Tuesday, October 21, 2014

The Daily Brief

1. Islamic State: Turkey to let Iraq Kurds join Kobane fight - BBC

Turkey will allow Iraqi Kurdish fighters to cross the Syrian border to fight Islamic State (IS) militants in Kobane, its foreign minister says. Mevlut Cavusoglu added that talks on the subject were continuing, but gave no further details. Tens of thousands of people from Kobane have fled months of fighting between besieging IS forces and Syrian Kurd defenders.

-Precious Lord, we know You do not like to see one group of people trying to conquer another group to impose their bondage on them. We thank You for this important move of the Turkish government to allow the Kurdish fighters to reposition to take back this important city. We pray for mercy for all who have been dislocated by the fighting there and we ask that a witness of Your love and salvation will be made apparent to them.

-"He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder. Oh, that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!" (Psalms 107:14-15)

2. US sends lethal aid to Kurdish forces fighting ISIS in Kobani - rt.com

The Pentagon has publicly acknowledged an air-drop of lethal aid to Kurdish rebels fighting the hardline Islamic State in the pivotal Syrian-Turkish border town of Kobani, shortly after news of considerable gains made against the terrorists there. The Sunday delivery, which also contained other supplies, comes on the heels of renewed US airstrikes on Syria and Iraq's oil infrastructure in a bid to cripple the terrorist group's hold on it. Eleven of the strikes were on the Kobani area overnight.

A brief statement by US Central Command said US Air Force C-130 aircraft "delivered weapons, ammunition and medical supplies that were provided by Kurdish authorities in Iraq and intended to enable continued resistance against ISIL's [Islamic State, formerly ISIS/ISIL] attempts to overtake Kobani." A total of 27 drops with supplies were delivered, another official stated. The aircraft left the Syrian air space following the operation.

-Dear Lord, we pray that the US strikes are being effective and are helpful to the pushing back of ISIS. Thank You for this report of the drop of weapons, ammunitions, and medical supplies. We join our prayers with many around the world that this tyranny will indeed be defeated and not able to reappear in any other form.

-"My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies; my ears have heard the defeat of my wicked opponents." (Psalms 92:11)

3. Nigeria declared Ebola-free after containing virus - Reuters

The World Health Organization declared Nigeria Ebola free on Monday after a 42 day period with no new cases, in a success story with lessons for countries still struggling to contain the deadly virus. "Nigeria is now free of Ebola," WHO representative Rui Gama Vaz told a news conference in the capital Abuja, prompting a round of applause from other officials.

-How wonderful to hear that Nigeria has been declared free of Ebola! Thank You, Father, for this good report. We pray other countries and our own country will heed what Nigeria has done and take similar steps to contain this plague. We pray for our leaders to have divine wisdom to eliminate this disease from our country. We bind up, in the name of Jesus, all attempts to be politically correct with such a serious threat to the health of our citizens.

-"The instruction of the wise is like a life-giving fountain; those who accept it avoid the snares of death." (Proverbs 13:14)

4. US Ordering 34 Million Green Cards for Illegal Plan - Newsmax

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has published a draft solicitation for a contractor capable of producing 4 million cards a year for five years - and 9 million in the early stages - that would allow immigrants to live and work in the country, Breitbart reports.

- Father, we pray for a legislative breakthrough on the immigration issue. We pray You prevent the predicted executive order that would bypass Congress on this important legislation. We pray voters will turn out in record numbers in the upcoming elections to express their voice on this matter.

- The mind of man plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.(Proverbs 16:9)

5. White House: Cutting Congress out of Iran deal 'preposterous' - The Hill

The White House is calling claims the administration is trying to bypass Congress on a nuclear deal with Iran "preposterous." "The notion that we are trying to avoid congressional consultation and input on this is preposterous," White House spokesman Eric Schultz said Monday.

"This is an issue where we talk to Congress intensively," he added. "We will continue to consult with Congress heavily."

(Read more) http://thehill.com/policy/international/221313-white-house-talk-of-cutting-congress-out-of-iran-deal-preposterous

- Father, this bypass of Congress is possible when you take into account the amount of executive orders that have been enacted. We pray Your intervention on this legislation. Block any action by the White House that would bypass Congress on the Iran nuclear deal. We cry out for our government to operate decently and in order. In Jesus name.

- Let all things be done decently and in order. (1 Corinthians 14:40)

6. Obama Sees an Iran Deal That Could Avoid Congress - New York Times

WASHINGTON - No one knows if the Obama administration will manage in the next five weeks to strike what many in the White House consider the most important foreign policy deal of his presidency: an accord with Iran that would forestall its ability to make a nuclear weapon. But the White House has made one significant decision: If agreement is reached, President Obama will do everything in his power to avoid letting Congress vote on it.

- Father, we pray the "president" does the right thing in consulting Congress in the matter of Iran. We pray for a leader who can negotiate matters with his own country instead of bypassing Congress and going it "alone". We pray You uncloak any damaging secret negotiations, and uncover any secret covert operations by Iran.

- Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed. (Proverbs 15:22)

7. Govt tells Christian ministers: Perform same-sex weddings or face jail, fines - Alliance Defense Fund

Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys filed a federal lawsuit and a motion for a temporary restraining order Friday to stop officials in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, from forcing two ordained Christian ministers to perform wedding ceremonies for same-sex couples.

City officials told Donald Knapp that he and his wife Evelyn, both ordained ministers who run Hitching Post Wedding Chapel, are required to perform such ceremonies or face months in jail and/or thousands of dollars in fines. The city claims its "non-discrimination" ordinance requires the Knapps to perform same-sex wedding ceremonies now that the courts have overridden Idaho's voter-approved constitutional amendment that affirmed marriage as the union of a man and a woman.

- Father, protect this couple from any such fines and jail time for refusing to perform same sex weddings. Protect us from such tyranny that is being imposed from the State and Federal level.

- But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

8. Parents outraged as Toys 'R' Us sells 'crystal meth' Breaking Bad dolls - Telegraph

The American toy shop Toys "R" Us has been criticised by parents for selling a range of drug dealer dolls based on the television series Breaking Bad. One of the six-inch figures, which sell for $17.99 (£11.16), even portrays a dealer clutching a gun, with a detachable bag of cash and blue rocks of the drug crystal meth.

- Lord, how far must our society fall? We pray for such an outcry among parents to Toys 'R' Us that they will pull these 'crystal meth' Breaking Bad dolls from their shelves. We continue to intercede for "revival" among our people. That Christian and family values remain strong to uphold our society. That You - Holy Spirit - will change one heart at a time, and that Your people remain vigilant in prayer for all those around us in our circle of influence.

- "But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord." (NLT)(Joshua 24:15)

2. One-fifth of incoming UN Security Council has no ties with Israel - Jerusalem Post

The United Nations voted in five countries last week to begin serving two-year stints on the Security Council, beginning on January 1. Although there was some good news for Israel in the results, most of it was bad.

The good news is that the Turkey of Israel-bashing President Recep Tayyip Erdogan failed in its bid for one of the five rotating, non-permanent seats, losing in balloting to Spain. The bad news is that of the five new members, two of them - Venezuela and Malaysia - do not even have diplomatic relations with Israel. (Read more)

- Lord God, we pray for the nations coming into the UN Security Council. We pray for the salvation of any who do not know You. We ask for the members to seek Your righteousness and not the ways of the wicked. Father, without a tie to Israel they will be less likely to see the importance of standing by it. Lord, we pray for Your hand over all the members, new and old, and ask that You open their eyes and take away hostility toward Israel. Father, we ask for Your will to be done. In Yeshuah's mighty name, amen.

3. UN: Uncertain if all Iranian nuke work is peaceful - Times of Israel

VIENNA - The head of the UN nuclear agency Yukiya Amano sounded a note of caution about Iran's claims that it is not interested in nuclear arms, saying he cannot guarantee that all the country's atomic activities are civilian in nature.

Though not new, Yukiya Amano's comments Monday are significant amid a renewed deadlock in the 12-year probe by his International Atomic Agency of suspected nuclear weapons work by Iran. (Read more)

6. First Aramean registers in Israel - Jerusalem Post

The first Israeli to register under the new Israeli Aramaean nationality is two-year-old Yaakov Halul, the son of Aramaic leaders in Northern Israel. The child's parents, Sha'di and Oxana Halul, waited two years after their son's birth to register his nationality, so he could officially register as Aramaean, as opposed to Arab. (Read more)

7. 'Tremendously Important' 2,000 Year Old Find in Jerusalem - Israel National News

Researchers say the significance of the inscription stems from the fact that it specifically mentions the name and titles of Hadrian who was an extremely prominent emperor, as well as a clear date - a tangible confirmation of the historical account regarding the presence of the Tenth Legion in Jerusalem during the period between the two Jewish revolts against Roman rule. 8. Emerging 'bad deal' with Iran puts Israel on offensive - Jerusalem Post

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continued in private meetings on Monday to express concern about an emerging "bad deal" between the world powers and Iran, a clear sign that his discussion with US President Barack Obama in Washington three weeks ago left him unconvinced.

Netanyahu repeated in private discussions on Monday the warning he gave publicly on Sunday - that an agreement is emerging that would "leave Iran as a nuclear threshold state, with thousands of centrifuges through which Iran can manufacture the material for a nuclear bomb within a short period of time."

One government official said Netanyahu's "No. 1 concern" is that an agreement - which the world powers and Tehran are trying to hammer out before a November 24 deadline - would leave Iran with enough centrifuges in place to allow it to hover above nuclear threshold status. (Read more)

- Abba Father, Prime Minister Netanyahu has such focus. The weight of Israel's security rests on his shoulders. We thank You for him and his commitment to protecting Israel. We thank You that You give him discernment and a watchful eye regarding enemies of Israel. We pray that the world powers will take his warnings to heart and that they will not be fooled. We pray that while they watch ISIS and other threats, they will still keep an active eye on Iran. Father, we ask that You make known the plans of the enemies of Israel. We pray for Your mighty protection over the people and land. We ask these things in the holy name of Yeshuah HaMachiah, amen.

1. U.S. Humanitarian Aid Going to ISIS - The Daily Beast

While U.S. warplanes strike at the militants of the so-called Islamic State in both Syria and Iraq, truckloads of U.S. and Western aid has been flowing into territory controlled by the jihadists, assisting them to build their terror-inspiring "Caliphate." The aid-mainly food and medical equipment-is meant for Syrians displaced from their hometowns, and for hungry civilians. (Read more)

2. Mortar Shells Fired From Kobani Land Turkish Soil - Daily Sabah (Turkey)

ISTANBUL - At least seven mortar shells landed in Turkey's southern Sanliurfa province Saturday during an intense battle between two militant groups in the Syrian town of Kobani. According to an Anadolu Agency correspondent near the Turkish-Syrian border, the shells landed inside the Turkish territory when the battle for Kobani waged on between the Kurdish Democratic Union Party, or the PYD, and the ISIS. 3. Islamic State patrols town north of Baghdad - Long War Journal

On Oct. 17, the Islamic State released a series of photographs of its fighters patrolling in the central Iraqi town of Dhuluiyah.

The photographs show heavily armed fighters marching in the center of the town, with destroyed Iraqi military vehicles littering the streets. The Islamic State fighters are also seen taking up positions in homes in the town.

The jihadist group had previously taken control of Dhululiyah in mid-June and captured hundreds of Iraqi soldiers after overrunning a nearby airbase. But Iraqi government forces backed by Shia militias were reported to have regained control of the town weeks later. The town has changed hands several times since. (Read more)

5. Turkey would oppose US arms transfers to Kurds - AP News

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says his country would not agree to any U.S. arms transfers to Kurdish fighters battling Islamic militants in Syria. Turkey views the Kurdish fighters as an extension of the PKK, which has waged a 30-year insurgency in Turkey and is designated a terrorist group. The state-run Anadolu news agency on Sunday quoted Erdogan as saying the fighters are "equal to the PKK" and that Turkey "would not say 'yes' to such a thing."

Turkey's opposition to arms transfers could hamper the U.S.-led coalitions' efforts to fight the extremists and further complicate relations between Turkey and the United States.

The United States has said it has engaged in intelligence sharing with Kurdish fighters and officials have not ruled out future arms transfers to the Kurdish fighters. (Read more)

6. Iraqi authorities lift curfew in Anbar capital - AP News

BAGHDAD (AP) - Iraqi authorities in the country's western Anbar province have lifted a curfew imposed Friday in the provincial capital of Ramadi over fears that the militants might try to advance on the city.

Anbar provincial council chairman Sabah Karhout said Sunday that the curfew was lifted the previous day.

Karhout says Islamic State militants continue to shell some neighborhoods with mortar rounds but have failed to seize additional territory in the city.

The group has been making gains around Ramadi in recent weeks against the embattled Iraqi military, despite ongoing U.S.-led coalition airstrikes on the militants. (Read more)

7. Aussies go home, Iraqi militias say - SMH.com

Baghdad: Even before a formal announcement, the deal for Australia to help Iraq battle the so-called Islamic State which now controls swaths of Iraq and Syria, drew sharp criticism from forces allied to the Baghdad government. As Foreign Minister Julie Bishop was finalising the deal for Australian Special Forces to be deployed in Iraq to "advise and assist the government of Iraq in building up the capacity of the Iraqi security forces", it was condemned by senior figure in three of the Shiite volunteer militias that now prop up the Iraqi Army on the battlefield. Ms Bishop was speaking in Baghdad, at the end of two days of meetings with Iraqi officials. (Read more)

8. Top Iraq Shiite cleric meets prime minister in sign of support for government's anti-IS fight - Fox News

BAGHDAD - Iraq's top Shiite cleric, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, has met with the country's prime minister in a sign of support for his newly-formed government and its struggle against the Islamic State extremist group.

State TV says the meeting between the spiritual leader and Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi was underway Monday morning but provided no immediate details.

The meeting has symbolic significance because al-Sistani, believed to be 86 years old, has shunned all politicians in the past years in protest of the way they run the country.

Al-Sistani lives in the Shiite holy city of Najaf, 160 kilometers (100 miles) south of Baghdad, and rarely appears in public.

Al-Abadi's newly formed Cabinet is striving to push the Islamic State extremists out of the sprawling territory they have seized in recent months. (Read more)

Taking politics out of the election

Monday, October 20, 2014

Without citing statistics, the Christian population in America can determine the outcome of every elective office in the upcoming election. We are supposedly a nation of approximately 75% Christian. Christians are a hands-down majority. Why then do we have socialists and progressives holding office? It is, in my opinion, because we can't seem to get past ourselves. Over the years, I have heard from many diverse types of Christians. Some believe they shouldn't vote. Others believe they are of another kingdom, so they have no responsibility to America. Others have a difficult time with the choice of candidates. There are so many reasons why not, but few reasons why. We need a standard criteria.

The Bible tells us in Proverbs 29:2, "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked bears rule, the people mourn." This nation has been falling apart for over a generation. It is my opinion that Christians are responsible. Jesus commanded in the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20, "Go you therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and, behold, I am with you always even unto the end of the age. Amen." If we, as Christians, were effectively doing this, the candidates running for office would likely reflect the fruit of our labors.

It has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with who we are as Christians. This is very unpopular to say. But what we are hearing these days from the pulpit, the self-indulgent, self-enhancement, extra-biblical, and emotional gospel that is being preached is in great contrast to the self-less example of servant leadership Christ demonstrated and commanded us to do. We need to step outside of ourselves and do what the Lord told us--make disciples, teaching others to be doers of the word, not hearers only. Then, and only then, will people understand that you cannot separate your spirit from who you are--that you cannot take your faith belief out of how you govern. Otherwise the result is what we now have.

For me, there are specific standards that I use in casting a vote. Does the candidate exemplify godly principles and beliefs? If so, to what extent? Are these actions and beliefs in greater amounts than the other candidate? Folks, we have to start somewhere. God has given you life to live it out. Being a member of God's kingdom is not mutually exclusive to where you live on earth, where you are to glorify him in what you do. Voting is part of our responsibility as citizens. I try to take the politics out of it and compare the candidate against scripture. I often do not like the choices of candidates, but I vote for the one I believe aligns the closest to God's word. God-given freedom comes with responsibility. You can make the difference.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

The Daily Jot (Part Two)

Obama sending humanitarian aid to Islamic State

Tuesday, October 21, 2014

What would the citizens in America and its Founding Fathers have done if George Washington had taken food, clothing, or other supplies provided to his Continental Army and used them to build a revolutionary force against America? What would have happened if Thomas Jefferson had commissioned a US Navy to destroy the Islamic Barbary pirates, but had actually assisted the pirates in their spoil gathering and slave trading efforts during the Ottoman Empire? I'm sure Americans and Congress in the late 1700s and early 1800s would have responded far differently than those of today when a "president" is using US firepower, tax dollars, and humanitarian aid to assist in building a terrorist caliphate.

Actions show intent. Incompetence can be identified and rectified. However, consistent actions show a pattern. That's what we have with the current occupant of the Oval Office. He has aided and abetted the enemies of America and God by assisting them directly and indirectly in destabilizing the entire Middle East. Whether it is the Muslim Brotherhood, al Qaeda, the Islamic State or any militant Islamic organization in between, they are all enemies of America and they are all various shades of the same thing--those attempting to establish a worldwide Islamic Caliphate. Your tax money, military and now State Department are all heavily involved in the "president's" quest in assisting his Islamic roots against America.

Veteran Middle East reporter Jamie Dettmer, who writes for the Daily Beast, Voice of America, and UK Daily Mail, reports "While US warplanes strike at the militants of the so-called Islamic State in both Syria and Iraq, truckloads of US and Western aid has been flowing into territory controlled by the jihadists, assisting them to build their terror-inspiring "caliphate."...The Bible says if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him something to drink-doing so will "heap burning coals" of shame on his head. But there is no evidence that the militants of the Islamic State, widely known as ISIS or ISIL, feel any sense of disgrace or indignity (and certainly not gratitude) receiving charity from their foes."

Dettmer continues: "Quite the reverse, the aid convoys have to pay off ISIS emirs (leaders) for the convoys to enter the eastern Syrian extremist strongholds of Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor, providing yet another income stream for ISIS militants, who are funding themselves from oil smuggling, extortion, and the sale of whatever they can loot, including rare antiquities from museums and archaeological sites." The US aid comes from a branch of the State Department. It allows the Islamic State to appear like the good guys by satisfying the core demands/needs of the local people. The US "president" is, therefore, materially assisting the establishment of the caliphate government. As Jesus said in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you."

Religious Liberty Conference Call

Religious Liberty Conference Call

Hosted by Tony Perkins and Mike Huckabee

Wednesday, Oct. 22

2:00 p.m. EDT (Adjust to your own time zone)

Dear Friends, Tony Perkins believes that; in light of the increasing, ever more egregious assaults on religious freedom across America in recent months and years; the City of Houston's unconstitutional action against Houston area pastors could lead to an unprecedented righteous stirring among pastors across America, a stirring that leads to an unprecedented Christian vote in the election two weeks from now, a stirring that could spark the spiritual awakening we have all long prayed for.

Yet, just as the Jewish people had to hastily eat the Passover and prepare for the Exodus, so believers in America must make a hasty choice to stand for freedom; or submit to bondage under leaders who have no intention of protecting our constitutionally guaranteed religious liberties, freedom of conscience or speech. What will we do? Nothing? Will we knuckle under bullies who dare to deny our blood-bought liberty to speak and publicly defend the truth of God's Word? Or will we repent, take our stand, pray, vote, and speak God's word all the more boldly (Acts 4:18-29)? Please dial in for this unprecedented conference call for Christian pastors, policy makers, intercessory prayer leaders, and other faithful believers who wish to listen in. Bachmann under 24/7 guard after ISIS threat

WASHINGTON - The danger posed by ISIS to Americans has come to the homeland for Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., and a national publication may be making the ominous threat even worse.

Politico has reported federal officials are taking an online threat to the congresswoman so seriously she in now under 24-hour protection by a security detail.

However, Politico may be adding fuel to the fire by incorrectly reporting that the congresswoman had called on President Obama to declare war on Islam.

"Bachmann has been publicly critical of not only ISIL, but also Islam, calling on President Obama to declare war on the religion during a speech at the conservative Value Voters Summit at the end of September," reported Politico.

The political website appears to have taken the remarks, particularly the word "war," greatly out of context.

From the text of her speech, it appears Bachmann is clearly calling for war on the Islamic State.

She does cajole President Obama to recognize how a "radical ideology" that comes from Islam motivates jihadis such as the Islamic State, also called ISIS.

But she never calls for a war on Islam. (Read more)

- Father God, we lift up our precious Sister in Christ before Your Throne of Grace, Rep. Michele Bachmann, and we ask, O Lord, for Your Hand of protection to rest upon her and her household. We thank You that You can commission a host of angels to safeguard her life, her home, and the lives of her household, as she continues to faithfully serve You by speaking truth in the Halls of Congress. We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer today, in Jesus' name, amen and amen.
- "Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. . . . For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock." (Psalm 27:3,5)

Commanding Ebola to BOW!

Commanding Ebola to BOW to the Name and the Sword of the Lord!

Prophetic Word: Ebola

-Johnny Enslow

I was just spending some time in prayer regarding the ebola virus and this is what I heard from the Spirit of the Lord:

"The ebola virus is not from Me. I have not sent it to judge anyone or to teach any people a lesson. I am the Healer and the Lifegiver. It is the enemy that comes to steal, kill and destroy and you will now stop him. Ebola will bend and bow and you will insist on that until it is so. I have put my word in your mouth and you will command ebola to bend and bow . . . I am arising as the Sun of Righteousness with healing in my wings. I will now arise and shine in and through my sons and daughters and they will put out the fire of ebola.
There is a great harvest now initiating and the enemy is attempting to kill the harvest. He will not succeed. I will be greater than ebola- and my sons and daughters in many and various fashions will stomp out the fire of ebola. I have even now raised up a David in Liberia that I have given authority over the plague (as I was hearing this I saw a very tall man with colorful clothing). He shall stand up and have power to stem the plague and I will release a fire through his hands that will put out the fire of ebola. This one will then begin to release this anointing to his whole church and then it shall begin to go viral as a Holy Spirit operation of power and authority that will kill that murdersome virus.
I will even raise up in Liberia and Sierra Leone a new standard of divine healing that will also have authority over the other demonic diseases of Africa. Malaria will bow as will many other killer viruses. Here in America do not fear. I have allowed you to get a taste of what ebola is so that you arise and shine even on behalf of your brothers and sisters in West Africa. Do not yield yourself to the speculative anxiety and fear being released by the media. Let me be your media and arise and shine with me.
Ebola has not become Lord, I am the Lord. So you shall agree with me and speak into the subatomic particle level of the ebola virus and say "Bend and bow in the name of Jesus!" Say it out loud. Say it on your social networks. Say it as you speak with one another. Release the sword of your mouth into the teeth of the enemy and shatter his advance. Today I call and empower you to arise with Me and together we will shatter this dark thing called ebola." Johnny Enslow

Forbes Calls for Congress to Reconvene

Forbes Calls for Congress to Reconvene Session
to Address Ebola Containment

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Friday, October 17, 2014

Washington, D.C. - Congressman J. Randy Forbes (VA-04) issued the following statement:

"The continued spread of Ebola infections in the United States, coupled with lax travel oversight of persons in contact with the lethal virus, have frayed the confidence of many in this Administration's ability to further contain this deadly disease. Given calls from world health leaders for an urgent international response within the next 60 days to prevent an unprecedented situation, I believe both houses of Congress should immediately suspend district work and return to Washington to develop a thoughtful, coordinated, all-of-government containment strategy to prevent the spread of this disease. Delaying this critical work until after the election would be foolish and dangerous."

Earlier this week, the World Health Organization warned that, at current rates, nearly 10,000 West Africans a week will contract the Ebola virus by the end of December. Yesterday, Forbes issued a statement calling for the U.S. government to immediately implement temporary travel restrictions to and from the West African countries experiencing Ebola outbreaks. That statement is available here.

- Father God, we ask that Speaker John Boehner and all of Congress would take heed to the wise words published by Congressman J. Randy Forbes. Even though, this week, the urgency of this Ebola crisis seems to have settled down, we know that we are not yet out of danger. Lord God, please move on the hearts of our legislators to take the action necessary to protect our people from this lethal plague. We ask this in Jesus name, amen.
- "If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it." (John 14:14)

"Out Of Control"

"Out Of Control"

Politico conducted a poll earlier this month and asked voters several questions about their views of the United States. The findings were striking. For example:

- Only 20% of voters felt the country was "generally headed in the right direction."

- Just 22% said they had "a lot of confidence" that the government was "doing everything possible to contain Ebola."

- And 64% agreed with this statement: "Things in the U.S. feel like they are out of control right now."

When a ship wrecks, the captain is tested to see if he's under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Well, the captain of our ship of state is under the influence of left-wing ideology, which is why things feel so out of control.

Yet if nearly two-thirds of the country says we are out of control, why are so many Senate races so close? I believe it's because the GOP consultant class is so out of touch with Main Street America.

If you polled that 64% of voters and asked why they think we're out of control, I suspect they would mention few of the issues the GOP consulting class insists should be on the party's agenda. Just consider immigration as one example.

GOP elites who continue to push an Obama-lite, comprehensive reform plan are completely at odds with most conservatives and even many Americans. It's no coincidence that Democrats are running ads against amnesty and in support of border security. The polling is overwhelming. Yet Republican establishment's timidity has amounted to a preemptive surrender on the issue, just as it has with the sanctity of life and the defense of normal marriage. (Gary Bauer)

Pray for the Election (Part Five)

Urgent Prayer to Cover the Elections

Dear Friends in the faith,

Please join us tonight and tomorrow, Oct 20 and 21, through Nov 4 at 9pm EST to pray that nothing would hinder people coming out to vote in the upcoming elections. Much is at stake, and if a time of unrest occurs it could very well result in martial law. No one has to explain what that could mean.

The call number is 1-857-232-0156, access 377054#. Please sign on 15 minutes early so we can be ready to pray at 9pm.

Christ is all,

Jerry and Judy Ball

Hope in Ebola Fight? These Two African Countries Declared "Ebola Free," Monitoring Lifted for at Least 43 in Texas-No Symptoms

(Texas)-There may be a little brighter spot on the horizon in the fight against the deadly Ebola virus, according to a CNN report on Monday.

The 43 people in Texas, who had been in a 21-day monitoring period after having come in contact with Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan, have now been officially cleared after they demonstrated no symptoms during that time.

Five others will likely be cleared soon, according to the report. Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins remarked, "Thankfully, they are all asymptomatic, and it looks like none of them will get Ebola."

Meanwhile, two countries in Africa were declared to be "Ebola-free" on Monday, they are: Nigeria and Senegal.

The World Health Organization reportedly praised Senegal's swift response to the Ebola outbreak there, which included; identifying and monitoring 74 close contacts of the patient, prompt testing of all suspected cases, stepped-up surveillance at the country's many entry points and nationwide public awareness campaigns.

5th Order Rainbow Discovery Image

The familiar primary and secondary rainbows have been known since there were eyes. The long sought 3rd and 4th order rainbows were finally imaged in 2011. Now we have the 5th order.

Harald Edens photographed it on August 8, 2012. This is the first ever image on which the 5th order rainbow is positively identified. . . There lies part of the fabled quinary or 5th order rainbow made by sunlight reflected five times inside raindrops. We see only its broad greens tending to blue towards the primary bow. Its yellows and reds are hidden behind the secondary bow.

Harald took this from the Langmuir Laboratory for atmospheric research near the 10,800ft summit of South Baldy Peak, New Mexico, USA. Harald has now photographed the 5th order several times. He ascribes his success to the very bright rainbows formed locally from small thunderstorms and to the exceptionally clear high altitude low density air. Astute observation over many years by an atmospheric optics expert also helps somewhat!

What next? The 6th order is lost in the light inside the primary bow. The 7th order could be next! (Atmospheric Optics) Read more.

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."

Today's Birthday

Today's Birthday on the Hill

Almost every day of the year, a member of Congress or a Senator is celebrating a birthday. Let's lift up these men and women, day by day in prayer on their special day, that God might bless them and show them His love for each one. Indeed, let's move together in obedience to the Lord's mandate in I Timothy 2:1-4. It is written:
"I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth."

Today's Birthday Greeting goes to:

Rep. Pat Tiberi (OH)
