Merry Christmas from CHPP!

December 24, 2012

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder. . . Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end." (Isaiah 9:6a,7a KJV)

Our Christmas Wish for You

Our Christmas Wish for You

December, 2012

Dear Friends,

Sometimes one of you expresses what is within our hearts during this Christmas season, even better than we can.

Tonight we share with you, in part, a greeting from John Robb, Chairman, International Prayer Council, just received this evening.

Quoting John:

It is time to greet you again during this Christmas season . . . His word enjoins us to "give thanks in all circumstances" even when our world seems to be entering a time of greater moral and spiritual darkness. The good news is that as Isaiah the prophet saw: "The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned." Darkness always comes before Messiah, whether the first time He came or the second. The reason for rejoicing then and now is "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulder. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." As we celebrate this year, we are much closer to the complete fulfillment of Isaiah's word and that is something that should make us rejoice!

We thank John for helping us to put this season into perspective, as we turn our hearts to worship the One who was born in that manger, almost 2,000 years ago.

May God's peace enfold you and yours, and may His angels keep charge over you, protecting you and keeping you safe, in these dark days.

"Arise, shine;
For your light has come!
And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.
For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth,
And deep darkness the people;
But the Lord will arise over you,
And His glory will be seen upon you.
The Gentiles shall come to your light,
And kings to the brightness of your rising."
(Isaiah 60:1-3)

ONE SOLITARY LIFE

Our Annual Christmas Message:

One Solitary Life

He was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant. He grew up in another village, where he worked in a carpenter shop until he was 30. Then, for three years, he was an itinerant preacher.

He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never had a family or owned a home. He didn't go to college. He never lived in a big city. He never traveled 200 miles from the place where he was born.

He did none of the things that usually accompany greatness. He had no credentials but himself.

He was only 33 when the tide of public opinion turned against him. His friends ran away. One of them denied him.

He was turned over to his enemies and went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed to a cross between two thieves. While he was dying, his executioners gambled for his garments, the only property he had on earth. When he was dead, he was laid in a borrowed grave, through the pity of a friend.
Twenty centuries have come and gone, and today he is the central figure of the human race. I am well within the mark when I say that:

all the armies that ever marched,

all the navies that ever sailed,
all the parliaments that ever sat,

all the kings that ever reigned

--put together--
have not affected the life of man on this earth

as much as that one, solitary life.

Psalm 150

Let All Things Praise the LORD!

1 Praise the LORD!

Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty firmament!

2 Praise Him for His mighty acts;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!

3 Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet;
Praise Him with the lute and harp!
4 Praise Him with the timbrel and dance;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!
5 Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with clashing cymbals!

6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.

Praise the LORD!
