The Daily Brief

1. Bomb tears through Damascus, killing 14 - USA Today

A powerful bomb ripped through a bustling commercial district of Damascus on Tuesday, killing at least 14 people, shattering store fronts and bringing Syria's civil war to the heart of the capital for the second consecutive day.

- Lord, we pray for the innocent people of Damascus. Protect the people from this civil war. We speak peace to this war, and ask You to stop the enemy in this country. In Jesus Name.

- "If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments, and perform them - you shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely. I will give you peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none will make you afraid; I will rid the land of evil beasts, and the sword will not go through your land. (Leviticus 26:3)

2. Iran: Use of chemical arms by Syria is 'red line' - Jerusalem Post

Iran said on Tuesday it regarded the alleged use of chemical weapons in Syria's civil war as a "red line", echoing major adversary the United States but saying Syrian rebels were the main culprit and not the Damascus government.

- Lord, the use of chemical weapons by either side must be stopped! Deliver the people of Damascus from their government and from the rebels. Put in place a righteous government that brings peace and prosperity to that region. In Jesus Name.

- Deliver the poor and needy; rescue them out of the hand of the wicked. (Psalm 82: 4)

3. GAO Now Investigating DHS Ammo Purchases - US News and World Report

The Government Accountability Office tells Whispers it is now investigating large ammunition purchases made by the Department of Homeland Security. Chuck Young, a spokesman for GAO, says the investigation of the purchases is "just getting underway."

- Father, thank You for this investigation. These large purchases of ammunition have been reason for concern. May the truth be revealed in the motive for acquiring this ammunition.

- Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God. (1 Corinthians 4:5)

4. Obama administration officials threatened whistle-blowers on Benghazi, lawyer says - Fox News

At least four career officials at the State Department and the Central Intelligence Agency have retained lawyers or are in the process of doing so, as they prepare to provide sensitive information about the Benghazi attacks to Congress, Fox News has learned.

- Lord, reveal the truth about the Benghazi attacks. Hold those accountable for the deaths in these attacks. We pray righteousness and truth prevail in the revealing of this sensitive information.

- Justice and judgment are the habitation of Your throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face. (Psalm 89:14)

2. In sea change, Arab League backs land swaps in peace talks - Times of Israel

Arab countries endorsed a Mideast peace plan Monday that would allow for small shifts in Israel's 1967 border, moving them closer to President Barack Obama's two-state vision.

3. Jerusalem unveils mysterious Hebrew stone - AP

An ancient stone with mysterious Hebrew writing and featuring the archangel Gabriel is going on display in Jerusalem as scholars debate the inscription's meaning.

A Special Prayer Request

A Special Prayer Request
from Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Tomorrow, for the National Day of Prayer, several events will take place throughout this city, from morning until evening. Some of these events will be open to the public, and will take place in large, outside gatherings; while others are invitation-only in smaller, private areas.

As a result, hundreds of citizens will be "flooding the city" tomorrow to honor the National Day of Prayer. In order to help each one arrive safely and on time, we are reaching out to all of you who are reading this bulletin across the nation to join us in offering the following prayer:

"Father God, we acknowledge together today that You, and You alone, are the King of all kings and the Lord of all Lords.

We come to you, asking for help in time of need. We ask You, dear Lord, to release your angelic host to protect all means of transportation tomorrow in our nation's capital, Washington, D.C. We thank You that, as we ask, You will answer, and we ask for special protection for the entire D.C. Metro system, the Capital Beltway, and all roads that enable us to move in and out of the city.

Lord God, we thank You that You can and will help our law enforcement officials both here and across the nation to ensure a safe and blessed National Day of Prayer tomorrow.

We ask all this, according to Your will and in Your name, amen."

- "The LORD has established His throne in the heavens,
And His sovereignty rules over all.
Bless the LORD, you His angels,
Mighty in strength, who perform His word,
Obeying the voice of His word!
Bless the LORD, all you His hosts,
You who serve Him, doing His will.
Bless the LORD, all you works of His,
In all places of His dominion;
Bless the LORD, O my soul!"
(Psalm 103:19-22)

Pray for the Harvest!

Pray for the Harvest!

"Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest." (John 4:35)

Every day, in every nation on earth, tens of thousands of men and women are making decisions for Christ. Now, you can monitor this amazing fact online by literally "watching" as these souls are born again into the Kingdom.

Of course, the identities of those who are coming to the Lord are never revealed, but our God knows who they are!

Join us as we monitor these "names" daily, praying over each one to be mentored and to grow in his or her faith . . . even in these perilous times. You may visit either or both of the sites below, to pray for fields that are ripe for harvest.

Take Me To The King

Truth is I'm tired
Options are few
I'm trying to pray
But where are you?
I'm all churched out
Hurt and abused
I can't fake
What's left to do?

About CHPP

ABOUT CAPITOL HILL PRAYER PARTNERS

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven" [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
Friends may participate by receiving our daily prayer alerts. You may contact us at chpp@patriot.net for more information. CHPP is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt ministry. Thank you and God bless you!

"The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit." (Philippians 4:23)

In Closing . . .

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. (I Timothy 2:1-4)
