(Psalm 37:29)

PLEASE NOTE OUR SPECIAL INVITATION TO JOIN US IN WORSHIP WARFARE, AT THE END OF THIS EDITION OF THE DAILY BRIEF. WELCOME!

The Daily Brief

1. Federal Budget Deficit to Dip to Still-Alarming $1.1 Trillion, CBO Says - NewsMax

A new budget report predicts the government will run a $1.1 trillion deficit in the fiscal year that ends in September, a slight dip from last year but still alarmingly high.

- Pray that our national leaders will have God's wisdom in making the decisions that are necessary for the United States and its citizenry to deal with this financial crisis through good stewardship. Pray for bipartisan support concerning necessary budgetary change.

- "For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he may have enough to finish it; lest perhaps, after he has laid the foundation and is not able to finish, all those seeing begin to mock him, saying, This man began to build and was not able to finish." (Luke 14:28-30) [Prayer offered by Intercessors for America]

2. Catholics hear protests of Obama health ruling at Mass
- Reuters

U.S. Catholic bishops and priests across the country read out letters at Mass on Sunday protesting plans by President Barack Obama's administration to force religiously-affiliated nonprofit groups to offer birth-control coverage to women employees.

- Dear Lord, we thank you that the Catholic church has loudly, publicly denounced the Obama administration for ordering all Catholic schools, hospitals and social services to provide, in their health insurance coverage for employees, free contraceptives, free sterilizations and free "morning-after" pills. Using Obamacare's precedents, President Obama has moved ahead to commit this act of federal aggression, forcing the church to violate its own principles.

Lord hear us as the enemies of Life (NARAL, Planned Parenthood and pro choice organizations) are celebrating. We cry out to You!! Father, may every effort to destroy our future generations serve to awaken and activate the people of God to win great victories in Your Name, protecting and defending lives You create in the womb. We bind every effort to promote the culture of death, and every effort to take away the rights of Your people to obey Your Word, in Jesus' mighty Name!!

- "Though they join forces, the wicked will not go unpunished; But the posterity of the righteous will be delivered!" (Proverbs 11:21)

3. Netanyahu big winner of Likud primaries - Ynet News

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu scored a convincing victory in the Likud primaries held Tuesday, winning more than 70% of the vote according to initial results received after midnight.

- We wish to thank our prayer partners for lifting up this critical election among the Likud Party at the Knesset in prayer this week, and we praise Him for the results we see. Praise the Lord!

- "Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord!" (Ps. 150:6)

4. Iran, perceiving threat from West, willing to attack on U.S. soil, U.S. intelligence report finds - Washington Post

An assessment by U.S. spy agencies concludes that Iran is prepared to launch terrorist attacks inside the United States, highlighting new risks as the Obama administration escalates pressure on Tehran to halt its alleged pursuit of an atomic bomb. In congressional testimony Tuesday, U.S. intelligence officials indicated that Iran has crossed a threshold in its adversarial relationship with the United States.

- We will say of You Lord, You are our refuge, and our fortress; our God, in You we will trust! Surely You will deliver us from those who would trap us. We will not be afraid of terror by night, nor weapons that strike by day, nor of plagues that would come against our bodies or pestilences that strike cyber security. Because You are our Refuge, we will not fear the destruction that lays waste at noon day. Cover us with Your feathers Lord and we will take refuge under Your wings, because we trust in Jesus' Name!

- "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea."
(Psalm 46: 1,2)

5. Group urges credible U.S. military threat to Iran
- Reuters

Former U.S. politicians, generals and officials said in a report that the best chance of stopping Iran's suspected pursuit of nuclear weapons was to make clear American willingness to use force, although it stopped short of advocating military action.

- Lord we ask for great wisdom for our political and military leaders in the face of nuclear weaponry and war plans in Iran. We thank You that safety is of You Lord, but in this world of sin, the horse must be prepared for the day of battle. May our military be a coercive force for good against our enemies! Remove from leadership, those who would leave America disarmed and vulnerable. In Jesus' Name we pray.

- "The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but deliverance and victory are of the Lord." (Proverbs 21: 30,31)

6. Mossad chief makes secret visit to US - YnetNews

As the debate over a possible military strike against Iran continues to grow, Mossad Chief Tamir Pardo met last Thursday in Washington with CIA Director David Petraeus, comments made during a Senate intelligence committee hearing revealed on Tuesday.

- Lord God, we ask You today to give wisdom and the mind of Christ to our leaders as they deal with Iran. Oversee "backdoor" meetings so that no one may use this serious situation for their own personal advantage. We ask You to provide superior weapons, tactics, ideas and intelligence enabling us and our allies to overcome this outspoken enemy. May the present dangers and the attempted forceful death- dealing thrusts of Islam only serve to draw more and more souls into a relationship with You, in Jesus' Name we pray!

- " Behold, I AM the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for Me?"

(Isaiah 32: 27)

3. Brotherhood would cancel Camp David Agreement, says Hezbollah official - Egypt Independent

Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood will eventually cancel the Camp David Agreement, despite the group's announcement that it respects international agreements Egypt has signed, said Amin al-Sayed Ibrahim, head of Hezbollah's political council.

- Lord, we pray that those who will truthfully respect the Camp David Agreement, will be the future ruling force in Egypt. We pray protection over Israel from enemy forces that are hatefully seeking to advance against this small but God appointed nation. Turn the hearts of those that would disregard their own treaties, in Jesus Name we pray!

-"For the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will choose Israel, and settle them in their own land. (Israel) will take them captive whose captives they were, and rule over their oppressors." (Isaiah 14: 1,2)

Focus on Syria

Please pray in the spirit over all matters related to the crisis in Syria. Our Father knows it all; and He does have a plan for the people of that nation. Thank you.

1. Syria's Assad will go, says US, as UN vote nears - BBC

The White House said President Bashar al-Assad had lost control of Syria, adding "he will go". Russia has said it will block a UN resolution calling for Mr Assad to hand power to a deputy who would then form a government of national unity. Moscow said the text - proposed by the Arab League and backed by the US, the UK and France - was "not balanced" and would "leave open the possibility of intervention" in Syria's affairs.

2. Demands for Syria's Assad to step down is path to war, Russia says

- The Globe

Western and Arab diplomats launched a major offensive at the UN on Tuesday in hopes of overcoming Russia's opposition to a draft resolution demanding that Syrian President Bashar Assad relinquish power.-Russia, a veto-wielding permanent member of the council, has objected to the draft, which is backed by Western and some Arab powers. Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said Tuesday on Twitter that the resolution is a "path to civil war."

3. UN Security Council Discusses Syrian "Killing Machine"
- Israel National News

The resolution is based on the Arab League's plan for Syria which instructs Assad to delegate powers to his vice president following the formation of a national unity government.

allah is not God the Father irrespective of the translation

There has been a big brouhaha stirred up this week over whether Bible translators Wycliffe, SIL International and Frontiers are replacing God the Father with allah in some Arabic translations. Wycliffe and SIL have launched a counter campaign pointing people to their websites which reiterate their translation standards that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God and great care is exercised to translate the Bible properly. They have also used email and the internet to undermine the credibility of those who oppose this practice. Notwithstanding, Daily Jot sources confirm that these organizations have substituted allah as God in various materials. So is allah God? Or is allah God depending on the translation?

Wycliffe Church Relations Western States Manager Mack Timm wrote a Jot subscriber: "SIL maintains its historic position that Scripture translations must promote the understanding of the term, "Son of God," that includes Jesus' relationship as Son with God the Father. SIL affirms the eternal deity of Jesus Christ and requires that it be preserved in all translations. I can't help but wonder what Mr. Wilson is doing to provide God's Word in a language and form that speaks to the hearts of millions of people, speaking over 2,000 languages, that have not one verse of Scripture in their language?" Despite the personal attack, I will not budge from my position that allah cannot be substituted for God. Two different beings--one is true, the other a lie.

A translator's task is arduous and difficult. Often languages do not have the word to express what is being translated. Irrespective, from the beginning, God has had the name YHVH. It does have many versions, allah is not one of them. To make a Muslim think that allah is the same God of the Bible is error. It actually harms our efforts to evangelize to this people group--I know, I am in ministry in Ghana that is reaching out to Muslims in rural areas. The god of Islam is a war lord of hate, slavery, and death, devoid of love. The God of the Bible is a God of love, forgiveness, and everlasting life, and this is what truly attracts the Muslim to Christianity. If he believes they are the same god, then the contrast is not likely to be made.

To Mr. Timm's point, I am not responsible for providing God's word to millions like Wycliffe, SIL or Frontier. That alone, however, is not reason enough to allow equating the name of God with a non-god. What damage does that do to this generation and those to come? People should not quit giving money to have the Bible translated into other languages. Translators in this case, however, ought to own up to the error and find a better way that does not compromise the identity of God. 1 Corinthians 8:6 says, "But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him." Wycliffe says it is so on its website, why then does allah replace God in some of its translations?

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Warnings About Iran

Yesterday Director of National Intelligence James Clapper testified before Congress about the national security threats confronting America. There was some good news about a diminished threat from Al Qaeda in the wake of Osama bin Laden's death, but Clapper had disturbing warnings about Iran.

While the world is focused on Iran's threat to close the Strait of Hormuz, Clapper warned members of the Senate Intelligence Committee that there is growing concern that Iran is prepared to launch terrorist attacks inside the United States. Clapper said last year's Iranian plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador in Washington, D.C., "shows that some Iranian officials -- probably including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei -- have changed their calculus and are now more willing to conduct an attack in the United States in response to real or perceived U.S. actions that threaten the regime."

This is a very dangerous time for America and the world. As Iran continues its feverish pursuit of nuclear weapons, it may also attempt to strike our homeland. The timing of Obama's planned defense cuts increases the danger that Iran will miscalculate its own strength based on our perceived weakness. (Gary Bauer; End-of-Day; Feb. 1, 2012)

Focus on Greece

Experts Terrified by Greece's Debt Problems

A second week of talks in Athens ended Friday with no deal between the country, the European Union and private holders of Greek bonds.

Economists and investors see a Greek default as the biggest test of the world financial system since the crisis that followed the collapse of Lehman Brothers investment house in 2008. It is also the biggest threat to what has been a successful start to the year in the U.S. stock market. (Business Insider) Read more.

- Dear Heavenly Father, You said in Matthew 24:37 "But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." Are we not now In the days of Noah as per what's happening in the world with Greece's default? We put our trust and faith looking for your imminent return . . .

Please, we watch anxiously for your return daily knowing you will not fail to keep your promise to your very own children who constantly Love and Worship you! Amen.

- "Looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ."
(Titus 2:13)

The Good News Corner:

Court: ACLU Case Against Tennessee Lacks Evidence

On Monday, a court in the Nashville area gave the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) 30 days to bring evidence showing a state law has harmed someone.

The law was enacted last year, after the Nashville City Council declared in 2009 that any private organizations seeking to do business with the city needed to offer special rights to homosexuals. While private businesses were free to do what they like for their employees, state lawmakers said that to have towns deciding on their own which classes of people deserve special protections would create an untenable legal landscape. Therefore, only the state itself can determine protected classes.

"The ACLU sued over that, tried to subpoena all our records, and said it was just animus toward homosexuals," said David Fowler, executive director of the Family Action Council of Tennessee. "Yesterday, the court dismissed the lawsuit and said the plaintiffs had not alleged any particular injury to themselves, the law applied equally to every group of people not listed in state law, and anyone feeling they still needed protections could go to the state legislature and ask to be made a protected class."

Michigan and Nebraska are seeking to pass similar legislation.
