The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" (Revelation 22:17)

The Daily Brief

1. Tehran, Damascus Tell Hizballah to Grab Beirut Right After Ahmadinejad's Visit October 14th - DEBKAFile

The Iranian and Syrian presidents agreed in Tehran Saturday, Oct. 2, to support Hizballah's grab of Lebanon's power centers, including the capital Beirut, right after Mahmoud Ahmadinejad ends his controversial two-day visit to the country on October 13-14. They also decided to harass the current Saad Hariri government, son of murdered former Prime Minister of Lebanon, Rafic Hariri, until it dissolves the UN tribunal probing the Hariri murder - or is overthrown. The arrest warrants for 33 individuals issued by Damascus amounts to a declaration of war.

- Lord, we bind the plans of Syria to take over Lebanon and loose Your Holy Spirit and heavenly host to stop this attempted overthrow of their government. We thank You for the protection of Christian and Jewish believers in Lebanon, and call forth Your power to change hearts in the midst of these dangerous days.

- "Grant not, O Lord, the desires of the wicked; further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves." (Psalm 140:8)

2. Russian Experts Flee Iran's Dragnet For Cyber Worm Smugglers - DEBKAFile

Debkafile's intelligence sources report from Iran that dozens of Russian nuclear engineers, technicians and contractors are hurriedly departing Iran for home since local intelligence authorities began rounding up their compatriots as suspects of planting the Stuxnet malworm into their nuclear program.

Among them are Russian personnel who built Iran's first nuclear reactor at Bushehr which Tehran admits has been damaged by the virus.

- Father, we pray that innocent people will not be arrested or detained by Iran. We ask that whoever planted the cyber virus be whisked away safely from the Iranian intelligence forces, and that the Bushehr facility will never be able to accomplish the destruction of Israel or the US.

- "Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we are escaped." (Psalm 124:7)

3. Russia successfully tests Bulava missile- UNI

Russia today successfully launched a Bulava submarine-launched intercontinental ballistic missile which hit its target on the Kura test range in Russia's Far East Kamchatka region, the Defence Ministry said.

- Lord, we just signed a treaty with Russia to remove more nuclear arms, and here we see a new nuclear delivery missile. We pray for Your covering against any agendas of the Russian government that would harm the U.S. or our allies.

- "Deliver me, O Lord, from mine enemies: I flee unto Thee to hide." (Psalm 143:9)

4. Pakistan Spy Agency Reportedly Urging Taliban to Fight U.S. - Fox News

U.S. officials, Afghan militants say members of Pakistan's spy agency are pressing Taliban commanders to fight the U.S. in Afghanistan, the Wall Street Journal reports, an explosive accusation amid deteriorating relations with the essential war ally.

- Lord, here we are once again seeing "allies" who are working against us. We ask that all hidden secrets continue to be revealed, and for wisdom to our leaders for the response.

- "Surely You set them in slippery places: You cast them down to destruction. How they are brought to desolation, in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors." (Psalm 73"18-19)

5. Hungary Toxic Sludge Could Become "Economic Catastrophe" - Fox News

The emergency management office of the Hungarian government tells Fox News the toxic sludge from the Aluminum plant disaster has not yet reached the main Danube River. Traces are now being picked up six miles away in a Danube tributary in the town of Gyor.

We're told pH value of the water downstream is just over 9. Normal levels are 6.5 to 8.5. It was at 13. (PH monitors the alkaline content of the water). The improvement is a combination of efforts to absorb the material also the dilution from the water.

Two settlements remain severely affected comprising an area of 40 square miles.

- Father, we ask Your mercy for the people of Europe against the disease and contamination from this toxic spill. We pray for Your supernatural help for the people of this region.

-"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases." (Psalm 103:2,3)

6. Lieberman: Obama trying to force agreement on Israel - Israel News

Israel must not be tempted to adopt US President Barack Obama's suggestion to declare a two-month settlement construction moratorium, as it may lead to a forced (peace) agreement with the Palestinians and a return to the 1967 borders, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Sunday.

During closed-door discussions with fellow members of his Yisrael Beiteinu party, Lieberman said, "The pressure won't work. We are not leaving the coalition in order to bolster the majority in government, which is against continuing the settlement construction moratorium."

- Father, we pray Israel will not bow to the Obama administration, and that only Your will shall prevail over the Jewish people.

- "Nevertheless My lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer My faithfulness to fail. My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that has gone out of My lips." (Psalm 89: 33-34)

7. Fed Officials Mull Inflation as a Fix - Wall Street Journal

The Federal Reserve spent the past three decades getting inflation low and keeping it there. But as the U.S. economy struggles and flirts with the prospect of deflation, some central bank officials are publicly broaching a controversial idea: lifting inflation above the Fed's informal target.

- Father, it seems that we continually look to wrongs to make a right. We pray for our financial leaders to have solid methods to fix the economy long term- jobs, wise spending, etc-rather than foolish practices that will eventually cause more mayhem.

- "He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, He reproved kings for their sakes." (Psalm 105:14)

8. Rap Education Held Back Over "Dead White Men" Lyrics - Fox News

Oklahoma City public school district is taking a second look at a plan to teach at-risk students using rap and hip-hop after teachers rip one lesson referring to the Founding Fathers as 'old dead white men'

- Lord, we thank You for halting this plan to share song lyrics that bash our nation's history. We grieve over the sin which has so easily exchanged our godly heritage for immorality and shame. Have mercy, Father.

- "Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set." (Proverbs 22:28)

The Daily Jot

Able men, such as fear God, men of truth

There is excitement about the prospects of the November elections. Many believe there will be such a turn around in the House and Senate that the failed policies of this Administration will be repealed, reversed and retracted. I am not so sure. The composition of the party control may change. But if the recent past is any indicator, there are many in each party that are indistinguishable from one another--they support the same things. Indeed, the November election will not cure, nor even begin to cure, the $14 trillion debt that this Congress and White House have run up in your name, your children's name and your grandchildren's name. I am saying that any move away from this socialism is going to take a while.

Christians across the land must understand that the nation is not in the shape it is in because of politicians. It is in this degraded condition because of the people who elect the politicians. In this country, we have a choice of our rulers, and as Christians we should be choosing candidates that align with God's word. Trouble is, the two party system that has become the norm, often chooses candidates that are so similar that many voters are placed in the precarious position of choosing between what we call "the lessor of two evils." This is why we must get involved at the local level. Get involved by becoming members of the central committees of the parties and have a say in the candidate selection process.

This was the organizational principle on which the entire government of the United States was predicated. We see in this the system of representation how the Founding Fathers established the forms of government from federal-- Executive, Judicial and Legislative bodies-- to the state and the local systems of government. There was a requirement, however, in administering these laws. Those in leadership positions needed to be "able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness." In other words, moral and Godly people were to be in charge of administering the laws. This is where we have failed in contemporary Christianity in not ensuring the character and quality of our lawmakers. Let us begin again now.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!
