The Daily Brief

1. Widespread Severe Weather Threatens 60 Million Thursday, Friday - AccuWeather

More than 35 million people in the Central states and 25 million along the Atlantic coast will be at risk for severe weather later this week.

~Abba, we come to You, asking for Your mercy to be extended to those in the paths of these storms. We speak peace to the storms, and protection over Your people! We thank You that You are a compassionate God, and, in Your judgment, You do remember mercy. In Your Name we pray, Amen.

~"Because he loves Me, I will rescue him; because he knows My name, I will protect him. He will call on Me, and I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble. I will extricate him and bring him honor. I will satisfy him with long life and show him My salvation." (Psalm 91:14-16)

2. "Star Wars" on the seas: U.S. Navy to deploy laser for 1st time - CBS News

Some of the Navy's futuristic weapons sound like something out of "Star Wars," with lasers designed to shoot down aerial drones and electric guns that fire projectiles at hypersonic speeds. That future is now.

~Lord, things seem to be moving at such a fast pace in these "end of days" scenarios. Both offences and defenses militarily are escalating in technology beyond what we could have imagined a few years ago. We pray wisdom for our Navy, and all branches of our military, to develop weapons that will be used only on the enemy, and will be effective in protecting us. We thank You for these new "witty inventions". Amen.

~"But I was like a tame lamb that is brought to the slaughter; I did not know that they had devised inventions and schemes against me, say, 'Let us destroy the tree with its fruit; let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered'. But, O Lord of hosts, Who judges rightly and justly, Who tests the heart and the mind, let me see Your vengeance on them, for to You I have revealed and committed my cause [rolling it upon You]." (Jeremiah 11:19,20)

3. Feeling pressure from the left, Obama backs off of Social Security cuts in budget - Washington Times

Bowing to pressure from its left flank, the White House revealed Thursday that it won't again propose Social Security cuts when President Obama releases his budget early next month, saying Republicans squandered chances for a deal last year.

~Father, we thank You for Your protection of Social Security for those who are unable to take care of themselves without it. We ask that the "name calling" and partisan politics would be silenced, and that our Congress will do what they need to do to balance the budget without bankrupting our Country. We again ask Your wisdom to be imparted to those who are struggling with this budget. We ask that You would bring humility to the proud, and an awareness of their need of You, we pray.

~"First comes pride, then disgrace; but with the humble is wisdom. The integrity of the upright guides them, but the duplicity of the treacherous destroys them." (Proverbs 11:2,3)

4. Gov't Report: Food Stamps Participation at Historic High, Even as Unemployment Rate Falls - The Weekly Standard

A recently released Department of Agriculture (USDA) report on the "Food Assistance Landscape" for the fiscal year 2013 shows that for the second year in a row, participation in the federal government's SNAP (food stamps) program has increased despite a corresponding drop in the unemployment rate, bucking the historical trend.

~Abba, You have promised to provide for those who put their trust in You. We are concerned that the number of households dependent on food stamps is continuing to increase, even while there seems to be more folks becoming employed. We ask that those who, through no fault of their own, really need food stamps to survive, will continue to receive them. However, we do ask You to reveal any deception taking place to continue on this program, when their income is sufficient to pay for groceries without them. We bind up deception and trickery and pray for those who are continuing to struggle, that they would find employment, and/or provision for their needs to be met. In Your Name we pray, Amen.

~"Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done." (Proverbs 19:17)

5. 'Gay'-marriage lawsuits exploding in U.S. courts - World Net Daily

Same-sex marriage proponents are gathering steam. Recent high profile rulings on gay marriage tell only part of the story about the avalanche of lawsuits working their way through state and federal courts, challenging laws that ban or restrict same-sex marriages.

~Father, You know that initially this country was founded on Godly principles, and "states rights" were very important. Indeed, we are named the "United STATES of America". We find it frustrating that the will of the people in these states are being denied their right to vote for their beliefs, and maintain those laws, when the federal government keeps nullifying their votes and laws. We ask for wisdom for our lawmakers, both within the states, and also nationally. Give us wisdom, we pray, Amen.

~"The people of the earth have ruined it, because they do not follow God's teachings or obey God's laws, or keep their agreement with God that was to last forever." (Isaiah 24:5)

The Middle East in Focus

The Middle East in Focus

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

"There are many purposes in a man's heart, but the counsel of Jehovah shall stand. " (Proverbs 19:21)

1. Presbyterian Org Says Agenda of Group Within Church is 'End of the Jewish State of Israel' - Algemeiner

The battle over Israel within the Presbyterian church turned a corner on Thursday, when a pro-Israel faction, called Presbyterians for Middle East Peace, said it would fight the church agenda, as described in its 'Zionism Unsettled' monograph. The document on Zionism, praised this week by former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke and Iranian media, was described by PFMEP as seeking the "end of the Jewish State of Israel."

2. Settlement freeze 'unacceptable,' right-wing MKs warn PM - Times of Israel

The specter of a West Bank settlement freeze is raising serious concerns among prominent Knesset members on the right, several of whom warned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday that halting construction in any Jewish town or city beyond the Green Line would be "totally and utterly unacceptable."

3. Abbas aide: No deal that doesn't represent Palestinian positions - Ynet News

Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesperson for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, said that "the Palestinians will not sign a framework agreement or a final agreement that do not represent the Palestinian positions." The core principles that Abbas deems non-negotiable are: East Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state, a state established on the 1967 borders, and that Israel will not be recognized as a Jewish State.

4. Hamas Tests Missiles Against Israel - Washington Free Beacon

Hamas has tested anti-aircraft missiles against Israel, Al-Monitor reports. Israel said in 2012 that 10 shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles had targeted its warplanes, marking an enhancement of Hamas' military capabilities.

White House to ban freedom of the press

Communists and Fascists the world over are likely applauding the White House push of soft tyranny in newsrooms across America. In brilliant despot cunning, the Federal Communications Commission has initiated a "study" called "Multi-Market Study of Critical Information Needs (CIN)." Herein FCC jack boots will sit in newsrooms and ask reporters questions about how they choose what is news, or, more importantly, what political factors inform a decision to cover a story, or not. This is all voluntary--but everyone in the broadcast news business knows that licenses to broadcast are issued by the FCC, hence soft tyranny and a victory for the police state and those in the White House who want a certain news "flavor."

Ajit Pai, a commissioner of the FCC, says he disagrees with this policy. In a Wall Street Journal OpEd piece, he writes: "News organizations often disagree about what Americans need to know. MSNBC, for example, apparently believes that traffic in Fort Lee, N.J., is the crisis of our time. Fox News, on the other hand, chooses to cover the September 2012 attacks on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi more heavily than other networks. The American people, for their part, disagree about what they want to watch. But everyone should agree on this: The government has no place pressuring media organizations into covering certain stories."
His opinion doesn't really matter. The US Constitution's First Amendment reads: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." If Congress can't do it, neither can any of the branches of the government--this would include unconstitutional and overreaching federal gestapo agencies such as the IRS, DHS, NSA, FBI, CIA, DEA, HHS, and most assuredly the FCC. But as you can see, the inmates are running the asylum. Despots are reaching critical mass in our government and we need to put our foot down.

Whether you are at an airport or a news reporter or a talk show host or a preacher or a fan in line to attend a sporting event, you think twice about saying what's on your mind about the government, a hostile religion, or even illegal aliens. Anything involving the government or police, you better keep your mouth shut or there is a high chance your life will become miserable. Soft tyranny. It is right in front of us. We feel it with our practice of Christianity. We feel it in our homes, on the phone, at the intersection. People, we were blessed by God with a free nation, free to spread the gospel and to speak righteousness. Galatians 5:1, "Stand fast therefore in the LIBERTY wherewith Christ has made us free and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Jordanian Sheikh: "Israel Belongs to the Jews"

Jordanian Sheikh: "Israel Belongs to the Jews"

Sheikh Ahmed Aladoan of Amman has caused a "storm in the Arab media" after slamming the use of the name "Palestine" and Palestinian anti-Israel propaganda.

Jordan)-Sheikh Ahmed Aladoan of Amman, a member of Jordan's well-known Adwan tribe, posted to Facebook this week that there is no such place as "Palestine," and provided references from the Koran to back up his assertion.

One of the Koranic verses provided states that Allah gave the Holy Land to the sons of Israel until the Day of Judgment (Surah Al-Ma'ida, verse 21), and the other (Surah Al-Shara'a, verse 59) says that the land was bequeathed to the Jews.

The sheikh turned to those who "distort the words of the Koran," whom he labeled as liars, and questioned where they had even come up with the name "Palestine." He insisted their claims to the Land of Israel were forfeit because "Allah is the protector of the Children of Israel."

And if that wasn't enough, the sheikh went on to turn the tables on the anti-Israel propaganda machine by accusing the Palestinians of killing children, the elderly and women, of using human shields, and of having not an ounce of mercy for even their own children.

The sheikh's words caused a storm in the Arab media, and were picked up by the Israeli Embassy in Amman.

The Arabic daily Al-Quds Al-Arabi further explained the sheikh's position, noting that he supports the notion that Jordan is Palestine, and insists that Arabs living both in Jordan and the Palestinian Authority-controlled territories would almost all love to be Israeli citizens.

The Adwan tribe issued a statement distancing itself from Sheikh Aladoan's remarks. But the sheikh was not intimidated, and insisted he would continue to make his voice heard on these matters.

Last year, Sheikh Aladoan visited Israel and spent time with the chief rabbi of Tsfat (Safed), Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu. The sheikh informed Rabbi Eliyahu and his students that in the Koran, "there is no name 'Palestine' for this land, and therefore, the Arabs should not be fighting the Jews over control of this land."

Click Here and scroll down to watch a video of their encounter. Most of the video is in Hebrew, but around the 2:00 mark, Sheikh Aladoan's assistant translates his words in English.

Dead for 45 Minutes, Resurrected Man Tells Fox's Megyn Kelly About Experience in Heaven

"He had no heart rate. He had no blood pressure. He had no pulse, his brain had no oxygen for 45 minutes. So, the fact that he is up walking, talking, laughing and everything-I mean, that's amazing." -ICU Nurse, Emily Bishop

(Beachwood, OH)-For 45 minutes, doctors and nurses were unable to revive Brian Miller after the 41-year-old truck driver suffered a heart attack. But Miller, who says he was in Heaven during that time, claims he's alive today because God sent him back. . .

More specifically, according to a Fox News interview, God sent Miller's deceased father-in-law and mother-in-law to deliver a message to him that it wasn't his time and ushered him back into life.

As Miller suffered the initial heart attack, his ICU nurse, Emily Bishop, said, "His heart is just quivering in there. It's not able to pump. It's not doing anything."

Speaking later of his miraculous revival, Bishop added, "He had no heart rate. He had no blood pressure. He had no pulse, his brain had no oxygen for 45 minutes. So, the fact that he is up walking, talking, laughing and everything-I mean, that's amazing."

According to Fox WJW Channel 8 News, not only did Miller's heart inexplicably just start beating on it's own again, but he "miraculously" suffered no brain damage or loss of any bodily functions.
When interviewer Megyn Kelly asked Miller to describe his experience, he said, "I [saw] the light and just kept walking toward it. And then, all of a sudden, it opened into a most beautiful path with flowers." It was as he was walking along this path that he was met by his in-laws.

When asked about his religious background, Miller explained that he's "always believed in the Lord" and that as a child he went to church a lot but that now, since getting married and driving a truck so often, he hardly goes anymore.

Miller admits that the experience has changed his perspective on life in multiple ways and that people need to know heaven is real.

San Miguel (Chaparrastique) volcano (El Salvador): increasing volcanic unrest

Warning signs of a possible new eruption of the volcano in the near future are becoming increasingly alarming. Accompanied by an ongoing earthquake swarm, tremor (as an indicator of internal pressure) continues to climb. Pulsating gas emissions reaching 50-400 m height above the crater have been seen recently.

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."
