The Daily Brief

1. Strong earthquake rocks Costa Rica - Rapture Ready News

A strong 7.9 earthquake rocked Costa Rica on Wednesday, rattling buildings and cutting power in some areas of the capital of San Jose, a Reuters correspondent and the U.S.G.S. reported. The major quake near the Pacific coast was centered about 50 miles south of Liberia, Costa Rica, and was at a depth of 12.4 miles. A Caribbean-wide tsunami has now been canceled.

- Lord, we pray for the island nation of Costa Rica and ask Your mercy and protection over its people! We especially pray protection for fellow believers. May all that occurs because of this terrible quake and potential tsunami open hearts to receive the good news of Christ, In Jesus' name.

- " Bless the Lord, O my soul - who redeems your life from destruction!" (Psalm 103: 2,4)

2. Dems reveal platform backing gay marriage, abortion rights - Fox News

Democrats unveiled a party platform at their national convention Monday that echoes President Obama's call for higher taxes on wealthier Americans while backing same-sex marriage and abortion rights.

Delegates will vote Tuesday to adopt the platform that reflects the president's argument that his work is unfinished and he deserves another four years to complete the job.

The document is a sharp contrast from the Republican blueprint that the GOP adopted at its convention last week. The Republican plan would ban abortion and gay marriage, repeal Obama's health care overhaul law and shift Medicare into a voucher-style program.

"This election is not simply a choice between two candidates or two political parties, but between two fundamentally different paths for our country and our families," the Democrats said.

- Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You that the Democratic and Republican official 2012 party platforms have brought real clarification of what each of the candidates stand for. We know this has not always been the case in the past, and we know that with this clarity of understanding, there is an increase of voter's accountability before You. Therefore we pray in Jesus' name that America will vote overwhelmingly in agreement with Your Holy Word!

- " Blessed is the man whom You instruct, O Lord, and teach out of Your law, that You may give him rest from the days of adversity" (Psalm 94:12)

3. U.S. national debt passes the $16 trillion mark - Washington Free Beacon

The national debt passed $16 trillion Tuesday, as the Democratic National Convention begins in Charlotte.

The total public debt outstanding stands at $16.015 trillion according to the Treasury Department."This is a grim landmark for the United States," said Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, the ranking Republican on the Senate Budget Committee, in a statement. "The gross debt of our federal government will, for the first time, surpass $16 trillion. That's more government debt per person than Portugal, Italy, Spain, or Greece. Yet the President seems strangely unconcerned."

- Lord, as we have increased our national debt in a few short years by such unprecedented proportions that we have set ourselves up for a resounding economic collapse, we now pray earnestly for leaders in whom You have placed economic and fiscal wisdom to turn this situation around. We pray this for the sake of our children and children's children - may America once again be on sound financial footing, and may it be a testimony of Your blessing before the whole world, in Jesus' name we pray!

- " If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. " (James 1:5)

4. Artwork Likens Obama to Jesus - Fox News

Street vendors across downtown Charlotte are selling posters and artwork depicting President Obama as Jesus Christ and the Democratic National Convention is expected to feature a stained-glass window backdrop during their meeting.

An Obama calendar, obtained by Fox News, features two religious images of the Commander-in-Chief.The month of August includes a photograph of Obama's birth certificate with the words "Heaven sent."The entry also includes a photograph of Obama along with a passage of Scripture from the New Testament.

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life," the entry read - referencing John 3:16.

- Lord, whatever one may think of Barack Obama as a President, as Christians we are deeply offended by pictures overtly portraying Obama as the Messiah. We are grieved before You Lord, that no one in the hierarchy of the Democratic party has spoken out against clear portrayals of this President as the Christ. We repent before You in Jesus' holy name!

- " He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him." (John 3:36)

5. FDA approves computer chip for humans - MSNBC

Medical milestone or privacy invasion? A tiny computer chip approved Wednesday for implantation in a patient's arm can speed vital information about a patient's medical history to doctors and hospitals. But critics warn that it could open new ways to imperil the confidentiality of medical records.

- Yet again Lord, we see the reality of the signs in Your Word portraying the coming Tribulation and rule of anti-Christ. We pray wisdom for individuals who are considering receiving this implant, that Your will be done. We stay focused on You Lord, anticipating Your soon coming with joy, in Jesus' Name.

- " So also when you see all these things, know that it (the Lord's coming) is near - at the doors!" (Matthew 24:33)

6. Mentions of 'God' in Party Platform: Republicans 12, Democrats 0
- CNS News

The 2012 Republican Party platform, approved at last week's GOP convention, mentions God a dozen times.

By contrast, the Democratic Party platform, released on Monday, makes no reference at all to the Deity.

In the 2012 GOP document, references to God actually increased six-fold over the 2008 platform -

In the Democratic Party platform, meanwhile, references to God went from one mention in the 2008 statement of party positions down to no mention at all in 2012. In 2008, Democrats referred to their support of everyone having "the chance to make the most of their God-given potential." For 2012, the phrase was re-written to read: "each one of us should be able to go as far as our talent and drive take us."

- God, shed Your mercy and grace on the United States of America, pour out Your glory once again and be exalted in our land in all honor, we pray in Jesus' name.

- " The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe."(Proverbs 18:10)

BREAKING!! 7. Dems reinstate God, Jerusalem in party platform - CBS News

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Democrats reinstated language in their party platform recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel when their convention reconvened on Wednesday, as well as language that added "God" back into the party's decree. But the additions were just barely approved by a voice vote that seemed to split the crowd evenly. After the convention agreed to alter the platform, former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland (D-Ohio) explained the two amendments. (Read more.)

- Offer praise for this apparent turnaround in the policy of the DNC towards Israel. The voice of the people can still be heard in our republican form of democracy -- and this time, it was. Praise God.

A comparison of the party platforms from a Christian worldview

Wow. I was not going to comment on the Democratic and Republican platforms. But in reading the Democratic Party platform, I am reminded of a total breakdown in society where "God and Country" are no longer mentioned in the same breath. Why, God is not mentioned at all. Meantime, in the background the Democratic Party embraced the official prayers of the most antichrist system on earth--Islam--and supported the ranting of one of its radical Imams as part of a featured event. God, any god, especially YHVH, is not even mentioned in the Democratic Party platform, replaced by the word "Faith." And "Faith" appears to mean organizations working against poverty, climate change and human trafficking. But there is much more.

If you are a Democrat, please do not be offended. But you need to know what is in your party's platform, especially if you are a Christian. This particular platform is different than traditional Democratic Party platforms. For example, Jared Favole of the Wall Street Journal writes: "In 2008, the Democratic Party's platform said "Jerusalem is and will remain the capital of Israel. The parties have agreed that Jerusalem is a matter for final status negotiations. It should remain an undivided city accessible to people of all faiths." The Republican Party's platform for 2012 says "We support Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state with secure, defensible borders; and we envision two democratic states-Israel with Jerusalem as its capital and Palestine-living in peace and security."" The 2012 Democratic Party does not even mention Jerusalem.
There are other planks in the Democratic Party platform. The party is totally behind public funded abortion: "The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman's right to make decisions regarding her pregnancy, including a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay." And it is against traditional marriage: "We support marriage equality and support the movement to secure equal treatment under law for same-sex couples...We support the full repeal of the so-called Defense of Marriage Act and the passage of the Respect for Marriage Act." In contrast, the Republican Party platform defines marriage as the "union of one man and one woman."
The Republican Party platform is against abortion: "Faithful to the "self-evident" truths enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed." On religion, the Republican Party says that the current Administration is conducting a war on religion, and is attempting to deny religious believers their civil rights. It says: "We support the public display of the Ten Commandments as a reflection of our history and of our country's Judeo-Christian heritage..." I do not to even venture to suggest how a person should vote. I will say that you should know what each candidate stands for and vote according to your Christian values. Read the platforms, be informed. As Yeshua said in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you."
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Democrats worry over fundraising as Romney adds to campaign war chest

Senior Democratic sources say that in closed-door meetings with campaign donors here at the convention, top Obama campaign officials like campaign manager Jim Messina are expressing increasing alarm over the fact that Republican Mitt Romney raised $100 million in the month of August alone, further expanding his cash edge.

The Democratic sources tell Fox News the Obama team is privately saying they believe the final days of the presidential race are now shaping up as a dramatic battle between money and demographics, with President Obama's advisers fearful that Romney will use his war chest to unleash a bombardment of television ads and ground game to turn out more white, working-class voters.

Nevertheless, the Obama team is saying in these private meetings they are still confident that they can win by exploiting their demographic edge with Hispanic, African-American and female voters, among others. As a result, the president's Thursday night acceptance speech is expected to be full of direct appeals to these voters.(Read more)

Will Republicans Fund ObamaCare?

Will Republicans Fund ObamaCare?

A word of caution from the Madison Project

Team Madison --

Now that the Republican Convention is over, it's time for us to get to work.

When Congress heads back to Washington, DC, it is going to be three weeks of trying to jam through legislation that has no business becoming law. After a week of being feted and praised at the convention, the Republicans have already signaled that they are willing to pass a Continuing Resolution (CR) in the few weeks that Congress is in session. Not only have Republicans already agreed to a higher level of spending in the CR, this resolution will also fund ObamaCare.
It is not often that I ask that you pick up the phone and call your Member of Congress, but we need to let our Members of Congress know that we expect them to vote against the CR. We don't want higher spending. We do not want them to fund ObamaCare, even if they say it's "only" for 6 months. You may reach your Member is two ways. The first is with a phone call. The switchboard number for the United States House of Representatives is (202) 224-3121. . .

Another Look at Obamacare

Another Look at Obamacare:

An In-Depth Analysis of the Manufactured Crisis of Quality
in American Healthcare

The Affordable Care Act is the culmination of changes to our health care system that has been decades in the making. Due to public policy over-aggressiveness by some and insufficient vigilance by others, we are now arriving at the beginning of a new health care era in America.

The federal government of the United States of America has assumed responsibility for the "quality" of care provided by our health care system. Superior results from the American healthcare system provided for patients are disregarded and trumped by the federal standardization and control of the medical system.
These policies have been advanced under the guise of interchangeable terms like "evidence-based medicine," "guidelines," "best practices," and "protocols," and the net result for the medical community is an unmistakable encroachment on the patient-doctor relationship. Evidence-based medicine, as determined by a record in a database, should never be confused with results-based medicine, as determined by the patient. (Submitted by Tim McGhee)

Government As God

Government As God

When Barack Obama said of business owners, "You didn't build that," it was a rare moment of honesty, very revealing of his left-wing mindset. Desperate to promote his big government agenda, the Obama campaign created "The Life of Julia" -- one woman's cradle-to-grave story meant to demonstrate how you can't survive without government. Yesterday a video was shown to the convention delegates, which continued that theme with this line: "Government is the only thing we all belong to."

My friends, that wasn't a mistake. These conventions are highly scripted events that happen only once every four years. There is no way this movie wasn't thoroughly vetted. But the Democrats are trying to put a happy face on their government-knows-best agenda. Perhaps their motto should be "In Government We Trust."

Our Founding Fathers did not risk their lives, fortunes and sacred honor for the belief that we belong to the government. They fought to free us from that very idea! We don't belong to the government. The government belongs to us. That was the point of Clint Eastwood's address to the Republican National Convention when he said, "We own this country . . . Politicians are employees of ours."

The secularists may have taken God out of the Democratic platform, but it is clear that they worship at the altar of Big Government!

DNC Betrays Israel

New Democratic Party Platform Betrays Israel

FrontPage Magazine, Joseph Klein

Despite some introductory bromides proclaiming the "unshakable commitment" of President Obama and the Democratic Party to Israel's security, the 2012 Democratic National Platform, titled "Moving America Forward," mirrors perfectly President Obama's decision to turn his back on our closest ally in the Middle East. It represents a radical break with prior Democratic Party platforms, not to mention its counterparts issued by the Republican Party, that have expressed unequivocal support for the Jewish state.

Obama has demanded publicly that Israel agree to return to the indefensible pre-1967 armistice lines with some unspecified land swaps. However, he made no comparable demand on the Palestinians to give up their "right of return" claim under which millions of "refugees" and their descendants would be permitted to populate pre-1967 Israel and destroy the Jewish character of Israel in the process.
In keeping with this totally unbalanced approach, the 2012 Democratic Party platform removes language that has appeared in previous Democratic Party platforms on the Palestinian refugee issue. The 2004 and 2008 platforms had stipulated that, as part of the peace process in creating a Palestinian state, "the issue of Palestinian refugees" should be resolved "by allowing them to settle there, rather than in Israel." The 2012 Democratic Party platform is silent on the issue. . . (Read more)

Note: Late breaking news indicates that the DNC has now reversed itself on this position. Please remain watchful over all matters related to either party's position related to Israel throughout this campaign season.

A Nation Turns to Repentance

National Day of Repentance

Praise Report

8.27.12

Dear brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, those a part of the National Day of Repentance project,

I have a great praise report !

First a Scripture which you may know well: " For I know the plans I have for you, " declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)

This Scripture first applied to Israel thousands of years ago; I believe it applies today to each of us as believers in Christ; and it also applies this very moment to this beloved country, when a battle is ongoing for the soul of this nation, founded thanks to His Liberty and His Divine Providence. He has a plan to revive this nation, to give us a hope and a future. The Living God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob wishes to forgive our sin and heal our land, and is encouraging us to do our part to trigger His participation. It's all part of His Covenant. He will hear from heaven and will forgive our sin and heal our land, if we ---His people called by His name--- will humble ourselves, and pray, and seek His face, and really turn from our wicked ways.
My encouraging praise report is that I see every evidence that the Holy Spirit is encouraging more and more believers to join in this movement to pray and repent at this critical time. A season of repentance has begun.
As an example of the breadth of participants we have been joined by an Anglican priest from Southern California, a Baptist pastor from Alabama, and a 93 year old sister in Christ praying in her home in Arizona. May this project move throughout he body of Christ, across denominations! Over 28 States and four other countries are now represented. We are expecting a surge of interest in the few weeks remaining prior to this year's National Day of Repentance, sundown Tuesday, September 25 through sundown Wednesday, September 26.
On the one hand we want millions in the body of Christ to know about the project so that they can have the option that key day to join with us spending their own time with the Lord ---away from the world and the flesh---fasting, praying, repenting.
We will not be saved by our many hands. In the same way that there were 300 warriors in Gideon's army, here the Holy Spirit represents Gideon; and we spreading the news of the project in our communities will be those "who lapped" {Judges 7:7] and those who will shine our torches and blow trumpets [Judges 7:19-22] for repentance.
For many of you the season of repentance will deepen beginning this Sunday evening, September 16, Rosh Hashanah. That will start ten days of repentance leading up to Yom Kippur and the National Day of Repentance.
God bless you,

Pastor Jeff Daly
