The Daily Brief -Thursday, March 25, 2010

"I know that my Redeemer lives." (Job 19:25)

Today's Daily Brief

1. Obama signs executive order on abortion - AFP

Obama signed an executive order barring taxpayer dollars from being used to pay for abortions, keeping to a pledge he made to help push his health care reform through Congress.

- Father, we thank you for this gesture from the President. However, since an "executive order" is not the law of the land, we pray that it will not be breached by government officials in any area. We pray that the bill which caused the fight be repealed and that sanctity of life be protected throughout our nation.

- "I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for the Lord dwelleth in Zion." (Joel 3:21)

2. Dems deal with threats over health care support - AP

Democratic Congress members are getting lessons from the FBI on how to handle threats such as several directed at their colleagues, including bricks hurled through windows and menacing obscenity-laced phone messages left for those who supported sweeping federal health care legislation.

- Lord, we pray that You will cause conservatives of every background to be calm and wise. We pray that You will touch hearts and bring people to their knees rather than allow themselves to respond with violence and anger, as they are playing into the hands of the enemy.

- "Be ye angry and sin not; let not the sun go down upon your wrath." (Ephesians 4:26)

3. Nuclear terror risk to Britain from al-Qaeda - London Telegraph

Britain faces an increased threat of a nuclear attack by al-Qaeda terrorists following a rise in the trafficking of radiological material, a government report has warned.

- Lord, we bind the spirit of murder behind the plans of Al-Qaeda. We pray for all hidden secrets to be revealed, and all plots against Britain or any other nation be thwarted.

- "The Lord has broken the staff of the wicked, and the scepter of the rulers." (Isaiah 14:5)

4. a) U.S. Softens Sanction Plan Against Iran - Fox News

The U.S. has backed away from pursuing a number of tough measures against Iran in order to win support from Russia and China for a new United Nations Security Council resolution on sanctions, according to people familiar with the matter.

b) Russia, China quietly prodding Iran towards nuclear deal - Ha'aretz

Russia and China have quietly made clear to the Iranian government they want Tehran to change its approach to the nuclear issue and accept a UN atomic fuel offer, Western diplomats said on Tuesday.

- Lord , man is easily deceived by political maneuvering. We pray that You will stand in the gap between Iran's plans and the Western world. We ask that truth be revealed in all negotiations. We bind the spirits of darkness which run the leadership of Iran and loose against them the Blood of Jesus!

- "All the strength of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted." (Psalm 75:10)

5. Cyber Attack on U.S. Firms, Google Traced to Chinese - Fox News

An Obama administration official told The Washington Times the U.S. was able, with some confidence, to link the cyber attack on Google and other U.S. companies, to Chinese government organs.

- Father, we ask that You put a holy protection around our country to prevent cyber attacks from the Chinese government or any other government. Mix up the airwaves and the satellites and break up the connection. Send out a holy call that will halt such interaction.

- "Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate." (Psalm 34:21)

6. Rotarix rotavirus vaccine contaminated, officials say - CNN

Federal health authorities recommended Monday that doctors suspend using Rotarix, one of two vaccines licensed in the United States against rotavirus, saying the vaccine is contaminated with material from a pig virus.

- God, we thank You for protecting the American people in their innocence of using such a vaccine. Enlighten our eyes to see and understand what is good and what is bad. Cover us with Your wings of safety. Remove us from harm's way. In Jesus Name.

- "You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall compass me about with songs of deliverance." (Psalm 32:7)

7. US Citizen Facing Trial in North Korea a 'Passionate' Christian - VOA

Those who know him say a U.S. citizen facing trial for entering North Korea illegally is a passionate Christian, but has occasional social difficulties.

- Father, deliver this man from the grasp of the North Koreans and from their relentless hatred of Christians. Miraculously lift this man out of North Korea and onto safe ground. Raise Your sword against his enemies and assign a mighty angel of God to stand alongside him. In Jesus' Name.

- "When a man's ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him." (Proverbs 16:7)

The Daily Jot - Part One

The Profound Nature and Origin of Civil Rights

Obama says that it is a human right to have health care. The list of "rights" oft enumerated by socialists are many, but few are ever allowed once the heavy hand of government forcefully intervenes in the private lives of citizens. This is why Americans must understand where their rights originate and be able to discern and identify the cleaver wiles of evil principalities' and their human minions' deception of using heart strings to access purse strings. How often have we heard the socialists say that every citizen has the right to a house, to health care, to welfare, to abortion, to sexual perversion--all rights that come with a cost to society as mandated by government.

The original right of self determination and free will was documented in Genesis 2:16, "And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof, you shall surely die." Here the Lord God put man in charge of the garden (the right to property and dominion over it) and he gave him free will to commune with God and to partake of all that was in the garden, except for one thing--the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God said here that if you take of this tree you shall surely die. Here the Lord was protecting man from sin, which causes death.

God revealed His law to man through the Ten Commandments and the subsequent laws found in the first five books of the Bible. These enumerated the rights of mankind and how they were to be lived. All rights come from God, not from man or from government. The government of Moses and subsequent rulers in the Bible was set in place to administer and to guarantee that the rights of man given by God were protected from those who would infringe or usurp them. It is in this template that great charters of human government were developed--the Magna Carter, English Common Law, the Constitution of the United States.

These documents recognized that the rights of mankind were endowed by God and that government is established to protect these rights. It cannot be clearer why those with wicked hearts would wish to undermine God and establish their own system of rights and government. If the socialists, for example, can dispel the people from believing the Creation account and confuse citizens on the basic tenets of God's word, then laws and rights endowed by man can be established giving certain men advantage over others. Even better if this confusion can come from the pulpits in the houses of God. Then the evil ones have control over the life and death of the citizenry.

The Daily Jot - Part Two

The White House, Israel and the Zechariah Prophecy

The seemingly un-patchable rift between Obama and the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is a type and shadow of prophecy. And the U.S. Administration's foolish position is likely to open the doors to a lot of angst and problems for America and its citizens. The entire spat on the surface appears to be over Israel announcing that it intended to build 1,600 homes in East Jerusalem when Vice President Joe Biden was visiting the Palestinian leadership in Israel a couple of weeks ago. But the problem is much deeper between this Administration and that of Netanyahu's.

The Palestinian Authority, by any judgment a suit and tie front for terrorists, wants to make East Jerusalem the capital of the Palestinian State being pushed so hard by the White House. And the man in the White House has been trying to push Netanyahu around since he took office. A year ago in March, the White House hammered Israel over the building of new settlements. The White House reportedly pushed behind the scenes to make sure the conservative Netanyahu did not gain office in the the first place. Plus there is a strong, anti-Israel jaundice to this White House with the man in the Oval Office raised Muslim, and with the appointment of many questionable Islamic actors to high level Administration positions.

So its seems that every action taken by the Israeli government is an affront to the American Administration. Israel has been unwilling to give up its land for peace under Netanyahu as the Prime Minister says that the Palestinian leadership must recognize Israel's right to exist and that a "Palestinian" state must be demilitarized--two sticking points. The Palestinian leadership is unlikely ever to recognize Israel's right to exist as the Palestinian Liberation Organization's charter specifically states that it intends to drive Israel into the sea. The demilitarization of any Palestinian state is also unlikely because the US has been arming and training Palestinian security forces for years.

The Lord says in Zechariah 12:2-3, "Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it." The actions of the White House in publicly lashing out at Israel for building houses in Jerusalem, for buddying up with the front group for the Palestinian terrorists, and in trying to force Israel to divide its land and give it to mortal enemies, could very well, if it has not already, activate this prophecy upon America.

WHAT HAPPENED BEHIND THE SCENES IN THE OBAMA-NETANYAHU MEETINGS THIS WEEK?

NETANYAHU STOOD HIS GROUND. - By Joel Rosenberg

(Washington, D.C., March 25, 2010) -- The Obama administration this week applied intense and unprecedented pressure on the Netanyahu government to make huge unilateral concessions to the Palestinians even before direct peace talks begin. One advisor who has been briefed on the talks told me: "President Obama is insisting that Israel sign a document that specifies Israel's commitment to a peace deal with the Palestinians that will be based on 1967 lines. This means no building in Jerusalem, and a time table to address other core issues, like the 'right of return.'" The source, one that I trust a great deal, also noted that President Obama spoke by phone with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown to make sure each of them are on board with pressuring the Israelis to make such unprecedented unilateral concessions.

The good news: Netanyahu had a very good week. He looked strong and principled. He was gracious and diplomatic. And he stood his ground. He did not cave into the intense pressure from the White House and State Department. He refused to divide Jerusalem. In a masterful AIPAC speech, he calmly and clearly explained why Israel would never give up the right to build homes in her capital. He sent the U.S. and the world a straightforward and sobering message that if they don't move quickly and decisively to stop Iran from getting the Bomb, then Israel will do it herself. He didn't threaten. He didn't swagger. He simply stated the facts, in their historic context, and nobody does it better than Netanyahu. What's more, he did all this with Defense Minister Ehud Barak standing in solidarity at his side, which was important because it sent the White House - and his critics back in Israel, and enemies back in Iran -- the message that the Israeli government is united. No small thing. Barak came to Camp David with Yasser Arafat in 2000 willing carve up Jerusalem and give away the West Bank. God bless Netanyahu for opposing this approach in principle, and for having and (thus far, at least) maintaining Barak's support in the process.

The AIPAC speech, plus the warm and engaging meetings with Members of Congress significantly strengthened Netanyahu's hand. It reconnected him in a very important way with grassroots pro-Israel activists from all over the U.S., Jews and Christians alike. It also significantly strengthened his alliance with Congress, which continues to prove itself as the pro-Israel end of Pennsylvania Avenue. Both are critical in counter-balancing the hostile Hussein Obama administration.

My wife, Lynn and I, and the incoming chairman of The Joshua Fund and his wife, were at the AIPAC dinner on Monday night and heard Netanyahu's speech in person. It was exceptional. Our favorite moment at the dinner: an evening with Orthodox Jews at our table who were deeply moved and profoundly grateful for the support of Christians. "You Christians are the best friends Israel has. You're the only friends we really have."

Bart Stupak: A Commentary

Bart Stupak, Benedict Arnold, Julius & Ethel Rosenberg, and Jane Fonda

By Capitol Hill Update; Christian Coalition of America
March 25, 2010

Nearly all Americans, even students in America's politically-correct schools, know who America's number one traitor is, Benedict Arnold, who escaped to Great Britain avoiding arrest and the noose during the Revolutionary War. Most senior citizens, and other knowledgeable Americans, know who Julius and Ethel Rosenberg are, American communist traitors executed for treason at the height of the Cold War.

And many Americans, and virtually all of us Vietnam War veterans, know the treachery of actress Jane Fonda who actually was in our communist enemy's capital, Hanoi, Vietnam, at the height of the Vietnam War pretending to shoot down American pilots with a North Vietnamese artillery piece, a photo which gave huge aid and comfort to our communist enemies all over the world.

Which brings us to America's newest traitor in this infamous list of traitors: Democrat Congressman Bart Stupak from the First Congressional District of Michigan. Last Sunday, Bart Stupak single-handedly provided the enemies of American culture his vote and less than a handful of votes to install socialism (ObamaCare) for the first time in America.

Indeed, on the very morning of the vote for ObamaCare -- on the Lord's Day of all days -- Hussein Obama and Nancy Pelosi did not have the votes according to one of the most non-partisan voter-counters on Capitol Hill. That is, until Democrat Congressman Bart Stupak made his treacherous pact with Obama and Pelosi.

LifeNews.com, which gives daily updates of the issue of abortion in America, had a poignant headline yesterday entitled: "Post Stupak: Do Pro-Life Democrats Exist, Can They be Trusted on Abortion?" Americans now know that Bart Stupak himself can never be trusted on any matter again. It is beyond belief how he can even live with himself. . . (Read more)

Senate Acts on Health Bill; Now Back to the House

Update: Activity on Health Care Bill (Source: Office of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell)

To members of the Senate:

We wanted to give you an update this morning on Health Care after a long night. After 29 votes on amendments at around 3:00 am the Senate adjourned until 9:45 am this morning.

Under the consent agreement reached last night we will continue voting on amendments, motions and points of order up until 2:00 pm when we will vote on passage.

There are two provisions in the reconciliation bill (dealing with Pell Grants) which violate the Byrd Rule and they will be stricken out of the bill. This means after the Senate completes its work today the bill will return to the House and they will have to take it up again.

So we expect another busy day of votes on the floor.

Latest from Fox News:

After Senate Republicans succeeded in forcing a new House vote on the "fix-it" health care bill, congressional Democrats are now scrambling to finish work on the legislation before leaving town this weekend for Easter recess. The Senate passed the follow-up health care bill Thursday afternoon, 56-43. Three Democrats, Sens. Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor of Arkansas, joined Republicans in voting against the bill. But the bill still has to return to the House for final congressional approval, after the Senate parliamentarian determined early Thursday morning that two Republican challenges succeeded in stripping out language in the package.

House leaders predict their chamber will complete the bill by day's end.
