The Daily Brief - Wednesday, March 16, 2011

"For thus saith the Lord of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; and I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the Lord of hosts." (Haggai 2:6,7)

The Daily Brief

1. Calif. official: Tsunami damage upward of $40M - AP

A California official on Monday estimated that statewide damage from last week's surge exceeds $40 million.

- We have now seen that the false gods of Shintoism and Buddhism, worshiped by many in Japan, do not have the strength to hold tectonic plates together. But our GOD does! If we repent, yield and ask for His mercy, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob can easily hold back or lessen the impact of any future quakes in America. Pray!

- "And I will not hide My face from them anymore; for I shall have poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel,' says the Lord GOD." (Ezekiel 39:29)

2. Special report: Big California quake likely to devastate state - Reuters

California will experience unthinkable damage when the next powerful quake strikes, probably within 30 years, even though the state prides itself on being on the leading edge of earthquake science.

- We understand that California "prides itself on being on the leading edge of earthquake science," but those who built the Titanic also prided themselves on that great achievement, too. Ask that the people of California be graced with a spirit of repentance for their continued sin and hardness before the Lord. (The track record in this state on same-sex marriage, for example, is horrible.) May they quickly humble themselves, repent, and turn towards the Lord, lest He turn His face from them. May they then find MERCY in time of need. In His Name, amen.

- "I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all in like manner perish." (Luke 13:33)

3. Scientists: Powerful neurotoxin drove millions of fish to deaths - CNN

A powerful neurotoxin likely drove millions of sardines to their death last week in King Harbor Marina in Redondo Beach, California, scientists said. David Caron, a University of Southern California professor of biological sciences, said his team took samples and found traces of a toxin that caused the fish to become disoriented and swim chaotically into the marina. Read more.

- Ummmm, with all respect to science . . . we ask that those in authority take another look at this phenomena, as well as other related reports now surfacing up and down our West Coast. The LORD has His means of warning His people when disaster may be imminent -- or not. If you live on the West Coast, ask our Lord to grant you His wisdom in the days ahead. His peace will lead you in the way you should go . . .

- "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; let not your heart be troubled." (John 14:27)

4. U.S. markets plunge on fears of nuclear catastrophe in Japan - Washington Post

U.S. stocks dropped sharply into the red early Tuesday following a global sell-off on fears that what appeared to be a serious but contained nuclear accident in Japan is turning into a full-blown catastrophe.

- (Repeating our prayer on Monday's OCAP) The ripple effect from this tsunami and earthquake in the economic sector may be felt for a long time ahead. Begin to pray now that the world markets will stabilize quickly in light of this disaster; and that Japan's movements to rescue its own economy by dumping overseas assets would be moderated by common sense. Let not panic overtake the markets; pray for wisdom.

- "The Lord sat as King at the flood; the Lord sits as King forever." (Psalm 29:10)

5. a. Japan braces for potential radiation catastrophe - Swiss Info

Japan faced a potential catastrophe on Tuesday after a quake-crippled nuclear power plant exploded and sent low levels of radiation floating towards Tokyo, prompting some people to flee the capital and others to stock up on essential supplies.

b. Radioactive Winds Blowing Towards Tokyo - CNBC

Winds over an earthquake-stricken nuclear power plant in Japan are blowing slowly in a southwesterly direction that includes Tokyo but will shift westerly later on Tuesday, a weather official said.

- Father, protect the people of Japan and Tokyo, and all others who may be in the path of the radiation that is carried by the wind. We pray the radiation in the atmosphere will lessen and deteriorate. We pray this situation will be contained, and speak peace to the destruction.

- He is a Savior and Deliverer and He works signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. (Daniel 6: 27)

6. U.S. redirects warships over Japan radiation risk - Reuters

The U.S. military took new steps to shield personnel from radiation spread by Japan's crippled nuclear plant on Tuesday, redirecting arriving warships to safer waters and telling some forces to limit time outdoors.

- Father, we pray protection over our troops arriving in this region. May they believe in and trust in You during this time.

- May they say like Daniel...My God has sent His angel and has shut the lions' mouth (nuclear destruction)- so that it has not hurt me, because I was found innocent and blameless before Him. (Daniel 6:22)

7. a. Why has Bahrain decided to call in the troops? - UK Telegraph

The Bahrain monarchy's reflexive fear of Iran drove its decision to call out Saudi Arabian troops.

b. Saudi sends troops, Bahrain Shi'ites call it "war" - Reuters

Saudi Arabia sent troops into Bahrain on Monday to help calm weeks of protests by the Shi'ite Muslim majority, a move opponents of the Sunni ruling family on the island called a declaration of war.

- Father, we speak peace to this unrest. May your will be done in this area and over these surrounding countries.Your word tells us nation shall rise against nation. We intercede on behalf of these end time events.

- For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in place after place. (Matthew 24:7)

(Joel 3:1-2)

1. Navy: Anti-ship missiles, Farsi manual found on seized vessel - Ynet News

IDF commandoes who seized the "Victoria" vessel some 200 nautical miles off Israel's coast found 50 tons of weapons in containers that were meant to hold cotton and lentils, roughly the same amount that was found on the Karin A, the army said Tuesday evening.

The Daily Jot

Prophetic Tipping Point: The condition of the world relating to Israel

Whether you believe in a "spiritual" Israel or that Israel is certainly a physical place that is home to the Jewish people, you cannot deny that those who are pressuring Israel to give up its traditional Biblical lands to Arabs led by former and current Islamic terrorists are suffering tremendous political upheaval, natural disasters and financial catastrophes. These calamities are visible all around the world right now, bringing to mind the Zechariah 12:3 prophecy by the Lord: "And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it."

The Middle East is on fire. A Palestinian terrorist brutally murdered an entire Israeli family. The once stable kingdom of Saudi Arabia is experiencing unrest. Saudi and United Arab Emirate troops have been sent to the tiny country of Bahrain to quell protests there. Of course, there is Egypt and any number of other Arab/Islamic countries facing civil unrest that could lead to war. Libya is fully engaged in a civil war. In most all these cases, the popular cry from the people is freedom, but in reality, they are trading one type of tyranny for another. The Muslim Brotherhood, which was in Iran recently meeting with the Ayatollah there, waits in the wings to establish an Islamic Sharia government in most of these places.

Western nations face financial collapse. The European Union has had to take aggressive measures to fend off the actual bankruptcy of Greece, and many of the Euro-nations are experiencing tremendous financial and weather-related challenges. The United States is running record deficits, record debt, experiencing political unrest, is at war with Islam, and is still reeling from many natural disasters. Russia faces economic and political strife as well as Islamic terrorism. China is also experiencing political unrest, a great social class disparity in wages, and inflation--signs of things to come. And Japan, woe is Japan that has been pummeled with an earthquake, a tsunami and thousands of deaths.

All these countries have at least one thing in common: They have publicly and privately pressured Israel to give up its land for peace. For many years nothing seemed to be apparent that would lead the "world" to believe that there were curses on those who came against Israel. Those who know the scriptures could see it, but it still remains veiled to the world. The turmoil throughout the world--kingdom against kingdom, wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes, pestilences and famines--has seemed to converge at a tipping point. Ahead we will either see the tide of events ebb as do birth pangs, or we will see them escalate. If they continue to escalate, first, be not troubled, but also know these are the true beginning of sorrows.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Palestinians Celebrate Itamar Massacre

Palestinian Killers Slaughter Israeli Family

An Israeli family was brutally murdered in their home in Samaria over the weekend. The parents and three of their children, including an infant girl, were viciously stabbed to death in their sleep. One child's throat was cut by a "brave" jihadist who no doubt believed that Allah would reward him in paradise for this unspeakable evil.

Upon hearing news of the atrocity, Palestinians in Gaza rushed into the street to dance and hand out candy to celebrate the murders, just as they did after 9/11. These are some of the people the "international community" demands be given a state and to whom the Obama Administration sends tens of millions of our tax dollars. These are the people with whom Israel is supposed to negotiate and sign treaties.

The killings were condemned by the Palestinian "prime minister" and by some Palestinian newspapers. But the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade, an offshoot of the "moderate" Fatah Party, claimed credit for the slaughter. Palestinian culture and society is permeated with incitement to hate the Jews and to kill the infidel.

Palestinian TV regularly shows little boys and girls who are prompted to say that they want to grow up and "liberate" Jerusalem and reclaim the land for Allah. Schools and mosques teach hate day after day. This is why it is absurd to keep pretending that a Palestinian state would live side-by-side in peace with its Israeli neighbors.

In response to the killings, the Israeli cabinet Saturday night authorized the construction of hundreds of new homes in Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria. The Obama Administration, of course, condemned the killings, but it also condemned the plan to build new homes. Authorizing new homes was the appropriate Israeli response. As Prime Minister Netanyahu said, "[The Palestinians] murder and [the Israelis] build." (Gary Bauer)

ICEJ Statement on Itamar Massacre

Excusing Baby Killers

ICEJ condemns the media's decision to dehumanize Israeli victims of terror

Statement by ICEJ Executive Director - Rev Malcolm Hedding

JERUSALEM - The world has been gripped in recent days by news of the earthquake and tsunami that have devastated the eastern seaboard of Japan. And while the thoughts and prayers of Christians around the world have been focused on the dire needs of the Japanese people - other headlines have passed us by.

On the evening of Friday March 11th, at a time when most of the world was first beginning to recognize the severity of the events unfolding in Japan, a group of Palestinian terrorists crept into the Jewish town of Itamar in northern Samaria and stabbed five members of the same family to death.

According to Israeli news reports, the killings occurred shortly after 10pm when the terrorists broke into the home of Ruth and Udi Fogel, aged 35 and 36, respectively. The attackers went from room to room, stabbing the parents, before slitting the throats of their 11 year-old son Yoav, his 4 year-old brother Eldad, and their 3 month-old baby sister Hadas. Miraculously two other young children were spared, as they lay sleeping on the couch, presumably unnoticed by the killers. The victim's blood-soaked bodies were found by their 12 year-old sister as she returned from a youth group meeting in the village later that night.

"They say Eretz Yisrael is acquired through pain and suffering," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the grieving family of the victims on Sunday. "But we didn't think the pain and suffering would be so great."

And yet the pain and suffering of which the Israeli Prime Minister spoke has only been intensified in recent days as media networks across the world have sought to 'explain' the killings as part of a 'cycle of violence' caused by the decision of the Israeli government to temporarily allow the building of new homes within existing West Bank Jewish communities.[1]

Once again the heart-breaking story of a family slain in their beds has been buried under the political agenda of news editors. Many headlines simply treated the victims as anonymous "Jewish settlers" dehumanizing the Fogel family with accompanying pictures of Israeli soldiers carrying machine guns - as if to suggest that the real villain in the tragedy was Israel itself.[2]

Some went even further. The Los Angeles Times blamed the settlements as the "provocation that led to [the murders] in the first place,"[3] whilst CNN and the BBC both cast doubt on the fact that Palestinian terrorists were to blame despite a clearly-issued claim of responsibility by the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade - the military wing of the Palestinian Authority's governing Fatah party. [4]

"Only you decided to use the term terrorist attack in quotation marks, as if this were not necessarily the case," Oren Helman of the Israeli Government Press Office wrote to CNN. "There is a limit to the extent of objectivity regarding such a horrific deed." [5]

The International Christian Embassy Jerusalem condemns in the strongest possible terms the persistent attitude of the international media that seeks to dehumanize the Israeli victims of Palestinian terrorism and blame their deaths on the policies of the Israeli government rather than the culture of jihad and incitement that fills the schools, mosques and state-run media throughout the Palestinian territories.

The ICEJ also calls on Christians to stand against the creeping demonization of the State of Israel that is gathering momentum throughout the nations of the world; a demonization that denies the Jewish people's historic and legal right to live in their historic homeland and seeks to equate Israeli actions of self-defense with murderous atrocities such as the killing of the Fogel family in Itamar on Friday.

Rev. Malcolm Hedding serves as the Executive Director of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem -an evangelical ministry headquartered in Jerusalem that stands at the forefront of a worldwide movement of Christians who support Israel. For 30 years the ICEJ has funded social and humanitarian projects that have helped every community and people group in the land of Israel.

"I Will Be Their Mother" Says 12 Year Old Tamar Fogel

Tamar Fogel Speaks of the Future

The eldest daughter of the Fogel family, 12 year old Tamar, promised her relatives: "I will be strong and succeed in overcoming this. I understand the task that stands before me, and I will be a mother to my siblings." The orphaned youngster's words were quoted in the Hebrew daily Yisrael Hayom.
In their home in the town of Neve Tsuf in Samaria, Tsila and Chaim Fogel, parents of Udi, are sitting on low benches for the traditional "shiva" week of mourning alongside his three brothers and sister. There is a constant stream of comforters going in and out of the house, VIP's and ordinary citizens from all over Israel, whose hearts go out to the bereft family that lost son, daughter-in-law, and three young grandchildren in a barbaric terrorist slaughter on Friday night.

Chaim Fogel continues to retell the story of terrible hours from 3 a.m. on, when he received the horrific news, drove to Itamar, met his 12 year old granddaughter and then entered the family's home. The authorities were forced to ask her to tell what she saw when she returned from her youth group activity to find her family's bloodsoaked bodies at 12:30 a.m. Chaim himself had the heartbreaking task of identifying the bodies.

"We came to take the surviving grandchildren out of the Valley of Death, he said. I don't wish on anyone in the world the sight I saw. It is horrendous, beyond description, beyond comprehension".

The grandparents recalled the last time they saw Udi, Ruti and the children, a week and a half ago on Saturday night. They celebrated the start of the month of Adar Bet in Itamar, danced, sang and laughed.

At least they had a taste of Purim", said Udi's mother Tzila. "I didn't feel any premonitions. Why should I have thought that I will never see them again? I am not trying to remember if there was anything of that nature in my mind. We were happy together. We have photos of the children playing and happy".

The family is against any personal revenge or taking the law into civilian hands. Their slain children felt the same, they said, unequivocally.

The Ben Yishai home of Ruti's parents in Jerusalem, where the surviving grandchildren are now, is also crowded with comforters. After the mourning week is over, the family will decide where the children will live. Meanwhile, they are having difficulty in explaining to the youngest child what happened to his parents. "What shall we tell them?" they said. "What does a two-year-old understand when he cries over the loss of his parents? They tell us that children heal quickly, mentally and physically. We hope so". (IsraelNationalNews.com) Read more.

-- Please join us in lifting this sweet, young, courageous child before the Lord for comfort, for healing, and for strength.

In this world of increasing darkness, Tamar Fogel shines as a light of hope. Please pray that Yeshua would so fill this precious daughter with His love, His grace, and His presence . . . that she would indeed continue to shine the light of His goodness to all the world. Amen.

- "He will rescue the poor when they cry to him; he will help the oppressed, who have no one to defend them. He feels pity for the weak and the needy, and he will rescue them. He will redeem them from oppression and violence, for their lives are precious to him." (Psalm 72:12-14)

Update: Japan

by Mary Murphy

Intercessors,

The following two articles are from The Daily Mail, London. It is not just the articles but large still pictures of the devastation in Japan and the suffering of the people. The results of the earthquake and tsunami left the northern part of Japan suffering from destruction and in great misery. There is no way to describe the power of nature.

So many lives lost, so many left alone, thousands are homeless and so much lost in their resources and apparently, the needs are so great that the government cannot get to many of them to help. This is an advanced first world country that is in enormous distress and it may take a decade to come out of this.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO LIFT UP THE JAPANESE PEOPLE FOR STRENGTH, COMFORT AND MERCY. THEY ARE HELD CAPTIVE BY THIS TRAGEDY.

PLEASE PRAY THAT THEY FIND OUR SAVIOR IN THEIR DISTRESS.

Blessings, Mary

Prayers for Japan

Prayer of Repentance for Japan and the United States

Abba, today we stand in the gap on behalf of the nation of both Japan and the United States. Abba, your word says, "I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who curse you." (Gen 12:3). Your word also warns us that (Joel 3:2)"then I shall gather all nations, and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. And I shall enter into judgment with them there for my people, My inheritance, Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and they have divided up My land . . . "
Abba, truly America has earned your judgment as a people and as a nation for coming against Israel and for pushing, promoting and pressuring Israel to divide YOUR land. Your judgments are righteous and they are true. Abba, today we stand in the gap on behalf of America and Japan. Abba, in the midst of judgment, would you show mercy? We repent on behalf of this nation for the decrees and proclamations that have been made against Israel. Abba, would you forgive? Abba, would you have mercy? Abba, would you bring forth the salvation of MANY SOULS in the midst of this tragedy. Father, please be with the rescue workers as try to get the nuclear reactors under control. Please be with the people of Japan who have suffered tremendous loss. Please be with them as they cry out to you.

And now, Abba, we know and understand that the United States is next. We know that your judgment for our treachery and betrayal of our ties to Israel will bring down your judgment. Abba, we stand in the gap today for this betrayal of Israel, for our turning against Israel. Abba, we REPENT today for this action/decision of our nation. We REPENT for this, we weep over our sins. Abba, we know that this will not stop your hand of judgment, but perhaps it might LESSEN the effects. We ask for MERCY in the MIDST of judgment. Would you cover and PROTECT your people who are called by your name? Would you miraculously protect your people? Even as one building was left standing in the total destruction of Jericho, would you leave Goshen pockets of supernatural protection for your people? Abba, in your mercy, would you please protect the West Coast from possible radiation exposure from nuclear reactor accidents in Japan?

We proclaim that our hope, our defense, and our protection is in you. You are our High Tower, our shield, our defender in this situation. We cry out to you Abba. We ask for mercy in the midst of your righteous judgment. We ask for many souls to turn to you in these dark days of distress . . .
In the name of Yeshua HaMashiach, AMEN
