The Daily Brief - Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011

"The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD." (Proverbs 21:31)

The Daily Brief

1. Analysis: Ahmadinejad heads to UN weakened by rivals - Jerusalem Post

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad headed for the annual UN General Assembly on Monday with little scope for effective diplomacy, weakened by rivals at home maneuvering to prevent his words to the world being taken as Tehran's official stance.

- Father, we pray Ahmadinejad's words will not be heard at the UN General Assembly. May all those in attendance close off their ears when he speaks.

-" He who has a wayward and crooked mind finds no good, and he who has a willful and contrary tongue will fall into calamity." (Proverbs 17:20)

2. Obama Ends Ban on Homosexuals Openly Serving in Military - AP

The ban on gays in the military has stood for nearly a century, but effective today gay service members will be able to openly acknowledge their sexual orientation. The repeal of the ban also opens the door for those discharged over the past 17 years under Clinton's policy to re-apply to the military and possibly serve again.

- This is truly a black day in the history of our nation and of our military. Perversion was the sin that brought the wrath of God to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, and our Lord does not change. In repentance before His Throne of Grace, please decree: "O Lord, in Your wrath, please remember mercy." (Habakkuk 3:2) Amen.

3. Obama Proposes $3 Trillion Deficit, Debt Plan - VOA News

Presenting his second major set of economic proposals in 10 days, Obama has unveiled a plan for more than $3 trillion in spending reductions over the next decade, saying all Americans, and specifically the wealthy, will be asked to share the burden of fixing the economy. Republicans already are criticizing the proposals.

- Father, we ask Your mercy over these debt plans. Protect all citizens and businesses from burdensome tax increases. Give our leaders a plan that is for the people. We ask that our government will stop spending so Americans will not be asked to share in the burden!

- "Of what use is money in the hand of a self-confident fool to buy skillful and godly Wisdom - when he has no understanding or heart for it?" (Proverbs 17:16)

4. FACT CHECK: Are rich taxed less than secretaries? - AP

Obama makes it sound like there are millionaires all over America paying taxes at lower rates than their secretaries.

- Father, we pray people will check the facts before accepting what is reported. During this election campaign many claims will be made to win votes. Fill us with Your wisdom to guard against information that will tickle our ears.

- "Know this, that in the last days disastrous times will come. And men shall be lovers of themselves and lovers of money, proud, conceited, blasphemers, disobedient to their own people, ungrateful, wicked, false accusers, addicts of lust, brutal, haters of good things," (11 Timothy 3:1-3)

5. Federal Reserve is expected to announce new bond-buying program - LA Times

With the U.S. economy struggling, Fed policymakers are expected this week to announce a new bond-buying plan specifically aimed at pulling long-term interest rates lower.

- Father, give us supernatural wisdom regarding this economy. Guide our steps in all our decisions regarding money. May we act on Your Word and revelation from the Spirit, and not fear or emotion.

- "A man's steps are directed by the Lord; who is the man, then, who can direct his own way?" (Proverbs 20:24)

6. Global stock markets braced for further turmoil after S&P downgrades Italy - UK Telegraph

Global financial markets are bracing themselves for another day of turmoil on Tuesday after credit ratings agency Standard & Poor's downgraded Italy late on Monday night.

- Father, we continue to intercede over the world's economy, which affects our economy. We pray You lessen the "blow" which is expected in the downgrade of Italy. Protect our markets and keep them stable.

- "And there I will sustain and provide for you, so that you and your household and all that are yours may not come to poverty and want, - Also do not look with regret or concern upon your goods, for the best of all the land of Egypt is yours." (Genesis 45: 11,20)

7. Typhoon nears Japan, 1.3 m. told to evacuate - Jerusalem Post

More than 1.3 million people were advised to evacuate on Tuesday as typhoon Roke approached Japan, threatening the industrial city of Nagoya with heavy rain and landslides. The eye of the typhoon was 210 km east-southeast of the southern island of Tanegashima, moving east-northeast at 20 km per hour as of 5 p.m., the Meteorological Agency said.

- Once again, please lift up the people of Japan in prayer, especially those who are in the path of this storm. May God yet show His Hand of Mercy upon this beleaguered nation; and may many yet come to know our Lord as Savior. Amen.

- "You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat." (Isaiah 25:4)

The Middle East in Focus

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

"Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, He takes up the isles as a very little thing." (Is. 40:15)

1. Palestinians will submit U.N. membership letter - USA Today

The Palestinians said they will submit an application for full U.N. membership on Friday, the first step in a process to a declaration of statehood that has already sparked a frenzy of diplomatic activity and vows of a U.S. veto in the Security Council.

2. Arabs in East Jerusalem conflicted about Palestinian state - USA Today

A poll by the Palestinian Center for Public Opinion this year indicated that Arab East Jerusalemites are split about who they want controlling the territory where they live. Asked whether they preferred to become a citizen of a future Palestinian state, "with all the rights and privileges of other citizens of Palestine," or a citizen of Israel, with the rights and privileges of Israelis, 30% said they would choose Palestinian citizenship; 35% Israeli citizenship; and 35% either declined to answer or said they didn't know.

3. Palestinian President Abbas meets UN Chief, reaffirms push for statehood - Ha'aretz

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas told UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Monday that he would push ahead with plans to seek full UN membership for a Palestinian state, a move the United States and Israel say could lead to disaster.

4. UAV that can reach Iran to take flight by end of year - Jerusalem Post

The Israel Air Force will boost its intelligence-gathering capabilities by the end of the year as it moves forward with plans to begin operating the Heron TP, Israel's largest unmanned aerial vehicle, capable of flying as far as Iran.

5. PMO Briefs Foreign Press on PA Statehood Bid- Israel National News

The Prime Minister's Spokesman for Foreign Press, Mark Regev, convened foreign journalists in Israel Tuesday for a special briefing as the Palestinian Authority (PA) prepares to ask for independence. Regev said that the PA is acting in complete contravention of its previous agreements with Israel and that this abrogation of treaties "gives Israel the right to a proper reaction in accordance with developments on the ground."

The Daily Jot - Part One

A serious prophetic warning to the Church

Revelation 13:12 says of the second beast, the beast considered the false prophet of the antichrist, "And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed." This is generally considered the verse where the one world religion rises to power under the antichrist. There is a warning in verses 9 and 10: "If any man have an ear, let him hear. He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints." The call for Palestinian statehood is at the very least a type and shadow of these prophecies.

It is not so much the demand for a Palestinian state--one that to date does not recognize the right of Israel to exist; has adopted the terrorist group Hamas; holds to the doctrine of the destruction of Israel; and would cut Israel into two pieces--but that those who are demanding it are called Christian as well as Islamic. AFP reports: "A joint statement by Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican and Lutheran priests pledged their "support for the diplomatic efforts being deployed to win international recognition for the State of Palestine... on the June 1967 borders with Jerusalem as our capital."" As it currently stands, demands for a Palestinian state include the division of Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.

Islamic eschatology promotes the 12th Imam, known as the Mahdi, to return in the end days and establish the peace and justice of Islam over earth for a period of seven years. During this time, Islamic eschatology say the Islamic Caliphate will be established worldwide and Sharia will be the law of the land. Christians and Jews will be slaughtered or will convert to Islam. Islam believes that the Mahdi will have a prophet. His name is Jesus. The Islamic Jesus will deny Judaism and Christianity and proclaim Islam as the one world religion. This eschatology is strikingly similar to prophecies of the Bible that describe the antichrist and the false prophet.

Those in the Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican and Lutheran churches who are advocating the division of Jerusalem through a Palestinian state are assisting the designs of an Islamic Caliphate, a one world order under a satanic government disguised as a religion. In effect, they are leading into captivity. Revelation 14:2 defines the patience and the faith of the saints as "they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus." Let him who has an ear, hear: Jesus said in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." Christian churches joining with Islam to divide Jerusalem will lead to captivity and death. Galatians 5:1 says, "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."

The Daily Jot - Part Two

When the darkness of deception overcomes the light of peace

In the days ahead of the United Nations meeting where the Palestinian Authority will independently seek official statehood for land in Israel, the Saudis are paying the Palestinians $200 million to make up a shortfall it needs to become a nation. This is an interesting development. The Saudis are ostensibly against the terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah, which are prominently a part of the whole Palestinian movement in Israel. The news media likes to portray the wealthy Saudi Arabia as a moderate Arab state in the Middle East, an ally of the United States. In reality, it was terrorists from Saudi Arabia who hijacked the airplanes and ran them into the Pentagon and the World Trade Center towers on 9/11.

There is so much that defies common sense and logic with regard to carving a "Palestinian" state out of Israel. Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and all the other state actors surrounding Israel have enough useless land themselves that they could deed it over to the "Palestinians" if they were really concerned that their Arab brothers needed their own country. But, no, it has to be a state dividing Israel. If there were ever a perfect example that can be used of what will happen with Israel when a Palestinian state is created, Gaza is it. In August 2005, then Prime Minister Ariel Sharon ordered the eviction of some 8,500 Jewish settlers still remaining from 21 settlements in Gaza.

The peaceful Palestinians shot at the Israeli settlers as they were removed. Shortly afterwards, the Palestinians ransacked the productive greenhouses and buildings left by the Jews. Then they set up terrorist operations and began firing missiles into Israel--not at military installations, but at unwalled villages that heretofore had lived in peace. Five months later, Sharon suffered a stroke that has left him in a coma. Hamas has used Gaza as a staging ground for terrorist activities. Since the "liberation" of Egypt supported by the US government, Egypt has strengthened relations with Hamas and Hezbollah and there has been reports of increased weapons smuggling into the "Palestinian" held territories.

Whether it is Saudi Arabia or Egypt or Iran, who have differing views of Islam and in a vacuum would kill one another over it, they are united on one thing: hatred for Israel and Jews. This hate supersedes any relationship with any ally, and any intolerance for any political system or religious belief. Anyone with any sense at all can see it. Yet church leaders, leaders of nations, and even some Jews believe that splitting Israel into two pieces and sharing Jerusalem with terrorists whose mission is to destroy Israel will bring about peace. What folly! The Lord says in Jeremiah 8:11, "For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, "Peace, peace; when there is no peace." But there is plenty of deception.

Update: U.N. Schedules

As you well might understand, the situation behind closed doors at the United Nations, and with its published agenda, can at best be described as "fluid."

The following information has been gleaned from sources on the inside. Thank you.

WEDNESDAY

Correction: Prime Minister Netanyahu will not be addressing the General Assembly today. Instead, he will meet with President Obama at a reception that evening.

-- Pray that every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the President of the United States of America be true, with no guile intended. Pray that our president will hold true to his promise to veto the probable vote on the Palestinian State to be taken later this week.

THURSDAY

--Netanyahu will meet with various world leaders, who will be attending the General Assembly meeting . . . focusing on those 15 nations, who are also part of the Security Council. His effort will be directed toward dissuading those nations from voting in favor of the Palestinian request. This may mean asking for an abstention from the vote, to keep the number of 9 "yes" votes, required to pass a resolution in the Security Council from being given.

- Pray for the following nations to abstain or to vote NO: US, Britain, France, Germany, Portugal, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Columbia, Gabon, and Nigeria. The following countries have already declared their willingness to vote for the Palestinian request: India, Brazil, South Africa, Lebanon, China, and Russia. Pray that the Lord would deal with them, and change their course. Pray for Bibi to have success in everything that aligns with the way, will and word of the God of Israel.

FRIDAY

Mahmoud Abbas will deliver his speech to the General Assembly, likely making his request to the Security Council known to the full body of the UN. He will then deliver his formal request to Ban Ki-moon, the General Secretary of the UN. That request could move forward to/through the Security Council very quickly or slowly, depending upon what happens in the committee receiving the request.

Following the speech by Abbas, Netanyahu will present his speech to the General Assembly; stating Israel's desire for peace, her right to exist, and her legal claim to the Land. He will speak the truth, and allow the Lord to judge the nations by their response to it.

Pray that the speech of Abbas will fail to win support for the PA bid for statehood and UN membership. Tie up his tongue, Lord, and cause his mind to swirl in his foolishness until he is unable to speak. Cause any petition to the General Assembly or to the Security Counsel to die at the starting gate, or crawl toward an unattainable finish line.

Pray for Netanyahu's speech to be extraordinarily filled with the Holy Spirit's anointing; causing him to speak the truth far beyond his ability or forethought. Pray the favor of the Lord to be upon this man as he speaks. Break all witchcraft being sent against him, against his government, against his family, and against his Godly advisors.

SUNDAY

The Israeli delegation returns home.

Please cover the members of this delegation in prayer throughout their journey this week. The Israeli leaders present in the USA this week are:

Ehud Barak (Defense Minister), Avigdor Lieberman (Foreign Minister), Yuval Steinitz (Finance Minister), Gilad Erdan (Environmental Protection Minister), Yuli Edelstein (Public Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs Minister), and Danny Ayalon (Deputy Foreign Minister). Also involved in the activities is Ambassador, Michael Oren (Israel's envoy to Washington).

ONE MORE CONCERN:

Anytime this week but mainly after the UN meetings, the Israeli police and military expect potential violence from pro-Palestinian protesters and demonstrators in favor of the PA Statehood bid. These protests could quickly escalate as the Israelis try to contain them from spilling out into Jewish areas. If the bid of the PA fails or is delayed, there would be a violent display of frustration and rage from out of Gaza . . . and throughout Judea and Samaria. Suicide bombers could come forth, even as many rockets could begin to fly.

-- Pray that the Lord would keep His hand upon all the Palestinian protest plans, and upon any strategies intending to incite violence and death. Pray that the Lord would put up a high firewall against incoming suicide bombers, roadside bombs, and against any other act of terror. Pray that our bordering neighbor nations would not take advantage of our government's absence; starting a war with Israel, by making a deadly surprise attack.
