The Daily Brief:

"Praying for All in Authority"

Wednesday, August 20, 2014

" Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise."
(Psalm 100:4)

> > > Please note:

The Daily Brief will not be published this Friday, August 22.

"And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse . . ." (Rev. 19:1)

The Daily Brief

1. 'HE WAS BEATEN VERY SEVERELY' Source details attack on Ferguson cop - Fox News

THE POLICE OFFICER whose fatal shooting of Michael Brown touched off more than a week of often violent demonstrations in Ferguson, Mo., suffered severe facial injuries - including an eye-socket fracture - and was nearly beaten unconscious by Brown moments before firing his gun, a source close to the department's top brass told FoxNews.com. (Read more)

- Continue in prayer until all the facts of this case have come to light, in truth. Let true justice be served in this matter.

- "I, the Lord, love justice." (Isaiah 61:9)

2. Holder arrives in Ferguson after subdued protests - Fox News

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has arrived in Missouri to meet with the FBI and other officials carrying out an independent federal investigation into 18-year-old Michael Brown's shooting death. Holder arrived in St. Louis shortly before 11 a.m. CST Wednesday and was expected to head to nearby Ferguson. He was accompanied by several Justice Department officials, including members of its Civil Rights division.

A small group of protesters on Wednesday gathered outside the building where a grand jury could begin hearing evidence to determine whether the police officer should be charged in Brown's death. Holder has promised a thorough federal investigation. (Read more)

- As Attorney General Eric Holder walks this land today, bind the spirit of strife, division and violence that may accompany his walk. Pray for the safety and the protection of all of the citizens of Ferguson, MO.

- "Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." (Matthew 18:18)

3. As Tension Eases on Ferguson's Streets, Focus Turns to Investigation - New York Times

Capt. Ronald S. Johnson of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said that there were only sporadic problems during overnight protests on Tuesday, and he believed they had reached "a turning point." "Tonight, we saw a different dynamic," said Captain Johnson, whose agency is overseeing security here. "Protest crowds were a bit smaller, and they were out early. We had to respond to fewer incidents than the night before. There were no Molotov cocktails tonight. There were no shootings." Police did make 47 arrests overnight. (Read more)

- As all of us joined forces last night to lay axe to the root of racial divide caused by the Dred Scott decision in 1857, asked forgiveness, and sealed this pit with the Blood of the Lamb, a noticeable shift towards peace and calm has begun to take place on the streets of Ferguson. Pray that this "new day" of greater calm would remain, as we continue to stand in the gap before our Lord for our own sins of racism, buried in the history of our nation. In Jesus' Name, amen.

- "The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:16)

4. US officials: Video shows American's beheading - AP

A grisly video released Tuesday shows Islamic State militants beheading American journalist James Foley, U.S. officials said, in what the extremists called retribution for recent U.S. airstrikes in Iraq. The militants threatened to kill another captive they also identified as an American journalist.

The beheading marks the first time the Islamic State has killed an American citizen since the Syrian conflict broke out in March 2011, upping the stakes in an increasingly chaotic and multilayered war. The killing is likely to complicate U.S. involvement in Iraq and the Obama administration's efforts to contain the group as it expands in both Iraq and Syria. (Read more)

- In these increasingly dark days, cry out to God for mercy.

- "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come." (2 Timothy 3:1)

5. US intel confirms journalist execution video 'authentic,' Obama vows 'relentless' fight against ISIS - Fox News

President Obama, reacting to the brutal execution of an American journalist by Islamic State terrorists, said Wednesday that the militant organization has "no place in the 21st century," as U.S. intelligence analysts confirmed the authenticity of a video showing the journalist's beheading.

The president, in brief remarks from Martha's Vineyard, said the video of James Foley's death "shocks the conscience," while vowing to continue the fight against the organization which has taken root across swaths of Iraq and Syria. He called for a "common effort" across the Middle East to "extract this cancer so it does not spread."

The United States of America will continue to do what we must do to protect our people," Obama said. "We will be vigilant and we will be relentless." Military analysts and U.S. lawmakers also say the execution should be a wake-up call to the need to dismantle the militant organization. (Read more)

- Lord God, we repent that we have been asleep on this issue. It seemed that, when others (in other nations) were being beheaded - especially brothers and sisters in Christ - we paid this no heed. And now we, too, have become the persecuted church. We ask Your forgiveness for our short-sightedness, and that Your hand of mercy would now be extended upon us. We repent tonight, and we ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

- "Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you." (Eph. 5:14)

6. Second American journalist threatened with beheading described as loving friend, fearless reporter

Friends and colleagues of American Steven Sotloff are desperately hoping he is released by the ISIS militants who threatened to execute him after beheading fellow U.S. journalist James Foley in a video that shocked the world Wednesday.

Sotloff, a 31-year-old reporter from Miami, is seen at the end of the graphic footage next to Foley's masked executioner who says, "The life of this American citizen, Obama, depends on your next decision." (Read more)

- Father God, we ask for Your Hand of mercy to rest upon this young man, and for Your heavenly host to provide him with miraculous protection. We do ask for this miracle, in Jesus' Name, amen.

- "My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, Your Majesty." (Daniel 6:22)

7. Common Core Support in Free Fall - US News

After months of political debates, lawsuits and protests, support is waning for the academic benchmarks as some of the groups that once most strongly backed the standards are turning away, two national surveys released this week show. Organized opposition to the standards - which was once primarily made up of conservative critics - now crosses all political lines. Libertarian opponents fear federal intrusion, while typically left-leaning teachers' unions are critiquing the implementation of the standards as they struggle with the accountability measures intertwined with Common Core. Parents are also a part of the opposition movement, with thousands pulling their children out of school in November 2013 in protest, and others getting involved in grassroots organizations and speaking their minds on social media. (Read more)

- Father God, we praise You for this answer to prayer! Praise God that the majority of the American people are now waking up to the inherent danger of Common Core. We ask for victory in all 50 states, and with every School Board in our nation, that this wicked program fall to the ground in ashes. Thank you, Lord, amen.

- "It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble." (Luke 17:2)

8. Return of Blackhawk copters surprises and alarms residents -Minneapolis Star Tribune

All across St. Paul and Minneapolis on Monday night, curious and sometimes frightened residents asked the same question: What the heck was that? media and even some local leaders were not told about the training until shortly before the choppers lifted off and the exercises began around 9 p.m.

Turns out it was a repeat visit from the Night Stalkers, an Army regiment based at Fort Campbell, Ky., that specializes in night missions using the famed - and famously loud - MH-60 Blackhawk helicopters. They'll be in the Twin Cities through Thursday, conducting training exercises much as they did here two years ago when they last raised local eyebrows, and up to a dozen times a year in urban areas around the country.

Still they took much of the population by surprise Monday, since media and even some local leaders were not told about the training until shortly before the choppers lifted off and the exercises began around 9 p.m. (Read more)

- In the past two weeks, our office has received numerous reports like these from cities across the nation. We ask our intercessors to remain alert and to remain on the wall for further developments. Thank you.

- For thus the Lord said to me: "Go, set a watchman; let him announce what he sees." (Isaiah 21:6)

9. Gaza op is not over, we hit Hamas extremely hard, Netanyahu says - The Times of Israel

PM mum on fate of Hamas terror chief, Mohammad Deif, amid conflicting reports after strike on home; Rockets shot toward Tel Aviv, airport amid day of heavy fire; Hamas spokesman says no return to talks; rocket hits home in Hof Ashkelon region. (Read more)

- Prayer requests from today's Prayer Bullets:

- Pray that Deif will be taken out (if he hasn't been already), and that the evidence of his demise will be publicly revealed.

- Pray that when this mastermind is silenced, that his disciples will be terrified, and lost in confusion.

- Pray that the demons dwelling within this man will not transfer to any other human being once they are released from his dead body. Pray that the angels of YHVH will escort them to the pit and lock them there.

- Pray that the ears and eyes of the world will be deaf and blind to the lies being spoken and projected to the media by Hamas (and its advocates) in this latest round of defensive attacks by Israel.

- "If ye shall ask anything in My name, I shall do it." (John 14:14)

10. Erupting volcano off Japan could cause tsunami - New Zealand News

An erupting volcanic island that is expanding off Japan could trigger a tsunami if its freshly-formed lava slopes collapse into the sea, scientists say. The small, but growing, island appeared last year and quickly engulfed the already-existing island of Nishinoshima, around 1000 kilometres south of Tokyo. (Read more)

- Father God, we lift up this report to You, and we ask You to stay Your hand upon this Japanese volcano. We ask for a calming of the shaking that even now seems to be manifesting across the planet. We ask for Your mercy, in Your name, amen.

- "Mercy triumphs over judgment." (James 2:13)

Tracking the Virus

Tracking the Virus

"By His stripes, we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5)

1. Ebola Death Toll in West Africa Tops 1,200 - New York Times

As West African nations grapple with the worst-ever outbreak of the Ebola virus, the World Health Organization said on Tuesday that the death toll had exceeded 1,200 and announced increased efforts to forestall hunger in areas isolated by quarantine measures. (Read more)

2. With Aid Doctors Gone, Ebola Fight Grows Harder - New York Times

When people started dying of Ebola in Liberia, Clarine Vaughn faced a wrenching choice: Should she send home, for their own health and safety, four American doctors working for Heartt, the aid group she led there? Or should she keep them in the country without proper supplies or training to fight the virulent, contagious disease, which was already spreading panic?

After much agonizing, Ms. Vaughn, who lives in Liberia, pulled the doctors out and canceled plans to bring in more. The African physicians and nurses left behind told her they understood, but felt abandoned. They said, "We need you guys here," she recalled.

Since then, Ms. Vaughn has wondered if the American doctors might have made a difference, and she asked the aid group AmeriCares to help. It sent in a planeload of supplies that landed in Monrovia, the Liberian capital, last Sunday. (Read more)

3. Surviving Ebola, but Untouchable Back Home - New York Times

The neighbors lined up, smiling and mouthing soft congratulations when the van pulled in bearing Jattu Lahai and her 2-year-old daughter.

No one moved to embrace them. Nobody stepped out of the line of 30-odd people as Ms. Lahai, an Ebola survivor, walked to the room she shares with her husband. A conspicuous space formed around the smooth-faced 26-year-old woman and her baby, also a survivor, as she sat on a bench.

"When I fell sick, everybody abandoned me," said Ms. Lahai, in her darkened room for the first time since the ambulance whisked her away two weeks ago on a trip most do not return from. Crying softly, she wiped her tears with the hem of her dress and spoke a quiet prayer. "I didn't think I was going to come home again," she said, cradling her daughter, Rosalie.

Here in the Ebola zone, the world is divided in three: the living, the dead, and those caught in between. For those lucky enough to survive, coming home is another struggle entirely. (Read more)

4. Three Liberian Health Workers With Ebola Receive Scarce Drug After Appeals to U.S.- New York Times

Three Liberian health care workers who have contracted Ebola received an extremely scarce experimental serum on Friday at a hospital outside the national capital, Monrovia, a Liberian health official said Saturday.

The drug, a mix of monoclonal antibodies called ZMapp, has been tested in animals, but has not been studied for safety or effectiveness in humans. It arrived in Liberia on Wednesday after appeals by leaders there to top officials in the United States and a letter from President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia to President Obama.(Read more)

The Daily Jot

Prophetic brutality of Islam

Many Americans were appalled when President George W Bush termed Islam a religion of peace. Those who knew anything about Islam's long and ancient history of slave trading, drug dealing and brutality could not believe what they were hearing from a president whose nation was attacked by members of this religion. It soon grew apparent that Islam is that strange animal that does not fit in any neat diplomatic category. It is part religion, part government, part military, part economic all rolled into one violent, dark entity that defies modern character and decency. On the forefront, Islam says it is peace and righteousness. In actuality, it is the extreme opposite. Yet the world is still trying to suspend its disbelief.

After all, civilized people don't behave like Islam. So when a force as strong as the Islamic State sweeps across Syria and Iraq, leaving in its wake beheaded, mutilated bodies of children and families, it is a difficult thing to believe. Can anyone really behave this way? Does anyone really have such disregard and respect for human life? The answer is yes. We are seeing it before our very eyes. The Islamic State reveals to the public the brutal nature of Islam that has been hidden for centuries in the closed cultures of the Middle East and Africa. The Islamic State is just the outward showing in condensed time what Islam has been all about since Mohammad reinvented what Ishmael and Esau of Biblical times started.

Imagine what is going through the occupant of the Oval Office's mind as those he supports politically are behaving badly by showing the world their evil. Or is it so commonplace and expected that this barbaric sentiment toward America is all part of the Islamic game to make it look like the "president" is also an enemy? The intrigue, lying and deceiving is part of Islam's millennials-old culture to which it is the unrivaled worldwide master. Beware that the current US "president" knows Islam as no other president, has been assisting its advance through his policies and actions, and he also most likely knows that there will be a certain amount of dispersions cast toward him by Islam just to make it look good.

The ruthless sawing off of reporter James Foley's head by an evil Islamic zealot should be message enough to the world that these people and this religion are a threat to mankind. They will never live in peace with humankind. As prophesied by the angel in Genesis 16:11-12, "Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael: because the Lord has heard your affliction. And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren." Wherever there is slavery and violence in the world today, it is likely Islamic. This is the prophetic brutality civil people shall face so long as Islam is tolerated.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

New from Anne Graham Lotz

Anne Graham Lotz:

9 1 1: An Urgent Call to Pray for Jerusalem

"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem . . . " (Psalm 122:6)

Dear Friends,

As I prayed in early July during the 7 7 7: An Urgent Call to Prayer initiative, I felt as though God took my face in His hands and turned it towards Jerusalem.

It's time to gather and rally His people to Pray for Jerusalem. So, I am inviting you to partner with me for . . .

9 1 1: An Urgent Call to Pray for Jerusalem

And I will pour out on . . . the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son. On that day the weeping in Jerusalem will be great . . . each clan by itself . . . And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: "The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob. And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins." (Zechariah 12:10-12, Romans 11:26-27)

Pray . . . in the 9th month, September
Pray . . . on the 1st day, September 1st
Pray . . . and fast for 1 hour of your choosing

The Purpose:

- For God to pour out His Spirit of grace and supplication on Jerusalem

- For God to open Jerusalem's eyes to recognize her Messiah . . .Yeshua . . . Jesus

- For God to break her heart for her sin and rejection of Him

- For God to save her spiritually and physically as she cries out to Him

Sign up here to receive an email prayer on September 1, 2014 that Anne has written specifically for 9 1 1: An Urgent Call to Pray for Jerusalem that will help us to pray together for the peace of Jerusalem.

Who Is Mohammed Deif?

Who Is Mohammed Deif?

The arch-terrorist of Hamas, Deif, head of the armed wing of Hamas, is the #1 target for Israel.  He is wicked beyond words in his plans and strategies to slaughter the Jews. Deif inspires hatred and vile cruelty, particularly among the Palestinian youth.  It is very likely that Deif ordered the murder of many tunnel workers to keep them from revealing the nature and locations of the tunnels.  He is just that kind of monster.

Not long after Hamas renewed its rocket launching, the IAF fired five missiles into the home where Deif and his family were supposedly hiding.  The house was totally demolished; killing Deif's wife and daughter, and a third unnamed victim.  Hopefully that person is Deif, but there is no way to know at this time.

One of the Hamas leaders immediately began to spin the tale that Israel attacked an innocent household with outrageous force, in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza City; slaughtering the innocent people and destroying the three story home of the peaceful al-Dalou family. Sorry . . . but Israel does not make these kinds of hits unless they have a major terrorist player in the crosshairs.

Watch for the spin on this one to unfold in the media; inspiring outrage against Israel from around the world.  The destroyed home will be one thing, but a 3 YEAR OLD LITTLE GIRL will be the big crime.  Likely, there was a tunnel under the home, which connected to many other tunnels in Gaza City.

Hamas has promised to unleash hell upon Israel for this attack, but I suspect hell is already found throughout Gaza. Israel needs to destroy this manifestation of hell's agenda against Israel, and not merely try to contain it.  The Lord must direct the hits and the movements of Israel's forces. Israel must not back off or show restraint, when the Lord is shouting "NO MORE!" in the face of Hamas wickedness. (Source: Prayer Bullets) Read more.

PRAYER POINTS:

Praying for Ferguson

Praying for Ferguson:

PRAYER REQUEST & GUIDE

August 12, 2014

This guide was sent to us by a prayer leader in the State of Missouri, for which we are most grateful. Thank you for standing in agreement with the saints in that state until peace has been restored to their city again. Amen.

INTRODUCTION:

Dear Prayer leaders and intercessors:

This communication comes to ask for your immediate and ongoing prayer regarding the city of St. Louis. As many of you may already know, a terrible tragedy occurred in Ferguson over the weekend as a young man, Michael Brown, was shot and killed during an altercation with law enforcement. At this time we cannot say for sure what took place regarding the shooting, in fact, it would be unwise to even speculate. However, our prayers must be extended to the Brown family, to the officer involved in the shooting incident and to his family, to the law enforcement officers that are being summoned from all over the city and attempting to keep order, and to the government leaders and workers in each of the municipalities that are now being affected. The rioting, lootings and destruction that took place last night are a manifestation of high level spirits that have been waiting for an opportune time to provoke and enflame. We are asking for intercessory assistance, as we stand in the gap, come in the opposing spirit, and release the Father's heart over this situation and region.

Let us declare PROTECTION over our dear brothers and sisters who live or work in or near that area, as well as, churches and pastors in that area, for protection, favor and wisdom.

We call forth righteous voices to be heard above the fray during this time . . . Heavenly Father, we ask you to use this situation to raise up leaders who will be your mouthpiece, that what the enemy has intended for evil, will actually become a catapult to release and thrust Godly men and women into position for such a time as this.

Let us unite in prayer, according to the following scriptures

More on Dred Scott

Praying for Ferguson:

More on the Dred Scott Decision

This Dred Scott decision also gave rise to bringing runaway slaves back to slavery states. And even rulings that free states were forced to pursue runaways, giving more passions for Abolitionists and their stand for freedom for the slaves. In turn, it enpowered the Southern states for their stands on slavery to be enforced .

And it struck down the Missouri Compromise which had limited slavery North of Missouri, then allowing slavery everywhere, being one of the fundamental causes of the Civil War.

May God's power of repentance, deliverance and healing take place there this week to bring wholeness to our nation.

Pat Allen

Dallas, Texas

- The Dred Scott case is a "root cause" of racial divide and bitterness that still permeates this city and our nation. Lay axe to that root, asking God's forgiveness that we, as Americans, ever even owned slaves, and "seal" the empty space that remains (where this root was taken out) by the Shed Blood of the Lamb.

End your time of prayer by thanking our Lord for His mercy, which yet rests upon us. Amen.

- "The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire." (Matthew 3:10)

Bible 'Balloon Offensive' Floats into North Korea

SEOUL, South Korea -- When it comes to human rights and religious freedom, North Korea is the worst of the worst.

For Christians, the price of belief in God could mean death.

One human rights group is taking action with an unusual aerial offensive to encourage the country's secret believers.

Target: North Korea

Just before sunset, a vanload of undercover Christians from Seoul heads north. For their protection, CBN News concealed both their faces and names.

"What we are doing could get us into trouble," one Christian named "Peter" said.

"We are going here some four miles from the North Korean border and close to the Demilitarized Zone," he told CBN News.

The Demilitarized Zone, or DMZ, is one of the most heavily fortified and potentially dangerous places on earth.

One million armed North Korean troops stand ready on their side of the DMZ; the South has just as many.

One factor that could ruin the whole excursion -- the weather.

"One slight change in the wind direction could mess up the mission," Peter said.

Operation Dandelion

Peter dubbed the mission Operation Dandelion.

"We started this project back in 1991, and just as a dandelion needs the wind to spread its seeds, we need the wind to spread the message," Peter explained.

That message is the Word of God printed in the Korean language on thousands of bright orange balloons.

"It's almost impossible to get Bibles into North Korea, so using balloons is one of the most effective ways to share the gospel," Peter said.

A tank in the back of the van pumps helium into the balloons. The team works quickly, all the time keeping tabs on the wind direction.

Prayers are whispered -- then the release. A few minutes later the balloons begin their slow drift across North Korean airspace.

Upcoming Eruption in Iceland's Vatnajökull?

A level of uncertainty has been declared in Bárðarbunga volcano, located in the northwestern Vatnajökull glacier, Southeast Iceland, due to an increase in seismic activity in the volcano. The largest earthquake of the swarm, 3.8 in magnitude, occurred near Kistufell last night. It could be felt as far as Akureyri in Northeast Iceland, visir.is reports. The seismic activity continues.

As a precautionary measure, a Code Yellow has been declared in Bárðarbunga. Color codes, which are in accordance with recommended International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) procedures, are intended to inform the aviation sector about a volcano's status.

Due to the possibility of a flood in the area, the police in Húsavík have decided to close the Gæsavatnaleið road and other highland roads east of Skjálfandafljót to Askja, as well as part of the road to Herðubreiðarlindir.

Near continuous earthquakes have been occurring in the volcano since early Saturday morning, as stated on the website of the Iceland Met Office. More than 1,000 earthquakes were recorded in Vatnajökull over the weekend, the majority of which were between 1.0 and 2.0 in magnitude. Several earthquakes measured over 3.0 in magnitude, ruv.is reports.

There is no indication that magma has yet reached the surface. (IcelandReview.com) To view this volcano and read the entire article, go here.

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."
