The Daily Brief

1. Dozens succumb to heat in western US - BBC

Dozens of people across western US states have been treated for exhaustion and dehydration, as the region is continuing to bake in a heat wave. A man in Las Vegas is believed to have died from a heat-related illness. Air-conditioned "cooling centres" have been set up in California, Nevada and Arizona, as officials warn the heat could be life-threatening. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, have mercy on all people affected by this heat wave crisis, but especially on the disabled, needy, sick and elderly. Awaken neighbors, friends and family to check on all those around them. We ask, too, for divine intervention so that the power grids throughout the affected states will not go down, and relief can be provided for all citizens from this life-threatening heat wave. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen and amen.

- "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity." (Proverbs 17:17)

2. EU concern over Der Spiegel claim of US spying- BBC

The head of the European Parliament has demanded "full clarification" from the US over a report that key EU premises in America have been bugged. Martin Schulz said that if this was true, it would have a "severe impact" on ties between the EU and the US. (Read more.)

- Heavenly Father, the illegal aggressive surveillance of other countries and of their personal data is being exposed. Even if they too spy, two wrongs do not make a right. It is opening us as a nation to serious problems due to these hidden actions by our leaders and alienating countries we need as allies. Confront and awaken our leaders, Lord, to the serious consequences of these actions, in Jesus' Name we pray, Amen and Amen.

- "Whoever rewards evil for good, evil will not depart from his house."
(Proverbs 17:3)

3. Perry: 'No Life is Trivial in God's Eyes' - Townhall.com

Speaking at a conference on Thursday, Texas Governor Rick Perry offered some powerful words of wisdom about the moral imperative of protecting innocent human life. As you've probably heard, earlier this week State Senator Wendy Davis (D-TX) garnered national headlines when she staged a ten hour filibuster to raise awareness about "women's health issues" and draw attention to a so-called "anti-choice" bill that would ban abortions in Texas after 20 weeks gestation. Never mind that 62 percent of women in the Lone Star State support such a measure -- or that 68 percent of Americans nationwide oppose second trimester abortions -- Davis became an overnight sensation in Lefty circles and is now even being touted as a possible gubernatorial candidate.

At any rate, Governor Perry decided to take the plunge and weigh in on the controversy-- which, of course, sent liberals reeling: "No life is trivial in God's eyes. The fact is - who are we to say that children born into the worst of circumstances can't live successful lives? (Read more.)

- Heavenly Father, we lift up praise that Governor Perry of Texas has risen up to force a vote against mid-term abortion by calling back the legislature to complete the business it started last week. We ask You to stand by all those legislators who choose to vote for this bill to block mid-term abortion and to suppress any further filibusters or hostile actions done to block this vote. In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen and Amen.

- " The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy." (Psalm 147:11)

4. Obama to GOP: Push through immigration bill by August - Daily Caller

The GOP-led House should pass an immigration bill in the next 34 days, President Back Obama told reporters during a press conference in South Africahttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png."I do urge the Househttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png to try to get this done before the August recess," he said, referring to the Senate bill, which would boost immigration to roughly 46 million people over the next two decades."There's more than enough time," said Obama. (Read more.)

> Note: this Senate - passed bill on immigration is reported to be full of 'pork' amendments. It includes rules and procedures, such as not including border areas of Native American reservations, so that as a nation we end up with not fully secured borders. It is reported to have amnesty rules that appear to be much easier than those requirements that legal immigrants must follow. It is 600 pages long and most congressional members have not had time to review and debate all that it includes. This is a very serious issue with lots of long term repercussions.

- Lord, have mercy and stop this violation of congressional rules of review and debate; strike them down, Father. Cause the mouths of the wicked -- those who have internal agendas and who do not speak for the good of the nation, to be silenced, Abba. And we ask You to cause the mouths of the righteous to be heard. We ask this prayer in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "The godly will see these things and be glad, while the wicked are struck silent." (Psalm 107:42)

5. Obama administration paid contractors millions to snoop through Americans' financial data - Daily Caller

A secretive data collection program run by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau allows private contractors access to millions of Americans' personal financial information, according to a government accountability group. The information may also be shared with other federal agencies. Documents obtained by Washington-based Judicial Watch through the Freedom of Information Act illustrate the cost and scope of the program, which business groups and some Republican lawmakers have assailed as invasive and potentially illegal. (Read more)

- Abba Father, we ask You to be in the midst of this behavior. May this continue to be widely exposed and may the data files already collected become corrupted and unusable, or legally forced to be deleted. May any further data collection be banned without warrants and stated reasons for collection. Have mercy, Lord, in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "But the Lord you God you shall fear, and He will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies." (2 King 17:39)

6. 56% View Feds As Threat to Individual Rights - Rasmussen

The United States was founded on a belief that governments are created to protect certain unalienable rights. Today, however, more voters than ever view the federal government as a threat to those rights. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, it appears never ending how those following the leftist secular agenda keep violating Your teachings and laws. These elected officials were selected to serve the citizens and their rights, yet too often they follow the values and interests they have instead of the values this nation was established to follow, which were based upon Your ways Lord. We take the stake of the Blood-washed Cross of Jesus Christ and drive it through the heart of these actions, saying 'no more', in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul."
(Proverbs 18:7)

7. More Elite Fire Teams On Way to Deadly Ariz. Wildfire - Weather.com

A sudden windstorm turned an Arizona forest fire into an out-of-control inferno that trapped and killed 19 firefighters, nearly all of them members of an elite crew of "hotshots," authorities said Monday. It was the nation's biggest loss of firefighters in a wildfire in 80 years.

- Lord God, we lift up the families of the 19 who gave their lives last night, trying to fight this horrible fire in Arizona. May each family member find comfort from Your hand, and may those who do not know You find You in this time of mourning.

Abba, we ask You to grant Your wisdom and protection to the elite teams now being sent in to get this fire under control and finally extinguished. Please keep all safe from harm until this battle has been won. We ask this prayer in Jesus' Name, amen.

- "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." (Matthew 5:4)

8. Atheists unveil Fla monument near Ten Commandments - AP

STARKE, Fla. (AP) - A group of atheists unveiled a monument to their nonbelief in God on Saturday to sit alongside a granite slab that lists the Ten Commandments in front of the Bradford County courthouse. As a small group of protesters blasted Christian country music and waved "Honk for Jesus" signs, the atheists celebrated what they believe is the first atheist monument allowed on government property in the United States. (Read more)

- We ask our Lord to give us His love for these avowed atheists, for He died at the Cross for them, too. We ask that this abomination stop here and not be duplicated anywhere else in our nation. Have mercy, Lord, upon our country, we ask in Your Name, amen.

- "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34)

9. Court opposes Obama on abortion mandate
- WorldNetDaily

federal appeals court in Denver has ruled against the Obamacare abortion mandate that forces religious business owners to violate their beliefs by paying for abortifacients. The ruling from the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ordered the case returned to the district court level for swift resolution of the request by the owners of Hobby Lobby for an injunction until the dispute fully is resolved. (Read more)
- We rejoice with the owners of Hobby Lobby and ask our Lord to continue to sustain this opinion in any other litigation that may follow. Thank You, Father, for this victory! In Jesus' Name, amen!

- "Rejoice with those who rejoice . . ." (Romans 12:15)

The Persecuted Church

Today's Focus: The Persecuted Church

"Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you." (Deut. 31:6)

1. Syria's Minorities Fear for their Future - Los Angeles Times

This prosperous hillside town north of Damascus appears a universe away from another capital suburb, Sayyida Zainab, a cluttered, frenzied urban patch off the road to the international airport.

Sednaya is a Christian mountain bastion ringed by monasteries; Sayyida Zainab is a lowland Shiite Muslim island in the midst of a largely Sunni Muslim nation.

But, in war-ravaged Syria, the two are in a similar position: Both are renowned shrine towns whose residents say they live under constant threat of attack - even annihilation - by Islamist Sunni rebels active in the outskirts of each locale.

And both are fighting back.

Here in Sednaya, a cadre of Christian militiamen armed with AK-47 rifles and other weapons staff checkpoints and closely scrutinize everyone who comes and goes, day and night, coordinating closely with the Syrian military.

About 12 miles away, on the southeast fringes of the capital, Shiite militiamen, including a contingent of fighters from the Lebanon-based Hezbollah movement, head the defense of the golden-domed shrine said to house the remains of a granddaughter of the prophet Muhammad.

"We will forfeit our blood and lives for Sayyida Zainab," says a brown-uniformed volunteer manning the checkpoint leading to the mausoleum, one of the most revered sites in the Shiite world.

2. Iraq Christians Fear More Violence After Church Attacks, Killings - Worthy News

Minority Christians in Iraq feared more violence Saturday, June 29, after several Assyrian Christian shops and one church were attacked, killing two people and injuring a dozen others, church representatives said.

The attacks began early Tuesday, June 15, when gunmen wounded two guards outside the St. Mary Assyrian Church in east Baghdad, according to local Christians and the Interior Ministry.

Reverend Martin David of the church said the armed men attacked security guards around 2 a.m. local time, injuring 31-year-old Yakoob Zabook "in the stomach" and hitting Raad Mekha, 26, "in the leg".

One guard reportedly remained in hospital but was in stable condition Saturday, June 29.

3. Millions of Egyptians Stage Protests Calling for Departure of Islamist President - ahramonline

Millions of opposition protesters hit the streets across Egypt to call for the ouster of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi on Sunday (which marked the end of his first year in office), with violence in leaving at least seven dead.

Hundreds of thousands of anti-Morsi protesters gathered outside the presidential palace in Cairo's Heliopolis district and in Tahrir Square, the epicentre of the 2011 revolution and the prime venue of many opposition demonstrations.

There were jubilant but defiant scenes at both protests, with huge crowds of protesters chanting that the beleaguered president "must go" and stressing that they "will not leave" until their demands are fulfilled.

White House used "secret" court to authorize spying on you

The extent that the US government has held you, the citizen, in contempt by assuming that you are worthy of being spied upon is being exposed by the UK Guardian's investigative hounds. Notwithstanding the irony in having a British newspaper exposing the depths of the US government violating the rights of its citizens, one must suspend his disbelief to begin understanding the extent to which the White House has gone to spy on you and me. According to the Guardian, the occupant of the Oval Office's minions in the NSA went to a secret court for permission to spy on American citizens. This alarming action may go unnoticed by most media because of its complexity. But you should know the truth.

Here is how it worked according to the Guardian: The Guardian is publishing in full two documents submitted to the secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (known as the Fisa court), signed by Attorney General Eric Holder and stamped 29 July 2009. They detail the procedures the NSA is required to follow to target "non-US persons" under its foreign intelligence powers and what the agency does to minimize data collected on US citizens and residents in the course of that surveillance. The documents show that even under authorities governing the collection of foreign intelligence from foreign targets, US communications can still be collected, retained and used.

According to the Guardian, the occupant of the Oval Office and his senior intelligence officials have referred to the Fisa court's oversight "many times" to essentially tell the public that their rights are protected. But the truth is just the opposite. The White House has used this court to back door "authority" to collect information on American citizens. This information on you can be retained for five years. The Guardian says that the broad scope of the court orders and nature of the procedures established in the documents it has obtained appear "to clash" with assurances from the occupant and senior intelligence officials that the NSA could not access your telephone and email information without warrants.

In essence, what the Patriot Act did not allow, this "president" obtained permission from the secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. This government appears to be obsessed with spying on you--YOU--as evidenced by Attorney General Eric Holder's signature on the documents. What to do? Jesus said in Matthew 10:26, "Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known." First, it must be exposed and understood by the people. In John 3:20, Jesus said, "For everyone that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed." Then we need to remove these scoundrels from office. Because WE are the People and government is to serve US, not the other way around.

Have A Blessed And Powerful Day,

Israel on Alert

Yaalon: Combat Units 'Likely to Be Called Up Soon'

Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon hinted Wednesday that Israel may call up its combat soldiers for a major operation in the near future. Yaalon spoke as he and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu observed a Golani Brigade drill in the Golan.

"I was impressed by the Golani Brigade's capability, preparedness and skill," he said.

"Golani, like many other IDF combat units, is likely to be called to operational service on short notice," he added. "That's why this exercise, like other drills in recent days, has special meaning at this time and in this place."

He made his warning more explicit, saying, "We will not tolerate violations of our sovereignty or harm done to our soldiers and civilians, whether here, in Gaza or elsewhere." (Arutz Shiva) Read more.

The Good News Corner:

Hawaii Christian Coalition: Fight Same-Sex Marriage

The Supreme Court has not said they would allow same sex marriage unconditionally, rather leave the decisions to the States to decide. Without going into full details, just a small portion of DOMA was ruled on and proposition 8 was basically a punt back to the California Courts, which Justice Scalia called a mockery of the courts overstepping their boundaries, especially against the will of the people.

What can be done to deny same-sex marriages in Hawaii? Let every citizen, their family and friends call their respective State Senators and Representatives that you do not want same-sex marriage here in Hawaii. The consensus clearly shows that the nation disagreed with the court's decision against prop 8 and against same-sex marriage. There are 36 States which do not allow same-sex marriages with 12 States allowing.

Let us here in Hawaii use the POWER afforded to the people to deny same-sex marriages in Hawaii. PLEASE call your legislators NOW!!!

Signed: Garret Hashimoto, president of the Hawaii Christian Coalition
> > > We stand with you, Hawaii, to see that same-sex marriage is not made legal in your state.
We recognize, too, that the saints in California are still engaged in the battle over Prop 8 in their courts. We stand with California, too. Amen!
- "In that day the Lord of hosts will become a beautiful crown
And a glorious diadem to the remnant of His people;
A spirit of justice for him who sits in judgment,
A strength to those who repel the onslaught at the gate."

Hillsong - Oceans Will Part

(Remembering the Red Sea . . .)

If my heart has grown cold
There Your love will unfold
As You open my eyes to the work of Your hand
When I'm blind to my way
There Your Spirit will pray
As You open my eyes to the work of Your hand
As You open my eyes to the work of Your hand

Oceans will part nations come
At the whisper of Your call
Hope will rise glory shown
In my life Your will be done

Present suffering may pass
Lord Your mercy will last
As You open my eyes to the work of Your hand
And my heart will find praise
I'll delight in Your way
As You open my eyes to the work of Your hand
As You open my eyes to the work of Your hand

[Praise Him by going here . . .]
