The Daily Brief

1. Benghazi emails show State Department had heavy hand in watering down account of attack - Fox News

State Department officials repeatedly objected to -- and tried to water down -- references to Islamic extremist groups and prior security warnings in the administration's initial internal story-line on the Benghazi attack, according to dozens of emails and notes released by the White House late Wednesday.

The documents also showed the White House, along with several other departments, played a role in editing the so-called "talking points," despite claims from the White House that it was barely involved. And they showed then-CIA Director David Petraeus objected to the watered-down version that would ultimately be used as the basis for U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice's flawed comments on several TV shows the Sunday after the attack.

Lord, we pray that You continue these revelations of sinister plots against the people of America, exposing them to the light of truth. We ask that all who participated in these schemes be held not only accountable, but that justice will be served. We pray for comfort for the families of those killed in Benghazi, that all anger would leave their hearts so that peace would replace their grief.

2. IRS BLAMES '2 ROGUE WORKERS' FOR TARGETING TEA PARTY- WND

The Internal Revenue Service is now claiming two "rogue" employees in the agency's Cincinnati office are responsible for "overly aggressive" handling of requests by conservative groups for tax-exempt status, CNN is reporting. A congressional source told the cable network that in a meeting on Capitol Hill, acting IRS Commissioner Steven Miller described the employees as being "off the reservation," but it wasn't clear what the alleged behavior involved. Another source familiar with Miller's discussions with congressional investigators says those rogue staffers have already been disciplined.

3. In Wake of Scandal, Obama Fires IRS Boss - Who Was Leaving Anyway - Fox News

President Obama announced Wednesday that acting IRS Commissioner Steven Miller would resign in the wake of the agency scandal in which conservative groups were targeted -- though Miller was apparently set to step down anyway.

An official close to Miller told Fox News, shortly after Obama's brief announcement, that the IRS chief was "set to resign the position of acting commission as of early June." He was planning to leave the IRS entirely a "couple of months later, regardless of the current controversy," the source said.

4. Holder faces grilling at Capitol Hill hearing - Fox News

Attorney General Eric Holder repeatedly told the House Judiciary Committee Wednesday that he could not answer any questions related to claims the Justice Department infringed on the First Amendment rights of The Associated Press when it secretly collected telephone records of its reporters and editors over a two-month period last year. Holder said he had rescued himself last year from any involvement in the investigation of national security leaks and therefore could not answer any questions related to the case. When pressed to provide additional comment, Holder said: "I am not familiar with the reasons why (the subpoena was issued). I am simply not a part of the investigation." Instead, he said actions taken by the Justice Department were being made by Deputy Attorney General James Cole.

- Father, we ask that You remove Mr. Holder from his position. His actions to date have been riddled with wickedness and lying.

5. Boehner Asks: 'My Question Is Who's Going to Jail?'- Fox News

House Ways and Means Committee Schedules Hearing on IRS Scandal for Friday

Congressional Republicans -- as well as some Democrats -- are putting the screws to the Obama administration as they investigate a rash of potential scandals, lining up hearings and inquiries as top leaders suggest jail time for the worst offenders. "My question isn't about who's going to resign -- my question is who is going to jail over this scandal?" House Speaker John Boehner said Wednesday. The speaker was referring to the IRS practice of singling out Tea Party and other conservative organizations for extra scrutiny -- a practice confirmed in a watchdog's official report this week.

6. Obama's Brother Got IRS OK - Newsmax

IRS Stalled Conservatives While Giving Liberals a Pass on Tax Exemptions

Evidence is mounting that the Internal Revenue Service gave far better treatment to left-wing groups than those on the right, with data showing the agency approved dozens of liberal and progressive organizations as tax-exempt while leaving conservative groups hanging. No tea party applications were approved in a 27-month period beginning February 2010. But numerous applications from liberal and progressive groups were given tax-exempt status during the same period, USA Today reported. The details come at the same time that it was revealed that the IRS expedited tax-exempt status for a charity run by President Barack Obama's half brother, despite numerous questions about how it is run. The application from the Barack H. Obama Foundation was even backdated.

7. 7 missing after deadly, mile-wide tornado rips through North Texas, killing at least 6 - Fox News

Authorities searched for survivors Thursday after a powerful storm system that spawned multiple tornadoes tore through two North Texas neighborhoods, killing at least six adults.

- Lord, let this be yet another opportunity for Your Holy Spirit to work in the hearts of the people of North Texas. Comfort those who have lost loved ones, and grant them faith and hope.

On the surface, the Arab League's improved peace initiative offers Israel everything it ever dreamed of -- normal relations with an entire region that has long objected to the very existence of the Jewish state, and even the chance to keep some war-won land.

The Persecuted Church

Today's Focus: The Persecuted Church

"God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble." (Psalm 46:1)

1. Egypt intensifies crackdown on Christians - Patheos

A Christian schoolteacher in Egypt has been detained by authorities for allegedly insulting Islam and Muhammad. Demyana Emad is twenty-three and teaches social studies at the Sheik Sultan Primary School in Luxor. She denies the charge and claims extremists urged students to falsely accuse her.

Conformity is the supreme value for the Muslim Brotherhood, and the response to Christians and political dissidents has been an ongoing but intensifying crackdown.

"In recent months, there has been a notable increase in judicial harassment of opposition activists, bloggers, comedians, protesters, and others," reports Amnesty International. "News about fresh charges of insulting President Mohamed Morsi or other officials, or of 'defaming' religion - as well as sweeping arrests of opposition protesters - are now the norm." (Read more)

2. Muslim Lawyers Threaten Christians in Malaysia Over Use of Word "Allah" - UCA News

An evangelical church group's Facebook message calling Christians to pray for "Allah's blessings" on the country has riled up a group of Muslim lawyers who are demanding state Islamic bodies act against what they have branded a "criminal" offence against their creed.

The Muslim Lawyers Society of Malaysia (PPPMM) today accused the National Evangelical Christian Fellowship of Malaysia (NECF) of committing "criminal" blasphemy against Islam by misappropriating the name of the Islamic god for their purposes, even as the dispute is being heard in the Court of Appeal.

"It is an offence for any party to deliberately and continuously use Allah and a few other words with roots from Islam in the context of a non-Islamic religious for any purpose. (Read more)

3. Nigeria Declares a State of Emergency as Boko Haram Continues to Kill Christians - Christianity Today

igerian Protestants and Catholics are largely divided over a government proposal to grant amnesty to members of Boko Haram, the violent Islamist sect whose attacks and suicide bombings have killed more than 4,000 people and destroyed hundreds of churches in northern Nigeria since 2009.

Labeling recent attacks as a "declaration of war," President Goodluck Jonathan has declared a state of emergency in three of Nigeria's northeastern states. More military troops will be sent to Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states, believed to be the strongholds of the sect, though the Associated Press notes "a similar effort [previously] failed to stop the bloodshed." THE MADISONIAN

Immigration

Last week, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted on a number of enforcement amendments to the amnesty bill (S. 744). Every Democrat along with Jeff Flake and Lindsey Graham voted down all of the efforts to ensure that the enforcement measures are implemented before any legalization goes into effect. It is clear that the bill will pass the committee on Tuesday when they finish dispatching with all the amendments. Once the bill heads to the floor, presumably in June, we will witness the same dynamic. Republicans will propose stronger enforcement triggers; Senators like Marco Rubio will vote for them knowing that they will be voted down along party lines; they will then vote to pass the final bill.

It is time for conservatives to start demanding answers from their Republican Senators. All but a few Republicans have been ambivalent about this bill. Now that Democrats have made it clear they will oppose all efforts to strengthen the enforcement, it's time for Mitch McConnell and other Republican leaders to publically take a stand on the bill. Concurrently, we must begin pressing House leaders and House Judiciary Committee members to begin taking a strong stance against the bill while pushing a security-first agenda - one that prioritizes border security and an overhaul of our visa tracking system, especially from countries that represent a security risk.

A message for our Un-leaders

The Daily Jot:

A message for our Un-leaders

. . . Let us take inventory of just this week. The Attorney General is running away from the decision to spy on Associated Press, saying he "recused" himself from the decision. Really? You are the top law enforcement officer of the nation and you recused yourself from deciding whether the largest news organization in America should be spied on by the government? Have you no decency, Mr. Holder? You sell guns to Mexican Drug dealers that result in US Border Agents being killed and wounded and you do nothing to stop the Justice Department from trampling the First Amendment rights of the free press, yet you think that you can hide behind a personal decision to recuse yourself? It is time for you to go--to jail!

Then there is the IRS--the gestapo of America. TEA Party and other conservatives have been claiming for years that the IRS has been harassing them. The news media just turned a blind eye to it, calling them wild-eyed conspiracy theorists. I guess now that they are reporting on it, it is no longer a theory. The IRS apologizes and that is supposed to be the end of it. The occupant said that he had nothing to do with it. But it just so happens that anyone who was critical of your White House policies was a possible target of the IRS. Is this mere coincidence as you would have us believe? Kind of like a spontaneous demonstration over an anti-Muslim video causing the deaths of four Americans, and you were nowhere to be found?

Fast and Furious, Benghazi, The Muslim Brotherhood, the IRS, Spygate on AP, refusing to enforce border security, refusing to enforce the marriage laws, refusing to abide by offshore drilling laws--this "president" is overseeing the most vile and despicable dismantling of the American society in history. Proverbs 21:12 says, "The righteous man wisely considers the house of the wicked: but God overthrows the wicked for their wickedness." Now is the time that we must consider the house of the wicked and pray Psalm 109:2, "Let his days be few; and let another take his office." There are many Americans who do stand in the gap, armed with their hearts and their prayers. God will not be mocked. The innocent blood cries out for recompense.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

German Home School Family Denied Asylum

Romeikes-German Home School Family-Denied Asylum,
Told their Case is "not sufficient"
Ruling will be appealed.
(Source: Home School Legal Defense Association)
(Purcellville, VA)-On May 14, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the Obama Administration's denial of asylum granted to the Romeike family.

The Romeikes fled Germany in 2008 when they were subjected to criminal prosecution for homeschooling. They were granted asylum in 2010 by Immigration Judge Lawrence O. Burman, but that grant was overturned by the Board of Immigration Appeals in 2012. A three-judge panel of the Sixth Circuit heard the Romeikes' appeal on April 23 in Cincinnati, and issued today's unanimous decision against the family.

"We believe the Sixth Circuit is wrong and we will appeal their decision," said Michael Farris, Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) Founder and Chairman. "America has room for this family and we will do everything we can to help them."

The court said that the Romeikes had not made a sufficient case and that the United States has not opened its doors to every victim of unfair treatment. Although the court acknowledged that the U.S. Constitution recognizes the rights of parents to direct the education and upbringing of their children, it refused to concede that the harsh treatment of religiously and philosophically motivated homeschoolers in Germany amounts to persecution within our laws on asylum.

"Germany continues to persecute homeschoolers," said Mike Donnelly, HSLDA Director of International Affairs. "The court ignored mountains of evidence that homeschoolers are harshly fined and that custody of their children is gravely threatened-something most people would call persecution. This is what the Romeikes will suffer if they are sent back to Germany.

HSLDA will appeal the Sixth Circuit's ruling. (Read more)

Prayer:

Father, we ask that you make a way where there seems to be no way for this family. We pray for the minds of all judges in the path of this case to be open toward the plight of the Romeikes. Please grant wisdom and favor to their defense team as well, and cause this case to be overturned on appeal.

- "He stores up sound siwdomfor the uprigt; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guard the paths of justice." [Proverbs 2:6,7a]

IRS Targeted Billy Graham Too!

IRS Targeted Billy Graham Too!

Perhaps the most startling revelation so far is news of the IRS jihad against the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan's Purse. According to a letter released yesterday by Reverend Franklin Graham to President Obama and Vice President Biden, IRS agents were dispatched to the offices of both organizations last October.

While they were ultimately cleared of any wrongdoing, Graham writes that "precious resources" were wasted "servicing the IRS agents in our offices." Why did IRS agents descend on the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan's Purse?

As Rev. Graham recounts in his letter, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association ran ads supporting North Carolina's marriage amendment and later ran ads encouraging Americans to "vote for Biblical values" in last year's presidential election. Simply exercising their First Amendment rights led to IRS agents occupying their offices.

This is truly frightening, my friends. Every pastor in America should be outraged by this shocking example of Big Government being used to intimidate men and women of faith. And something like this does not happen by accident.

The Nixon Administration was well-known for its "enemies list." Clearly the Obama IRS had its own "enemies list" too. Unbelievably, it evidently included Billy and Franklin Graham. (Gary Bauer)

The Good News Corner

The Good News Corner:

In Wake of Gosnell Atrocities, Delaware becomes First State
Since 1973's Roe v Wade to Halt Surgical Abortions

(Dover, DE)-Operation Rescue has learned that Planned Parenthood of Delaware has temporarily halted surgical abortion services. This action makes Delaware the first state to be free from surgical abortions for any significant period of time since the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision decriminalized abortion.

The Planned Parenthood clinic in Dover has temporarily suspended surgical abortions while the Wilmington affiliate has closed completely for cleaning and re-staffing, according to Planned Parenthood statements to the media and on their website. At least three employees, one thought to be troubled abortionist Eric Schaff, have quit or been fired since dangerous conditions at the facilities were exposed.
. . . The two Planned Parenthood facilities are the last remaining abortion facilities in Delaware after two affiliates of the Atlantic Women's Medical Services closed in 2011 when news of their association with Gosnell surfaced and numerous health and safety violations were discovered. . .
Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition in Washington, DC, states: "We celebrate the fact that, for the first time in 40 years, we have a surgically free abortion state. Even though these clinics may re-open shortly, this serves as a powerful reminder that abortion in America will soon be on the scrap heap of history.

"Like with slavery and segregation, our nation is growing tired of the violence of abortion and how it crushes human rights, justice, and equality for all. Every major poll taken shows Americans are troubled by abortion on demand and its tragic consequences.

"Delaware is providing a clear blueprint of how abortion will end in America. The pro-life movement will continue to chip away at Roe v. Wade through local initiatives, regulations and laws, until it no longer has any impact or standing." (Source: Operation Rescue) Read more.
