The Daily Brief

1. North, South Korea trade live fire over sea border - AFP

The two Koreas traded hundreds of rounds of live artillery fire across their disputed maritime border Monday, forcing South Korean islanders to take shelter a day after the North drove up tensions by threatening a new nuclear test.

- Dear Lord, in the name of Jesus we bind up the ulterior motives of those who would sow fear in the Korean peninsula and ask that even as this aggression has been met with force, that the two countries would be reunited under a fair and lawful government. Please protect the innocent in these areas and give wisdom to those who desire peace.

- "For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood." (Proverbs 1:16)

2. Egypt to hold May 26-27 presidential election - Jerusalem Post

Egyptians will vote on May 26-27 in a presidential election that Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is expected to win easily, meaning the former army chief who deposed Islamist President Mohamed Morsi could be sworn in as head of state by early June.

- Our Dear Lord, we ask that the Egyptian elections will be free of violence and corruption; and that, above all, Your choice for Egypt would win the election. We pray for the people to use wisdom in their voting and keep in mind how important freedom is. We pray for an atmosphere to prevail in Egypt where the Body of Christ may grow strong.

- "For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding." (Proverbs 2:6)

3. Iran Names 1979 U.S. Embassy Hostage-Taker Its UN Envoy - Bloomberg

Iran has named a member of the militant group that held 52 Americans hostage in Tehran for 444 days to be its next ambassador to the United Nations. (Read more)

- Father God, we humble ourselves before You as we see yet another country dishonoring us by this appointment. We pray that the people of our country will turn to You, confess our sins both personal and national, and lift up Your name high above all others. Forgive us, we pray, for moving far from You and trusting in our own strength. As we repent, Abba, we ask, Lord, for a reversal of this decision by Iran, for this action is, indeed, a slap in the face of our people. Thank You, Lord, amen and amen.

- "And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes: and I prayed unto the Lord my God, and made my confession." (Daniel 9:3-4a)

4. Report: Obama administration released 68,000 convicted criminal aliens last year - Daily Caller

The Obama administration is threatening public safety by deliberately hampering immigration law and releasing aliens with criminal records, according to a new review of internal Immigration and Customs Enforcement data.

- Father, we pray protection over our borders. We pray for men and women in our government who will uphold the law at all cost for the protection of American citizens.

- He maketh peace in thy borders; He filleth thee with the finest of the wheat.
(Psalm 147:14)

5. Arizona Restriction on Non-Surgical Abortion Can Take Effect - Bloomberg

An Arizona law limiting women's access to drug-induced abortions was allowed by a federal judge to take effect in a defeat to reproductive rights activists fighting parts of a 2012 state overhaul of abortion regulations they have called the most extreme in the nation.

- Father, we pray that all states will continue to win the fight over abortion. Give us strategies that will stop the opposition from achieving success. In Jesus Name.

- He thwarts the plans of the crafty, so that their hands achieve no success.
(Job 5:12)

Noah and other movies

There are a lot of so-called "Biblical" movies coming out. Beware. They are likely attempts to rewrite the Bible or to deceive you for the sake of entertainment or some other diabolical and devious intent. Ken Ham, a leading creationist, says that the box office blockbuster "Noah" starring Russell Crowe is an insult to Christians. He said that he agrees with atheist Darren Aronofsky's statement about the film he produced: It is the least biblical of Bible-themed films. Ham then states: "Any other agreement I have with the filmmaker's take on the book of Genesis and its account of Noah ends right there." There are other films less insulting to Christians that contain some amount of truth that are just as dangerous.

Ham writes in Time, "Except for some of the names in the movie, like Noah, his sons' names, and Methuselah, hardly any remnant of the Bible's account of the Flood in Genesis 6-9 is recognizable. Yes, there is an Ark in the film that is true to the massive biblical proportions, but it did not look like a seaworthy vessel. There were many animals that came to Noah and went on board the Ark, but there were far too many creatures crammed inside and certainly many more than were needed. Also, while the extreme wickedness of man was depicted, the real sin displayed in the film was the people's destruction of the earth. Lost within the film's extreme environmentalist message is that the actual sins of the pre-Flood people were a rebellion against God and also man's inhumanity to man."
The Bible Miniseries is another disturbing take. With all the hype of The Bible miniseries on the History Channel, many Christians had hope that there would finally be a film about the Bible worthy of the ages. Produced by the husband and wife team of Survivor's Mark Burnett and former star of the new-agey Touched by an Angel's Roma Downey, endorsed by Rick Warren, Joel Osteen and Cardinal Donald Wuerl, The Bible's 2013 debut was a reflection of seeker sensitive, watered down condition of much of the church. The Bible was high on adventure, drama, fairly graphic violence, but low on truth and accuracy. It is a shame that this miniseries will be reproduced and distributed as educational curriculum for churches.

I have heard from those who believe that any depiction of the Bible by the film industry is good because it brings attention to God, and that everyone knows that Hollywood takes license with facts to weave a more entertaining story. If there is one thing where the facts should never be modified, it is the Bible. These filmmakers, whether it is a film designed to insult Christians or one designed to teach them, are out to write their own versions of the Bible--their own interpretation. Revelation 22:18-19 gives this warning: , "If any shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."

While the Supreme Court considers Tuesday's arguments for religious liberty, you can deliver your own verdict by using social media to promote the family businesses like Hobby Lobby who are under attack with the HHS mandate. If the justices don't intervene, companies like Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Wood will be forced to provide pills and procedures they morally oppose -- or pay fines, which, for Hobby Lobby, would be as much as $1.3 million each day.

What can you do? It's simple. If you have a Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter account, change your profile picture by clicking here. Shop at your local Hobby Lobby or online at HobbyLobby.com and say "thank you" with a card from your family -- then share those photos with the hashtag #HobbyLobbyDay at social media. Dept. Of Homeland Insecurity

Obama's Department Of Homeland Insecurity

The Department of Homeland Security is tasked -- as the name implies -- with keeping Americans safe. For several years now, the Obama Administration has ordered DHS to take a lax approach to enforcing our immigration laws. The administration claimed it needed extra flexibility in order to focus on deporting those with criminal backgrounds.

But a shocking new report finds that DHS has actually released nearly 70,000 illegal immigrants who have criminal convictions.

Responding to this report, Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) blasted the Department of Homeland Security, saying, "The preponderance of the evidence demonstrates that immigration enforcement in America has collapsed. Even those with criminal convictions are being released. DHS is a department in crisis." (Gary Bauer)

A Letter from World Vision

A Letter from World Vision

President Richard Stearns Asks Forgiveness for their Mistake
Last week, World Vision issued a press release, stating that they would now allow their employees to have same-sex privileges. The outcry against this was immediate from across the nation, and thousands of World Visions' supporters began to pull out.

On Thursday (March 27), World Vision reversed its course and issued the statement, below:

Today, the World Vision U.S. board publicly reversed its recent decision to change our employment conduct policy. The board acknowledged they made a mistake and chose to revert to our longstanding conduct policy requiring sexual abstinence for all single employees and faithfulness within the Biblical covenant of marriage between a man and a woman.
We are writing to you our trusted partners and Christian leaders who have come to us in the spirit of Matthew 18 to express your concern in love and conviction. You share our desire to come together in the Body of Christ around our mission to serve the poorest of the poor. We have listened to you and want to say thank you and to humbly ask for your forgiveness . . .

A prayer from the Family Research Council:

May God grant World Vision and its leaders thorough repentance! May He use this leadership failure as a teaching moment to all Christian leaders who face pressure from within and without to compromise God's Word. May God's people receive greater discernment, strength, reverence for and obedience to His Eternal Word!
"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness . . ." (2 Tim. 3:16)

The Palestinian Country of Lies

Guest Column: The Palestinian Country of Lies

by Reuven Berko
Special to IPT News
March 27, 2014

It is news to no one that throughout the negotiations with Israel, despite Islam's ban on lying, the Palestinians have consistently lied. Surah Al-Haj (Surah 22, verse 30) and Surah Al-Ghafir (Surah 40, verse 28) of the Qur'an, as well as many hadiths (the oral tradition attributed to Muhammad), strongly condemn lying for any reason. It is specifically considered an affront to Allah and Muhammad, and the liar will burn in hell. However, for Islamists, their beliefs provide a number of loopholes. For example, for an Islamist, one can lie to effect a compromise between disputing parties, to deceive an enemy, to make one's wife happy.
Thus, it is permissible to lie to the Jewish (and American) enemy, which is what the Palestinians negotiators have done time after time in the negotiations with Israel. These negotiators, even those conveniently hiding under the mantle of "secular," employ the fundamentalist moral code that dictates their actions. They have manipulated, avoided, evaded, denied, wiggled around facts and told outright lies regarding agreements already reached and their goals for future coexistence. For these believers in moral religious pragmatism, permission to lie in the negotiations is based on designating the Jew as the enemy of Allah and Islam, worthy only of death. For the Palestinian leadership, abetted by the Palestinian Authority's educational and religious systems, the Jew is religiously labeled not only the enemy because of the so-called "occupation of Palestine," but because of the ancient Hadith that they invoke that states that Muslims will not be redeemed on Judgment Day unless the Jews on earth are killed. Therefore, for these radical believers, lying to the Jews if it leads to their final destruction is virtually a religious fiat.
Before he met with the American president last week, Mahmoud Abbas told Fatah's Revolutionary Council in Ramallah that he would not recognize Israel as the homeland of the Jewish people, would not waive the so-called "right of return" of the Palestinian refugees, and would not abandon the idea of Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine." An Abbas confidante and member of Fatah's Central Committee, appearing on official Palestinian Authority television, revealed the true Palestinian intentions for the Jews during that conference. Abbas Zaki promised that "Allah will gather all the Jews together so that the Palestinians can destroy them."
All the Palestinians' fabricated religious, moral and historical demands on the land of Israel and Jerusalem are based on Islam's permission to lie to the enemy, considered "legitimate" because their ultimate objective is to destroy Israel and establish "Palestine" on its ruins. No matter the current historical revisionism, honest Palestinian scholars know that there was never a Palestinian state in the land of Israel (or anywhere else); there was never a Palestinian people until Jews started populating the land; and nothing was ever promised to them in the Qur'an. When the United Nations called for a Jewish state and an adjacent Arab state in 1947, the Arabs rejected it. (Investigative Project on Terrorism) Read the full article here.

Incredible Sight as a Quarter MILLION turn out in Peru March for Life

Highlighting Peru's officially recognized Day of the Unborn Child, artists sportsmen, TV personalities, politicians, clergymen and musicians posed for photos endorsing the country's March for Life.

(Lima, Peru)-"We all have a child within us," was the slogan for this year's March for Life in Peru on March 22, which summoned 250,000 people in Lima alone, according to organizers. The turnout more than doubled that from last year and broke the record in Latin-American as the biggest pro-life demonstration ever.
With thousands more participating in five cities, including 50,000 in Piura, Peruvians from all over the country got out to the streets to demonstrate their support for the pro-life cause.

The mainstream media barely covered the event, however, and some outlets even stated that "hundreds" of people showed up, showing pictures of small groups of people or even pictures from last year's march.

With 2,500 young volunteers helping with the organization, the march was a peaceful "party" to call everyone to defend life from conception until natural death. (LifeSiteNews) Read more here.

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."

Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side.
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain.
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In every change, He faithful will remain.
