The Adoption of the Stars & the Stripes

. . . and The Founding of Flag Day

The Adoption of the Stars & the Stripes

In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened on that day in 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.

This resolution is named "The Flag Act of 1777."

The Flag Act of 1777

This Act was passed by the Second Continental Congress on June 14, 1777, in response to a petition made by an American Indian nation (Iroquois) on June 3 for "an American Flag." As a result, June 14 is now celebrated as Flag Day in the United States.

Text of original decree:

Resolved, That the flag of the thirteen United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation. (Source: Wikipedia)

The week of June 14 is designated as "National Flag Week." During National Flag Week, the president will issue a proclamation urging U.S. citizens to fly the American flag for the duration of that week. The flag should also be displayed on all government buildings. Some organizations hold parades and events in celebration of America's national flag and everything it represents. Other organizations and tribal groups hold counter-celebrations and protests. (Source: Wikipedia)

Raising Up Our Military

Raising Up Our Military

The United States Army also celebrates the Army Birthday on this date; Congress adopted "the American continental army" after reaching a consensus position in the Committee of the Whole on June 14, 1775.

The 14 June date is when Congress adopted "the American continental army" after reaching a consensus position in The Committee of the Whole. This procedure and the desire for secrecy account for the sparseness of the official journal entries for the day. The record indicates only that Congress undertook to raise ten companies of riflemen, approved an enlistment form for them, and appointed a committee (including Washington and Schuyler) to draft rules and regulations for the government of the army.
The delegates' correspondence, diaries, and subsequent actions make it clear that they really did much more. They also accepted responsibility for the existing New England troops and forces requested for the defense of the various points in New York. The former were believed to total 10,000 men; the latter, both New Yorkers and Connecticut men, another 5,000. (Source: Wikipedia) Read more here.

A Message for our Nation

A Message for our Nation

In viewing the strategic meaning of this date in American history, we can see that this is a day -- a marker -- in which America's sovereignty was firmly established.

On this date in 1775, we raised up a militia.

And again on this date, in 1777, we adopted a flag.

When a people adopt a flag and raise up an army, they become a nation.
Therefore, on this date America became a new nation. . . a nation which has stood STRONG AND FIRM to this day . . . ONE NATION UNDER GOD.
Today, the sovereignty of this great nation is now being challenged.

This Tuesday, June 16th, this question will rest before Congress:

Will we vote to reject the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPA) and the The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) -- thereby upholding our sovereignty as "one nation under GOD" - or will we yield to the pressure to cede our sovereignty, choosing instead to come under the governance of this global authority?

THE CHOICE IS YOURS, AMERICA. HOW WILL YOU VOTE?

How to Contact Your Member of Congress

Today, Capitol Hill Prayer Partners is encouraging all of our 4,170 partners -- and their friends -- to contact Congress tomorrow and ask that your member votes against both the (revised) TPA and the TTIP when it comes to a vote on Tuesday.

You can reach your member in one of two ways:

First, call the Capitol Hill Switchboard and ask to be connected to your member. That number is: 202-224-3121.
If you are unable to get through, then go to Plan B:

Find the name of your member on the Google search engine and look for the location of his or her own office in your own congressional district. Call the number you find and give your message to a staffer in that office. Your voice will then get through to your member.

In Closing . . .

In Closing . . .

We are all blessed to live in this nation, which enjoys the blessings of democracy. Our voices CAN be heard in America!

Please join us in a silent prayer of repentance that we have taken our freedoms so much for granted in our generation. Then . . . prepare to take action to RESET our hearts, in gratitude, before our Lord that He has chosen to allow us to live in this great land.

At times our voices DO need to be heard on an issue of critical importance to all of us. Today is that time . . . The defeat of both the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPA) and the The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) is absolutely necessary if we are to remain a free and a sovereign nation.
Please seek our Lord as to how YOU will respond, and then . . . obey Him!

"Your people will volunteer freely in the day of Your power . . . "
