The Daily Brief: (Part Two)

"Praying for All in Authority"

Tuesday, November 18, 2014

But Peter and the apostles answered, "We must obey God rather than men." (Acts 5:29)

". . . the glory of the LORD filled the temple. . ." (2 Chronicles 5:14)

The Daily Brief

1. Statement by the President on Attack in Jerusalem - White House Press Office

I strongly condemn today's terrorist attack on worshipers at a synagogue in Jerusalem, which killed four innocent people, including U.S. citizens Aryeh Kupinsky, Cary William Levine, and Mosheh Twersky, and injured several more. There is and can be no justification for such attacks against innocent civilians. The thoughts and prayers of the American people are with the victims and families of all those who were killed and injured in this horrific attack and in other recent violence. At this sensitive moment in Jerusalem, it is all the more important for Israeli and Palestinian leaders and ordinary citizens to work cooperatively together to lower tensions, reject violence, and seek a path forward towards peace. (Read more)

- Lord God, we ask that our government not use this morning's horrific attack as a reason to bring "peace" to the nation of Israel that includes dividing its land. We ask, Lord, that all Americans would instead take time this evening to bow our heads, to pray for those who mourn, and to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, as Your Word teaches us to do. We ask this prayer in Jesus' name, amen and amen.

- "I have set watchmen upon your walls, O Jerusalem, who shall never hold their peace day nor night: you that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence."
(Isaiah 62:6)

2. U.S. House passes Keystone bill - Fox News

The Republican-led U.S. House of Representatives approved the Keystone XL pipeline on Friday, but a similar measure struggled to get enough support in the Senate and President Barack Obama indicated he might use his veto if the bill does get through Congress.

Please read more on the Senate response to the Keystone bill by going here.

- Precious Lord, we ask You to do a miracle to see that this bill is passed and signed into law for the good of the country. We ask You to change hearts and change mindsets that are against this action. Even so, if it is not signed into law now, we pray it will become law next year with a new Congress. We thank You for Your loving care for us and for our country.

- "The kings heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will." (Proverbs 21:1)

UPDATE: Senate Keystone bill fails by 1 vote

3. Chicken-like bird threatens western state economies, as feds weigh new rules - Fox News

A small, chicken-like bird is threatening economies across the American West as the feds weigh new regulations to protect it.

Meet the sage grouse. The animal stands at the center of the latest battle pitting America's domestic energy industry against conservationists trying to protect a little-known species from harm. Like past clashes over the spotted owl or a desert-dwelling pronghorn, the results could be costly.

The federal government already listed one variety of the bird, the Gunnison sage grouse, as threatened under the Endangered Species Act earlier this month, prompting Colorado to prepare a lawsuit over the decision. But that bird only thrives in western Colorado and eastern Utah. The feds continue to weigh a far more expansive listing of its cousin, the greater sage grouse. That bird lives in 11 western states, and an endangered species listing could have a much bigger economic impact. (Read more)

- Father, we pray that a solution can be made to protect the sage grouse without heavy regulations that would threaten the economy of the American West. Reveal a plan that would be beneficial for both sides of this debate. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

- "If you don't know what you're doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help."
(James 1:5)

4. Gruber: 'Seniors do a terrible job choosing' health care plans - Fox News

ObamaCare architect Jonathan Gruber said "seniors do a terrible job choosing" their own public health care plans, according to presentation slides Gruber wrote that were obtained by The Daily Caller. With ObamaCare limiting patients' ability to choose their own insurance plans, doctors and medications, we might now know why: the law's designers don't think people know how to choose. (Read more)

- Father, protect American citizens from those in big government who think they can decide what is best for the people. Give us the strength, motivation, and passion to stand up and make our voices heard to retain our right to our own decisions based on the standard You lay out for us in Your written Word. In Jesus' Name, amen.

- "Give the king Your judgments, O God, And Your righteousness to the king's Son. He will judge Your people with righteousness, And Your poor with justice. The mountains will bring peace to the people, And the little hills, by righteousness. He will bring justice to the poor of the people; He will save the children of the needy, And will break in pieces the oppressor." (Psalm 72:1-4)

5. Sheer size of US-Canada border stokes terrorism fears - Fox News

Lone-wolf terrorists heeding Islamic State's call to attack inside North America could move easily between the U.S. and Canada, where the enormous border cuts through four Great Lakes and vast areas of remote tundra crisscrossed by back roads seldom seen by either nations' border patrol agents, experts say. (Read more)

- Father, we pray that the U.S. and Canada work closely to secure the borders. Give these leaders strategic plans on protecting the remote areas of the border that are unprotected. We dispatch the angels of God around these borders, in Jesus Name.

- Now it came about when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing opposite him with his sword drawn in his hand, and Joshua went to him and said to him, "Are you for us or for our adversaries?" He said, "No; rather I indeed come now as captain of the host of the LORD." (Joshua 5:13-14)

6. Unexplained, polio-like illness has paralyzed 75 kids - USA Today

An unexplained, polio-like illness has affected 75 children across the country, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. (Read more)

- Oh Lord, we appeal to You, our Great Physician, for mercy for the health of our country's children regarding this unexplained, paralyzing illness. Father, we ask that You would give wisdom to doctors and researchers so that this illness will be defined, a treatment found, and this plague be removed from our midst. Forgive us for abandoning You, Jesus, as the ultimate healer. We pray this in Your Name, amen.

- "And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness out of the midst of thee." (Exodus 23:25)

7. Franklin Graham condemns Washington cathedral for hosting Muslim prayer service - Christianity Today

The first Muslim prayer service ever hosted at Washington's National Cathedral, a landmark Christian church in the US capital, . . . drew criticism from leading conservative spokesman Rev Franklin Graham.

Graham, son of evangelist Dr Billy Graham and one of America's foremost Christian leaders, warned of the danger of obscuring the uniqueness of Christ when he wrote on his Facebook page: 'It's sad to see a church open its doors to the worship of anything other than the One True God of the Bible who sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to earth to save us from our sins. Jesus was clear when He said, 'I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me' (John 14:6).'" (Read more)

- Father God, we agree with Franklin Graham, and we ask that other voices would be raised to object to what happened last Friday at National Cathedral. We ask You, dear God, to intervene whenever an imam would seek to speak in one of our Christian churches. Enough, and no more! In Jesus' name, amen.

- The voice of nobles was hushed, And their tongue stuck to the roof of their mouth. (Job 29:10)

8. Hagel acknowledges may have to consider troop recommendations in Iraq - CNN

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is acknowledging he may have to consider recommendations to place ground forces in Iraq to help forces there locate targets if, in fact, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff makes that recommendation. (Read more)

- Lord, we see that things are not going as planned by many in high office. We pray that those in authority will inquire of You to know the best plan to protect our country's interests both here and abroad. We pray these efforts will be effective and not done for show or for political gain. We ask this prayer in Jesus' name, amen.

- "To bind his princes at his pleasure, and teach his elders wisdom." (Psalms 105:22)

9. Desperate plight of Yazidi woman who begged West to bomb her brothel after ISIS militants sold her into sex slavery - Daily Mail UK

A group raising awareness of ISIS' persecution of women in the vast swathes of the Middle East under its control said the woman had contacted Kurdish peshmerga fighters by telephone to plead for the brothel to be bombed to put the women held as sex slaves out of their misery. (Read more)
[Not meant for young eyes . . .]

- Abba Father, we seek Your mercy and grace for all of these Yazidi women and all the Christian believers who are being raped and murdered by these demon driven ISIS fighters. We ask You to stop these nightmarish actions and to guide the Peshmerga fighters as to Your desired response to have these actions shut down. Mercy, Father, we pray, in Jesus' Name and under His Shed Blood, Amen and Amen.

- "Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord." (Romans 12:19)

Eight other people were reported wounded, including four in serious condition, two in moderate condition and two who sustained light wounds.

"We are viewing this as a terrorist attack," police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said.

According to police, the two suspected Palestinian terrorists, armed with a gun and axes, attacked worshipers after entering a synagogue on Agasi Street in the capital's Har Nof neighborhood. Two police officers quickly arrived to the scene and exchanged fire with the suspects, killing them. (Read more)

Speaking on condition of anonymity, official sources confirmed to the newspaper that Kerry called PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and warned him against taking any unilateral measures, threatening to impose financial and political sanctions on the PA. He said the most effective way forward would be to resume negotiations. (Read more)

4. Haniyeh: PM Not Carrying Out His Responsibilities in Gaza - Israel National News

In yet another sign that the Hamas-Fatah unity government is crumbling, senior Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh on Monday urged Prime Minister Rami Hamallah to carry out his responsibilities in Gaza.

Speaking to the Ma'an news agency, Haniyeh said that Gazans have been disappointed with the performance of the national consensus government. "They expected the government to rebuild Gaza, pay salaries, and lift the siege," Haniyeh said. He stressed that the Hamdallah-led government is responsible for Gaza just as it is responsible for Judea and Samaria, adding that contacts between Hamas officials and the unity government were ongoing.

"We are in contact at numerous levels in order to remedy this situation. I hereby tell Dr. Rami: You must take quick steps to remedy the health situation. It is unacceptable to treat Gaza so harshly," Haniyeh told Ma'an. (Read more)

5. EU threatens 'further action' to protect two-state solution- Times of Israel

The European Union on Monday harshly condemned Israel for settlement expansion, threatening to "take further action" to respond to Israeli moves deemed harmful to the two-state solution, but refrained from announcing concrete sanctions.

At the same time, an internal EU document was revealed in Haaretz that showed preliminary sanctions the union is considering imposing on Israel, including recalling European ambassadors and cutting ties with Israeli leaders who publicly oppose the two-state solution. (Read more)

6. PA airs 'anti-Semitic' film as tensions mount in Jerusalem - Times of Israel

As tensions in Jerusalem between Israelis and Palestinians flared, the official Palestinian Authority TV station last week rebroadcast a film documenting the history of the Fatah movement which contains anti-Semitic messages.

The video, which was aired on November 11 amid heightened tensions between Israel and the Palestinians over the Temple Mount, demonizes Jews and says the 20th century Jewish settlement in British Mandate Palestine was European scheme to rid the continent of them, Palestinian Media Watch reported. 7. Egypt to deepen buffer zone with Gaza after finding longer tunnels - Reuters

Egypt will double to one kilometre (0.62 mile) the depth of a security buffer zone it is clearing on its border with the Gaza Strip after some of the worst anti-state violence since President Mohamed Mursi was overthrown last year.

Egypt declared a state of emergency in the border area after at least 33 security personnel were killed last month in two attacks in the Sinai Peninsula, a remote but strategic region bordering Israel, Gaza and the Suez Canal. (Read more)

Three recent events with prophetic significance to US

Monday, November 17, 2014

There are many current events that have prophetic significance these days. A look to the the Middle East gives us several a day, especially with the advance of the so-called Islamic Caliphate, the Islamic State, in Syria and Iraq. The implications for coalescing an end time coalition of Islamic states against Israel are enormous and Turkey's involvement is also something to be placed on a constant watch list. The nations named in the Bible who are led by the antichrist, the Beast, in coming against Israel in the Day of the Lord are all Arab/Islamic with Gog of MaGog coming directly out of modern Turkey. There are, however, certain recent events that have dire prophetic implications here in America.

On November 3, the first tenants entered One World Trade Center, built on the site of the 9/11 Islamic attack on America. USA Today reported that the "408-foot spire" of the building "which weighs 758 tons, includes a broadcast antenna and a light that will be visible from miles away to serve as a both a beacon for aircraft and a permanent signal of triumph over extremists who jolted the city and the country." This "spire" is shaped identically to an Islamic minaret. Two blocks from the World Trade Center minaret is Park 51, originally slated to be a mosque. As of August 14, it is an Islamic museum, including an Islamic prayer space and condos developed by US-born Islamist Sharif El-Gamal.

The three: The National Cathedral was chartered by Congress in 1893 as a national house of prayer under the Protestant Episcopal Church Foundation. It was meant for Christian prayer. On November 14, Islam "claimed" the National Cathedral by holding Islamic prayer in the building. On November 16, the Islamic State announced the beheading of another American citizen and vowed to "slaughter your people on your own streets." The same day, Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told Islamic leaders that Muslims, not Columbus, discovered America in 1178. Erdogan's claims of a mosque being built on the location in 1178 are not remotely verified, but he says it would be good to build one there today.

Throughout the Holy Land, Islam claims Jewish and Christian Holy sites as their own. They erect mosques and minarets on those sites. It starts with a proclamation, then a symbol. Jerusalem and Bethlehem are excellent examples. The Islamic State has claimed or destroyed historic Christian sites throughout Syria and Iraq. Islam is claiming America as its own. They believe their acts legitimize and accelerate colonization. Meanwhile, Americans are expected to tolerate and embrace the most intolerant, barbaric, slavers and drug dealers in the world--Islam.

These events are prophetic because they are a precursor to possible Islamic occupation of the US. 2 Corinthians 6:14 asks: "for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion has light with darkness?" We had better figure it out and soon.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Update: National Cathedral

Muslims Take Over National Cathedral for Prayers

Christians Ejected; Reporter Rebuffed

By Faye Higbee

[Editor's comment: we share the reaction of so many of you who were enraged to learn that the imams were planning to hold their Friday service last week at National Cathedral. Below please find an excerpt, describing some of what took place that day.]

"This needs to be a world in which all are free to believe and practice and in which we avoid bigotry, Islamophobia, racism, anti-Semitism, and anti-Christianity and to embrace our humanity and to embrace faith." Rev. Canon Gina Campbell, National Cathedral

In spite of the claims of ecumenical tolerance, the National Cathedral was closed during Friday's Muslim prayers because "people who paid good money wanted privacy." A Christian woman was pitched out of the Cathedral during the Muslim event for proclaiming that Jesus is Lord. Another Christian man was denied entry after attempting to take photos. When confronted by a Breitbart reporter on the radical Muslim Brotherhood roots of the service, the Dean called him an extremist.Though the liberals mock true Christians, and few people showed up to the prayers to protest, the bottom line is that Someone Else was watching the lukewarm church destroy our foundations.

"Do not remove the ancient landmark which your fathers have set." (Proverbs 22:28)
Blurring the line

On November 14, 2014, the National Cathedral in Washington,D.C. hosted Muslims for a time of Jumu'ah prayer for the first time. Islamic prayer rugs were spread around the sanctuary in open defiance of the history of the Church. Over the last several years, the church has been less and less about Christianity, and more and more about "ecumenism" or a "blending" of all religions. The Episcopal Church for several years has turned the building into a place for "all faiths." It is a situation warned about in the Bible: a church that is "lukewarm."

"I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of My mouth." (Rev 3:15,16)
Calling the opposition "extremists"

When Breitbart reporter Jordan Schachtel went to the National Cathedral on Nov 14 to ask the Dean, Gary Hall, some pointed questions about the Muslim event, the man called the reporter a "McCarthyite" and said it was all just "guilt by association." Never mind that the organizers were connected to a terrorist organization who created that event on the anniversary of the slaughter of hundred of thousands of Christians. Never mind that. We're all just a bunch of extremists.

The American Church has abdicated its position

One lone brave woman entered the National Cathedral through tough security, and "disrupted" the service. She became the "voice of one crying in the wilderness" as she stood up for truth in the midst of deep deception. She was ejected forcefully from the Muslim prayer session, as was a gentleman who tried to take pictures of the event. Here were her words:

"Jesus Christ died on that cross. He is the reason we are to worship only Him. Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. We have built enough of your mosques in this country. Why don't you worship in your mosques and leave our churches alone? . . . America was founded on Christian principles . . . Leave our church alone!"
She spoke the truth. Christians are not welcome in Islamic mosques, not even in some places near Muslims at all- like in Mecca, for example. This nation was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. But we have allowed a "high place" in our Churches. In the name of "love," we have compromised the very fabric of our faith in favor of a ruthless, evil religion.

It is not "Chrislam." Make no mistake- Islam is hostile to Christianity. Muslims always sound "peaceful" when they are in the minority- but as soon as their population swells some, things go bad . . . and quickly.

Stealth Jihad

Remember the snake in the Garden of Eden? He told Eve to question what she had been told. As soon as she bought the lie, she and ultimately Adam, lost their blessing. That was a warning. We have eaten the "apple" of Islamic lies. They have succeeded in slithering their way into our midst, into our Christian churches, turning the Christians into lukewarm people and compromising the faith. Remember this: Satan comes as an "angel of light." The Qur'an demands that Christians be subjugated or killed. Their "religion" requires persecution to sustain it.

"A religion which requires persecution to sustain it, is of the devil's propagation." Hosea Ballou 1771-1852

Palestinians Celebrate Synagogue Slaughter

Palestinians Celebrate Synagogue Slaughter

In my special alert this morning I mentioned that Palestinians would celebrate today's barbaric attack on a Jerusalem synagogue. As difficult as it may be to imagine anyone rejoicing at such carnage, The Weekly Standard has posted a video of Palestinians doing just that. Click here and watch the second video.

This enthusiastic celebration of the brutal murder of four rabbis speaks volumes about the sickness that permeates Palestinian society. Mahmoud Abbas, head of the Palestinian Authority (which your tax dollars are supporting), issued a perfunctory statement condemning the killings. But then he immediately segued into why Israel was responsible.

Sadly, the comments from our own State Department and our Israel-bashing president weren't much better. Obama offered a typical "cycle of violence" analysis in which he said a majority of Palestinians wanted peace. No, they clearly do not.

Meanwhile, the European Union has decided that it is time to take a tough stand for peace. It is preparing to impose sanctions . . . on Israel.

How ironic! The E.U. is sending hundreds of millions of dollars to the Palestinian Authority, which is promoting anti-Semitism and terrorism, and European governments think Israel should be sanctioned for not doing enough to promote peace.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the families in Israel and the United States who are mourning the loss of their family members today. (Gary Bauer)

Anxious About Amnesty

Anxious About Amnesty

It seems some liberals are getting anxious about Obama's overreach on amnesty, and with good reason.

You'll recall that just before the election, Obama said that while he wasn't on the ballot his policies -- every single one of them -- were. That said, it's hard to see the results as anything but a complete repudiation of Obama's policies, including amnesty.

On his MSNBC show last night, lefty Lawrence O'Donnell pressed Vermont's Rep. Peter Welch (D) to explain what legal authority allows Obama to issue work permits to as many as five million illegal immigrants. O'Donnell said:

"No one at the White House has been able to give me the legal justification for the following component of the president's plan. . . Can you tell me -- and has the White House told you -- what is the legal justification for the president to create a new category of beneficiaries for work documents? How can that be done without legislation?"
Welch couldn't answer for the obvious reason that there isn't a legal justification for Obama's amnesty.

It's not every day that I will applaud a self-described socialist like O'Donnell. But he deserves kudos for at least questioning Obama's abuse of power, which is more than can be said of most of the media right now.

Occupy Ferguson?

Occupy Ferguson?

Tensions in the St. Louis area are building as everyone awaits an announcement from the grand jury investigating the shooting death of Michael Brown by Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson.

The New York Times recently reported that President Obama met privately with protest organizers, including Al Sharpton, the day after the election to encourage them to "stay on course." Just what "course" is that?

I wonder if the president has met with the Missouri Fraternal Order of Police or reached out to the business owners who had their stores burned and looted.

This has gone way beyond a confrontation between a policeman and the young man who was shot. The Ferguson demonstrations were hijacked by far left radicals advocating every cause from Palestinian statehood to anti-capitalism.

The group Justice for Mike Brown has published a map of potential demonstration targets, such as city hall and the Ferguson courthouse, if the grand jury fails to indict Officer Wilson. But why would the targets also include Boeing, Peabody Energy, Anheuser-Busch and Emerson Electric? It looks like Occupy Wall Street has set up shop in Ferguson.

Once again the left is doing its best to stoke racial divisions with the help of our attorney general and our community organizer-in-chief. (Gary Bauer)

Ferguson Targets Listed

#Ferguson Protest Group Releases List of Targets, Including:

Anheuser Busch, Boeing, Emerson Electric, Airport

The No Indictment.org Ferguson protest group released its list of potential targets following the decision by the St. Louis County Courthouse on the Mike Brown case.

The published map shows expected landmarks like the Ferguson City Hall and the County Courthouse.

But it also marks things that have NOTHING to do with the Michael Brown situation, like Anheuser Busch and Boeing. (Read more here)

5 Million Decisions for Christ:
Billy Graham's Internet Evangelism Hits "Exciting" Milestone

"Like Filling New York's Yankee Stadium 100 Times With People Who Have Said 'Yes' To Christ"

It's still dark outside when Janet Wright takes a seat at her large, wooden desk. She begins typing on the laptop in front of her as a cat curls up in a black cushioned office chair nearby. Wright is in her office at home in Texas, chatting online with a woman halfway across the world-and leading her to a relationship with Christ.

Wright is one of more than 330 trained volunteers with BGEA's Internet evangelism ministry, Search for Jesus. And one of many who are part of a new ministry milestone: 5 million decisions for Christ. That's like filling New York's Yankee Stadium 100 times with people who have said "yes" to Christ.

"Five million is exciting," Internet Evangelism Director John Cass said as the ministry approached this milestone, "but a second later, a minute later, somebody else is going to make a decision, and that's just as exciting."

The ministry hit the milestone Monday morning.
