1. BOEHNER: HOUSE TO VOTE TUESDAY ON PAYROLL TAX BILL

The House will vote on the GOP proposal to extend the payroll tax cut on Tuesday, Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) has announced. At a Monday press conference, Boehner said the bill should be approved with bipartisan support. Boehner noted that most of the provisions paying for the cost of extending the tax cut and federal unemployment benefits were once proposed by President Obama. "Tomorrow the House will vote on the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act - a bill that should pass with bipartisan support," Boehner said. (The Hill) Read more.

-
Pray for passage. (For more information on the fine points of this bill, go here.)

- "And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."
(Mt.21:22)

2. 25 HOUSE-PASSED JOBS BILLS STUCK IN DEMOCRATIC-RUN SENATE

The House passed three more common-sense jobs bills last week, bringing the current number of jobs bills awaiting a vote in the Democratic-controlled Senate to 25. Each of these bills is focused on removing government barriers - excessive regulations, the threat of tax hikes, and 'stimulus' spending policies - that are hurting job growth, and many have bipartisan support. Speaker Boehner has called on President Obama to "urge Senate Democrats to immediately vote" on the 25 jobs bills before them. This week the House is scheduled to consider two more, including the REINS Act. (Speaker Boehner's Press Office) For the full list of these bills, go here.

- Although we try to avoid political statements in our intercession, this report demonstrates a true lack of balance in the legislative branch, and the need for increased dialogue and debate between the two parties. Father, have mercy upon us. Move upon our officials to have a change of heart and work together; and put aside pride and arrogance. May these Jobs Bills be voted upon quickly so that Americans will be helped and aided in finding the jobs they need. Give us leaders in Washington that know how to work together and motivate each other. Give us leaders who put aside emotion and competition; and find working solutions to problems that our country is facing. Fill our country with the peace of God ,which includes well-being in every area. Let us intercede on behalf of our Senate and House officials so that we may have a quiet and peaceful life.

- "First of all, I encourage you to make petitions, prayers, intercessions, and prayers of thanks for all people, for rulers, and for everyone who has authority over us. Pray for these people so that we can have a quiet and peaceful life always lived in a godly and reverent way."
(1 Timothy 2:1-2)

3. SENATOR RAND PAUL KILLS DETAINEE AMENDMENT

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Thursday - simply by asking for a recorded vote - managed to kill an amendment that would have clarified that the military can indefinitely detain enemy combatants. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), called the amendment to the floor, explaining it ought to garner the support of all senators because it would simply "clarify" that enemy combatants acquitted of crimes in a court can still be held in military detention until they are no longer deemed a threat.

Looking to spare vulnerable Democrats from an awkward vote on the controversial issue of extra-judicial military detention, Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin (D-Mich.), with the assent of his Republican counterpart John McCain (R-Ariz.), attempted to swiftly pass the amendment by unanimous consent. "I think that this can be accepted on voice vote," Levin said, when Sessions finished presenting the amendment. "I have great problems with it, but I think there is probably a majority here that will favor it."

But from across the chamber, Paul demanded a recorded vote on the amendment, which resulted in a resounding 41-59 defeat. "I am going to ask for the yays and nays," Paul said, surprising leaders.

Both McCain and Levin, who indicated moments before that they would agree to passage of the measure by unanimous consent, voted against it in that roll-call vote. (The Hill) Read more.
[Background - regarding passage of H.R. 1540: the National Defense Authorization Act]

Libertarians and conservatives wary of big government are speaking out against the bill as well."If the president thinks you are a terrorist, let him present charges and evidence to a judge," Libertarian Party Chair Mark Hinkle said in a statement Friday. "He has no authority to lock you up without any judicial review, just because he and Congress believe he should have unlimited power. That is the kind of power held by tyrants in totalitarian regimes. It has no place in the United States."

Echoing arguments against federal government power made by his father, presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul (R) of Texas, Sen. Rand Paul (R) of Kentucky spoke forcefully against the measure: "We are talking about people who are merely suspected of a crime, and we are talking about American citizens. If these provisions pass, we could see American citizens being sent to Guantánamo Bay."

- Offer praise for the courage of this new senator from the State of Kentucky. By demanding a full, recorded roll call vote, Senator Rand has stripped language from this authorization bill that would have denied our citizens our rights to habeas corpus under the Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution. Praise God!

- "The wicked man flees though no one pursues,t but the righteous are bold as a lion." (Proverbs 28:1)

4. FEMA ACTIVATES DETENTION CAMPS IN ALL 50 STATES

. . . Just days after the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act, reports are surfacing that the Federal Emergency Management Agency, under the auspices of the Department of Homeland Security, is requisitioning private contractors to provide services for government, defense & infrastructure pertaining specifically to FEMA activities with respect to emergency services. . . For all intents and purposes, FEMA / DHS is now activating camps across the nation - in all 50 states - and ramping them up for detainment if and when the need arises.

At first glance, this may seem like no big deal. Why shouldn't the government prepare for emergencies?

. . . Our government is, without a doubt, preparing for an event(s) that will likely result in the mass detentions of tens of thousands of individuals across the entire United States. (The Western Center for Journalism - WCJ) Read more.

[Editor's note: This article from WCJ links to a secondary site. We regret the name of that site, but feel this information is valid enough, and serious enough, to warrant your attention and your prayers. Thank you.]

- Pray that the Lord will cover these "camps" with His power and Blood to prevent them from being used for internment of American citizens who do not agree with the administration.

- "He routed His enemies and sent them to eternal shame."
[Psalm 78:66 NLT]

5. WHITE HOUSE OUTLINES PLAN AGAINST "HOMEGROWN" EXTREMIST THREATS

The Obama administration on Thursday released an implementation plan for intensified efforts to counter so-called "homegrown" violent extremism in the United States.

The 20-page report is called the Strategic Implementation Plan for Empowering Local Partners to Prevent Violent Extremism in the United States. It describes specific steps to strengthen and expand cooperation with officials in communities across the country that might be targeted by violent extremists.

Hussein Obama signed off on the overall national strategy to fight violent extremism last August. The implementation plan comes six months after a broader National Strategy for Counterterrorism that discussed threats from al-Qaida followers, who it noted sometimes are U.S. citizens, engaged in terrorism such as the 2009 shootings at the Fort Hood, Texas military base.

The implementation plan says countering violent extremism and terrorism inspired by al-Qaida, its affiliates and its adherents is a top priority. It notes that other forms of violent extremism will not be ignored, and mentions as an example the attacks in Norway in July, saying, "free societies face threats from a range of violent extremists." (Voice of America) Read more.

- Father, this whole subject of "homegrown violent extremism" in our nation is of much concern to us all. We pray for discernment and wisdom to be given to our Congressmen/women, and to our Senators. May our Constitution be followed to the letter in this regard, and the rights of every citizen be honored and enforced for all, until "due process" would occur, proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. We know, that in the wrong hands, Bible-believing Christians could be "lumped" into this category of "extremism", and our rights could be taken away. We pray that this would not happen, and that Godly men and women will stand up for right, and that You would not let them be forsaken! Thank You, for our vindication comes from You!

- "No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me, declares the LORD." (Isaiah 54:17)

6. SENATOR TO OBAMA: FT HOOD ATTACK NOT "WORKPLACE VIOLENCE"

During a joint session of the House and Senate Homeland Security Committees on December 7th, Senator Susan Collins (R-MA) blasted a letter by the Department of Defense labeling the Fort Hood jihad attack by Major Nidal Hasan, as a case of workplace violence. Hasan killed 14 people including an unborn child and wounded 29 others on November 5th 2009. (Religious Freedom Coalition; Breitbart) Read more.

- Thank You Lord Jesus, that the truth is breaking forth despite extreme maneuvers to minimize and deny what truly was going on in this jihadist attack. We come before Your throne and plead for Your protection and strength to be in the midst of this confrontation, where truth is being spoken out. Let Your truth and Justice continue to rise up in our nation, in our public and private areas, exposing the dark plots of the enemy of our souls, Hallelujah, Amen and Amen.

- "Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and all its fullness; Let the field be joyful, and that is in it. Then all the trees of the woods will rejoice before the Lord. For He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with His truth." (Psalm 96:11-13)

7. OBAMA CHAMPIONS ISLAM YET FAVORS GAYS

Other than Moslems and Jews no groups could be further at odds than Moslems and homosexuals. In both Saudi Arabia and Iran, homosexuals have in recent times been publicly hung. In sections of London where Sharia law is enforced, signs are posted warning homosexuals to stay out or face "justice." The Obama Administration, with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at the fore, wants to wage an international diplomatic war for homosexual "rights."

On December 6th at a conference in Geneva, Switzerland attended by diplomats from all over the world including Arab nations, Secretary Clinton compared the struggle for "gay equality" to women's rights and racial equality. She said that a nation's cultural or religious "traditions" are not an excuse for discrimination against homosexuals. "Gay rights are human rights, and human rights are gay rights," she said.

On the same day, in Washington, Hussein Obama has in effect ordered U.S. agencies to import homosexuals from all over the world who are "threatened." Thus anyone who walks into a U.S. embassy anywhere in the world where homosexual activities (including gay marriage) are illegal, can claim to be gay and be immediately put at the front of the line to immigrate to the United States. How, after all, could officials disprove a person's "gayness?" At the same time he has opened the gates to Islamic "refugees." (Religious Freedom Coalition) Read more.

- Pray that this sinful Presidential "order" will be dismissed, or that it will be challenged at the Supreme Court.

- "What sorrow for those who say that evil is good and good is evil; that dark is light and light is dark, that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter." [Isaiah 5:20 NLT]

8. CONGRESSMAN CONSIDERS IMPEACHMENT . . . OF ERIC HOLDER

A Republican congressman raised the possibility of impeachment in House Judiciary Committee hearings today, striking fear into the heart of one of the most radical Democrats in Congress.

Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-WI, questioned Attorney General Eric Holder Thursday about Operation Fast and Furious, bluntly raising the specter of impeachment, apparently of Holder. However, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-TX, sought clarification out of concern Sesenbrenner had threatened to impeach Barack Obama.

The exchange came as Sensenbrenner asked Holder who was responsible for the Justice Department's misleading Congress about the gun-running operation. Lying, Sensenbrenner reminded him is a felony. "I don't want to say that you have committed a felony, Mr. Attorney General, but obviously there have been statements so misleading that a letter had to be withdrawn," he said. "I think some heads should roll."

"Nobody in the Justice Department has lied," Holder insisted, because everyone lacked the "requisite intent to come up with something that would be considered perjury or a lie." However, a letter sent to Congress "was withdrawn because there was information that was in there that was inaccurate."

"There is really no responsibility in the Justice Department," Sensenbrenner said. "If we don't get to the bottom of this, and that requires your assistance, there is only one alternative that Congress has, and it's called impeachment." He said impeachment "is an expensive and messy affair, and I don't want to go this far, but if we keep on getting pushed down the road, and we don't get closure to this, what is Congress to do?" (The Western Center for Journalism) Read more. [Includes video clip of this exchange.]

- Pray that Mr. Holder will be removed from office. His track record for the rights of Americans and the travesty of the guns to Mexican Drug Cartels should preclude him from holding the office of Attorney General.

- ". . . the powerful are not what they appear to be. If you weigh them on the scales, together they are lighter than a breath of air." [Psalm 62:9b NLT]

9. AUDIT OF FEDERAL RESERVE REVEALS $16 TRILLION IN SECRET BAILOUTS

The first ever GAO (Government Accountability Office) audit of the Federal Reserve was carried out in the past few months due to the Ron Paul, Alan Grayson Amendment to the Dodd-Frank bill, which passed last year. Jim DeMint, a Republican Senator, and Bernie Sanders, an independent Senator, led the charge for a Federal Reserve audit in the Senate, but watered down the original language of the house bill (HR1207), so that a complete audit would not be carried out. Ben Bernanke, Alan Greenspan, and various other bankers vehemently opposed the audit and lied to Congress about the effects an audit would have on markets. Nevertheless, the results of the first audit in the Federal Reserve's nearly 100 year history were posted on Senator Sander's webpage earlier this morning.

What was revealed in the audit was startling . . .

When you have conservative Republican stalwarts like Jim DeMint(R-SC) and Ron Paul(R-TX) as well as self identified Democratic socialists like Bernie Sanders all fighting against the Federal Reserve, you know that it is no longer an issue of Right versus Left. When you have every single member of the Republican Party in Congress and progressive Congressmen like Dennis Kucinich sponsoring a bill to audit the Federal Reserve, you realize that the Federal Reserve is an entity onto itself, which has no oversight and no accountability.

To view the 266-page GAO audit of the Federal Reserve (July 21st, 2011), go here.

Read Senator Sander's commentary here

- Dear Abba Father, unfortunately this audit confirms the extreme lawlessness and greed that has impacted our nation for the past 100 years. It has been an ever-growing distortion of what our Founding Fathers intended for this nation. We fall before You in repentance and plead for mercy on this nation, Lord. Direct our ways, Lord, as we bind and rebuke these lies, distortions and schemes, and we loose honesty, integrity and Your truth into this situation, in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry. The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth."
(Psalm 34:15-16)

10. SUPREME COURT TO CONSIDER ARIZONA IMMIGRATION LAW

The Supreme Court announced Monday they will hear a challenge to Arizona's controversial immigration laws, setting up another high-profile decision for the court's coming term.

Arizona asked the Court to allow the state to enforce legislation that has been blocked by lower courts after being challenged by the Obama administration, including provisions that would enable police officers to question a person's immigration status if they suspect they are in the country illegally. The law would also make it a crime to not carry proof of legal immigration status, make it against state law for an illegal immigrant to seek employment, and allow police to detain those suspected of being illegal immigrants without a warrant. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals blocked each of those provisions in April.

"I would like to commend the U.S. Supreme Court for its decision to review and hear arguments pertaining to the federal court injunction," said Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer in a statement Monday. "I am confident the High Court will uphold Arizona's constitutional authority and obligation to protect the safety and welfare of its citizens." (The Hill) Read more.

- Offer up a chorus of praise that the Supreme Court will, indeed, hear this case. Begin to pray now for the nine Justices of the Supreme Court, as they begin the research needed to hear and then to judge this case fairly. May they be led of the Lord in ultimately rendering this decision, for the good and for the protection of our people and of the rights of our states to also move to protect its citizens, when necessary.

- "For the LORD is our judge, The LORD is our lawgiver, The LORD is our king; He will save us."
(Isaiah 33:22)

11. U.S. PROPOSES UNMANNED BORDER ENTRY WITH MEXICO

The bloody drug war in Mexico shows no sign of relenting. Neither do calls for tighter border security amid rising fears of spillover violence.

This hardly seems a time the U.S. would be willing to allow people to cross the border legally from Mexico without a customs officer in sight. But in this rugged, remote West Texas terrain where wading across the shallow Rio Grande undetected is all too easy, federal authorities are touting a proposal to open an unmanned port of entry as a security upgrade.

A public comment period runs through Dec. 27 on the estimated $2.3 million project, which has support at the highest levels of government from both countries.

But U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul, a Texas Republican member of the House Homeland Security committee, questioned the wisdom of using resources to make it easier to cross the border.
"We need to use our resources to secure the border rather than making it easier to enter in locations where we already have problems with illegal crossings," McCaul said in an email. "There is more to the oversight of legal entry than checking documents. (U.S. Customs and Border Protection) needs to be physically present at every point of entry in order to inspect for contraband, detect suspicious behavior and, if necessary, act on what they encounter." (Fox News) Read more.

- Offer praise that at least one member of Congress has not lost track of his senses regarding the issue of border security! Ask that millions of Americans be made aware of this travesty, and for a groundswell of opposition to be raised up during the comment period. Pray!

- "Your people will volunteer freely in the day of Your power. . . " (Psalm 110:3 NAS)

12. OBAMA ON U.S. FORCES IN IRAQ: "THOSE DAYS ARE OVER"

Marking the final departure of U.S. forces from Iraq after abandoning a security framework that called for an ongoing military presence there, President Obama said Monday the United States is prepared to help Iraq's national security -- not with troops but through training and trade.

Appearing in Washington with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki at his side, Obama said of the U.S. war to liberate the country and tamp down an al Qaeda insurgency: "Those days are over."

As of late last week, the number of U.S. troops in Iraq had dwindled to about 6,000, down from 170,000 at the war's peak in 2007. Troops are expected to be completely pulled out by year's end.

"This is an historic moment, a war is ending," Obama said. (Fox News) Read more.
- We can expect to hear lots of news about the troops coming "home for the holidays" in the next two weeks. Although this is a joyous occasion for most, we repent that the return of our troops after nine years on this very difficult battlefield is now being used as a political tool. Pray for the troops, but be wary of deception. We have a man in the White House who will go to desperate measures to be re-elected in a second term. Pray!

- "Pray without ceasing . . ."
(I Thess. 5:17)

Special Report: The Drone in Iran

1.    DRONE CRASH UNMASKS U.S. SPYING EFFORT IN IRAN
2.    IRAN NEARLY FINISHED DECODING U.S. DRONE
3.    BOLTON: IRANIAN JAMMING TECHNOLOGY COULD BE WORSE NEWS THAN DOWNED DRONE
4.    PRAYER POINTS FROM INTERCESSORS FOR ISRAEL
5.    PRAYER POINTS FROM CHPP

1. DRONE CRASH UNMASKS U.S. SPYING EFFORT IN IRAN

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The crash of a CIA drone in Iran has brought into the open what U.S. intelligence agencies would prefer kept secret: intense spying efforts in a country where the United States has no official presence.

Iran on Thursday aired with great flourish footage of the captured drone, which appeared largely intact. Pentagon and CIA spokesmen would not comment on whether it was the missing U.S. RQ-170 Sentinel unmanned aircraft.

A person familiar with the situation confirmed that the drone that crashed was on a surveillance mission over Iran. . . U.S. surveillance of Iran through various means has been going on for years, U.S. officials and others with direct knowledge of the situation say. (Reuters)

2. IRAN NEARLY FINISHED DECODING U.S. DRONE

Iranian experts are in the final stages of recovering data from the U.S. surveillance drone captured by the country's armed forces, state TV reported Monday. Tehran has flaunted the drone's capture as a victory for Iran and a defeat for the United States in a complicated intelligence and technological battle.

American officials have said that U.S. intelligence assessments indicate that Iran neither shot the drone down, nor used electronic or cybertechnology to force it from the sky. They contend the drone malfunctioned. The officials spoke anonymously in order to discuss the classified program.

U.S. officials are concerned others may be able to reverse-engineer the chemical composition of the drone's radar-deflecting paint or the aircraft's sophisticated optics technology that allows operators to positively identify terror suspects from tens of thousands of feet in the air.
They are also worried adversaries may be able to hack into the drone's database, although it is not clear whether any data could be recovered. Some surveillance technologies allow video to stream through to operators on the ground but do not store much collected data. If they do, it is encrypted.

"Iran will make the world unsafe," if the world attacks Iran, Sorouri said.

Both the U.S. and Israel have not rule out military option against Iran's controversial nuclear program, which the West suspects is aimed at making atomic weapons. Iran denies the charge, saying its nuclear activities are geared toward peaceful purposes like power generation. (Fox News) Read more.

3. BOLTON: IRANIAN JAMMING TECHNOLOGY COULD BE WORSE NEWS THAN DOWNED DRONE

American officials insist that neither weaponry nor technology brought down a U.S. drone that was flying over Iranian territory earlier this month, but a former U.S. ambassador says if reports are true that Russia provided jamming equipment, the situation becomes all that much worse.

"Some reports have said Russia sold (Iran) a very sophisticated jamming system a short time ago," U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton told Fox News on Sunday. "Now, our military says that is not true, it came down because of a malfunction. I certainly hope that's right because if the Russians have provided Iran with sophisticated jamming equipment it means a lot else is at risk too."

Bolton said Congress ought to be concerned if the Iranians are in possession of jamming technology that can bring down missiles, planes and communications and guidance systems "for a whole range of our weapon systems." (Fox News) Read more.

4. PRAYER POINTS FROM INTERCESSORS FOR ISRAEL

In the past week a US drone, an unmanned, reconnaissance aircraft came down in Iran and is being shown off by the Iranians. This piece of equipment is the very latest in technology and its loss represents a major coup for the Iranians over the USA. In accepting the loss without any action President Obama gave a clear signal that he is afraid to enter into a conflict with Iran. This is, in turn, a clear message to Israel's leaders that we stand alone and we cannot expect any military action from Obama against Iran. We prayed:

- That Israel's leaders would recognize this message from Obama and understand its consequences for Israel.

- That our enemies knowledge of the technology used in the drone would not be able to be used against Israel.

- For clarity and boldness in knowing what Israel needs to do.

5. PRAYER POINTS FROM CAPITOL HILL PRAYER PARTNERS

In addition to the insights offered from our friends in Israel, above, we offer these points as well:
a. Our nation no longer is able to cry out to our God for mercy, for our wickedness has reached His Throne, and our judgment is sure. But we know our God to be a God of mercy . . . mercy . . . mercy, and on THAT basis, we do cry out for our safety and protection. (PSALM 91)

b. Pray that, in spite of the press releases now coming out of Iran, neither that nation nor its allies (Russia and China, in particular) would have the technology, indeed, to decode the internal schematics of this drone. Hence, pray that they would then be able to build their own drones, to be used against us. (JOB 38:11)

c. Most importantly, intercede that our Lord would use these perilous times for His redemptive and divine purpose: when men's hearts are filled with fear, we turn to Him. Pray for the salvation of the people of Iran; and for the protection of believers on the land, who are ready to bring the Gospel to them. Amen. (JOEL 3:14)

1. NETANYAHU RE-ESTABLISHES P.M. BIBLE CLASS

Taking a page out of David Ben-Gurion and Menachem Begin's playbook, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will begin hosting a regular Bible study group in his official residence for researchers, public officials and invited guests. Netanyahu announced the establishment of the study circle on Friday at a ceremony marking 30 days since the passing of his father-in-law, Shmuel Ben-Artzi. The study group will be named after Ben-Artzi, a noted poet and Bible teacher. (Jerusalem Post) Read more.

- Offer praise for this glorious report! The Word of God is true and cannot lie; and is the lamp unto our feet and the light unto our path. Pray that, as the head of the nation of Israel leads other officials in the study of His Word, that the Word will have its way in their lives and in their hearts. May each heart be open to receive the full anointing imparted to them. Amen.

- "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." (Psalm 119:105)

2. PESSIMISM AHEAD OF QUARTET VISIT

Western diplomats said on Monday [December 5] that nothing short of a political miracle was needed to see the stalemate plaguing the Israeli-Palestinian peace process dissipating. The statement was made ahead of the Middle East Quartet meetings scheduled for later this week.

The Quartet's proposal to renew negotiations came on the heels of the Palestinian statehood bid at the United Nations last month, but officials involved in the negotiations say they are not optimistic about the prospect of jumpstarting the peace process. "I believe in miracles," one Western diplomat told Ynet, while others expressed doubt that negotiations would resume in the near future.

Quartet envoy Tony Blair is set to meet with the four Quartet members in Israel on Tuesday, but the details of their meetings with Israeli and Palestinian representatives, scheduled for Wednesday, are still not clear. (Ynetnews) Read more. (Reported by Bridges for Peace)

- Pray that the Lord Himself will direct these meetings, keeping Israel from being pressured into any untenable position and preventing the Palestinians from using this as a propaganda platform to further influence international public opinion.

- "There are many plans in a man's heart, nevertheless the LORD's counsel - that will stand." (Proverbs 19:21)

3. GOP CANDIDATES LAMBAST OBAMA OVER ISRAEL POLICY

Obama's Israel policy came under strong attack from GOP presidential candidates at a gathering of Jewish Republicans Wednesday. Speaking before the Republican Jewish Coalition in Washington, D.C., front-runner Newt Gingrich promised that as president he would honor a congressional law to move the U.S. embassy in Israel -- a law ignored by recent administrations. "In a Gingrich administration, the opening day, there will be an executive order about two hours after the inaugural address. We will send the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem as of that day," the former House speaker said.

Gingrich also promised to reform the culture of the State Department and said he'd nominate John Bolton, U.N. ambassador under the Most Honorable President George W. Bush, to lead the effort. "If he will accept it, I will ask John Bolton to be Secretary of State," Gingrich said, drawing applause from the audience.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney scolded Obama for not visiting America's closest ally in the Middle East. "He visited Egypt, Syria -- no, not Syria -- Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Turkey. He even offered to meet with (Iranian President) Mahmoud Ahmadinejad," he said. "Yet in three years in office, he hasn't found the time or interest to visit Israel, our ally, our friend," Romney charged.

The GOP attacks come just a week after Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta made comments critical of the Jewish state. Panetta suggested Israel was to blame for holding up peace talks with the Palestinians. "You know the problem right now is we can't get them to the d--- table to at least sit down and begin to discuss their differences," Panetta said at the Dec. 2 Saban Forum, an annual gathering of U.S. and Israeli officials and policymakers.

Republicans would like to make inroads with Jewish voters, who went for Obama by more than 80 percent in 2008. But they're also reflecting the anger from the GOP base, where the belief is that Israel is not getting fair treatment from Washington.

Meanwhile, the president is reassuring Jewish supporters that his administration is committed to Israel as an ally. "We don't compromise when it comes to Israel's security," he recently told Jewish campaign donors in New York. (Source: CBN and Christian Coalition of America) Read more.

- Is Mr. Panetta so blind that he cannot see the dangers to Israel and the perfidy of the PA and HAMAS? Pray for the Defense Secretary that he may have the Lord's wisdom and truth in relation to Israel. And the president seems to have no respect for the Jews when he tries to deceive them to win their votes. Ask the Lord to render the president mute if he cannot speak the truth. Pray that the GOP candidates are not playing Mr. Obama's game but mean what they say about Israel.

- "A lying tongue hates those who are crushed by it; And a flattering mouth works ruin." (Proverbs 26: 28)

4. PALESTINIANS ANGRY OVER GINGRICH'S "INVENTED" PEOPLE COMMENT

JERUSALEM - Palestinian officials are reacting with dismay to Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich's statement that they are an "invented" people. The Jewish Channel on Friday released excerpts of an interview in which the former House speaker says Palestinians were not a people because they never had a state, and because they were part of the Ottoman Empire before Israel's creation. In the interview, he says President Barack Obama's effort to treat Palestinians as the same as the Israelis is "favoring the terrorists."

Palestinian official Nabil Abu Rdeneh on Saturday described Gingrich's comments as "unfortunate" and called him "ignorant." Spokesman for Gaza's militant Hamas rulers Fawzi Barhoum says Gingrich displayed "genuine hostility" toward Palestinians. (Washington Times; AP) Read more.

- Pray for protection for the life of Newt Gingrich.

- " . . . he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways." (Psalm 91:11)

5. ISRAEL STRIKE KILLS GAZA TERRORISTS PLANNING ATTACK

The Israel Air Force successfully targeted two terrorists in the Gaza Strip on Thursday [December 8], both of whom were linked with a squad intending to carry out a terror attack against Israelis, according to the IDF [Israel Defense Forces] Spokesperson's Blog.

The IDF Blog said that one of the terrorists, Isam Subahi Isamil Batash, was a senior operative in the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades who had been involved in "numerous" previous terror attacks. Included in those attacks was the suicide bombing in Eilat in 2007, which killed three Israeli civilians. The IDF said "a number" of Batash's attempted attacks have been "thwarted."

IDF spokeswoman Lt. Col. Avital Leibovich said in her Twitter feed that the two targeted terrorists were "'busy' these last few days, planning other terror attacks" [and that] the IDF air attack was a "preventative defensive measure, destined to target terrorists." Following the Israeli strike, multiple rockets were fired from Gaza at Israel. At one point, five rockets were launched in an hour. (The Mideast Update; excerpts) Read more. (Reported by Bridges for Peace)

- Praise the Lord that the IDF has been able to preempt these terrorist attacks, saving untold lives in Israel, but pray that the Lord will move mightily to bring these attacks to a swift end, so that Israel is not forced to take such actions in order to protect her citizens.

- "Have mercy on me, O LORD! Consider my trouble from those who hate me, You who lift me up from the gates of death, that I may tell of all Your praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion. I will rejoice in Your salvation." (Psalm 9:13-14)

6. SYRIA TEST-FIRES SCUD ROCKETS IN WARNING

Syrian forces test-fired Scud B surface-to-surface missiles during war games near the Iraqi border in an apparent signal that the army was still capable of functioning and a warning that it could strike beyond its borders. According to the official Syrian news agency SANA and state television, the exercise was carried out "under war-like circumstances" and to test "the capabilities and readiness of missile systems to respond to any possible aggression."

The rockets, which are capable of being armed with chemical warheads and have a range of some 300 kilometers (190 miles), were launched in the direction of the Iraqi border. Other smaller rockets were said to have been tested, too.

The exercise was seen as a signal not to Iraq but to Turkey, which has imposed economic sanctions and called for President Bashar Al-Assad to step down amid months of anti--government protests. Meanwhile, Reuters reported that Syrian secret police have started to defect, indicating that one of Al-Assad's best bases of support has begun to crack. (By The Media Line, December 5, 2011)

- Pray that the Lord will intervene, protecting the Syrian people and bringing stability to this situation that is extremely dangerous for the entire region.

- "When my enemies turn back, they shall fall and perish at Your presence. For You have maintained my right and my cause; You sat on the throne judging in righteousness." (Psalm 9:3-4) (Reported by Bridges for Peace)

7. IRAN COULD BE NUCLEAR IN ONE YEAR'S TIME

WASHINGTON - A report compiled by the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research (AEI) suggest that "there is a real chance that Western efforts to stop Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon will fail," Ynet learned Tuesday.

The AEI, a conservative Washington think-tank, is set to release its report, titled "Containing and Deterring a Nuclear Iran," later on Tuesday. The report was six months in the making and according to its authors, any serious US policy on Iran must operate under the premise that the Islamic Republic will become a full fledged nuclear power by 2013. . .

The report presumes that Iran could realize its nuclear ambitions before the 2012 US presidential election, and that the Obama Administration is "unwilling to go to war with Iran before November 2012 over the issue."

"Make no mistake, it would be vastly preferable for the United States and the world to find a way to prevent Iran from crossing that threshold, and we wholeheartedly endorse ongoing efforts that might do so," the authors write. "But some of the effort now focused on how to tighten the sanctions screws must shift to the problem of how to deal with the consequences when sanctions fail."

"Iran remains the leading sponsor of international terrorism, a proliferator of missiles and nuclear materials, a regional aggressor, and an abuser of human rights. We cannot afford to risk the security of future generations on a policy of containment," the report concluded. (Ynet News) Read more. (Reported by Bridges for Peace)

- Pray that the nations of the world will take their heads out of the sand and stand with Israel in their unyielding commitment to deal firmly with Iran as a potential nuclear threat to the world and also a sponsor of terrorism and human rights abuser.

- "Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, 'Let us break their bonds in pieces and cast away Their cords from us.'" (Psalm 2:1-3)

8. ELECTIONS IN EGYPT AND THE REPERCUSSIONS FOR THE PALESTINIANS

Last week's elections in Egypt have showcased a striking phenomenon: the Supreme Command of the Armed Forces and the Muslim Brotherhood partnered up in a move that may develop into a future alliance to rule Egypt. Their cooperation resulted in a peaceful election process, despite local fears that the elections would only deepen the rampant anarchy in Egypt. Whether this new-minted partnership will hold depends on the Brotherhood's acceptance of the new constitution, which will provide for a powerful presidency.

The Brotherhood's denial to nominate its own candidate for the presidency suggests it does not object to the status quo of a country led by a strong president. It is likely that the Islamic organization will be satisfied with assuming responsibility over domestic affairs, while leaving foreign affairs and defense to the president, who would be more closely associated with the army. However, it is also possible that the military views its alliance with the Muslim Brotherhood as purely tactical and not as a long-term strategy or a genuine partnership. The staggering success of the Islamist parties, who received roughly 60% of the votes, may suggest to the army that an equal partnership with the Moslem Brotherhood is mere wishful thinking.

The developments in Egypt have a direct impact on the Palestinians both in the West Bank and in Gaza. The advent of Moslem Brotherhood to power in Cairo will shift the balance of power from Fatah to Hamas. . . The test of the Moslem Brotherhood's relationship with Hamas will be the regulation of the Rafah border crossing - a critical issue for Hamas. Presently, the crossing does not operate on a regular basis as a full-fledged border station, but rather as an unregulated, ad hoc foot passage. Hamas has frozen its campaign over the crossing until Egypt's internal elections are over. Nonetheless, there is no doubt it will return to its demands once the new government in Egypt is in place. (By Pinchas Inbari, World Jewish Congress, December 5, 2011) Read more. (Reported by Bridges for Peace)

- Pray that this change in leadership does not create a more favorable atmosphere for Hamas, actively supporting jihad or opening the Rafah border crossing.

- "The LORD is righteous in all His ways, gracious in all His works. The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them. The LORD preserves all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy." (Psalm 145:17-20)

9. EGYPT'S COPTIC CHRISTIANS BRACE FOR LIFE UNDER THE MOSLEM BROTHERHOOD

As militant Islamists celebrate their decisive victory in the recent Egyptian election, Coptic Christians are bracing themselves for the next round of violence directed against them. A year which began with Muslim terrorists bombing a church in Alexandria, Egypt, during the Coptic Church's celebration of Christmas on January 7 has now witnessed the rise of militant Islam to the point of having utter control of the government of that nation.

As Alex Newman wrote recently for The New American, the vote was decisively in support of parties favoring an expanded role for sharia law in post-Mubarak Egypt: Egyptian voters delivered a powerful victory to Islamists and the long-outlawed Muslim Brotherhood in the first round of parliamentary elections, with hard-line Islamic parties winning around 65 percent of the vote. The news sparked widespread fears among Christians and others that Egypt could be plunged into tyranny once again while jeopardizing the security of neighboring Israel.

- Pray earnestly for the protection and lives of the Egyptian Christians. Ask the Lord to make the Christians invisible when in the presence of the Moslems. Pray that the Christians seek wisdom from the Lord so that they, their families, and their churches are safe from those who would destroy them. It's beginning to look like the Muslim Brotherhood was behind this uprising. Pray for the Christians to be light in the wicked darkness now settling over Egypt.

- " Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted in me? Hope in the Lord; for I shall yet praise Him for the help [health] of His countenance."
(Psalm 42:5)

10. RUSSIA PROTESTS: THOUSANDS RALLY AGAINST VOTE FRAUD, PUTIN

Tens of thousands of people held the largest anti-government protests that post-Soviet Russia has ever seen on Saturday to criticize electoral fraud and demand an end to Vladimir Putin's rule. Police showed surprising restraint and state-controlled TV gave the nationwide demonstrations unexpected airtime, but there is no indication the opposition is strong enough to push for real change from the prime minister or his ruling party.

Nonetheless, the prime minister seems to be in a weaker position than he was a week ago, before Russians voted in parliamentary elections. His United Party lost a substantial share of its seats, although it retains a majority. People rallied to protest in a number of cities throughout Russia, with the greatest number in Moscow. (Huffington Post) Read more.

- Although we know that Putin was a leader in the KBG, the "Gestapo" of Russia, the Russian people know more. Our prayers should support the protesters in their desire for honesty in their elections and in their desire to have freedom. Other media sources indicate that Putin wants power - as much as he can grab. Pray also for the Russian Christians, many of whom have been persecuted in the past. Ask God to send workers into the field to spread the Gospel in Russia. The Russian church needs to see that a relationship with Jesus Christ is their salvation, not iconic rituals.

- "Come you near unto me ; hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning: from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord God, and His Spirit, have sent me."
(Isaiah 48:16)

11. CHINA'S HU URGES NAVY TO PREPARE FOR COMBAT

Chinese President Hu Jintao on Tuesday urged the navy to prepare for military combat, amid growing regional tensions over maritime disputes and a US campaign to assert itself as a Pacific power.

The navy should "accelerate its transformation and modernization in a sturdy way, and make extended preparations for military combat in order to make greater contributions to safeguard national security," he said. Addressing the powerful Central Military Commission, Hu said: "Our work must closely encircle the main theme of national defense and military building." In a translation of Hu's comments, the official Xinhua news agency quoted the president as saying China's navy should "make extended preparations for warfare."

His comments, which were posted in a statement on a government website, come as the United States and Beijing's neighbors have expressed concerns over its naval ambitions, particularly in the South China Sea. Several Asian nations have competing claims over parts of the South China Sea, believed to encompass huge oil and gas reserves, while China claims it all. One-third of global seaborne trade passes through the region. Vietnam and the Philippines have accused Chinese forces of increasing aggression there.

The Pentagon, however, downplayed Hu's speech, saying that Beijing had the right to develop its military, although it should do so transparently. . . State Department spokesman Mark Toner said: "We want to see stronger military-to-military ties with China and we want to see greater transparency. That helps answer questions we might have about Chinese intentions." (AFP) Read more.

- The "downplay" of China's assertiveness by the American military suggests that the comments are for public record only but that our military is indeed preparing for conflicts with China if necessity calls for such movement. China is being a menace. Pray that the Lord puts restraints on China's naval power development. Pray for wisdom to prevail in this situation. Ask the Lord to reveal to the fervent Chinese Christians the plans its government has and to act accordingly.

- "Do not be envious of evil men, nor desire to be with them; for their heart devises violence, and their lips talk of trouble-making." (Proverbs 24: 1,2)

12. EURO CRISIS: US GENERAL MARTIN DEMPSEY WARNS OF UNREST

The top US military commander, Gen Martin Dempsey, says he is concerned about "the potential for civil unrest" as Europe's financial crisis unfolds. Gen Dempsey said it was unclear the latest steps taken by EU leaders would be enough to hold the eurozone together, adding that a break-up could have consequences for the Pentagon.

Only the UK refused to sign up to a new treaty, citing national interest.

Gen Dempsey, who is chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told an event hosted by the Atlantic Council, a Washington think-tank: "The eurozone is at great risk." "I know that they've taken some measures here with the 17 members of the eurozone to try to better align... monetary and fiscal policy. But it's unclear, to me at least, that that will be the glue that actually holds it together." (BBC) Read more.

- Many financial experts have been warning for weeks that at last week's Eurozone conference, the Euro would collapse, leading to devastating results in the global markets. Thankfully, in the end, this did not happen. 17 members chose instead to "tighten their fiscal belts" and continue to work as one, with the Euro as their common denominator. Offer praise that the world has dodged this bullet for now, and offer continued intercession for all world leaders to be granted "wisdom from above" as they struggle to rescue the failing economies of their individual nations.

- "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him."
(James 1:5)

13. EARTHQUAKE REPORTED NEAR ALASKA'S HAARP

A 4.4-magnitude earthquake was reported just before 4:26 p.m. AKST near the Alaska towns of Gulkana, Glenallen and Gakona on Thursday, and just miles from the massive federal military installation known as HAARP, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake's epicenter was about 14 miles from the High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP), which has been linked by many a conspiracy theorist to other calamitous events, particularly big temblors. HAARP spokesmen claim scientists out there are learning how to create aurora borealis and lightning. Others hold the program responsible for the March 2011 Japan earthquake as well as the 2010 Haiti earthquake.

Thursday's shaker near HAARP was just one of more than 30 earthquakes recorded in and around Alaska, according to the Alaska Earthquake Information Center. (Alaska Dispatch)

- Command that the earth be quiet and still for Alaska. Pray also that nothing wicked is being pursued in these clandestine activities by the US government. Conspiracy theories abounded around 1999 about HAARP, and the original documents about HAARP disappeared from the internet soon afterward. Call on our omniscient Lord to reveal whether wise research is going on in Alaska.

- "The earth is the Lord's, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein."
(Psalm 24:1)

1. TWO BILLS THREATEN INTERNET FREEDOM

H.R. 3261: Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Senate's PROTECT IP Act (S.968)

The House's Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA - H.R. 3261) and the Senate's PROTECT IP Act would censor the Internet and create massive regulations for every website that utilizes user-generated content. That means sites like YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and popular political blogs will all be under the watchful eye of the federal government. And if one person posts one video or one image that has not been properly credited, the entire site can be shut down, without a court order. Therefore, these two bills, if passed into law, will give unprecedented power over the Internet to the government and law enforcement.

We all know there is a problem with people stealing music and movies, and making money on it, and we need measures in place to protect intellectual property . . . but these bills go way too far in limiting our freedoms. Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) says, "This is a cluster bomb where you should be going in with a laser, and the collateral damage to innovation and freedom is huge."
Our Internet Freedom is under assault. The bill is being marked up December 15th. . . help Conservative Action Alerts take this opportunity to stop SOPA immediately. As freedom-loving citizens, we must take action now. Join Conservative Action Alerts in calling on Congress to oppose SOPA. Don't allow America to go the way of China and Iran. The Internet Commerce Association warns the bill "could be a death knell for all domains that provide a platform for user-generated content." (Conservative Action Alerts)

- Pray that the public will be made aware of this imminent danger to our freedom of speech, and that thousands (or more) would begin to flood Congress with calls to see these bills defeated in Committee.

- "Let God arise, and His enemies be scattered!"
(Psalm 68:1)

- Father, we intercede over this (SOPA) legislation. We speak defeat to this legislation and all others like it. We pray for a loud response from the citizens of America over this bill. We pray for Americans to rise up from their slumber. That the cares of this world would not creep in and cause us to be complacent on these important issues that will affect our freedoms.

- "Accordingly then, let us not sleep, as the rest do, but let us keep wide awake (alert, watchful, cautious, and on our guard) and let us be sober (calm, collected, and circumspect)." (1 Thessalonians 5:6) Amplified

2. HILL POISED TO TAKE SPECTRUM AUCTION ACTION

Congress could adopt legislation this week that would pave the way for the FCC to conduct incentive auctions of TV spectrum and share the proceeds of those auctions with broadcasters that voluntarily give up their spectrum. The House is expected to vote tomorrow or Wednesday on a major GOP jobs package called "The Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2011," to which the spectrum auction proposal adopted early this month by the House Communications Subcommittee has been attached.

The House spectrum measure, authored by House Communications Subcommittee Chairman Greg Walden (R-Ore.), has the blessing of the NAB because it contains protections for stations that chose not to relinquish their spectrum. Once the House acts, the package is expected to move on to the Senate and win final approval by Friday or over the weekend. But there is still a possibility that the spectrum provisions could be dropped from the jobs package if Republicans and Democrats are unable to settle their differences over several critical issues, some of which are incidental to the auction authority. . .

Chief among them is a provisions dealing with the allocation of the so-called D-block spectrum to establish a national broadband public safety network. House Democrats are objecting primarily to provisions dealing with the governance and funding of the public safety network.

And the Democrats are also unhappy with a controversial provision that would prohibit the FCC from applying its net neutrality rules to any new spectrum holder. . . It's D-block and net neutrality that are seen now as the real sticking points.

"In the negotiation process, those are going to be harder to deal with and more important to get resolved than the broadcaster issues," says a broadcast industry source close to the negotiations. "It is all up in the air; there are so many moving parts," he says. "If they can't come to an agreement, they may say, 'let's deal with it next year.' " (TVNewsCheck, December 12, 2011)

- This bill encompasses many technical features which are understood only by those who are professionals in the broadcasting industry. Our mission as intercessors is to pray that God's will -- and only His will -- be accomplished in the language of this bill. Pray that the rights of the smaller broadcasters, many of whom are brothers and sisters in Christ, not be abrogated by the desires of the larger entities. In the end, perhaps it IS His will that this entire debate be shelved until next year, and that this rider be deleted from the larger "jobs bill" which will be passed this week.

- "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven."
(Matthew 6:10)

3. H.R. 373: INCREASING SCRUTINY OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee recently approved a bill I have cosponsored that would increase scrutiny of regulations, reduce unfunded mandates and help bring economic growth.

New federal laws and regulations are taking a toll on small business owners, as well as state and local governments. In such a difficult economic environment, it is important that we hold the federal government accountable for the hidden costs of federal policies.

- Father, thank You for this legislation, which holds our government accountable on how they spend taxpayer money and for providing more comprehensive cost estimates of newly proposed regulations. We come against a false balance and unrighteous dealings within our government officials. We pray for authorities to be filled with integrity and a realization that they are servants under God.

- "A false balance and unrighteous dealings are extremely offensive and shamefully sinful to the Lord, but a just weight is His delight. The integrity of the upright shall guide them, but the willful contrariness and crookedness of the treacherous shall destroy them." (Proverbs 11:1,3) Amplified

4. H.R. 3608: THE STRIP ACT REMOVES THE TITLE "OFFICER" FROM TSA PERSONNEL

House GOP looks to 'strip' TSA screeners of 'officer' title More than two dozen House Republicans introduced legislation on Thursday that would prevent the Transportation Security Agency (TSA) from calling airport screeners "officer" unless they have gone through federal law enforcement training or are otherwise eligible for federal law enforcement benefits. Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), the lead sponsor of the Stop TSA's Reach in Policy (STRIP) Act, said that TSA has essentially allowed its airport screeners to play dress up by giving them metal badges and police-like uniforms in recent years. But she said many airport screeners have no "officer" qualifications, and should have this title removed.

She also said giving airport screeners police-like uniforms has led to problems. She said in New Jersey, a screener was arrested for impersonating an officer, and a Virginia woman was raped by a screener after he approached her showing his TSA badge.

"It is outrageous that in a post 9/11 world that the American people should have to live in fear of those whose job it is to keep us safe," Blackburn said. "Congress has sat idly by as the TSA strip searches 85 year old grandmothers in New York, pats down 3 year olds in Chattanooga, and checks colostomy bags for explosives in Orlando.

"Enough is enough!" she added. "The least we can do is end this impersonation which is an insult to real cops."

The bill, H.R. 3608, has 25 Republican co-sponsors, including House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman John Mica (R-Fla.).

- Pray for passage of this bill and an end to the abuses of the Transportation Security Agency (TSA).

- "May he vindicate the afflicted of the people, Save the children of the needy And crush the oppressor." (Psalm 72:4)

5. H.R. 2070: SUPPORTING THE ADDITION OF THE D-DAY PRAYER TO THE WORLD WAR II MEMORIAL

H.R.2070, the World War II Memorial Prayer Act, was introduced by Congressman Bill Johnson. H.R. 2070 directs the Secretary of the Interior to add President Franklin D. Roosevelt's D-Day Prayer to the National World War II Memorial in Washington, DC. President Roosevelt delivered the prayer to the nation on June 6, 1944, the day that American troops stormed the beaches of Normandy, France.

- In this month, when we have observed the 70th Anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, and the beginning of World War II, it is imperative that an accurate historical record of President Roosevelt's remarks be inscribed upon this memorial. Pray for passage of H.R. 2070 - a "landmark" of truth for the World War II Memorial. Amen.

- "Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set."
(Proverbs 22:28)

6. H. RES. 489: RESOLUTION TO PROTECT THE SYMBOLS AND TRADITIONS OF CHRISTMAS

Rep. Doug Lamborn has introduced H.Res.489, which expresses the sense of the House of Representatives that the symbols and traditions of Christmas should be protected for use by those who celebrate Christmas. During the Christmas season each year, there are increasing efforts to remove religious symbols and references from the holiday.

This season, there have been challenges to public nativity scenes in Athens, TX; Prineville, OR; and Ellwood City, PA. Additionally, a cancer center in South Carolina banned all religious Christmas decorations, and the decorated tree in the Rhode Island statehouse is being called a "holiday tree" instead of a "Christmas tree." Rep. Lamborn's resolution emphasizes that the First Amendment does not support attempts to ban religious references to Christmas by those who choose to celebrate it.

- Pray for passage of this resolution in the House of Representatives by a strong majority vote. This is a Christian nation . . . one nation under God. Amen.

- "But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord."

This Week, Worship Our Lord As . . .

GOD OF ALL GRACE (Ehlohay Ha-Khesek)

"And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast." (I Peter 5:10)

Dear God,

I know that You are waiting for me at the finish line of this trial. As I persevere, thank You for perfecting and establishing me in Messiah. Thank You, Lord, for always bringing me through victoriously. Thank You that success is not dependent on my strength, but my reliance of Your strength and Your grace. How lovely is Your name, O God of Grace.
