The Daily Jot!

US Government supporting Islam over religious freedom

The Middle East Forum posted a graphic video airing on "Egypt Today" where a young Christian man's throat is sliced and his head cut off by an Islamic screaming "Allahu Akbar." The Christian reportedly refused to deny his faith. This horrible event reportedly occurred in Tunisia, where the man who occupies the Oval Office assisted the Muslim Brotherhood in ousting the government and installing a so-called democracy. According to CNSNews.com, the US State Department eliminated the section on religious freedom in its new Human rights reports and did not cover the atrocities against Christians by Muslims in countries that the White House assisted in establishing "democracy" during the "Arab Spring."

America traditionally upheld religious freedom all around the world--that is, until this and the previous Administration began nation building in Islamic countries. The US insisted that religious freedom language was in the constitutions of Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Tunisia, Yemen, Egypt and so on. The problem, however, is that these constitutions also carry language that establish Islam as the religion of the land. Islam, as an official religion, will not co-exist with Christianity or Judaism by virtue of Islam's theology. Therefore, no matter the language on religious freedom, Islam, and all that it is, is the official religion. All laws and religions must submit to Islam.

It is difficult to imagine that an American government policy would shift so far away from religious freedom, but that is what has happened. In Afghanistan and Iraq, where Christian American men and women have put their lives on the line everyday ostensibly for freedom (which includes religious freedom), attacks against Christians have caused the Christian church to go so far underground that the US State Department can't find them--saying that Christian churches in those nations are a thing of the past. So much for ten years of taxpayer funded crusades against the Islamic attacker. At the risk of being sarcastic, it is a fair question to this and the previous White House: What gives?

In Egypt, Coptic Christians are being killed by the dozens, their homes and churches being burned, and Coptics were even prevented from voting according to news reports. Everywhere there was a change due to the US-supported Arab Spring, Sharia law, complete with harsh discrimination against Christians, was established. If you look at actions over words, it appears that the American government policy--both domestically and internationally--is undeniably anti-Christian. Worse, American Christians seem complacent about it. Jesus said in Matthew 10:33, "But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven." We need to get right with YHVH, otherwise we may lose our nation.

ENDA Back in the Senate

The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions reopened hearings on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) this week. ENDA would punish employers who in any way discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. A glimpse of the numbers in the LGBT community who claim acts of discrimination against them forebodes a flood of inquiries and lawsuits if this bill were to be enacted. Christian businessmen would be targeted by activists.

- May America become fully acquainted with ENDA and its ominous consequences, and may they demand that their Congressmen and Senators reject it!

- "But select capable men from all the people-men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain -and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens. Have them serve as judges for the people at all times . . . " (Exodus 18:21,22a) (Source: FRC Prayer Targets)

DOMA, CA Marriage Ruling

As noted last week, both the 9th Circuit Court ruling Proposition 8 Unconstitutional and the 1st Circuit Court ruling DOMA unconstitutional are headed for the U.S. Supreme Court. Soon after the High Court announces its decision on Obamacare, the Arizona Immigration Law and others, it will decide which or both cases it will take up . . .

- May the Lord lead each Justice to uphold DOMA and the right of the voters to amend their constitution to uphold marriage as between a man and woman!

- "Teach them his decrees and instructions, and show them the way they are to live and how they are to behave."
(Exodus 18:20) (Source: FRC Prayer Targets)

Today's Legislative Focus

From The Madison Project

www.madisonproject.com

Issue One: Farm Bill

Last week, the Senate began consideration of the 5-year 1,000-page farm bill (S.3240). They will commence the amendment process on Tuesday - a process that will probably last until the end of the month. In last week's edition, we fleshed out the more outrageous provisions of the bill, especially those that relate to the new crop insurance program embedded in this leviathan, which will cost $969 billion over 10 years. While the bipartisan supporters of the bill claim they are cutting $23 billion from the 10-year cost, they are using illusory Washington math. The fact is that the cost of the last farm bill passed in 2008 was $604 billion - a whopping $365 billion less than the current proposal. Almost 80% of the cost of the current farm bill is allocated for Food Stamps and other "mandatory" food programs. The underlying bill is an unmitigated disaster. There is no reason why Republicans should agree to create a new farm welfare program.

In regard to the amendments, there will be a number of important germane and non-germane provisions offered over the next few weeks. Some will deal with eliminating onerous sugar subsidies. Senator Rand Paul also plans to offer an amendment that would block grant the Food Stamp program to the states, an effort that is modeled after welfare reform of 1996. We'll be tracking the process very closely and providing detailed analysis of the amendments and ensuing votes.

Issue Two: Highway Bill

The deadline for the current short-term reauthorization expires June 30. At present, the House conferees appear ready to accept most of the deleterious provisions of the Senate bill as long as Democrats agree to a provision that approves the Keystone pipeline. Last week, Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA) proposed a motion to instruct the conferees to not spend more than the revenue collected from the gas tax. Yet, only 82 of the 242 Republicans voted for that motion. It is becoming clear that a strong majority of Republicans would back any deal that emanates from the conference committee. As such, we must continue to blow up the conference and block any deal. Again, a short-term reauthorization is better than a long-term bill that creates a permanent deficit in the Highway Trust Fund.

Issue Three: Appropriations

Two Senate Appropriations subcommittees - Labor-HHS-Education and Financial Services - will mark up their draft fiscal 2013 spending bills on Tuesday afternoon. Later in the week, the full Appropriations Committee is expected to consider both measures.

Conservative concerns:

Policy Riders: Unfortunately, Senate Republicans, led by Mitch McConnell on the Appropriations Committee, have already sold out on the topline spending figures in the 12 appropriations bills. They have agreed to follow the Obama/Reid spending levels as opposed to those set forth by House Republican and Paul Ryan. However, these two spending bill are of particular concern to conservatives. They fund the Labor Department, HHS, and the Treasury. House Republicans will use these bills to defund Obamacare, Dodd-Frank, and taxpayer-funded abortions. Obviously, Senate Democrats - who control the committee bills - will ensure that none of those provisions are in the bills. There is absolutely no justification for any Republican to vote for those two spending bills.
Punchline:

Please call the Republican members of the Senate Appropriations Committee and tell them to honor their commitment as Republicans to not fund entities or programs such as Obamacare, Dodd-Frank, Planned Parenthood, and the National Labor Relations Board.

Obama: June is Gay Pride (LBBT) Month

Ripple Effect of Obama's Actions:

June is Gay Pride (LBBT) Month

Obama proclaimed June "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month." He plans a reception for LGBT guests at the White House this Friday. The White House website now lists his accomplishments in advancing the homosexual agenda. Federal agencies, U.S. Military Installations and Embassies abroad are "celebrating" in various ways. Despite the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and Louisiana law that prohibits same-sex "marriage" or civil unions, a U.S. Army chaplain performed a same-sex ceremony at Fort Polk last month. While institutions across America are yielding to pressures to abandon moral guidelines on homosexuality, the Boy Scouts, presented with a 250,000+ signature petition to admit homosexual leaders, announced that they have no intention of changing their standards.

- May the President realize that he is an example and that his actions have an impact for good or for evil! May God wash our nation of the moral dullness and spiritual filth that is covering us as a result of this misguided, evil proclamation! May the Boy Scouts continue to resist pressure to yield to this ungodly agenda.

- "Jerusalem, wash the evil from your heart and be saved. How long will you harbor wicked thoughts?" (Jer. 4:14) (Source: FRC Prayer Targets)

Today is Flag Day!

American Minute with Bill Federer

June 14 - Flag Day

Thirteen Stars and Thirteen Stripes.

It was on JUNE 14, 1777, that the Second Continental Congress selected the Flag of the United States.

In 1916, Woodrow Wilson signed the Proclamation making JUNE 14 "National Flag Day."
On Flag Day, 1942, Franklin D. Roosevelt stated:

"The belief in man, created free, in the image of God - is the crucial difference between ourselves and the enemies we face . . . God of the free . . . grant us victory over the tyrants who would enslave all free men."

On JUNE 14, 1954, Dwight Eisenhower signed Joint Resolution (Public Law 396) adding the phrase "One Nation Under God" to the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Eisenhower stated: "From this day forward, the millions of our school children will daily proclaim in every city and town, every village and rural school house, the dedication of our nation and our people to the Almighty.

To anyone who truly loves America, nothing could be more inspiring than . . . this rededication of our youth, on each school morning, to our country's true meaning."

President Eisenhower ended:

"In this way we are reaffirming the transcendence of religious faith in America's heritage and future; in this way we shall constantly strengthen those spiritual weapons which forever will be our country's most powerful resource, in peace or in war."

The Good News Corner

Orange County's Rally for Religious Freedom, Largest in the West

(June 13, 2012)
"The people who attended the rally today are passionate about defending this nation's first freedoms, which are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. You could just feel this groundswell of conscientious voters. They see the need to broaden access to affordable healthcare in the U.S., but they aren't willing to trample on the defense of human life in the process."

(Santa Ana, CA)-On Friday, June 8, an estimated 2000 people attended the Stand Up for Religious Freedom Rally in the Santa Ana Civic Center, the largest in the Western U.S., according to organizers. More than 160 cities across the nation hosted rallies protesting the Health and Human Services Mandate which forces employers to cover controversial medications and female sterilization, without appropriate exemptions for those morally opposed to them.

Stand Up for Religious Freedom During the 90-minute program, 12 speakers shared the podium, highlighting the importance of conscience protections in current and future healthcare laws, the ultimate price veterans have paid to defend our founding freedoms, and the need to remain vigilant in the fight against secularist ideologies threatening to silence the contributions of faith-based solutions to social and political problems in the public square. The well-rounded program included strong patriotic overtones, remarks from leaders of Jewish, Catholic, and Evangelical faith communities, legal and medical professionals, members of minority cultural groups, and young political activists.

Friday's rally was organized by a local group of volunteers whom have organized under the name United 4 Religious Freedom. A website has been launched ( www.u4rf.org )to promote and organize future religious freedom events in Orange County.

"The United 4 Religious Freedom organization was very pleased with Friday's turnout, especially as it was an end-of-week, lunch hour rally. Clearly, when this many people interrupt their schedules to participate in this kind of civic activity, they are sending a powerful message," said Aileen Blachowski, Rally spokesperson.

"They believe what the Constitution states-namely, that these natural rights are given to us by our Creator, not the government. So, you do see them pushing back on the Health and Human Services Mandate that clearly violates our very first natural right as a human-life. The mandated abortion-inducing drugs, contraception and sterilization, which employers would be forced to provide, treat potential life as a threat to health. Isn't that just bizarre?" Blachowski asked.
Rally attendees queued up in long lines to sign postcard petitions addressed to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, and U.S. Senators Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, asking for legislation protecting employers' conscience rights to opt out of these coverages if they are morally opposed to them. The post cards will arrive at the officials' offices by the end of this week.

"Our action doesn't stop here," said Rally Captain Steve Cameron. "We will continue to activate people through our website. There will be conferences, prayer vigils and other activities posted online this week. We'll be sharing video playback from the rally speakers for people who couldn't take off during their lunch hour to join us. U4RF is committed to staying engaged. We're here to support and organize all those people who are tired of the federal government suggesting unconstitutional solutions to our nation's problems. We can do better than that." Cameron said.
