The Daily Brief - Thursday, July 7, 2011

"Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand." (James 5:8)

The Daily Brief

1. Iran Waiting in the Wings - Fox News

Improvised rocket assisted munitions made in Tehran, favored by the Iranian trained Shia militias in Iraq, are placed on the back of flatbed trucks. Their target: U.S. military personnel and their bases in Iraq as the remaining U.S. forces prepare to leave the nation by the end of December.

Fifteen Americans were killed in June, the deadliest month for U.S. personnel serving in Iraq in more than two years. And some say Iranian influence is showing up more and more in attacks on troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

- Father, we take authority over the insidious plans to take over Iraq as America departs. We thank You that no secret is hidden from You, so we ask that You unleash Angelic forces to bring defeat to our enemies. We erect a hedge of protection around our troops, and pray for the government of Iraq to become stable and democratic.

- "He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence; and precious shall be their blood in His sight." (Psalm 72:14)

2. IAEA concerned over Iran plans to triple uranium production - Jerusalem Post

The UN nuclear chief said on Wednesday that he planned to meet with Iran's foreign minister next week and that he was "quite concerned" over plans by Tehran to triple uranium production capacity.

- Father, as You smote Herod and Nebudchadnezzer for their arrogance, we ask that You deal with Mr. Ahmadinejad in the same way. We ask for Your extreme intervention against Iran's nuclear program, that Your protection would reign supreme over the region.

-"And I will smite your bow out of your left hand, and will cause your arrows to fall out of your right hand." (Ezekiel 39:3)

3. Russia to Spend $730 Billion on New Weapons - VOA News

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has announced his government plans to spend hundreds of billions of dollars on weapons modernization by 2020. In his address to parliament earlier this year, Putin said Russia must be strong enough to fend off any threats from abroad, so missile production will double starting in 2013.

- Father, as we see Gog and Magog preparing for the future, we thank You that Your Word has promised protection. We rejoice that Your hand will be revealed in the sight of all nations.

-"Thus will I magnify Myself, and sanctify Myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the Lord." (Ezekiel 38:23)

4. CAN fears Nigerian Islamization via Banking

The Christian Association of Nigeria said a proposal by the Central Bank of Nigeria to introduce Islamic Banking is part of a hidden agenda by Moslems to Islamize the nation.

- We can see that the deception of Islamic finances is not only seeping into Nigeria, but our own Wall Street as well. With new Islamic avenues creeping across the globe in banking practices, pray that the Lord will raise up a standard against it.

-"So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against Him." (Isaiah 59:19)

5. A) Bomb Implants Emerge as Airline Terror Threat - Wall Street Journal

Militants from al Qaeda's Yemeni branch are considering surgically implanting explosive devices in would-be suicide bombers, possibly with the aim of blowing up airliners, U.S. officials said Wednesday.

B) Anti-Terror Sensor that can Scan Crowds for Bombers Test in U.K. - NewsCore

A sensor that can scan huge crowds and pick out a lone suicide bomber by homing in on hidden explosives has undergone official tests, The Sun reported Thursday.

The revolutionary gadget -- similar to airport scanners but top secret -- is believed to silently analyze materials using the unique "terahertz" waves emitted by different substances.

British government scientists began testing it a year ago on mock crowds where one person in every 75 carried a "Person-Borne Improvised Explosive Device."

- Lord, we pray that Your eyes would continue to watch over the earth for those who would murder the innocent. We ask that new technologies be effective, and that security forces would intercept any plans for human IEDs around the world.

-"The Lord is in His holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven: His eyes behold, His eyelids try the children of men - Upon the wicked He shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest; this shall be the portion of their cup" (Psalm 11:4,6)

6. A) California lawmakers pass bill to teach gay history - Reuters

A bill to require California public schools to teach the historical accomplishments of gay men and lesbians passed the state Legislature on Tuesday in what supporters call a first for the nation.

B) Hillary: State Dept. 'Instrumental in Sealing Deal' For Lady Gaga's Gay Pride Gig in Rome - CNS News

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Monday that the State Department played an instrumental role in "sealing the deal" for pop-rock star Lady Gaga to perform at a gay pride rally in Rome, Italy.

- Pray that God will have His way in America, that He will send a move of His Holy Spirit for repentance and conviction of sin. May our leaders, our churches, and all of us fall to our knees and seek His face in humility.

- " He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment." (John 16:8)

7. Obama wants Debt Deal Today, Cuts Tomorrow - Fox News

Obama will propose to congressional leaders today a plan that trades an immediate increase to the federal government's $14.3 trillion credit limit and increased taxes in exchange for a bouquet of immediate and prospective spending cuts and tweaks to entitlement and welfare programs, including Medicare and Social Security.

Read more:

- Lord, on closer examination of this deal, the "cuts" proposed do not exist in a form that even makes a dent in America's current debt. We ask that You move on the leaders in Congress on both sides of the aisle to be wise in their dealings with the White House and not be deceived over fluffy compromises.

6. US envoy: 'Obama planning visit to Israel' - ICEJ News

US Ambassador to Israel James B. Cunningham told Israeli Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin on Tuesday that Obama plans to visit Israel, after Rivlin reportedly told him that "Israelis fear that the atmosphere in the White House has changed for the worse. The feeling is that Obama sees Israel as a burden, as opposed to a strategic asset. When Obama visited Egypt and the region, he chose not to come to Israel, and this bothered many Israelis. You cannot deny the public's feelings and try to change them through explanations." Cunningham assured his host that such fears are mistaken and that the President will visit Jerusalem soon, although he was unable to give a specific date.

7. EU to expand ties to Moslem Brotherhood - ICEJ News

Egypt's state-run Al-Ahram newspaper reported Monday that Michael Mann, spokesperson for EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, had declared the EU's willingness to enter talks with the Moslem Brotherhood organization. "We are always open to dialogue with anyone who is interested in democracy," Mann said. "It is important that everybody is given the time to form political parties so when elections happen it is pluralistic." He added that Ashton had already held meetings with MB representatives during recent visits to the country. Meanwhile, scattered reports point to a split in Brotherhood ranks between younger and older activists.

The purposeful dismantling of America

In the past few weeks, even months, several well respected radio talk show hosts have been saying that the president of the United States is doing all he can to destroy America--on purpose. With varying degrees of passion, they have been shouting out to anyone who will listen that the president is a Marxist and he is purposely dismantling every aspect of American society in order to force its citizens to become dependent on the government, which, in turn, will remake the government into a socialist entity. Some have even suggested that the opening of the door to all things Muslim plays into the Marxist plan because Islam is a strong armed socialist system.

The evidence is clear before the American people if the scales would fall off their eyes. Just yesterday, the president made history by being the first president to hold a town hall meeting on twitter. His charismatic and casual nature was a winner on camera, but there is just one hitch. He misrepresented the truth, especially on the issue of jobs and the economy. Here is what he said about White House salaries: " By the way, people who work in the White House, they've had their pay frozen since I came in, our high-wage folks. So they haven't had a raise in two and a half years, and that's appropriate, because a lot of ordinary folks out there haven't, either. In fact, they've seen their pay cut in some cases."

In truth, Gawker.com reports "Of the 270 White House staffers who have been there for more than a year, 146-or 54%-received raises. The average salary increase was 8%." In addition, the average White House salary of $81,765 was 65% above the median household income. On jobs the president said, "And over the last 15 months, we've actually seen two million jobs created in the private sector." His own handpicked Council of Economic Advisors reports that those 2.4 million jobs added or saved because of the stimulus program cost taxpayers $278,000 per job. The report indicates that in the past six months the economy has added or saved more jobs on its own than with the stimulus.

Moreover, unemployment has risen from 7.3 percent when the "stimulus" was under debate to 9.1 percent. Since the president took office debt has soared from just under $10 trillion to nearly $14.5 trillion. From the use of American resources to overthrow governments in favor of Islam to the dismantling of the American free market system, one can only conclude that this president is deliberately remaking America. Neither Congress nor the Judiciary seem interested in opposing it. It is the citizenry who must stand otherwise American freedom will be a footnote in history. Proverbs 29:2 is wisdom: "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked bear rule, the people mourn."

EPA Marches On

Today's New York Times reports that Obama's Environmental Protection Agency, a.k.a. the Employment Prevention Agency, is about to unleash "a flood of government mandates that will strike particularly hard at the manufacturing sector. "Let me repeat that point: the left-wing New York Times, not the Chamber of Commerce, characterized these Obama EPA mandates as being "particularly hard" on America's struggling manufacturing sector.

Moreover, the Times notes that the mandates "will affect every corner of the economy." The EPA will reportedly begin this assault on the economy tomorrow by "imposing tighter restrictions on . . . coal-burning power plants in 31 states . . . The regulation is expected to lead to the closing of several older power plants." In addition, there will be new regulations imposed on "many of those [power plants] that remain in operation."

It won't take long for the fundamentals of economics to take effect. When the supply of a product or commodity is diminished, its price goes up. When the cost of doing business is increased, companies often raise prices. In this case, the government is mandating both increased costs and less supply. Guess what is going to happen to your electricity bill and the power bills of many businesses?

Note to the national and state GOP offices: Get your press releases ready now. When these EPA mandates take effect and start hurting communities around the country, make sure folks connect the policies to the person in the White House and the party in Congress that is responsible for them! Cabin Fever at the RNC?

Is the Republican National Committee (RNC) telling social conservatives to take a hike? That's the perception that the Log Cabin Republicans are hoping voters will have based on the deceptive statements made by the homosexual group last week.

The Log Cabin group, which for years has tried to infiltrate the party with its radical homosexual agenda, claimed that its own director R. Clarke Cooper had been appointed to the RNC Finance Committee. In an interview with FrumForum, Cooper suggested that RNC's major donors no longer want to take positions on social issues. Adding a "prominent gay voice" to the Committee, he insists, would expand the number of LGBT checks to the GOP.

Like a lot of FRC supporters, who contacted me over the weekend, the news took me by surprise. Given how moderate the RNC had become under previous managements, appointing a man like Cooper to the Finance Committee seemed plausible. But knowing the current Chairman, Reince Preibus, this didn't add up. Chairman Preibus is about building an effective party--not making news that will cost you in the end. Considering the RNC's major donors only represent about 18 percent of the RNC's revenue, why would the Committee risk offending the other 82 percent--the majority of whom support the values in the platform?

Chairman Preibus called me over the weekend and assured me that Cooper was not on the payroll and had not been "appointed." He simply volunteered to be a part of an open group of individuals who will personally give the party $30,000 and try to raise $300,000 or more. The Loggers wanted the RNC to release a statement celebrating Cooper purchase of a seat on the finance committee, but it declined. Knowing that the Log Cabin group hasn't been truthful in its efforts to subvert the GOP's platform, their dishonesty about buying their way into the RNC should come as no surprise.

The Good News Corner - Part One!

America Prays Attention!

This past Sunday. over 1,050,000 people and churches across America united, knelt, and prayed in accordance with 2 Chronicles 7:14. They declared America's "dependence upon God" before celebrating our "independence" on Monday.

For example, at South Carolina 's Florence Baptist Temple, Pastor Bill Monroe led a patriotic service. Associate Pastor Clayton Simmons said hundreds flocked to the altar, falling to their knees in repentance; "it helped them to know they were praying with churches across America."

In Alliance Church, Ormond Beach, Florida, Pastor Doug Hautz devoted the entire service to repentance and prayer. Believers fell to their knees at the altar and in the pews.

Pastors across America were fervent in their leadership of Call2fall, each as they were led by the Holy Spirit. Many have said they plan to lead their churches in such prayer more often.

If you participated but never registered, or want to get a head start on next year, visit Call2Fall.com and click "I'm in." God, who answers this kind of prayer, is our nation's hope! Also, encourage others by sharing your Call2Fall experience at www.Call2Fall.com. (Source: Family Research Council)

Bachmann Lived on Kibbutz -- Staunchly Pro-Israel

For Rep. Michele Bachmann, staunch support for Israel is a personal matter: Teenage Bachmann spent a summer working on a kibbutz in Israel.

The 55-year-old Minnesota Republican, founder of the House Tea Party Caucus and a candidate for the GOP presidential nomination in 2012, went to Israel in 1974, immediately after graduating from high school. Her mission was sponsored by Young Life, a Christian ministry. "I always had this love and appreciation for Israel because I was a Christian," Bachmann, who was raised as a Lutheran, said in an interview with Matthew Continetti, opinion editor of The Weekly Standard. "It's the foundation of our faith. All of the Bible is about Israel."

The Israel she found in 1974 was "pretty grubby," she recalled - brutal heat, soldiers with guns at the airport, customs officers at card tables on the tarmac, chickens everywhere. The youth housing where Bachmann - then Michele Amble - lived on the kibbutz was called the ghetto. Lizards climbed the walls. She rose at 4 a.m. and rode to work on a flatbed truck pulled by an old diesel tractor. Her job: pulling weeds from cotton fields. Soldiers escorted the workers everywhere, searching for mines. "You're hoping at 4 o'clock in the morning that they see everything," she told Continetti.

The experience has never left Bachmann's mind. "If you consider what it was like in 1948," she said, "and literally watch flowers bloom in a desert over time - I don't know if any nation has paralleled the rise of Israel since 1948." Today, Bachmann is a member of Christians United for Israel and one of Israel's strongest supporters in Congress. She has visited the Jewish state several times since taking office. One Jewish Minnesota Republican has told Continetti of speeches at local Republican Jewish Coalition events where Bachmann has brought cheering audiences to their feet. (Newsmax) Read more.
