The Daily Brief:

"Praying for All in Authority"

Tuesday, August 19, 2014

" Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise."
(Psalm 100:4)

"And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse . . ." (Rev. 19:1)

The Daily Brief

1. Michael Brown Attacked Officer Before Fatal Shooting- Patriot Update

"Josie" called into KFTK NewsTalk 97.1 and said Wilson allegedly thought Brown was "on something" and felt Brown's actions were "unbelievable." CNN has since reported that her recollection matches what Wilson told police after the incident. "Josie" told host Dana Loesch that Wilson's "significant other told me" the account Sunday night before the riots occurred and claimed they have not been in contact with anyone since last Tuesday morning.

After saying that she was scared but wanted to get Wilson's version of the events out there, "Josie" claimed that Wilson said Brown and his friend Dorian Johnson "were walking in the middle of the street," refusing to get out of the street after Wilson asked them to do so. She said there "was some cussing involved," and Wilson "pulled up ahead of them, and he was watching them." At that point, the caller claimed Wilson got a call about a "strong-arm" robbery, and he looked in their hands and saw the cigars that Brown allegedly stole from a convenience store, according to surveillance video that was released.

"Josie" claimed when Wilson opened the door to get out of the police car, "Michael slammed his door shut." Brown, according to "Josie," then "bum rushes him, punches him in the face." She said at one point Brown "got the gun totally turned against his hip," and "Darren shoves it away and the gun goes off."

- Father, we pray all truth be revealed in this situation, and that all protesters will accept whatever truth comes forth. We speak peace to this community, and come against all hatred and violence. Bring restoration to Ferguson, in Jesus name.

2. Missouri governor orders National Guard to Ferguson after latest night of clashes - Fox News

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon ordered National Guard troops to the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson early Monday after authorities used tear gas to clear the streets of protesters hours before a midnight curfew took effect for a second consecutive day, while a private autopsy on the unarmed black teen who was fatally shot by a white police officer reportedly showed six gunshot wounds, including two in the head. "Tonight, a day of hope, prayers, and peaceful protests was marred by the violent criminal acts of an organized and growing number of individuals, many from outside the community and state, whose actions are putting the residents and businesses of Ferguson at risk," Nixon said in a statement released by his office. "I am directing the highly capable men and women of the Missouri National Guard to assist ... in restoring peace and order to this community." (Read more)

- Father, we speak peace to this storm. Bring calm to the emotions surrounding these events. We speak order to the unrest, and pray restoration to the businesses and the community.

- "The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace."'(Numbers 6:26)

3. 'Chilling' Sign Seen Behind CNN's Jake Tapper During Ferguson Protests - The Blaze

A sign that read "ISIS here" was spotted Monday night behind a CNN host during live coverage of the unrest which has gripped a Missouri suburb following the shooting of an unarmed black 18-year-old.

- Father, this sign that was spotted at the Ferguson protests is frightening. If this group has infiltrated our country, we ask You to gather them up and expel them from our midst. We pray their every move will be known and stopped.

- For God gave us a spirit not of fear (2 Timothy 1:7)

4. Holder takes on Ferguson - Fox News

AG 'flooding the zone' with investigators, heads to Missouri

Attorney General Eric Holder, one of President Obama's longest-serving and most controversial deputies, is taking the lead in the federal government's response to the roiling tensions in a St. Louis suburb over the police shooting of an unarmed man.

While the president, who is in Washington for two days of meetings, returns Tuesday evening to his family vacation in Martha's Vineyard, Holder will head to Ferguson, Mo., where protests continue to give way to riots and looting on a nightly basis - straining law enforcement previously accused of being heavy-handed in their response.

From the White House, Obama is keeping a reserved tone by calling for calm on both sides, urging protesters to stay peaceful and police to show restraint. But at the Justice Department, Holder is committing what is being described as an "extraordinary" effort to investigate the local case. (Read more)

- Lord God Almighty, we ask that this visit by the Attorney General not give ground for this violent situation to be further inflamed, but instead serve to quell the anger in Ferguson tonight. Over 150 years ago, our nation was rent asunder by a racial divide. Abba, we ask that this not happen again in our time. We ask this prayer in Your Holy Name, amen.

- "Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven." (Matthew 18:19)

5. Nepal and India floods leave many dead

At least 160 people are reported to have been killed in floods and landslides following days of torrential rain in Nepal and northern India.

In Nepal, officials said at least 101 people were known to have died after rescuers found four more bodies. More than 130 people are still missing.

In northern Indian states severe flooding after rainfall left at least 60 dead and entire villages marooned. The worst of the rain is now thought to be over.

Landslides and flooding devastated rural communities and cut off roads throughout the region. In Nepal, officials voiced fears about a possible cholera outbreak.

- Father, we lift up the people of Nepal and India. We come against any cholera outbreak. We pray restoration to the damage caused by this flood. We speak healing and provision to the people affected. In Jesus Name.

- For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. (Jeremiah 29:11)

7. Abbas orders probe into Hamas coup plot revealed by Israel - Times of Israel

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas ordered his security forces to investigate an Israeli revelation Monday that Hamas was planning a coup in the West Bank aimed at toppling him and starting a third intifada. Abbas indicated the report could severely impact the unity pact signed between Fatah and Hamas in June, saying it represents "a grave threat to the unity of the Palestinian people and its future," the Palestinian news Agency Wafa reported.

Israel's Shin Bet security service said Monday it thwarted a Hamas coup attempt in the West Bank aimed at overthrowing Abbas and starting a new round of violence. (Read more)

- Lift up this pending investigation, asking that TRUTH be revealed in this matter. May Shin Bet be found standing in integrity, and may the enemies of Israel begin to turn upon each other. Our God reigns!

- "It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings." (Proverbs 25:2)

8. ISIS terrorists: We're here in Ferguson - WND

Sign at protest march intended to deliver message of fear

A sign carried by a protester in Ferguson, Missouri, declaring the presence of the Islamic State, or ISIS, is an act of intimidation, warning Americans they should fear the Middle Eastern Islamic jihadist group, even in their own homes, according to an expert.

Islam analyst Robert Spencer, whose Jihad Watch website monitors Islamic jihad worldwide, said the sign, which says "IS is here," is "in line with supporters of the Islamic State taking photos of the Islamic State flag held in front of the White House and other landmarks."

"The objective is to 'strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of Allah' (Quran 8:60) and to emphasize the desire of Islamic State jihadis to strike within the U.S.," he said. (Read more)

- Come against the spirit of fear that ISIS operatives wish to bring upon our land. In humility, thank our Lord for His Hand of protection that will rest upon us, if we but ask Him to do so. In His Name, amen.

- "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." (2 Tim. 1:7)

9. ISIS beheads American Journalist - CNN

A video released by ISIS shows the beheading of U.S. journalist James Foley and threatens the life of another American if President Barack Obama doesn't end military operations in Iraq.

In the video posted Tuesday on YouTube, Foley is seen kneeling next to a man dressed in black. He reads a message, presumably scripted by his captors, that his "real killer'' is America.

"I wish I had more time. I wish I could have the hope for freedom to see my family once again," Foley can be heard saying in the video. He is then shown being beheaded. (no link given)

- We have purposely not provided this link; only to know how deprived these ISIS criminals really are. Only our God can deliver these savages into His Kingdom by way of His Shed Blood, and only He can protect us as well. Come up higher before Him tonight, gazing only upon His lovely face. In Jesus' name, amen.

- "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." (Phil. 4:8)

10. Kurds: Our Battle with ISIS is for the "Free World"- CBN

"Right now Kurdistan is fighting the terror on behalf of the whole free world," he said. "The terrorists of ISIS have gathered here from everywhere in the world, and they pose a threat to countries all over the world, from Australia to Europe and other countries."

The Kurdish commander said their fight is the same fight as the United States and the West. Though President Obama pledged no more U.S. troops on the ground, the Peshmerga believes the needed boots are already here.

"The battle of the whole world moved here to Kurdistan," he continued. "Because we are the people of this region, we know how to fight against ISIS. We know the area and we know what we need to do, so this is why we need the support of the world in order to stand against ISIS." - District Commander Ali Hussein (Read more)

- Father, we thank You for the Kurds and we ask for Your grace and full equipping to be released into the hands of these brave freedom fighters. We ask this in Your Name, amen.

1. Islamic State Continues to Massacre Scores in Iraq and Syria, Loses Control of Mosul Dam - Worthy News

The Islamic State continued to massacre scores of 'infidels' in its 'caliphate' over the weekend as U.S. lawmakers called on President Obama to expand military operations against the jihadist organization. Over the weekend, President Obama informed Congress that he authorized U.S. airstrikes in Iraq to help retake control of the Mosul Dam. On Sunday Kurdish forces, with the aid of over two dozen U.S. and Iraqi airstrikes, were able to retake control of Iraq's largest dam from IS jihadists, who captured the dam less than two weeks ago. 2. Islamic State Changes Tactics, Closing in on Aleppo - Worthy News

The Islamic State continues to capture towns on its way to Aleppo, Syria's largest city, which now stands less than 50 kilometers away. Meanwhile, limited U.S. airstrikes have caused jihadists of the Islamic State to change their military tactics, instead of operating as an army with conventional formations, they are now acting like insurgents and mixing in with civilians to disguise their maneuvers making it harder to strike them. 3. ISIL recruitment drive 'very worrisome' to North African governments - World Tribune.com

Islamic State of Iraq and Levant, with control over large parts of Iraq and Syria, has set its sights on North Africa.

Islamist sources said ISIL has intensified recruiting in several countries in North Africa. They said the recruitment was now meant to help establish sleeper and operational cells in such countries as Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia.

"The cells are being organized by North Africans who have fought and are now returning to their home countries," a source said. "It's something that is very worrisome to the regimes in the area." (Read more)

4. [ISIS] An Evil That Must Be Stopped - Time

Ryan Crocker, who probably knows the Middle East better than any other living American diplomat, recently cut to the chase about the situation in Iraq. "This is about America's national security," he told the New York Times. "We don't understand real evil, organized evil, very well. This is evil incarnate. People like [ISIS leader] Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi have been in a fight for a decade. They are messianic in their vision, and they are not going to stop." (Read more)

Tracking the Virus

Tracking the Virus

"By His stripes, we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5)

1. Canada will donate up to 1,000 experimental Ebola vaccine doses to WHO - RT.com

Canada has offered to donate its experimental Ebola virus vaccine to West African States after the WHO said it would be ethical to use untested vaccines to try and contain the outbreak that has already claimed the lives of more than 1,000 people.

According to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHA) the country sees the vaccine as a global resource and is in talks with the US and the World Health Organization to coordinate the best application of a limited number of doses in its possession.

The deputy head of PHA Dr. Gregory Taylor estimates that Canada has about 1,500 doses of the vaccine, which has not yet been tested on people, saying that 1,000 doses of vaccine could be sent abroad for use, Canadian Press reports.

Taylor also warned that since the drug is yet to be tested on humans, it's not clear what dosage is needed to protect a person, so those numbers could change. (Read more)

2. Ebola-hit states plead for more help, WHO rebuked for slow response - Reuters

Two West African nations and a medical charity fighting the world's worst Ebola epidemic chided the World Health Organization (WHO) on Friday for its slow response, saying more action was needed to save victims threatened by the disease and hunger.

With the death toll over 1,000 and still climbing, the U.N. health agency is facing questions over whether it moved quickly enough to declare the months-old outbreak a "public health emergency of international concern", which it did on Aug 8. (Read more)

3. 'Abundance of caution' prompts isolation for UNMH patient with Ebola-like symptoms - KOB.com (Albuquerque, NM)

Health officials continue to monitor a Bernalillo County woman showing symptoms similar to the Ebola virus. The woman was traveling in the West African nation of Sierra Leone at the beginning of the month. She then returned to Albuquerque and soon after began to develop symptoms on Friday. She was admitted to UNM Hospital on Saturday. The patient is currently undergoing a series of tests and remains in isolation at the hospital -- blood samples will go to the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta. (Read more)

4. Hospitals in the U.S. Get Ready for Ebola - New York Times

Hospitals nationwide are hustling to prepare for the first traveler from West Africa who arrives in the emergency room with symptoms of infection with the Ebola virus.

Dr. Thomas R. Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has said such a case is inevitable in the United States, and the agency this month issued the first extensive guidelines for hospitals on how recognize and treat Ebola patients.

The recommendations touch on everything from the safe handling of lab specimens to effective isolation of suspected Ebola patients. But one piece of advice in particular has roused opposition from worried hospital administrators.

The C.D.C. says that health care workers treating Ebola patients need only wear gloves, a fluid-resistant gown, eye protection and a face mask to prevent becoming infected with the virus. That is a far cry from the head-to-toe "moon suits" doctors, nurses and aides have been seeing on television reports about the outbreak. (Read more)

5. With Ebola Cases Still Few, Populous Nigeria Has Chance to Halt Its Outbreak - New York Times

Health workers have fought the Ebola outbreak to a tentative standstill in Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation, offering at least a chance to eradicate the disease there before it spins out of control, as it has in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, where a sluggish response failed to halt it early.

Nigeria's small number of cases - 11 confirmed and one suspected - provides a brief window in which to wipe out Ebola. If these efforts fail, the death toll could be horrific. The cases have occurred in Lagos, a city with 20 million people, many of them jammed into teeming slums where the virus could become unstoppable.

Dr. Thomas R. Frieden, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said health officials were watching Nigeria with intense interest, because of its huge population and because it is much more of a crossroads than the other three countries, in much closer touch with the rest of Africa.

"We're waiting for the other shoe to drop," he said. (Read more)

6. Struggling Liberia creates 'plague villages' in Ebola epicenter - Fox News

To try to control the Ebola epidemic spreading through West Africa, Liberia has quarantined remote villages at the epicenter of the virus, evoking the "plague villages" of medieval Europe that were shut off from the outside world.

With few food and medical supplies getting in, many abandoned villagers face a stark choice: stay where they are and risk death or skip quarantine, spreading the infection further in a country ill-equipped to cope.

In Boya, in northern Liberia's Lofa County, Joseph Gbembo, who caught Ebola and survived, says he is struggling to raise 10 children under five years old and support five widows after nine members of his family were killed by the virus. (Read more)

The Daily Jot

Prophecy in the making

While much of the attention of Americans and their "leaders" is focused on race riots in Ferguson, Mo., Reuters reports that the Islamic State (IS,once called the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria and Islamic State of Syria and the Levant) has issued a chilling video warning that it will attack Americans "in any place" if US airstrikes hit its terrorists. The video, showing photographs of an American beheaded during the Iraq War, stated in English, "we will drown you in blood." Meanwhile ABC News and others report the US Secret Service is investigating a tweet showing a smartphone screen displaying the Islamic State's logo held up in front of the White House, containing the hashtag #target.

In an August 7 video, a spokesman for the IS said, "I say to America that the Islamic Caliphate has been established. Don't be cowards and attack us with drones. Instead send your soldiers, the ones we humiliated in Iraq. We will humiliate them everywhere, God willing, and we will raise the flag of Allah in the White House." My immediate response is that the American people beat them to it by virtue of the past two presidential elections. Looking deeper into the Islamic State, however, is at least in part an invention of the current White House, which approved the release of its leader after closing an Iraq prison in 2009. There are reports that the US also trained many current leaders of IS in Jordan with to fight Syria.
The US "president" has refused to enforce border security amid warnings from many, including Texas Governor Rick Perry, that Islamic terrorists are crossing into the US from Mexico. There is a publicized threat aimed toward the White House. The US is in the sights of the Islamic State. No president in the history of America has assisted, aided and abetted Islam more than the current "president." Yet these terrorists continue to see the US as "the Great Satan." So much for "New Beginnings" that the "president" discussed in his Cairo speech in June 2009. Those new beginnings appear to have more in common at America having a new beginning toward receiving Islam and Sharia Law than peace with Islam.

In the aforementioned video, IS fighters are indeed attacking the Syrian regime of Bashar Assad, using American military equipment. They are also using that equipment to expand their Caliphate toward Baghdad, massacring Christians and others along the way. Captured or provided, American weapons are being used. The US "president" assisted in establishing IS through the Muslim Brotherhood and al Qaeda. So far, IS is focused on killing infidels, seizing land and taking spoil as does the union of Turks, Assyrians, Persians, and Arabs in Ezekiel 38:12, "To take a spoil, and to take a prey." If and when IS is strong enough and big enough, the prey will be Israel. Prophecy in the making? Perhaps.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!
