The Daily Brief:

"Praying for All in Authority"

Monday, August 4, 2014

"You will not be afraid of the terror by night,
Or of the arrow that flies by day;
Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon."

(Psalm 91:5,6)

"I will uphold you with my righteous right hand" (Isa. 41:10)

The Daily Brief

1. Court Releases "Fast and Furious" Information Withheld by Obama - WND

President's executive privilege claim led to Holder contempt finding. Judicial Watch sued because the government didn't respond to its Freedom of Information Act requests in June and September of 2012.

The ruling by Judge John D. Bates of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia forces the Obama DOJ, for the first time, to provide a Vaughn Index, a detailed listing of all documents that it has withheld from Congress about the scandal along with justification for each withholding.

"Once again, Judicial Watch has beat Congress to the punch in getting key information about another Obama scandal - this time, the Fast and Furious outrage," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. Fitton said the information could, for the first time, provide specific details about "who in the administration is responsible for Fast and Furious lies to Congress and the American people." (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we lift up praise that this judge is demanding that a detailed list of all withheld documents plus the justification for withholding them be turned over to Judicial Watch, using the power under the Freedom of Information act. We ask Father that all be revealed as requested and that an investigation can be completed to expose what needs to be known about this case. We ask in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "The heart of the righteous studies how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours forth evil." (Proverbs 15:28 NKJV)

2. GOP rep reignites impeachment debate - Fox News

Iowa GOP Rep. Steve King suggests the Republican-led house could reconsider impeachment proceedings for President Obama if he again uses his executive powers to delay or defer deportation for illegal immigrants beyond those brought illegally to the United States in past years by their parents. (Read more)

- Father God, we cry out to You for justice regarding the continuing overreach of Barack Hussein Obama, the occupant of the Oval Office. We ask that he be found accountable for his lawless actions, with the full extent of the law.

Lord God, we recognize that today is also Mr. Obama's birthday. Please give him the best birthday gift ever -- the knowledge of Your love for him, a conviction of repentance, and salvation through the Blood of the Lamb. We ask this in Jesus' Name, amen.

- But Isaiah is very bold and says:
"I was found by those who did not seek Me;
I was made manifest to those who did not ask for Me."
(Romans 10:20)

3. Why ISIS Blew Up Jonah's Tomb, And Why It Might Backfire - Rapture Ready

Last week, members of the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), the ruthless militant group currently marauding through Iraq, reportedly blew up the tomb of the Prophet Yunus. The burial site of Yunus, commonly known to many Christians as the biblical figure Jonah, was located in the modern-day city of Mosul (once the biblical city of Nineveh), and was seen by many archeologists and religious scholars as an ancient - and precious - religious artifact. Now, reports indicate, it is little more than rubble. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, what is being reported is the destruction of the tomb of Jonah the prophet, that was a site meaningful to not just Jews and Christians, but as stated, to many in Islam as well. Father, we ask that You confront the leaders of ISIS with the fear of You so that further historic sites may be protected and preserved, praying in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city." (Proverbs 16:32 NKJV)

4. Ukraine crisis: Rebel adviser 'admits executions' - BBC

A senior adviser to rebels in eastern Ukraine has confirmed that extrajudicial killings have been carried out "to prevent chaos". Igor Druz told the BBC such "executions" sent an important signal to the rest of the rebel forces. He also said Ukraine's government was a "terrorist" organisation, committing war crimes against civilians. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we come before You with all the reports of all these 'extrajudical killings' that are happening in the Ukraine. As reported, both the rebels and the Ukrainian government are guilty of acting too harshly and illegally. Father, direct the response to these reports, confronting the appropriate people to act and stop all that should not be occurring. We pray in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "It is not good to show partiality to the wicked, or to overthrow the righteous in judgment." (Proverbs 18:5 NKJV)

5. Second American with Ebola due to leave Liberia Tuesday - Fox News

A second American missionary stricken with Ebola is expected to be flown Tuesday to the U.S. for treatment, following a colleague who was admitted over the weekend to Emory University Hospital's infectious disease unit. A Liberian official confirmed to the Associated Press plans for Nancy Writebol to depart with a medical evacuation team. . .

Writebol's son, Jeremy Writebol of Wichita, Kansas, said his mother "is still struggling" but that "there seems to be improvement" and that the family is optimistic she will recover amid a spreading Ebola outbreak that has killed at least 729 people in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.

The Writebols' mission team partner, Dr. Kent Brantly, also was improving Sunday after he was admitted to Emory's quarantine unit a day earlier, according to a statement from his wife. "Our family is rejoicing over Kent's safe arrival, and we are confident that he is receiving the very best care," Amber Brantly said, adding that she was able to see her husband Sunday. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we come before You about this decision to bring these two Americans back to the US and place them in a hospital in Atlanta. Father, we know You know what is happening here and how dangerous this Ebola virus is. We are asking You to have mercy on us and be in the midst of all that is being done here, both for the patients but also for the caretakers and the US public as well. We ask this in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; may the name of the God of Jacob defend you; May He send you help from the sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Zion." (Psalm 20:1-2 NKJV)

6. US airports on high alert for travellers with signs of Ebola - New York Post

AMID fears of a global Ebola epidemic, the feds are keeping a close eye on passengers arriving at JFK and other international airports in the United States to quarantine anyone showing signs of the deadly virus. And the city's Health Department alerted doctors and other health providers to immediately report anyone they suspect might have the disease, reports The New York Post. (Read more)

- Father God, we ask You to stay the hand of the angel of death that is causing the demise of so many people from this disease. We ask, too, for unusual vigilance for all airport employees, that they may spot and secure any passenger who is exhibiting possible symptoms of this virus. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

- "So the Lord sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning until the appointed time, and seventy thousand men of the people from Dan to Beersheba died. When the angel stretched out his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it, the Lord relented from the calamity and said to the angel who destroyed the people, "It is enough! Now relax your hand!" (2 Sam. 24:15,16)

- Heavenly Father, we bring this announced vaccine testing for the Ebola virus issue before You and ask that this vaccine they are rushing into human testing be done in a manner that is safe for all involved. Father, we ask You to strike down anything in this vaccine that would actually endanger human lives. In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen and Amen.

- "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain." (Psalm 127:1 NKJV)

8. Ebola crisis: Virus spreading too fast, says WHO - BBC News

The Ebola outbreak in West Africa is spreading faster than efforts to control it, World Health Organization (WHO) head Margaret Chan has said. She told a summit of regional leaders that failure to contain Ebola could be "catastrophic" in terms of lives lost. But she said the virus, which has claimed 728 lives in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone since February, could be stopped if well managed. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, based on this report from WHO regarding the Ebola virus outbreak, it appears that a number of steps need to be taken by nations and health organizations to get this outbreak under control. Father, we ask that You rise up and be in the midst of all planning and handling of this rapidly spreading outbreak. We pray in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge." (Proverbs 18:15 NKJV)

9. Thousands in Washington protest against war in Gaza and US support for Israel - Jerusalem Post

Thousands of people attended a demonstration outside the White House in Washington DC on Saturday to protest against US support for Israel and call for an end to military action in the Gaza strip. Demonstrators, who carried Palestinian flags and chanted "Free, free Palestine" while holding up signs "Stop Genocide" and "Free Gaza", called on President Barack Obama to end military aid for Israel. (Read more)

- Lord God Jehovah, we ask for mercy for our nation, when so many citizens and/or residents are taking such a strong stand against Your people. By harming Israel, they will only harm themselves. We decree the Blood of the Lamb over these curses, canceling each one. Most important, we cry out for their souls, for You, Abba, died to set them free, too. Mercy, Lord, mercy, amen.

- " . . . the one who curses you I will curse. . ." (Gen. 12:3)

- Lord God, we ask for mercy for the people of China. We ask healing for all who are injured, recovery of those yet to be found, and comfort for all who grieve. May this great shaking cause those who do not know You to stop and consider eternity, and we ask that a believer will be sent to each one, leading them to salvation. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

- "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows." (Matthew 24:7,8)

OPERATION PROTECTIVE EDGE

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

"In that day I will make the clans of Judah like a firepot among pieces of wood and a flaming torch among sheaves, so they will consume on the right hand and on the left all the surrounding peoples, while the inhabitants of Jerusalem again dwell on their own sites in Jerusalem." (Zech. 12:6)

1. Blue State Blues: Investigate the UN for War Crimes - Breitbart

The United Nations, predictably, has condemned Israel for defending itself, suggesting that Israel may have committed war crimes in fighting to protect its citizens from rockets and terror tunnels as Hamas hides and fights among Palestinian civilians. In fact it is the UN itself that is likely to have committed war crimes in this conflict, and it should be subject to criminal inquiry. Specifically, the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) should be investigated for the crime of hiding weapons in its Gaza schools-offensive weapons, at that, which have no purpose other than killing Israel civilians. Three schools have "discovered" rockets so far, and though UNRWA denies it, Israel suspects UNRWA has given the rockets back to Hamas-the "local authorities." (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, may the truth of the UN's complicity about the storage of weapons within or next to the UN schools in Gaza be exposed for all the world's news media to see and understand. Father, may Your truth arise and be heard, so that false accusations do not continuously arise, in Jesus' Name we pray, Amen and Amen.

- "He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, both of them alike are an abomination to the Lord." (Proverbs 17:15 NKJV)

2. U.N. Condemns Israel, U.S. for Not Sharing Iron Dome with Hamas - Fox News

The United Nations slammed Israel for possibly committing war crimes in its fight against Hamas - and then backed that accusation by suggesting the Jewish nation ought to be sharing its Iron Dome defensive technology with the very terror group it's fighting. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, this charge is so ridiculous. Why would a nation share with the enemy the technology that they have developed to protect their citizens from the ongoing rocket and missile onslaught from that enemy? We ask that this charge be shattered and left to no effect, in Jesus' Name we pray, Amen and Amen.

- "A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul." (Proverbs 18:7 NKJV)

3. Netanyahu to U.S.: "Don't Second Guess Me on Hamas" - AP

Following the quick collapse of the cease-fire in Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the White House not to force a truce with Palestinian militants on Israel. Sources familiar with conversations between Netanyahu and senior U.S. officials, including Secretary of State John Kerry, say the Israeli leader advised the Obama administration "not to ever second guess me again" on the matter. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, may the entire world, not just the US government, clearly hear what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is saying here about Your special land and people. He clearly is saying that Hamas is the issue, not Israel, and that this must be understood. Father, keep PM Netanyahu strong and determined, clearly hearing Your direction and wisdom. We pray this in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "But the Lord your God you shall fear; and He will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies." (2 Kings 17:39 NKJV)

4. Netanyahu vows to use 'as much power as needed' in fighting against Hamas - Fox News

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vows to use as much military power as needed and fight 'as long as it will take' against terror group Hamas to restore peace to his country. In a TV speech in Jerusalem that appeared in part directed at Israelis beleaguered by the fighting's destruction and death toll, Netanyahu gave no indication of moving toward a cease-fire with Hamas, the Islamic militant group.

Netanyahu promised to "bring back the quiet" and use "as much power as needed." He said the time frame is only "as long as it will take." (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we lift up praise that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is clearly informing the nations of the earth that this fighting will continue until Israel and her people can live safely in peace without fear of never ending assaults from Hamas in Gaza. He states that he will have Israel use whatever power is necessary to achieve this end, and that other nations need to understand this policy. We thank You that You do promise to continue to abide and hover over Israel and her people. We pray this in Jesus' Name, Amen and Amen.

- "You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield." (Psalm 115:11 NKJV)

5. Hamas says Israel can't achieve calm without agreeing to cease-fire 'on our terms' - Jerusalem Post

Israel will not send envoys to Gaza truce negotiations in Egypt on Saturday as planned, an Israeli official said, accusing Hamas of misleading international mediators. "Hamas is not interested in an accommodation," the official said on condition of anonymity. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we ask that the international mediators awaken and grasp what is truly occurring here, and how Hamas has clearly stated that their goals is the annihilation of Israel and her people. A nation cannot negotiate with such an enemy and the international mediators need to fully understand this reality. We pray that You, Father, will confront these mediators with these truths and with a fear and awe of You. In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen and Amen.

- "A fool has no delight in understanding, but in expressing his own heart." (Proverbs 18:2 NKJV)

6. UN chief Ban Ki-moon condemns Hamas violation of cease-fire, capture of IDF soldier - Jerusalem Post

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned on Friday the reported violation by Islamist Hamas militants of a 72-hour humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza and demanded the immediate, unconditional release of a captured Israeli soldier. "He is shocked and profoundly disappointed by these developments," UN spokesman said. "The secretary-general is deeply concerned about the resumption of Israeli attacks on Gaza." (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we offer praise that UN chief Ban Ki-moon now sees how Hamas violated the cease-fire that they had requested. May this man's eyes and understanding continue to expand to comprehend what is happening in this conflict and why Israel has to fight, reversing previous 'beliefs' of where the fault lies. We pray this in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "Let all those who hate Zion be put to shame and turned back." (Psalm 129:5 NKJV)

7. Anti-Semitism Rises in Europe Amid Israel-Gaza Conflict - New York Times

Across Europe, the conflict in Gaza is generating a broader backlash against Jews, as threats, hate speech and even violent attacks proliferate in several countries. Most surprising perhaps, a wave of incidents has washed over Germany, where atonement for the Holocaust and other Nazi crimes is a bedrock of the modern society. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we know You observe this intense anti-semitism that is rising and expanding throughout the EU. It now is manifesting in Germany where the atonement for the holocaust and Nazi crimes supposedly occurred by their society. Father, we ask that You direct Your people to know what You would have them do and urge them to do it quickly. We pray in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "Let not a slanderer be established in the earth; let evil hunt the violent man to overthrow him. I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and justice for the poor. Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name; the upright shall dwell in Your presence." (Psalm 140:11-13 NKJV)

8. Latin America comes out in force against Israel - YahooNews.com

Latin America's leaders are among the most vehement in condemning Israel's Gaza offensive -- labelling the Jewish state "terrorist", recalling ambassadors, and offering near-unanimous, unwavering support to Palestinians. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, this report shows a frightening development. Suddenly, it seems that most of the South American nations are now almost unanimously anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian. Father, how has this occurred? We ask that You confront them fully with an understanding and fear of who You are and what they are saying. We pray this in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.

- "The ear that hears the rebukes of life will abide among the wise." (Proverbs 15:31 NKJV)

Please note: one prayer point on Sunday's Bullets read, "Pray for the Lord to dismantle the US and to declare it null and void." Of course, it is the UN we wish to see dismantled -- not the U.S.!!! Thank you!

10. IDF withdraws majority of ground forces from Gaza
- Ynet News

The IDF has withdrawn the majority of its ground forces back to staging areas outside Gaza on Sunday, with the IAF striking only 15 targets in the Strip since midnight after a relative decline in the number of rocket launches on Israel - yet the residents of the south remain under attack. ABOUT OUR ANGEL:

This photo was taken sometime during the last 10 days by an anonymous Israeli soldier over Kibbutz Nir- Am , very close to the border of the current conflict with Hamas terrorists in Gaza. Looks like an angel ! It's really just a natural cloud formation, made from high level , very fine ice crystals, but comforting to see , none the less, Psalm 91 :11.

A Miracle in Israel!

A Miracle in Israel!

Clouds of Glory' Protected Us, Says Givati Brigade Commander

At the beginning of the Gaza campaign the Jerusalem Channel posted a prayer alert concerning an infantry brigade commander who was not ashamed to call his troops to prayer. His name is Col. Ofer Winter, a Givati Brigade commander, and we called for intercessory prayer support on his behalf because of loud criticisms by the politically correct detractors.

But now, here is a wonderful answer to our prayers: a "divine miracle" protected the soldiers under Winter's command who are fighting in the Gaza Strip, according to a report quoted in The Times of Israel.

The Givati Brigade commander made claims of divine protection in an interview with the ultra-Orthodox weekly Mishpacha ["Family"] Earlier, he had met with criticism for rallying his troops with religious messages.

Winter claimed he had never seen such a miraculous occurrence previously in his military career: a predawn raid had been delayed, forcing his soldiers to move in the light of the rising sun, but suddenly a heavy fog descended from out of nowhere to conceal their movements until their objective was achieved.

"Suddenly a cloud protected us," Col. Winter said, making reference to the "clouds of glory" that protected the Israelites as they wandered in the desert. Only when the soldiers were in a secure position did the fog dissipate.

"It really was a fulfillment of the verse 'For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to give you victory,'" Winter said, quoting Deuteronomy 31:8.

This is the same Orthodox Jewish commander, as Israeli troops prepared for the initial ground incursion, who had composed a Biblical-style letter to his subordinate officers. His letter was reminiscent of the spirit of [King] David approximately 3,000 years ago:

"History has chosen us to spearhead the fighting (against) the terrorist 'Gazan' enemy which abuses, blasphemes and curses the God of Israel's (defense) forces . . . We have planned and prepared for this moment and we take the mission upon ourselves out of commitment, complete humility, and because we are prepared to endanger ourselves and lay down our lives in order to protect our families, our people and our homeland."

Col. Winter also invoked the Shema ("Hear O Israel, YHVH is our God, YHVH One, Blessed be the glorious name of His Kingdom forever"), and called upon "the God of Israel" to "make our path successful as we go and stand to fight for the sake of your people of Israel against a foe which curses your Name." Sounds like words of wisdom!
However, the politically correct hounds were unhappy with the rhetoric of this heroic officer. Warning of "a growing phenomenon of religious terminology entering the military . . . an extremely dangerous trend," the executive director of an Israeli organization promoting religious freedom labeled the letter "outrageous" and accused Col. Winter of turning the IDF into a "religious militia."

Nevertheless, all warfare involves the spiritual realities. Therefore please continue to pray for Col. Winter to find favour with God and with men and that many will be influenced by his courageous stand worldwide.

We had prayed that YHVH Tzevaot -"Yehovah of Armies" (one of the most frequently used names of God in the Hebrew Bible) would encourage him and grant him more revelation in His ways. This news is certainly an answer to our prayers.

Winter lauded the importance of yeshiva students studying Torah as beneficial for the war effort. Interestingly, ultra-Orthodox rabbis have called off summer vacation in their yeshivas in solidarity with the soldiers fighting in Gaza!

Continue to pray like David who came against his enemy "in the name of YHVH of Armies, God of the Arraying of Israel, whom you have defied!", who knew deep within himself that "the battle is the LORD's!" (Joshua 5:14; Judges 11:11, 14-24; I Samuel 17:45, 47).
Intercessors, also pray Col. Winter's verse of praise, Deuteronomy 31: 8, "The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." (Source: Jerusalem Channel)

Bulletin: Ebola outbreak threatens our churches

Ebola is a deadly virus with a two-day to three-week incubation period starting with sore throat, muscle pain, and headaches, and culminating with nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bleeding and the shut down of the liver and kidneys. It is acquired by contact with blood or bodily fluids of an infected animal such as monkeys, fruit bats and pigs. It can be spread from human to human through body fluids of an infected person, even by unclean instruments. Preventing the spread of the virus is best done by disinfection and cleanliness practices. There is no current treatment or vaccine for the Ebola virus and the mortality rate is 50-90%. This virus is threatening our churches and outreach in West Africa. Here's why.

I received this report from Pastor William Agbeti, our ministry partner in Ghana: "An official of the Disease Surveillance Unit of the Ministry of Health (MOH), Mr. Michael Adjabeng, appeared on Ghana Television Friday to confirm that the MOH has documented the case of a bat caught in Accra with the ebola virus. The bat was found around Ghana's 37 Military Hospital zone, which is home to thousands of bats. Bat meat is a delicacy amongst many tribes in Ghana; but the MOH is not worried about the consumption of the meat. The health officials are most concerned about how the meat is handled before consumption.

"In a nation of some 25 million people with an illiteracy rate of 65%, coupled with very low standards of personal and public hygiene, it is feared that improper handling of the meat of these secondary carriers of the ebola virus can easily exacerbate an already precarious situation. The MOH has therefore placed the nation on red alert and has advised all citizens to wash their hands regularly with clean water and soap. Our ministry in Ghana has decided to join the national campaign by purchasing and carrying out the free distribution of plastic water containers, bowls, cups, detergents and hand sanitizers to the numerous rural families in villages within its areas of operation.

William has requested: "Would you please join us to reach these poor families with the free items as well as with our educational program on personal hygiene to help stop a possible outbreak of the ebola disease in Ghana? We need your financial help to do so. One may ask: How does this development in West Africa affect Americans? Remember, out of the 729 who have died as a result of the disease so far, three are Americans. Also, remember there are thousands of illegal immigrants crossing the boarders into America with various diseases everyday. Supporting us will go a long way to help stop the spread of the ebola virus from at least Ghana to other parts of the world."

Urgent Message from Sierra Leone

Rock star turned priest, shaken by Ebola Crisis!
Themi Adams Makes World Appeal as his West African Nation, Sierra Leone, Is Declared a 'Public Health Emergency'

By Dan Wooding and John Tsambazis Special to ASSIST News Service

FREETOWN, SIERRA LEONE (ANS) -- The deadly Ebola virus has made its presence felt near the Holy Orthodox Mission in Freetown, Sierra Leone, which is run by former rock star, and now Greek Orthodox priest, Fr. Themi Adams.

Themi was once a member of Australian rock group, The Flies, and once shared the stage with the Rolling Stones and the Beatles, but after a dramatic conversion, became a missionary to West Africa, and is now facing the greatest challenge of his life - Ebola -- which is sweeping his adopted country and causing panic, death and destruction.

Sierra Leone, President Ernest Bai Koroma, has declared a public health emergency in the West African country, and a recent BBC report stated, "He vowed to quarantine sick patients at home and have authorities conduct house-to-house searches for others who may have been exposed as the country struggles with families resisting treatment at isolation centers. Some have kept loved ones at home given the high death rates at clinics where Ebola patients are quarantined," said the BBC story.

"His announcement late Wednesday came as neighboring Liberia also increased efforts to slow the virulent disease's spread, shutting down schools and ordering most public servants to stay home from work."

Ebola now has been blamed for 729 deaths in four West African countries this year, and has shown no signs of slowing down, particularly in Liberia and Sierra Leone. It has also reached Nigeria's biggest city Lagos, where authorities said on Friday a man had died of the virus".
And now Freetown Sierra Leone is in a complete lock down mode and with airline cancellations, Fr. Themi Adams, says he underestimated the impact of this rampant disease spreading so quickly close to home and impacting on his people. . .

On Saturday (August 3), gave a dramatic interview by phone with screenwriter, Wid Bastian, who is working on a script for Themi, a motion picture about the inspiring story of the rock-star-turned-priest.

In the interview, Fr. Themi explained the terror and panic that has surrounded him and made a desperate cry for help.

Themi said: "This country has very much been reduced to trauma . . . "It is a vicious thing, and compared to the Civil War we had here, Ebola is an invisible enemy. It's like an invisible serial killer that strikes and you don't know from where or when. During the Civil War, you could hear the bombs and you could see the enemy and therefore try and take some kind of reactive action, but with this one, we don't know what to do, how to detect when it's about to strike."
. . . "The problem is that a lot of people suffering from Ebola, instead of going to a relatively modern hospital -- at least the best we have here -- have gone to their local witch doctor and the local herbalists, and of course they can do nothing. So eventually that person dies, and contaminates all the people around them. . .
"However, what is interesting from a religious point of view is the president has called for a day of fasting and prayer on Monday, so that's really good to know. . .
He concluded the interview by saying, "This is in West Africa now, but it can hit other countries in Europe, as well as America and other parts of the world. This is no longer just a West African problem -- it's a global one!"

Update: Obama Africa Summit

Two Leaders Dealing With Ebola Skip Obama Africa Summit

The presidents of Liberia and Sierra Leone plan to skip President Barack Obama's U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit next week to deal with the deadly Ebola virus in their countries.

The schedule for three days of meetings planned in Washington hasn't been altered by an outbreak that has killed 729 people, mostly in Guinea, where it was first reported, as well as in Liberia and Sierra Leone.

Discussions on how to provide support in response to the Ebola crisis will be held during the conference with staff from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Department of Health and Human Services, said Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. assistant secretary of state for African affairs. Ebola is a hemorrhagic fever and has no known cure.

"We tried to think of all the things that might happen that might interfere with a successful conference," Thomas-Greenfield said yesterday in an appearance before the Atlantic Council, a Washington policy group. "We didn't come up with Ebola."

The U.S.-Africa conference will bring heads of state, chief executive officers, lawmakers and top Obama administration officials together in Washington to discuss investment, regional stability and U.S. ties to the region, Thomas-Greenfield said.

Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, along with dropping her plans to attend the Washington event, has closed schools and markets, and quarantined some areas to contain the epidemic. Travel for government officials will be restricted to the vice president and ministers attending the Africa summit, she said in a speech. (Bloomberg) Read more.
- We thank the LORD for this beginning of an answer to our prayer last week, that these leaders would remain in Africa. We continue to pray for the safety of everyone in and around Washington, D.C. this week. In His Name, amen.

- (Spoken over this virus) 'Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the king of Assyria, "He will not come to this city or shoot an arrow there; and he will not come before it with a shield or throw up a siege ramp against it. By the way that he came, by the same he will return, and he shall not come to this city,"' declares the Lord. 'For I will defend this city to save it for My own sake and for My servant David's sake.'" (2 Kings 19:32-34)

These decrees have been submitted by Barbara L. Potts, Kingdom Rising Ministries in Maryland. We thank Barbara for her work, and we share these declarations with each of you today, and for your own city, too!

In her introduction to this document, Barbara has added the following thought:

Sara - I sense three main threats here: spiritual, physical, and political. I have addressed all three in the declarations below. . . I believe it is the Word of the Lord for us now. . . and His response is at the end.

We also claim 2 Kings 19: 32-34:

It is written:

'Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the king of Assyria, "He will not come to this city or shoot an arrow there; and he will not come before it with a shield or throw up a siege ramp against it. By the way that he came, by the same he will return, and he shall not come to this city,"' declares the Lord. 'For I will defend this city to save it for My own sake and for My servant David's sake.'"
> > > Note, if you live in the D.C. area, please consider doing a "Jericho drive" around the Beltway any time this week, perhaps using these decrees as you do so! And do send us an email if you will be out there, so we can pray for you, too.

The Good News Corner

The Good News Corner:

Huge victory for pro-family citizens. As deadline passes, ALL radical bills in Mass. Legislature stopped cold -- after heavy lobbying by both sides.

This is what hard-hitting pro-family activism looks like!

At the close of the day on Thursday, July 31, the Massachusetts Legislature -- arguably the "bluest" in the country -- finished its formal sessions. All week the House and Senate were meeting and passing bills to beat the deadline.

The Mass. Legislature met all week to pass bills before the Thursday night deadline.

Right up until the end, the homosexual/transgender movement and Planned Parenthood were lobbying hard to push their contentious, radical legislation still pending. Some bills were in a committee and could have been brought to the floor at any time; others were in a "study" but could have been lifted and brought to the floor if the leadership so decided.

MassResistance was fighting till the end to make sure all of those bills stayed off of the House floor. It's been a rough week! A lot of people -- from all around the country-- got involved.

(We know what that "last-minute" fight to pass a bill is like! Back in 1995, despite the homosexual lobby's efforts, we got our Parental Notification Law passed on the final day -- July 31 -- thanks to fierce lobbying from parents.)

We're happy to say that we were 100% successful! All the radical bills got stopped.

Go Here to see the top bills that (thankfully) didn't make it:

Yellowstone Volcano Eruption Effects:

Entire World Would be at Risk if Supervolcano Erupts

The Yellowstone volcano is an increasing source of interest, being perceived as one of the volcanoes most likely to erupt in the United States and the subject of a number of articles, videos, and blog posts. People have been sharing advice on how to survive if the volcano does end up erupting anytime soon. Now it's worth looking at the potential effects of an eruption. (The Epoch Times) Read more.

- Heavenly Father, we ask mercy that this Yellowstone volcano be calmed and not erupt with all of its devastating effects upon the rest of the earth. If it is the time for this to occur, Father, direct the scientists who are investigating this volcanic possibility and have them provide an accurate and detailed response of what needs to be done in preparation.  We pray in the Name of Jesus, Amen and Amen.
- "May the Lord our God be with us, as He was with our fathers. May He not leave us nor forsake us, that He may incline our hearts to Himself, to walk in all His ways, and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, which He commanded our fathers." (1 Kings 8:57-58 NKJV)

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."
(Luke 21:25-28)

Today's Birthdays

Today's Birthdays on the Hill

Almost every day of the year, a member of Congress or a Senator is celebrating a birthday. Let's lift up these men and women, day by day in prayer on their special day, that God might bless them and show them His love for each one. Indeed, let's move together in obedience to the Lord's mandate in I Timothy 2:1-4. It is written:
"I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth."

Today's Birthday Greetings go to:

On the Hill:

Rep. Keith Ellison (MN)

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (NY)

Rep. Tom Rice (SC)

At the White House:

Barack Hussein Obama
