'After I turned away [from You], I repented; After I was instructed, I struck my thigh [in remorse]; I was ashamed and even humiliated Because I carried the disgrace of my youth [as a nation].' (Jer. 31:19 AMP)

Responding to Paris' Terrorism

RESPONDING TO PARIS' TERRORISM:

THE NEXT GENEVIEVE IN FRANCE

As we begin to process the grief for the nearly 500 killed or wounded in the terrorist attacks in Paris on November 13, a call to find solutions inevitably begins to surface.

There will be no shortage of words and occasional ideas from various politicians. But purely man-made solutions will continue to fall short. This is a spiritual battle, Ephesians 6:12, requiring spiritual solutions from the Living God.

Instead of looking to man's solutions, Scripture and our indwelling Holy Spirit point us to look to the Living God for His supernatural solutions. Psalm 108: 12-13 says: "Give us help from trouble, For the help of man is useless. Through God we will do valiantly, For it is He who shall tread down our enemies."

In his remarks responding to the Islamic terrorism, President Hollande declared "an act of war without mercy" and said the attacks had been organized from abroad with internal help by Islamic State "barbarians."

That's a key word. Barbarians threatened Paris 1,554 years ago. In 461 A.D. Attila the Hun and his horde of barbarians were approaching Paris, which was then basically defenseless. In prayer, one woman of God, Genevieve, prayed to the Lord and received His Wisdom through the Holy Spirit. The Lord gave her His strategy to stop the barbarians using spiritual warfare.

In humility, with faith in the Lord, she began a prayer vigil, a prayer marathon, inviting others to join her. God responded supernaturally to "tread down enemies" (Psalm 108:13). Attila's Huns were diverted. Paris was saved. Today Genevieve is venerated as the patron saint of Paris every January 2.
The Holy Spirit of Yeshua is the same yesterday, today and forever. We have forgotten to call upon Him. Our national leaders repeatedly fail to consult His Wisdom found in His Holy Word. As in every other nation on the planet, it's time for the once Godly roots found in France to be replenished through prayer, fasting and repentance.

His hearing from heaven, forgiving sin and healing the land can only occur when you and I, His People called by His Name, humble ourselves and pray and seek His face and turn from, really repent, from our human ways that fall short of His Way. Thanks to Yeshua's Blood on the Cross and His resurrection we believers are a royal priesthood in His eyes. In His love, He calls us to be zealous to repent, to follow His path of purity, to be holy as He is holy. Then He can heal our lands, defeating all enemies.

In putting forward the prayer marathon as a spiritual weapon to trigger God's action to tread down enemies it's possible that Genevieve drew upon the experience of Jehoshaphat over 1,300 year earlier in Jerusalem. You know the story from 2 Chronicles 20:6-17, when the enemies of Judah, the Moabites and the Ammonites, gathered near Jerusalem. Fighting off fear Jehoshaphat "set himself to seek the Lord." Like Genevieve 1,300 years later, he then received the Wisdom of the Holy Spirit. In that case the Lord told him to proclaim a fast and call a sacred assembly. In his prayer the king--- in contrast to secular leaders of our nations today---- then called upon the Lord, in full dependence upon Him.
Whether it's a prayer marathon, weeks of fasting, 24/7 worship, calling a sacred assembly, days of repentance: obedience to the Lord's Wisdom in spiritual warfare will always lead to His victory over evil. His ways are higher than our ways. He's waiting to go to battle on our behalf. In many nations the spirit of death and the anti-Christ spirit have gained ground recently. France opened herself spiritually to this terrorist attack by recent policies opposing Israel; France will need to support Israel -- not oppose that nation which is the Apple of His eye.
Thank God there are "Genevieves" in every nation, including many reading this article. May many "Genevieves" come forward not just in France but in every other nation on this planet to listen to the Lord's Wisdom and apply it to take on and to defeat the enemy's strategies, thereby rendering him powerless against God's people.

In Yeshua's Holy Name, we will give Him all the glory for His Victory. Amen.

GOD SENDS A SIGN OF LIFE IN THE SKIES OVER ISRAEL

Amazing. Above Israel, "Chai" shines -- the Hebrew symbol of life!

1. Dozens of French Jews immigrate to Israel after Paris attacks - Times of Israel

Some 40 French Jews landed at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport Monday, joining six more individuals who made aliyah on Sunday, as the first immigrants following Friday's terrorist attacks in Paris that killed at least 129 people and wounded hundreds more, a Jewish Agency spokesman said.

According to Avi Mayer, the Jewish Agency's Spokesman to the International Media, dozens more immigrants are expected to arrive in Israel with the assistance of the Agency over the course of the week.

"After the attacks, people tried not to leave their homes - it was scary," said Daniel Ventura, who arrived in Israel with his wife and two young girls, according to a press release by the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, which also assisted in bringing some of the Jewish immigrants. "For two years we've lived with insecurity and wanted to make aliyah. I would not want my children to live, learn and get married in France."

2. Danon demands condemnation of Palestinian Red Crescent - Israel National News

Israel's UN ambassador, Danny Danon, on Monday wrote to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, demanding a condemnation of the Palestinian Red Crescent, following the revelation that the organization's ambulance was at the scene of the shooting attack near Hevron on Friday but the paramedics did not treat the wounded Israelis.

"An ambulance that doesn't assist wounded civilians is a terrorist collaborator. This is a blatant disregard for all universal moral values; and blatant disregard for human life," Danon wrote Ban.

In the letter, Danon pointed out that the fact that an ambulance of the Palestinian Red Crescent failed to treat the wounded Israelis is a flagrant violation of international law.

"This is a blatant disregard for the moral commitment of the organization to any wounded person everywhere," he wrote.

3. Palestinian official says Gaza border deal is reached with Egypt to bypass Hamas - US News

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) - A senior Palestinian official on Monday said the Palestinian Authority has reached an agreement with Egypt to reopen the Gaza Strip's main border crossing in an arrangement meant to bypass the territory's Hamas rulers.

Azzam al-Ahmad, an aide to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, said the deal was reached recently in Cairo. He said it aims to open the Rafah crossing "to the maximum possible" to allow the movement of students, laborers, medical patients and even commercial goods.

Such a deal could bring great relief to Gaza, whose borders are largely sealed by an Israeli and Egyptian blockade. It could also mark a setback for Hamas, which seized control of Gaza from Abbas in 2007. However, a top Hamas official gave the plan a cool reception, raising questions about its viability.

Former Foreign Ministry official Yael Ronen and current Justice Ministry official Gilad Noam on Tuesday intensely debated whether a State of Palestine could already exist even if it was achieved without following proper statehood processes.

The Hebrew University conference on the law of armed conflict was organized by the university's Minerva Center and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Headlining the conference was Charles Allen, a top US Department of Defense official on the laws of war, and the architect of the department's manual on those laws.

5. Israel outlaws northern branch of Islamic Movement - Jerusalem Post

Israel has resolved to outlaw a domestic Islamist movement with ties to Hamas and the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, according to a press release distributed early Tuesday morning by the Prime Minister's Office.

The government says that it has declared the northern branch of the Islamic Movement "an illegal organization."

"The practical significance of this decision is that any entity or individual belonging to the group from hereon out and any individual who grants this organization services or operates under its auspices will have violated a criminal statute and is subject to imprisonment," the government statement read.

The northern branch of the Islamic Movement is led by Sheikh Raed Salah, who has been convicted in court of numerous subversive activities, including funding Hamas, contacting an Iranian agent, assaulting a police officer, and leading a violent protest.

ANKARA - Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday gave Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu the mandate to form a new government after a snap election just over three weeks ago saw the ruling AK Party win back its majority in parliament.

Davutoglu met Erdogan at the presidential palace, according to a statement from the presidency. Davutoglu is expected to name his ministers on Wednesday or Thursday, with the new cabinet likely to be packed with Erdogan loyalists. The prime minister is, however, expected to keep control over the closely watched economic team.

1. France, Russia pummel ISIS stronghold as critics blast US rules of engagement - Fox News

In the wake of Friday's deadly terror attack in Paris and the confirmed bombing of a Russian airliner, Russia and France are pounding the Islamic State's Syrian stronghold of Raqqa as, while the number of U.S. airstrikes against ISIS still dwarves all others combined, America appears to be in a slap fight while others are punching hard, say military experts.

U.S. rules of engagement and the overarching desire to minimize collateral damage are holding back the true force of U.S. air power, while Paris and Moscow have taken off the gloves following the bombing of a Russian airliner and Friday's horrific attacks in the French capital, according to one retired four-star general.

"Our air campaign in Syria and Iraq has never been what it should be," said Gen. Jack Keane, former vice chief of staff of the U.S. Army and a Fox News contributor. "We've had incredible restrictions on what we call rules of engagement so, as a result, it takes layers to get approval for a target, it takes too much time, the enemy gets away on us, we're not really going after the right targets." (Read more)

- Abba Father, the hordes of hell otherwise known as ISIS have attacked Paris, and are trying to attack other European capitals. Abba, we ask that President Obama get out of the way and allow our Military to make the decisions necessary to defeat ISIS and win the war against radical Islamic jihadists. Open his eyes as he sees France and Russia attack Raqqa, and let him understand that this is war not a tea party. In His Name we pray, Amen.

- "The eternal God is a dwelling place, And underneath are the everlasting arms; And He drove out the enemy from before you, And said, 'Destroy!' (Exodus 33:27)

2. Russia fires missiles from Mediterranean on targets in ISIS stronghold Raqqa - rt.com

The Russian military has launched airstrikes against the Islamic State stronghold of Raqqa in Syria with cruise missiles from the Mediterranean Sea, France's Le Monde newspaper said, citing a French official. The information that Russia has struck Islamic State positions in Raqqa has been also reported by a senior French government source, cited by Reuters.

A US official told Reuters that Moscow has conducted a significant number of strikes in Syria using both sea-launched cruise missiles and long-range bombers. (Read more)

- Abba Father, we thank You for the way that Russia goes after the radical Islamic jihadist state capital. We pray that they will be successful in wiping the Caliphate off the map of the world. We pray that our President will learn by their example. In Your Name we pray, Amen.

- "Your right hand, OLORD, is majestic in power, Your right hand, O LORD, shatters the enemy." (Exodus 16:15)

3. Another disaster averted? German soccer stadium evacuated after bomb plot uncovered - Fox News

A German soccer stadium and concert arena were evacuated less than two hours before a friendly match between Germany and the Netherlands Tuesday after police uncovered a "concrete" bomb threat. It happened just four days after the Paris attacks that targeted a stadium and several restaurants, killing more than 120 people Friday.

"We had concrete evidence that someone wanted to set off an explosive device in the stadium," Hannover police chief Volker Kluwe told German TV. Referring to another bomb threat about an hour beforehand that turned out to be a false alarm, Kluwe said, "After the first object turned out to be harmless, we got a tip that had to be taken seriously that an attack was being planned." - Abba Father, we thank You for wise security officials who want to bebetter safe than sorry. We thank You for all the warnings that You are sending to save Your people and defeat the radical Islamic terrorists. In His Name we pray, Amen.

4. Two Air France Flights to Paris Diverted After Bomb Threats - NBC News

An Air France jet from Los Angeles International Airport landed in Salt Lake City, and another flight from Washington Dulles International Airport near Washington, D.C., landed in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Air France said.

The flights were "subjects of anonymous threats received by phone after takeoff," Air France spokesperson Christophe Paumier said.

Air France said it requested the planes land as a precaution. "Local authorities are carrying out complete inspections of the aircraft, the passengers and their luggage," the airline said. (Read more)

- Lord God, once again we praise You for the quick action demonstrated by these security personnel last night. Thank You, Lord, in Your name, amen.

- "Praise the Lord!" (Psalm 150:6)

5. Top Dem breaks with Obama on ISIS being 'contained' - Fox News

A top Senate Democrat broke with President Obama on his assessment of the Islamic State's strength, saying in the wake of the Paris attacks that the terror network certainly is not "contained." "I read the intelligence faithfully. ISIL is not contained. ISIL is expanding," Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., told MSNBC on Monday.

The top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee weighed in as Obama continued to defend his assessment. He has come under criticism for saying in an interview aired Friday, shortly before the Paris attacks, that ISIS is "contained" and hasn't gained ground in Iraq and Syria. The president defended his remarks during a combative press conference in Turkey on Monday, on the sidelines of the G20 meeting. "Both in Iraq and Syria, ISIL controls less territory than it did before," Obama said.

But, pointing to their ambitions to attack outside the Middle East, Feinstein said she's "never been more concerned" about the threat. "They just put out a video saying it is their intent to attack this country. And I think we have to be prepared," Feinstein added, saying the only way to diminish the group "is by taking them out." (Read more)

- Abba, we thank You for the wisdom that You have given Sen. Feinstein and the boldness to say it the way it is. We pray that more Democrats break rank with President Obama and his non-strategy to defeat ISIS. We pray that You would remove the veil from his eyes and the fog over his mind so that he would understand the situation as it is with ISIS. Please help him to allow our Military to run this war so that ISIS can be defeated and there is peace in the Middle East. In His Name we pray, Amen.

- "The kings of the earth did not believe, Nor did any of the inhabitants of the world, That the adversary and the enemy Could enter the gates of Jerusalem." (Lamentations 4:12)

6. Hill Republicans move to 'pause' Syrian refugee effort, with states having limited say - Fox News

Most U.S. governors have made clear they don't want Syrian refugees in their states after the deadly Paris terror attacks, but only Congress appears to have the authority to stop President Obama's plan. And Capitol Hill lawmakers are moving swiftly.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and House Speaker Paul Ryan on Tuesday both called for a "pause" in the administration's refugee plan, which includes resettling 10,000 Syrian civil war refugees through 2016. "Right in front of us is a refugee situation that requires a pause," Ryan, R-Wis., said on Capitol Hill. "Our nation has always been welcoming, but we cannot let terrorists take advantage. This is about national security." He gave no specific details but said a task force is working on legislation, adding: "It's better to be safe than to be sorry." (Read more)

- Abba Father, we thank You that You have given wisdom to Senator McConnell and Speaker Ryan. Thank You that they are protecting the citizens of our country from radical Islamic terrorists i.e.. ISIS. Abba, we ask that President Obama's administration stop lying about being able to vet these refugees. There are no databases against which to vet these refugees.

Also, give them wisdom Lord in caring for the refugees who are also fleeing radical Islamic terrorist. We pray that the United States along with other countries around the world send goods and money to keep these refugees in the Middle East. We pray that the ramp up of bombings in Syria will defeat ISIS and that these people will not have to leave their homes. We pray for wisdom in the removal of President Bashar Assad. O Lord we need Your hand of guidance in all of this because no one understands this situation better than You. In His Name we pray, Amen.

- "But if you truly obey his voice and do all that I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries." (Exodus 23:22)

7. So Far: Syrian Refugees in U.S. Include 2,098 Muslims, 53 Christians - CNSNews.com

President Obama said Monday that calls from some quarters for the U.S. to admit only Christian refugees from Syria were "shameful," yet the reality is that today's refugee system discriminates, not against Syrian Muslims, but against Christians and other non-Muslim minorities.

Critics say this is because the federal government relies on the United Nations in the refugee application process - and since Syrian Christians are often afraid to register with the U.N., they and other non-Muslims are left out.

Fleeing persecution at the hands of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and other jihadist groups, Syrian Christians generally avoid U.N. refugee camps because they are targeted there too. (Read more)

- Lord God, we thank You that it is written that "the truth shall set you free." We can see clearly by these statistics, as well as on the map on the original article, that our policy has been totally biased against bringing in refugees who are Christians, and instead welcoming mostly those who are Moslem. Help us, O Lord. Let our leaders grasp this information, and move quickly to right this wrong. We ask this in Your name, amen.

- (Pray for all in authority: I Timothy 2:1-4)

8. Russia: Bomb caused plane crash in Sinai - YnetNews

President Putin vows revenge for terror attack, with Russia launching heavy airstrikes over Islamic State 'capital' Raqqa; in Egypt, two airport employees arrested on suspicion they helped plant bomb.

A homemade explosive device brought down a Russian passenger plane over Egypt last month, the head of Russia's FSB security service said Tuesday, telling Russian President Vladimir Putin it's now clear the bombing that killed 224 people was a "terrorist" act. The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for downing the Russian plane in written statements, as well as video and audio messages posted on the Internet following the crash.

"According to our experts, a homemade explosive device equivalent to one kilogram of TNT went off onboard, which caused the plane to break up in the air, which explains why the fuselage was scattered over such a large territory. I can certainly say that this was a terrorist act," FSB head Alexander Bortnikov said. (Read more)

- Abba Father, ISIS has awakened a sleeping giant. We pray that the combined angry air power of Russia and France along with the EU's air power will defeat ISIS. We pray that the EU will return to their Savior Jesus Christ, and that Christianity will once again rule in the EU. We pray that these dastardly deeds done by radical Islamic terrorists will cause Moslems around the world to revolt, that they flee Islam, and that they will come to know that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior. In Your Name we pray, Amen.

- "You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews." (John 4:22)

9. ISIS drone threats prompt closure of Rome's air space - Israel National News

Italy's Interior Minister announced Monday that air space over Rome will be closed to drones throughout the Roman Catholic Holy Year celebrations beginning next month, due to a fear that the Islamic State (ISIS) could attack the Italian capital with drones during the celebrations.

Addressing the Italian parliament and quoted by Reuters, Minister Angelino Alfano said drones will be banned from air space over the centre of Rome throughout the Holy Year, or "Jubilee", that begins on December 8 and is expected to draw millions of tourists to the Italian capital. (Read more)

- Father God, again we thank You for the wisdom being shown by the authorities in Rome, who are seeking to keep their citizens and all visitors safe. We ask that no more lives be lost now at the hands of ISIS terrorists, in Jesus' name, amen and amen.

- " . . . to GOD the Lord belong escapes from death." (Psalm 68:20)

10. Heavy snow and blizzard conditions engulf parts of Colorado and Kansas - Washington Post

A strong, wintry storm - the second in less than a week - is dumping over a foot of snow on parts of eastern Colorado and western Kansas on Tuesday, and slinging strong wind gusts up to 65 mph.

A blizzard warning remains in effect for parts of eastern Colorado, western Kansas and southwest Nebraska. . . The National Weather Service expects snow totals to reach 18 inches in the heaviest bands, along with wind gusts up to 65 mph. (Read more)

- Father God, first we ask that You would keep all who are in the path of this dangerous storm system safe now and in the days ahead. And Lord God, we know that this is only the first of a series of storms that are due to hit our nation over these coming winter months. We ask for Your hand of mercy to rest upon our people, that we might all survive this season intact. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.

- "For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations." (Psalm 100:5)

11. Pope talks end times, terror in Paris - WND

Pope Francis struck a somber note with his most recent message to pilgrims at Saint Peter's Square, telling the ten thousand or so gathered to consider their lives, their coming face-to-face with God and the state of the world, particularly in light of the Paris terrorist attacks.

He first expressed his "deep sorrow for the terrorist attacks that bloodied France late on Friday, causing many casualties," Breitbart reported. He then called the attacks "an unspeakable affront to human dignity" that shocked the world. "Such barbarity leaves us shocked and we wonder how the human heart can conceive and carry out such horrible events, which have shaken not only France but the whole world," the pope said.

He also denounced the radical Islamists' use of God's name to justify the attacks as "blasphemy," he said, and reminded of Jesus' preaching about the end times and the coming "apocalyptic elements, like war, famine and cosmic catastrophes," he said, Breitbart reported.

"In those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light and the stars will be falling from the sky and the powers in the heavens will be shaken," he said. "Our final goal is the meeting with the resurrected Lord. . . [And in the end] Jesus' triumph will be the triumph of the cross, the demonstration that the sacrifice of oneself out of love for one's neighbor, in imitation of Christ, is the only victorious power and the only stable point in the midst of the upheavals and tragedies of the world."(Read more)

- Precious Lord, we are grateful for the Pope's call for more serious consideration of the words of our Lord concerning the end times and the turmoil just before His Second Coming. We pray that mankind, across the world, will turn to Your Son for salvation and a sure place in heaven as we see the world being shaken. Thank You that Jesus died to take our sins away and for the comfort of the Holy Spirit in these last days. We offer this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ, amen and amen.

- "The servants who are ready and waiting for his return will be rewarded. I tell you the truth, he himself will seat them, put on an apron, and serve them as they sit and eat." (Luke 12:37)

White House stonewalls governors on Islamic refugees

Bloomberg reports that the White House held a conference call Tuesday night with about a dozen governors in which the governors were told that they must comply with the Syrian refugee resettlement program irrespective of their positions. Bloomberg reports that the governors were disgruntled with the responses. A White House readout of the concall, however, said there were 34 governors on the call and, "Several Governors expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to better understand the process and have their issues addressed directly by representatives of the agencies responsible for the refugee and screening programs." See how the truth is twisted by propaganda? But wait, there's more.

The White House statement says, "White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough led the call and was joined by Alejandro Mayorkas, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security; Simon Henshaw, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Department of State's Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration; Mark Giuliano, Deputy Director of the FBI; and representatives from the National Counterterrorism Center and the Department of Health and Human Services...The officials briefed the governors on the rigorous screening and security vetting process that is required before a refugee is able to travel to the United States. Thirteen governors asked questions."

The Bloomberg account has a totally different viewpoint: "On the call several Republican governors and two Democrats -- New Hampshire's Maggie Hassan and California's Jerry Brown -- repeatedly pressed administration officials to share more information about Syrian refugees entering the United States. The governors wanted notifications whenever refugees were resettled in their states, as well as access to classified information collected when the refugees were vetted. "There was a real sense of frustration from all the governors that there is just a complete lack of transparency and communication coming from the federal government," said one GOP state official who was on the call."

Moreover, the White is refusing to allow the states to opt out of the "president's" Islamic colonization program. Bloomberg reports that Florida governor Rick Scott "asked McDonough point blank if states could opt out of accepting refugees from Syria." McDonough answered "no." The White house said that the US accepts more refugees because it employs "the most rigorous screening and security vetting of any category of traveler to the United States." The governors weren't buying it. Neither should you. The White House is complicit in Islamic colonization of America. It needs to be stopped for every citizen's self defense. 2 Timothy 3:13 says, "But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived." And as Christ said in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." It is waxing worse and worse.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Ted Cruz Explains Why US Should Only Accept Christian Refugees: 'There Is No Meaningful Risk Of Christian Terror'

Republican Presidential candidate Ted Cruz has said the United States should refuse to accept any Muslim refugees from Syria but allow in Christians, explaining that "there is no meaningful risk of Christians committing acts of terror."

"If there were a group of radical Christians pledging to murder anyone who had a different religious view than they, we would have a different national security situation," the Texas Senator said at an event in South Carolina on Sunday, CBS News reports.

"We can't roll the dice with the safety of Americans and bring in people for whom there is an unacceptable risk that they could be jihadists coming here to kill Americans," he said, explaining that those in the Obama administration "pretend there is no religious aspect to this." JESUS SHALL REIGN

"He will rule from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth." (Psalm 72:8)

Lyrics

Jesus shall reign where'er the sun Does his successive journeys run; His kingdom stretch from shore to shore, Till moons shall wax and wane no more.

Behold the islands with their kings, And Europe her best tribute brings; From north to south the princes meet, To pay their homage at His feet.

There Persia, glorious to behold, There India shines in eastern gold; And barb'rous nations at His word Submit, and bow, and own their Lord.

To Him shall endless prayer be made, And praises throng to crown His head; His Name like sweet perfume shall rise With every morning sacrifice.

People and realms of every tongue Dwell on His love with sweetest song; And infant voices shall proclaim Their early blessings on His Name.

Blessings abound wherever He reigns; The prisoner leaps to lose his chains; The weary find eternal rest, And all the sons of want are blessed.

The heathen lands, that lie beneath The shades of overspreading death, Revive at His first dawning light; And deserts blossom at the sight.

The saints shall flourish in His days, Dressed in the robes of joy and praise; Peace, like a river, from His throne Shall flow to nations yet unknown. > > > To read all remaining stanzas, please go here.

About this Hymn:

Perhaps one of the most interesting occasions on which this hymn was used was that on which King George, the sable, of the South Sea Islands, but of blessed memory, gave a new constitution to his people, exchanging a heathen for a Christian form of government. Under the spreading branches of the banyan trees sat some thousand natives from Tonga, Fiji, and Samoa, on Whitsunday, 1862, assembled for Divine worship. Foremost amongst them all sat King George himself. Around him were seated old chiefs and warriors who had shared with him the dangers and fortunes of many a battle-men whose eyes were dim, and whose powerful frames were bowed down with the weight of years. But old and young alike rejoiced together in the joys of that day, their faces most of them radiant with Christian joy, love, and hope. It would be impossible to describe the deep feeling manifested when the solemn service began, by the entire audience singing Dr. Watts' hymn . . .

Who so much as they could realize the full meaning of the poet's words? For they had been rescued from the darkness of heathenism and cannibalism and they were that day met for the first time under a Christian constitution, under a Christian king, and with Christ Himself reigning in the hearts of most of those present. That was indeed Christ's kingdom set up in the earth.
