may have taken to the streets, but most of them were supporters of the regime, while thousands of security personnel were used to violently suppress opposition demonstrations.

- Please pray that in this grid-lock with all the political staging the Lord would prevail in helping the US to make wise and effective decisions about how much we will continue to put up with from the mouth of the realinfidel. This murdering and kidnapping by Iran of their own countrymen, while they harass and chide the world, should clearly be a thing of the past by now.

- In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. (I John 3:10)

6. Iran atomic chief: Tehran to initiate 2 new nuclear sites this year - Ha'aretz

Iran will start building two new nuclear enrichment sites in the upcoming years, the Islamic Republic's Atomic Energy Organization chief told Reuters in an interview on Thursday.

- No weapon that is forged against you will prosper . . . (Isaiah 54:17)

7. US dismisses Iran's uranium claims - Jerusalem Post

The United States doesn't believe Iran is capable of enriching uranium to the degree the Islamic Republic claims, the White House said on Thursday night.

- Pray that all of the intelligence given to the President and his top officials Will be true and not distorted in any way. Then ask that they be granted Wisdom from above in response to this new information now coming out of Tehran. Amen.

- I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go: I will guide you with my eye. (Psalm 32:8)

The Daily Jot

White House in Denial Over Iran Nuclear Announcement

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has announced to the world that his terrorist sponsoring nation is capable of enriching uranium to make an atomic bomb. Russia and China, permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, have assisted Iran in this endeavor. Russia has built the nuclear installations for Iran and China has provided missile technology that Iran might have a delivery system once it has a nuclear bomb. With the announcement, Russia has also promised Iran delivery of air defense systems that will make it more difficult for Israel to attack Iran's nuclear installations.

The problem with Iran, Russia and China and nuclear weapons is nearly a decade old. It was November 23, 2004 that Islamic head of the UN International Atomic Energy Agency, Mohamed El Baradei, told the world, "I am not willing to jump to the conclusion and say this is a weapons program unless I see a diversion of nuclear material to such a program or I see clear cut proof that this is a weapons program. And we are not there yet." El Baradei spent years buying time for Iran and its partners to build Iran's nuclear program. For his efforts, he was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize in 2005. Now reality is that Iran was and is developing a nuclear bomb.

Reality is something of which the man who occupies the Oval Office needs a strong dose. He told reporters on February 9 that the Iran situation was under control. He said, "And what we are going to be working on over the next several weeks is developing a significant regime of sanctions that will indicate to them how isolated they are from the international community as a whole." Fact is, the UN has been proposing sanctions for years, only to have them watered down or blocked by China and Russia. This White House, which is enamored with appeasement negotiations with Iran, doesn't understand Iran intends to dominate the world with Islam so it is not the least bit concerned about international isolation.

To allow the Islamic madmen of Iran to develop a nuclear bomb for use against Israel is irresponsible and reckless. Yet prophecy will not be denied. Ezekiel 38 and 39 prophesies that the Lord will bring Gog from the Land of Magog, along with Persia, Libya and Ethiopia to attack Israel in the latter days. These lands in modern times include Russia, parts of Western China, Iran, and Northern Africa. That the heathen may know God, Ezekiel 39:4 says, "Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou and all they bands, and people that is with thee." The Lord will destroy those coming against Israel. And the prophecy clock again ticks forward with this Iranian news and the international community's response to it.

Netanyahu to Visit Moscow on Sunday

Netanyahu's Visit to Russia Expected to Focus on Blocking Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and other leaders during an official visit next week to Moscow. This will be Netanyahu's first official visit to Russia, though he secretly visited the country last September reportedly to push the Russians to support economic sanctions intended to block Iran from getting nuclear weapons and buying Russian arms.

The same issues will be high on the [upcoming] two-day visit's agenda, particularly the Russian decision to sell the sophisticated S-300 anti-aircraft missile system [to Iran].

Netanyahu's visit comes on the heels of a visit to Moscow by Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal. Meshaal's journey to Russia was reportedly aimed at seeking Russian help in mending the rift between the Islamist Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, and its rival Fatah movement of the Palestinian Authority, which controls parts of the West Bank [Judea and Samaria].

(By The Media Line, February 8, 2010)

Pray that Netanyahu will be filled with the wisdom of the Lord as he speaks with Russian leaders. Pray that the Lord bring even the Russians on board in an effort to end the Iranian nuclear threat.

- For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. (Proverbs 2:6) [Source for this report: Bridges for Peace; BFP)

Israel: "Impose Crippling Sanctions on Iran"

PM: Impose Crippling Sanctions on Iran Now

On a day Iran is making another step in its nuclear program, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is calling on the international community to act quickly. "Iran is pushing forwards with its nuclear arming race, while slighting the wishes of the international community, which needs to protect peace and impose sanctions on Iran-not partial and moderate sanctions. The duty is to impose paralyzing sanctions on Iran now," Netanyahu said Tuesday [February 9] while addressing ambassadors of European Union countries.

The prime minister also added, "In recent days, leaders of the Iranian brutal regime have called for the annihilation of the State of Israel. Israel expects any responsible government in the world, certainly your own governments, to harshly condemn these statements. But it takes more than words."

Tehran announced on Tuesday that it has started producing uranium enriched to a level of 20% for a reactor making medical isotopes. "We started preparatory work at 9:30 am (0600 GMT) in the presence of (International Atomic Energy Agency) representatives," a spokesman for Iran's nuclear energy agency, Ali Shirzadian said.

Elements in Washington, which have already noted that new sanctions were inevitable said that they will ask the UN's Security Council to approve a decision, which will lay the foundations for an additional round of sanctions within "weeks and not months."

Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell told reporters Tuesday [February 9] that [US Defense Secretary Robert] Gates "clearly thinks time is of the essence." However, China, whose support is crucial, has announced that it still believed in diplomacy.

[Israeli] President [Shimon] Peres also commented on the issue and said "(Iranian President [Mahmoud]) Ahmadinejad is an example of moral corruption and a dictator who kills people on the street, funds terror, calls for the annihilation of another people, and denies the Holocaust."

Peres made the statements during a meeting with 600 students in Modi'in. According to the president, "What is being said in Iran is condescension." Peres also insinuated criticism on the conduct of the international community, pointing to the recent anti-regime riots in Tehran. "One can see that those who act against the regime are the Iranians themselves." (By Roni Sofer, Ronen Medzini contributed to this report, Ynetnews, February 9, 2010)

- Continue to pray that the Lord will move quickly and forcefully to bring an end to Iran's nuclear capability.

- Hear my cry, O God; attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For You have been a shelter for me, a strong tower from the enemy. (Psalm 61:1-3) [Source: Bridges for Peace]

Planned Parenthood Pushes Sex Ed

Planned Parenthood Pushes Intensive Sex Education for Kids as Young as 10

A new report by the International Planned Parenthood Federation is advocating that children as young as 10 be given extensive sex education, including an awareness of sex's pleasures.

The report, "Stand and Deliver," charges that religious groups, specifically Catholics and Muslims, deny their young access to comprehensive sexual programs and education.

"Young people's sexuality is still contentious for many religious institutions. Fundamentalist and other religious groups the Catholic Church and madrasas (Islamic Schools) for example have imposed tremendous barriers that prevent young people, particularly, from obtaining information and services related to sex and reproduction. Currently, many religious teachings deny the pleasurable and positive aspects of sex." the report states. (Fox News)

- Dear God in heaven, bind, break and destroy any and all organizations who targets our innocent children in an effort to destroy all decency and normal upbringing. We knock on heaven's door and call for You to sweep off the map the enemies of our children. Shut the mouths of the Lions. We ask that You dispatch the warring angelic hosts from heaven to surround every boy and girl on this nation, irregardless of age and pull them into the safety of God's arms. In Jesus Name.

- The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I (Jesus) come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (John 10:10 )
