The Daily Brief

1. Romney 50%, Obama 46% Among Likely Voters - Gallup

Half of likely voters now prefer Mitt Romney for president and 46% back President Barack Obama in Gallup interviewing through Monday.

- Almighty, God, we worship You this day with thanksgiving and adoration because You are great and worthy of our praise! You have blessed the people of America beyond other nations. We again submit this election into Your all-powerful hands! We ask that hearts and minds align with the clear instruction of Your Word, esteem life in the womb, and uphold the Constitution and Bill of Rights- those unequaled documents You guided our forefathers to write. We pray for national and local leaders whose actions esteem the godly foundations You gave America. In Jesus' name we pray!

- " Now to Him who us able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and In Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. " (Ephesians 3:20-21)

2. Candy Crowley: He Was Right - Washington Free Beacon

After the debate, debate moderator Candy Crowley said Republican nominee Mitt Romney was "right in the main" but "picked the wrong word" on the Obama administration's immediate response to the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, that left four Americans dead.

Crowley interrupted Romney during the debate, insisting that President Obama had in fact called the attack an "act of terror." - Update (12:22 AM): After the debate, "Romney was actually right on Libya" trended on Twitter in the United States:

- Father, it took two whole weeks for the White House to admit that the horrific attacks on our embassies, including the vicious murder of our Ambassador and three others, were premeditated acts of terror against the United States. In spite of the incorrect information interjected by the moderator during last night's debate, we now know the facts are clear and transcripts don't lie. Our highest leaders apologized to the entire world for the use of freedom of speech (a single you-tube video), but have yet to take action against the terrorists who committed these acts of war against our country. Father, this is unconscionable! May America elect American leaders that stand up for America - in Jesus' name we pray!

- " Uphold us according to Your word that (we) may live; and do not let (us) be ashamed of (our) hope. You reject all those who stray from Your statutes, for their deceit is their falsehoods." (Psalm 119:116,118)

3. CDC says another 19 people diagnosed with meningitis in U.S. outbreak- Chicago Tribune

The CDC said there were two additional cases of infection in joints after a steroid injection but these were not confirmed as meningitis, bringing the total of infections nationwide to 233. The death toll from the unprecedented outbreak was unchanged at 15, the CDC said. The new cases were in Tennessee (6), Florida (2), Indiana (2), Maryland (1), Michigan (1), New Hampshire (2), New Jersey (2), Ohio (2), and Virginia (1).

The federal Food and Drug Administration on Monday said it had widened its investigation to other drugs produced by New England Compounding Center, the specialist pharmacy at the center of the outbreak. The Massachusetts company faces multiple investigations and lawsuits over the tainted medication linked to the meningitis scare.

- Heavenly Father, in Jesus name we ask for divine healing for those who have contracted meningitis. We pray that You will halt this outbreak of meningitis and joint infections, and reveal their source with clarity. Thank You Lord!

- " He sent His Word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions."(Psalm 107:20)

4. Iran Launching Massive Arrests Of Evangelicals- Worthy News

Massive arrests of evangelical Protestant Christians, including many former Muslims, are reported in Iran, with men and women being dragged to prisons across the Islamic nation. "We have learned that at least 100, but perhaps as many as 400 people, have been detained over the last 10 days," said Firouz Khandjani, a council member of the 'Church of Iran' house church movement.

Speaking from an undisclosed location, he told Worthy News late Saturday, October 13, that forces of the feared intelligence service, who he called "Iran's Gestapo", broke up worship services in Esfehan, Shiraz and Tehran areas. "They are of several movements. But it has become clear that Protestant Christians are now viewed as enemy number one of the state," Khandjani said. "We need urgent prayers," he added when asked what believers need most.

- Lord, we pray for mercy, strength and supernatural power to be exhibited to and through these precious servants of the Most High God. Protect and help their families Lord, giving them wisdom in this difficult time. We pray for their captors to be so touched by the actions and faith of our brethren that multitudes of "Iran's Gestapo" will be transformed through the blood of Jesus. We bind the actions of this strong man against the church of the living God, in Jesus mighty name, and thank You that You always hear our prayers.

- " How can one enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house." (Matthew 12:29) " For the Lord will not cast off His people, nor will He forsake His inheritance."(Psalm 94:14)

5. Militant Suspected in Attack in Libya Remains At Large - Wall Street Journal

The founder of Libya's Islamist militia Ansar al-Sharia was at the U.S. consulate compound during the deadly attack here, Libyan officials say, but he remains free a week after those allegations were disclosed to Libyan political leaders and U.S. investigators in Tripoli.

Ahmed Abu Khattalah-who current Libyan officials and former Islamic militants describe as propagating an al Qaeda-style ideology-was seen during the Sept. 11 attack at the diplomatic mission where two of the four Americans died, said two senior Libyan security officials familiar with the investigation.

- In the name of Jesus we pray for an aggressive search and capture of this man for his acts of war against America. May Americans unite to demand justice for the blood of our Ambassador, and the others killed in the 9/11/2012 terrorist attacks.

- " The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the unfaithful for the upright." (Proverbs 21: 18) "But he who is perverse in his ways will suddenly fall. " (Proverbs 28:18)

White House "offense" aside, might does not make right

Part of the problem with true "democracy" is that might makes right. It is the foundation stone for socialism, communism, fascism, even Islamism. The one who yells the loudest or has the most troops, wins. Law doesn't matter, rules don't matter. Morals don't matter. Might matters. Preserving individual rights through the rule of law is a keystone reason the Founding Fathers of the United States chose a Constitutional Republic over democracy. In a Constitutional Republic, representatives are elected that vow to follow the rule of law. And it requires morals. John Adams said in October 1798, "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

No matter how aggressive, nor how loud, might does not make right in a Constitutional Republic. The occupant of the Oval Office can yell the loudest, but that doesn't make his debate answers right, except perhaps in the eyes of those who equate aggression with right. Challenged over the Administration misleading Americans about the attack on the US Embassy in Benghazi, the president said, "And the suggestion that anybody in my team, whether the Secretary of State, our U.N. Ambassador, anybody on my team would play politics or mislead when we've lost four of our own, governor, is offensive. That's not what we do. That's not what I do as president, that's not what I do as Commander in Chief. "
The president's first Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel said in February of 2009, "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before." The president, his secretary of state, his UN Ambassador, his defense secretary, and his press secretary refused to admit that the Benghazi murders were a terrorist attack until September 19 when the director of the National Counterterrorism Center said, the four Americans were killed "in the course of a terrorist attack on our embassy." On September 20, the president told a candidate forum on Univsion network, "What we do know is that the natural protests that arose because of the outrage over the video were used as an excuse by extremists to see if they can also directly harm US interests."
The president's September 25 UN speech continued to maintain that the violence in Benghazi was related to an anti-Mohammed video, saying, "That is what we saw play out in the last two weeks, as a crude and disgusting video sparked outrage throughout the Muslim world. Now, I have made it clear that the United States government had nothing to do with this video, and I believe its message must be rejected by all who respect our common humanity." Meantime, Press Secretary Jay Carney maintained that there was no evidence of a terrorist attack.
The White House may have been using the crisis to cover up its Libyan ally al Qaeda extracting revenge for the US killing of an al Qaeda leader in Pakistan and/or to drive home its point at the UN that religious speech needed regulated when it is critical of other religions. The president said he found offensive the suggestion that anyone in his administration would mislead the American people when "we've lost four of our own." Quite frankly, Americans should find it exponentially offensive that this president did mislead them on this very subject--until the facts came out nearly a month later. Romans 16:18 says, "For those who are such are not serving our Lord Yeshua The Messiah, but their own appetites, and by good words and fair speeches they deceive the hearts of the pure." Do not be deceived. Might does not make right.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

On the Campaign Trail:

20 Days Until Election Day

Romney V. Obama -- Round II

That was perhaps the most confrontational presidential debate I have ever witnessed. There were moments when it looked as if it could come to blows. That was surprising given the conventional wisdom that the candidates would go after the women's vote. Political analysts will tell you that such aggressiveness usually does not attract female voters.

One thing that jumped out at me throughout the 90 minute debate was the breathtaking effort by Barack Obama to claim the conservative position on a variety of issues. Thus Obama, who has tried to limit oil, natural gas and coal production, attempted to brag about the increased drilling activity that has occurred in spite of his efforts to shut it down.

He embraced the Second Amendment right to bear arms while he has spent four years putting judges on the courts who will do everything they can to limit and undermine that right. He praised intact families as key for the country. But I cannot think of one program he has promoted that would strengthen intact families. And I can recall only one speech in his entire presidency devoted to the subject.

But perhaps most extraordinary was Obama's embrace of free enterprise. He has spent the past four years attacking major industries. He made a big government takeover of health care his top priority. He has repeatedly vowed to raise taxes so that government, rather than the private sector, can redistribute wealth. But now, three weeks before the election, Obama wants us to believe he is a champion of free enterprise. Amazing! (Gary Bauer)

Quick Victory for Indiana Pastor

Indiana Pastor Mark Powell wears his clerical collar everyday as part of his religious beliefs and practices. So, when he went to have his passport picture taken, he was, of course, wearing his normal attire . . . never thinking it could cause his passport to be denied.

In September, Rev. Powell applied for his passport with the State Department's National Passport Information Center and subsequently, received a denial letter. According to the letter, the State Department rejected Rev. Powell's passport application because in his photograph he is "not shown in normal attire."

Last week, Liberty Institute sent a demand letter to the U.S. State Department on behalf of Rev. Powell, explaining that the denial was a complete violation of federal law, including the Religious Freedom Restoration Act and the First Amendment.

Immediately after receiving our letter, the State Department contacted us and admitted the passport denial was an error. They approved the application - photograph included - and even overnighted Rev. Powell his passport that day. (The Liberty Institute; Oct. 10, 2012)
