The Daily Brief

1. Jordanian authorities say terror suspects stockpiled Syrian rockets, planned to target Western embassies - Times of Israel

Jordanian authorities have arrested 11 suspected al-Qaeda-linked militants for allegedly planning to attack shopping malls and Western diplomatic missions in the country, the government said Sunday.

- Lord, we thank You for the exposure of these militants, and pray for continued exposure of people planning to attack Western diplomatic missions. We pray for protection for righteous missions. Bring the dark plans to light, we pray. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

- For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light. (Mark 4:22)

2. New poll: Egyptians turning toward Iran, want nuclear weapons
- Foreign Policy

A poll of Egyptians conducted last month shows that they have increasingly positive views of Iran, believe that both Iran and Egypt should obtain nuclear weapons, and still trust their own military more than any other institution in Egypt.

- Lord, we know there is a spiritual connection that needs to be broken. We pray against an ungodly alliance between these two countries. Lord, we know the Bible says there will be much evil in the last days. You desire that none should perish, so we stand in the gap for those who will be saved. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

- So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. Therefore I have poured out My indignation on them; I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath; and I have recompensed their deeds on their own heads," says the Lord God. (Ezekiel 22:30-31)

3. U.S. Makes Deal promising military presence in Mali - World Net Daily

The U.S. may commit military forces to Mali to deal with jihadists in the North African country under a proposed resolution France has drafted for the United Nations Security Council, according to Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin. Analysts believe the resolution, which may pass within the next 30 days, calls for members to provide military training and equipment to halt the spread of jihadists in the western portion of the continent.

- Lord, we pray about this resolution and ask for wisdom for those deciding on it, especially for the involvement of our country. We pray for the people of Mali, that they turn to you as threats to their security arises. Lord, we pray that many jihadists would come out of their false religion and find You. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

- The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)

4. International monitors at US polling spots draw criticism from voter fraud groups - The Hill

United Nations-affiliated election monitors from Europe and central Asia will be at polling places around the U.S. looking for voter suppression activities by conservative groups, a concern raised by civil rights groups during a meeting this week. The intervention has drawn criticism from a prominent conservative-leaning group combating election fraud.

- Lord, we come to You for Your intervention in all polling spots. Let ministering and warring angels be sent to the polling places. Let the plans that would prevent righteousness, justice, and truth from coming forth in the election be confounded and come to nothing. Lord, be with those who are exposing fraud and give them protection and favor with their voice, as they stand for what is right. Lord, awaken Your church to watch and pray at the polling sites and for the natural election in our country. May we be diligent and obedient in action to Your call. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

- Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble. (2 Peter 1:10)

5. U.S. stance on marijuana unchanged by legalization votes: official - Reuters

A top Justice Department official has told "60 Minutes" the federal government is ready to combat any "dangers" of state-sanctioned recreational pot, amid criticism of the Obama administration for its relative silence on legalization drives in three states.

- Lord, we pray for a spiritual awakening in our country, that addictions and a desire for drugs would be broken. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

- Therefore please hear this, you afflicted and drunk but not with wine. Thus says your Lord, the Lord and your God, who pleads the cause of His people: See, I have taken out of your hand the cup of trembling, and the dregs of the cup of my fury. (Isaiah 51:21-23)

Council on Foreign Relations wins third presidential debate

There was a clear winner of the third and final presidential debate. It was the Council on Foreign Relations. In fact, NBC News featured a post-debate analysis with Richard Haass, CFR president. Haass writes on the CFR website: "A good deal can and will be said about Monday night's foreign policy debate, but the bottom line may be that it was not so much about foreign policy and not so much a debate." True, and that's the way the CFR likes it. The CFR has been wielding it's globalist, one world order foreign policy pressure stick since it began in 1921. The CFR mission is to help leaders "better understand the world and the foreign policy choices facing the United States." Candidates not having differences on foreign policy means the CFR has done its job.

The occupant of the Oval Office made the case to the American people that his foreign policy supports Israel and brings democracy to Islam. The challenger said he would stand by Israel and incentivize Islam to become good global citizens by getting rid of the radicals. Democracy, global citizenship, Middle East peace, are all CFR themes. Having the two presidential candidates compliment one another and agree with one another that there may be small differences between them on foreign policy, but not major ones is a major victory for the CFR. But not for the American people. The CFR's foreign policy agenda is set to continue no matter who is elected.
Haass said, "There was also a surprising degree of agreement between the two candidates: the wisdom of pushing Hosni Mubarak out of the president's office as the protesters gathered in Tahrir Square; the need to prevent Iran from gaining nuclear weapons; concern for Pakistan's future stability; the utility of drone strikes as a tool of counter-terrorism; the desirability of challenging China on areas of disagreement in a way that did not rule out selective cooperation; and the importance of helping the Syrian opposition by doing all that was possible to see that any weapons supplied did not end up in the "wrong," i.e. radical, hands." Yep, the CFR has to be pleased and content.
One thing distinguished the challenger from the occupant--Israel. The challenger said emphatically he would stand by Israel if it were attacked and that there needed to be a harder line against Iran having nuclear weapons. The occupant said US-Israel cooperation is "unprecedented." The documented rift between the occupant and the Prime Minister of Israel is so deep that the occupant makes fun of the Prime Minister behind his back, has made him leave the White House through the trash alley, and has refused to dine with him. There will be a difference on Israel with a change of presidents. But as Yeshua said in Matthew 7:20, "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." Actions speak louder than words.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

14 Days Until Election Day

Military Voters Not Receiving Ballots

Servicemen in four states have not received their absentee voting ballots, despite being past the deadline. Ballots from military families overseas are at record low numbers. The U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear Ohio's appeal for military voters to get three extra days to vote. Something is definitely wrong and will impact the November election. Military servicemen and their voting dependents favor Mitt Romney by 40%, according to recent polls.

- May God intervene to protect our military service members' right to vote. May those responsible for hindering their votes be exposed and may an extraordinary effort be made to ensure that every service member's vote is honored immediately!

- "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." (Matt. 21:22)

Joel Rosenberg: Debate Analysis

OBAMA VOWS TO STAND WITH ISRAEL "AFTER" AN IRANIAN ATTACK

(Washington, D.C., October 23, 2012) -- Discussion over the real and looming threat of a major war in the Tel Aviv-to-Tehran corridor dominated the final presidential debate last night. Iran, Israel and the disaster in Syria were mentioned more than any other countries -- more than China, far more than Russia. Canada and Mexico were never mentioned last night.

Indeed, the sharpest and most impassioned confrontations between President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney came over the Iran nuclear threat, the prospect of Israel launching a full-scale war against Iran, and whether the U.S. will stand with Israel as a faithful ally.

However, one of the most disturbing moments for me personally came when moderator Bob Schieffer of CBS News asked: "Would either of you be willing to declare that an attack on Israel is an attack on the United States, which of course is the same promise that we give to our close allies like Japan? And if you made such a declaration, would not that deter Iran? It's certainly deterred the Soviet Union for a long, long time when we made that - when we made that promise to our allies."
This was a flawed question. The far more important question is: If diplomacy and sanctions and covert operations don't stop Iran from getting the Bomb, would you fully support Israel if Prime Minister Netanyahu feels he has no choice but to order preemptive military strikes on Iran.
Nevertheless, President Obama accepted the premise of the question and replied, "I will stand with Israel if they are attacked." Mr. Obama tried to portray himself as a strong ally of Israel throughout the rest of that answer and the entirety of the evening. But consider his answer more carefully. The President did not say unequivocally that he would stand with Israel in a preemptive strike on Iran, if that were the last option available. Rather, Mr. Obama insisted he would help Israel after Iran attacks the Jewish state. But if Iran attacks Israel with nuclear weapons, it would be too late for American military assistance to do much good. Indeed, it is immoral for an American president to vow to defend Israel only after she has been attacked with nuclear weapons. Yet this is the President's position.
True, President Obama noted that "as long as I'm president of the United States, Iran will not get a nuclear weapon." But as I explain in detail in my new book, Israel At War: Inside The Nuclear Showdown With Iran, Israeli leaders aren't convinced they can trust Mr. Obama to prevent Iran from getting the Bomb. The see time passing. The Israelis see the Obama administration interested in never-ending diplomacy with Iranian leaders who have shown no serious interest in making a deal despite years of attempts. The Israelis see Iran getting closer to the Bomb, and they see the White House constantly undermining the Israeli military option, and signaling that when the U.S. says "all options are on the table" that the President and his advisors don't really mean they are seriously considering military options.

Romney said at the debate -- and/or to read an excerpt from the new e-book, ISRAEL AT WAR, or to find links to the latest news and analysis of events and trends in the U.S., Israel, North Africa, Russia, and the Middle East -- please go to: http://flashtrafficblog.wordpress.com/.]

FRC: Clarifying the HHS Mandate

Liberty Institute Sends Letter to HHS to Clarify Family Research Council's Requirements Under the HHS Mandate
October 23, 2012

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Family Research Council (FRC) announced today that the Liberty Institute has submitted a letter to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on behalf of FRC, asking for clarification of whether FRC will be forced to cover sterilizations, abortifacients and contraceptives in its employee health care plans. If FRC does not hear from HHS by November 5, FRC will consider legal action challenging the enforcement of the HHS employer mandate.

J. Michael Johnson, senior counsel at the Liberty Institute, notes in the letter that "FRC believes that it should qualify as an exempt religious employer, but under the strict definition provided in the amended interim final regulations issued and made effective in August 2011, it may not. Because the precise application and final scope of the religious employer exemption remains ambiguous, we are hereby requesting a formal determination by the Department of Health and Human Services on whether or not FRC will be made to comply with the mandate. If you determine the religious exemption does apply to FRC, a legal challenge may be avoided."
Johnson and Liberty Institute already serve as counsel on pending federal court litigation challenging Obamacare on behalf of other religious institutions. "If FRC is forced to comply with this unconscionable mandate, we will be happy to file an immediate challenge on its behalf," said Johnson.
Of the letter FRC President Tony Perkins made the following comments:

"It is unbelievable that there is even a need to submit such a letter, since FRC and many religious organizations like it around the country should be recognized as such by the Obama administration. Religious bookstores, universities, and many other Christian-owned businesses have already been targeted, and many are fighting back in court against this unconstitutional attack on religious liberty. If HHS responds to this letter by insisting we comply with this unconstitutional mandate, then we will pursue other options to defend our religious liberty.

"Family Research Council will not comply with a mandate that forces us to violate the statement of faith that every employee agrees to. We are committed to repealing and replacing President Obama's unjust health care law, which uses taxpayer dollars for abortion, further burdens American families, raises taxes and restricts religious liberty," concluded Perkins.

OVER 2,000 JEWS PRAY FOR GIRL SHOT BY TALIBAN

In a touching display of support and concern for a young Pakistani girl who stood up to the Taliban and was rewarded with a gunshot wound to her head, more than 2,000 Jews prayed-in unison-for her recovery. The event was held at the Anti Defamation League's (ADL) 18th annual Concert Against Hate at Washington's Kennedy Center. ADL National Director Abraham Foxman dedicated the event to 14-year-old Malala Yousafzai.

"Malala Yousafzai was courageous in her determination to stand up to the forces of evil and extremism, and to speak clearly for her conviction that women deserve better from a society and a system that has failed them in Pakistan," said Foxman.

The concert featured music by the National Symphony Orchestra and testimonials about extraordinary acts of courage. The concert also paid tribute to other individuals who, like Yousafzai, have displayed extraordinary acts of bravery, including Irene Fogel Weiss, an Auschwitz survivor and, posthumously, Officer Moira Ann Smith, who saved countless individuals at the World Trade Center on 9/11.

Yousafzai, who was shot by the Taliban for merely advocating on behalf of women's rights for education, was flown to Birmingham, England, where she is continuing her medical care.

- Thank God for the Jewish people who prayed for the wounded girl. Thank God that He has heard their prayers and ask Him to bless those who were at the event and responded in prayer. Continue to cry out for her healing.

- "Then the king answered and said to the man of God, 'Please entreat the favor of the LORD your God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored to me.' So the man of God entreated the LORD, and the king's hand was restored to him, and became as before." (1 Kings 13:6)

10,000 Egyptian Youth Gather in Desert to Worship

"To sit among over 10,000 young people, worship with them in a roaring holy noise, listen to powerful and challenging messages and pray for God's powerful presence in our lives; really, it is hard to describe in words."

(Santa Ana, CA)-Increased persecution, the election of a Muslim Brotherhood president, the death of the Coptic Orthodox Church pope and thousands fleeing their homeland in fear of an uncertain future.

Followers of Jesus in Egypt have faced major challenges on their journey of faith in 2012.

But there have been rays of the light of Jesus breaking through the gloom.

Earlier this month about 10,000 Christian young people came from all across Egypt for three days to worship the Lord and to seek God's blessing for their country. The worshippers, mostly ranging from ages 13 to 30, gathered from 10 o'clock in the morning until 8 each evening. Many traveled hundreds of miles to the worship site in the middle of the desert north of Cairo.
"To sit among over 10,000 young people, worship with them in a roaring holy noise, listen to powerful and challenging messages and pray for God's powerful presence in our lives; really, it is hard to describe in words," says a Christian leader. "Sitting at the very back of the small soccer stadium gave me a good view of the scene. Thousands were sitting to my right, thousands to my left and thousands more in the middle. Hardly any empty gaps!
"The wonderful fact is that these young people came from all over Egypt. About 3,000 of them came all the way from many cities located in southern Egypt. They were accommodated in conference facilities available nearby. As for the remaining 7,000, they had to come all the way, every day, riding in the morning from Cairo and Alexandria in about 130 big buses, and then ride back home every evening for the night."
According to the church leader, another 2 million followed the event on Internet and live satellite transmission. The three-day event was called "One Thing." The theme of the meetings was taken from Psalm 27:4: "One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple."
"The worship music was loud, the lights were attractive and the entire setting of this large youth conference was quite impressive," states the leader. "However, what was really more impressive and touching, from my point of view, were those tears coming down the cheeks of boys and girls, and those genuine shouts of the name of the Lord that echoed across the silence of the desert proclaiming that our Father God is the Lord and Master in the hearts of a generation of Christian youth in Egypt.
"Imagine the empowering, heavenly force that those crowds of young people have taken back with them as they flooded back into their cities, towns and villages all across Egypt, assured that God the Holy Spirit is Himself living within them, determined to make them a blessing for the nation. God is at work in Egypt, no doubt!"
Jerry Dykstra, media relations director for Open Doors USA, adds: "The description the Christian leader gives of 10,000 young people coming together for worship in the desert is so inspiring. I am sure there was some danger involved regarding security issues for this huge event. We can learn so much from our fellow Christians who face persecution and an uncertain future.
Pray to the Lord that He will continue to strengthen Christians in Egypt and give them boldness and courage."

Egypt is ranked No. 15 on the Open Doors World Watch List of 50 countries which are the worst persecutors of Christians. (Source: Open Doors USA)
