1. No end in sight for latest Israeli-Palestinian violence, raising fears of uprising - Fox News

JERUSALEM - For nearly a month, Israel has been dealing with a wave of Palestinian unrest that shows no signs of stopping. Beginning with clashes at a sensitive Jerusalem holy site, the violence has spread throughout the city, across Israel and into the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Since the Jewish New Year last month, five Israelis have been killed in a shooting, a stoning and a series of stabbings. At least 26 Palestinians been killed by Israeli fire, including 10 identified by Israel as attackers and the rest in clashes between stone-throwers and Israeli troops. Hundreds of Palestinians have been wounded in such confrontations.

2. Mutual Fear of Attacks Divides Israel Further - Bloomberg View

In Israel, the university academic year is about to begin, now that the Jewish holidays are past. New students and faculty are making their way to campus, and learning their way around.

Shalem College, where I work, is in a quiet, mostly residential neighborhood in south Jerusalem. A couple of days ago, one of the new Arabic language instructors, a Muslim woman from a different area of Jerusalem, requested a parking space in a usually off-limits area that is protected by security. None of the other faculty members park there, so someone from human resources asked her why. The instructor said she was afraid: The college is in a Jewish part of town, and if she parked in the regular parking, she feared that she would be attacked by Jews.

Had she known the neighborhood and the campus better, she might have known that there was nothing to worry about. Her fear is nonetheless significant. Unlike the First and Second Intifadas, it is not only Jews who are scared now -- everyone is on edge.

3. Watch: Hamas Terrorists With Assault Rifles in the Capital -Israel National News

As Arab terrorism grows in Jerusalem, even reaching the western gates of the capital city, a chilling new video uploaded on Monday bears stark testimony to the presence of Hamas terrorists with semi-automatic assault rifles in the northeastern neighborhood of Shuafat.

The video shows three Hamas terrorists in full regalia replete with scarf masks and green Hamas headbands. As one reads from a script over a microphone, the other two stand menacingly, one bearing a Kalashnikov rifle and the other an M-16.

4. Security escalation hits Jerusalem businesses hard -Israel Hayom

The recent surge in Palestinian terrorism has hit business owners in Jerusalem. Deterred by the ongoing attacks, especially in Jerusalem, the number of tourists visiting the city has dropped significantly, leading to a drastic decline in revenues.

"The ongoing situation has dealt a fatal blow to business owners," the head of the Jerusalem City Center Merchants Association, Eli Levi, told Israel Hayom on Sunday. Levi is the owner of the Eldad Vezehoo restaurant, a long-standing Jerusalem institution.

5. Yemenite Jewish Refugee: Jews Were Ordered to Convert or Leave - Israel National News

A Jewish refugee from Yemen who arrived in Israel just a few days ago tells that the government of Yemen recently issued a foreboding proclamation to all Jews in the country: "Either get out of Yemen, or convert to Islam."

The information was related by the refugee to Israel's Deputy Minister of Regional Cooperation, Likud MK Ayoub Kara. Kara reported the news to The Algemeiner on Sunday.

The newly-arrived refugee was able to leave Yemen and arrive in Israel by disguising himself as a Muslim. He left just a few days ago, Kara said, and traveled through Saudi Arabia and then Jordan before entering Israel.

7. Palestinian Terror on Facebook, Despite Complaints - Algemeiner

Pro-Israel blogger Elder of Ziyon, who serves as a watchdog for antisemitic and anti-Zionist activity on social media, this week uncovered two cases of U.N.-employed teachers posting artwork "romanticizing the wave of stabbings by Arabs of Jews in Israel recently."

In the first instance, highlighted by Elder on Sunday, Lebanese teacher Hiba M. Miari, who apparently is an instructor for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), as well as for Beirut Arab University, updated her cover image to include a cartoon of a man in typical Palestinian demonstrator garb - a plain, long-sleeved shirt and black-and-white Yasser Arafat keffiyeh worn as a balaclava - strumming a serrated knife as if it were a violin with an elongated antique key.

The Daily Brief

1. ISIS to Execute 180 Assyrian Christians After Negotiations Break Down - Christian Post

The Islamic State terror group claims it will be executing 180 Assyrian Christians who were kidnapped in mass raids in February, after negotiators failed to meet the jihadists' high asking price to free the hostages. ARA News reported on Monday that the terror group is asking for $12 million for the release of the Assyrians, a sum deemed "unbearable" for the community.

-Ah Lord God, we cry out to You for mercy for our Christian brothers and sisters. Abba, we pray that You will allow all things to come into place that these may live and not die if that is Your will. Be with our brothers and sisters and strengthen them. In His Name we pray, Amen

-And the peace of God, which surpasses all[d]comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7) - "And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death." (Revelation 12:11)

2. Mortar Shells Strike Near Russian Embassy in Syria

BEIRUT, Lebanon - Two mortar shells struck the grounds of the Russian Embassy in Damascus, the Syrian capital, on Tuesday, an attack that Russia's foreign minister called "an act of terrorism."

The explosions, reported by Russian state news media and journalists on the scene, came as crowds of Syrians gathered at the embassy in a show of support for Russia's new campaign of airstrikes on behalf of the Syrian government. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

- Abba Father, You alone understand the things of the middle east. You alone are Lord. We ask for mercy for the Syrian people. This is a time of great turmoil and the addition of the Russians have only added to the turmoil. Have mercy O Lord. In His Name we pray, Amen.

-Damascus has become helpless; She has turned away to flee, And panic has gripped her; Distress and pangs have taken hold of her Like a woman in childbirth. (Jeremiah 49:24)

3. Putin Says Russia's Campaign in Syria More Effective Than U.S. - Bloomberg

Russian President Vladimir Putin defended his air and cruise-missile strikes on terror targets in Syria as two Saudi Arabian officials softened their government's position on the fate of Bashar al-Assad.

Putin discussed his Syria campaign on Sunday with Saudi Arabia's Defense Minister Mohammed Bin Salman, who signaled a willingness to let al-Assad remain in power longer, while the foreign ministers of both nations also met to consider the situation in Syria.

Putin's bombing campaign to support his ally Assad took the U.S. and NATO by surprise and overshadowed a flurry of diplomacy over how to tackle the conflict. As Russia builds up its military presence in Assad's stronghold on the eastern Mediterranean Sea, U.S. President Barack Obama dismissed any notion that his leadership on the world stage was being challenged.

- Abba Father, the Russians have outsmarted President Obama. They have gone in from a position of strength and according to them, legitimacy. They have been effective in bringing together Saudi Arabia, the Arab Emirates, and Iran to defeat Syria's enemies and ISIS. We pray that they succeed. We ask that you would protect our military. We also pray that no one will do anything foolish that will start WWIII. In His Name we pray. Amen

-"He breaks through me with breach after breach; He runs at me like a warrior. (Job 16:14) (Putin) "Far be it from You to do such a thing, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous and the wicked are treated alike. Far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth deal justly?" (Genesis 18:25)

4. US believes ISIS leader al-Baghdadi still alive, despite Iraqi airstrike claim - Fox News

U.S. military officials believe that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State group (ISIS), is still alive, despite claims by the Iraqi military Sunday that its air force struck a convoy carrying the terror leader.

A statement Sunday said "the Iraqi air force carried out a heroic operation targeting the convoy of the criminal terrorist Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi" as he made his way to a meeting in the town of Karablah, in Iraq's western Anbar province. The statement says al-Baghdadi's fate and whereabouts are not known.

A U.S. military source told Fox News that al-Baghdadi did not appear to have been hit in the airstrike. Another U.S. official told Fox News that Iraqi officials were collecting DNA from the scene of the strikes. (Read more)

- Abba Father, we give You glory and praise. We hear that al-Baghdadi may have been wounded as reports from different sources say that some of his body guards were found dead at the scene of the battle. We pray that the evil this man has brought to the middle east will come to an end through his demise. In His Name we pray, Amen

-O Lord, God of vengeance, God of vengeance, shine forth! Rise up, O Judge of the earth, Render recompense to the proud. How long shall the wicked, O Lord, How long shall the wicked exult? They pour forth words, they speak arrogantly; All who do wickedness vaunt themselves. They crush Your people, O Lord, And afflict Your heritage. They slay the widow and the stranger And murder the orphans. They have said, "The Lord does not see, Nor does the God of Jacob pay heed." (Psalm 94:1-7)

5. House Committee Passes Resolution on Safety of Jewish Communities in Europe - CNSNews.com

Citing a dramatic increase in the number of anti-Semitic acts in Europe in recent years, the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee unanimously passed a resolution on Friday "regarding the safety and security of Jewish communities in Europe." The resolution was introduced by Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.), who chairs the House Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, and Human Rights.

"This resolution is a blueprint for actions that are critical to prevent more deadly attacks on Europe's Jewish communities," he said in a statement. "Formal recognition and partnerships between governments and Jewish community groups are key, as we see here in the United States, the United Kingdom, and France. The resolution also highlights the need for research, training, resources, public awareness campaigns, and communication as part of the fight against anti-Semitic violence," Smith said. "If our government encourages and works with our European allies to do these things, it will help save lives," he added. (Read more)

- Abba Father, the ugly head of Anti-Semitism is rising again in Europe. Abba, we ask that You would take note that our Government has risen to stand with Jews in Europe. May this resolution be written in the Book of Life with all our names. Abba, in the Name of Jesus Christ, we bind the spirit of Anti-Semitism with cords that cannot be broken and we silence its voice that it may never rise again during our generation. In His Name we pray, Amen.

"Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven." (Matthew 18:18)

Our Grandmothers' Songs

Songs Our Grandmothers Sang:

I AM THINE, O LORD (Draw Me Nearer)

"Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water." (Hebrews 10:22)

Lyrics

I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice, And it told Thy love to me; But I long to rise in the arms of faith, And be closer drawn to Thee.

Refrain

Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord, By the pow'r of grace divine; Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope, And my will be lost in Thine.

Refrain

O the pure delight of a single hour That before Thy throne I spend, When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God, I commune as friend with friend!

Refrain

There are depths of love that I yet may know Ere Thee face to face I see; There are heights of joy that I yet may reach Ere I rest in peace with Thee.

Refrain

Music: W. Howard Doane

About the Hymn:

Fanny Crosby was visiting Mr. W. H. Doane, in his home in Cincinnati, Ohio. They were talking together about the nearness of God, as the sun was setting and evening shadows were gathering around them. The subject so impressed the well-known hymn-writer, that before retiring she had written the words to this hymn, which has become one of the most useful she has ever written. The music by Mr. Doane so well fitted the words that the hymn has become a special favorite wherever the Gospel Hymns are known.

Signs and Wonders

October 2015 El Niño update

This El Niño continues to rank among the strongest in our records, which start in 1950. The July-September 3-month average sea surface temperature (the ONI) was 1.5°C above normal, third in line behind July-September 1987 (1.6°C) and 1997 (1.7°C). The atmospheric response to the warmer-than-average sea surface temperatures is keeping pace, too: the Equatorial Southern Oscillation Index (EQSOI) is -2.2. This is second to 1997's -2.6, and well ahead of the next two El Niños on the list (1972 and 1982, tied at -1.4). (Climate.gov) Read more.

"There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea." (Luke 21:25)

The Good News Corner

God Is Present in the Aftermath of Roseburg Shooting

(ANS - October 12, 2015) - On October first I was driving around Tualatin, Oregon, and I nonchalantly turned on the radio. I heard the horrific news that a gunman had gone on a shooting rampage in a writing class at Umpqua Community College, killing nine and shooting nine others.

Immediately I remembered my own experience surviving a terrorist bombing on TWA Flight 840 back in 1986, how helpless I felt, and how grateful I was that God allowed me to live though other people died.

I felt the Lord instructed me to go to Roseburg and help in whatever way I could. I have to admit that it was with some nervousness that I headed 180 miles south.

Worship With Us Today!

Psalm 91 - Sonicflood

You are the defender of the weak
You are near those in need
You are a peace to those who grieve
My God you are so many things

You are my refuge and strength
You are my hiding place
You hear my voice when I call
Before I say anything at all
In desperate need I cry
Only to realize
The hand that heals the sick
Has my name written on it

You are the forgiver of my past
You are the pure and spotless lamb
You are the balm that heals the wounds I have
My God You are so many things
