The Daily Brief:
"Praying for All in Authority"
Wednesday, January 27, 2016

"Fire and hail, snow and clouds; Stormy wind, fulfilling His word; Kings of the earth and all peoples; Princes and all judges of the earth; Let them praise the name of the LORD, For His name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and heaven." (Job 148: 8, 11,13)

"When the whirlwind (blizzard) passes by, the wicked is no more, but the righteous has an everlasting foundation." (Proverbs 10:25)
The Middle East in Focus

"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you." (Isaiah 54:10)

1. IDF preparing for possible war on northern, Gaza borders - YNET News

According to IDF estimations, the likelihood of Israel initiating a war in the next year remains low, both due to the turmoil in the Middle East which is keeping many of Israel's enemies busy, and because of Israel's current deterrence abilities. Even so, the likelihood of a severe incident leading to an escalation and even a war has increased, and is being described by the IDF as "moderate." This is due to the tension along Israel's borders, especially the ones in the north and near the Gaza Strip.

Even so, Israel believes that Hezbollah and Hamas, as well as other jihadist organizations near the border - some of whom are as close as several hundred meters away from reaching Israeli school buses in the Golan Heights - are deterred by the IDF, which is considered an "aggressive and unpredictable" player.

These estimates are in line with IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot's comments from last week, marking Hezbollah as the primary threat to Israel.

The IDF believes that a war in the north could include, in addition to missile fire, hostage taking by the enemy and damage to naval vessels.(Read More)

2. Netanyahu accuses Ban Ki-moon of 'encouraging terror' - Israel National News

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has strongly condemned remarks made by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, in which the UN chief expressed sympathy for Palestinian terrorist attacks.

At a special United Nations Security Council session, Ban condemned the presence of Jews in Judea and Samaria, while justifying murderous attacks against Israelis as a result of "Palestinian frustration."

"The UN Secretary-General's words give encouragement to terror," Netanyahu fired in response. (Read More)

3. Palestinian media spurring wave of terror - YNET News

Hamas' popular television channel Al Aqsa, which broadcasts to every home in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, has been devoting nearly all of its air time over the past four months to encouraging attacks and keeping the flame of the current terror wave burning.

Interviews with relatives of terrorists are a daily occurrence. "I am the mother of the heroic martyr Muataz Qasim, who was killed in an heroic act near the village of Jaba," the mother of one terrorist told the channel. "Muataz was a kind, young, handsome man, who never hurt anyone and always loved the al-Aqsa Mosque. In fact, his favorite thing in the world was the al-Aqsa Mosque."

To complete the picture, the heads of the station, based in the Gaza Strip, set up a new studio decorated with burning tires, barbed wire and a wall of graffiti showing Palestinians holding knives and stones. The station's hosts wear black and white keffiyehs to show solidarity with Palestinians who confront the IDF. (Read More)

4. New York State Passes Legislation Protecting Israel from Boycott Activity - United with Israel

The New York State Senate passed a bill prohibiting business dealings with individuals or corporations that support the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel. It is illegal in New York State to engage directly in an international boycott against allies of the United States. On Wednesday, this law was expanded through Bill S6378A, otherwise known as the Martins-Felder Anti-BDS Bill, which also forbids dealings with other companies that boycott US allies, including Israel. Until the passing of this bill, it was possible to support Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel or any other US ally indirectly through business dealings with companies or individuals engaged in such activity. 5. China Announces Support for a Palestinian State with Capital in Jerusalem - United with Israel

China is the latest country to join the call for a Palestinian state with the demand that Israel give away land liberated during the 1967 Six Day War, including the strategic Golan Heights, the biblical heartland of Judea and Samaria, the Golan Heights as well as eastern Jerusalem - the holiest city in Judaism - which would be the designated capital.

"China firmly supports the Middle East peace process and supports the establishment of a State of Palestine enjoying full sovereignty on the basis of the 1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital," Chinese President Xi Jinping stated Thursday in Cairo during his first address ever to the Arab League, RT reported. He also announced a $7.6 million grant for a solar power station to improve the lives of the Palestinians. (Read More)

6. MKs brace for heated vote on controversial transparency bill - Israel Hayom

Tempers were expected to flare at the Knesset plenum on Monday, as lawmakers prepared to deliberate and vote on a controversial bill dubbed the NGO transparency bill. Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked, one of the leading proponents of the bill, will be the first speaker at Monday's plenum debate, followed by several dozen MKs.

If passed in its current language, the legislation will require NGOs that receive more than 50% of their funding from foreign governments to list the sources of their funding on all their official publications. The bill's provisions have come under fire from the Left, from various civil rights groups, and the Israel Democracy Institute, as it is seen as targeting primarily left-wing NGOs. There are also critical voices from within the coalition, with Kulanu MK Michael Oren leading the charge. (Read More)

1. PA threatens to force Israel to withdraw from Judea and Samaria - Israel National News

The Palestinian Authority (PA) on Monday blasted Israel for its "settlement attack" and threatened to force a withdrawal from Judea and Samaria on Israel.

The message called this activity "another stage in the gradual Judaization of Hevron's old city and the expulsion of the Palestinians from it", and argues that "the escalation of settlement activity in Jerusalem, Hevron, the Jordan Valley and elsewhere...is contrary to the two-state solution and promotes a religious war in the region."

In an appeal to the international community, the PA Foreign Ministry asked that a more vigorous approach be adopted to force Israel to "end the occupation of Palestinian land" and to stop the settlement and Israel's unilateral steps. (Read more)

- Abba Father, You gave this land to the descendants of Abraham with the condition that as long as they were obedient to Your laws, that they could stay on the land. They were expelled in 70 AD, but Your word says that in the end times, Israel would once again bloom in the desert. Lord, we believe that we are in the end times and that Israel is once again a nation. Protect her right to be. In Jesus Christ Holy Name, we pray, Amen.

~So the ransomed of the Lord will return and come with joyful shouting to Zion, And everlasting joy will be on their heads. They will obtain gladness and joy, And sorrow and sighing will flee away. (Isaiah 51:11)

2. US says prepared for military solution against ISIS in Syria - Israel Hayom

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden said Saturday that the United States and Turkey were prepared for a military solution against Islamic State in Syria should the Syrian government and rebels fail to reach a political settlement. The latest round of Syria peace talks are planned to begin on Monday in Geneva but were at risk of being delayed partly because of a dispute over who will comprise the opposition delegation.

Syrian armed rebel groups said Saturday they held the Syrian government and Russia responsible for any failure of peace talks to end the country's civil war, even before negotiations were due to start. "We do know it would better if we can reach a political solution but we are prepared ... if that's not possible, to have a military solution to this operation in taking out Daesh [Islamic State]," Biden said at a news conference after a meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.

A U.S. official later clarified that Biden was talking about a military solution to Islamic State, not Syria as a whole. (Read more)

- Abba Father, it would be wonderful if Turkey was a true ally with the USA, and we could destroy ISIS together. But Turkey is a strange ally that wants to destroy the very army that is helping the USA fight ISIS...the Kurds. Abba, first we ask that You would protect the Kurds from Turkey, and that they would come to know the one true God. And secondly, that Turkey would focus on joining the USA in defeating ISIS. The Middle East is such a convoluted area that only You can understand. Only You, Lord, can straighten this mess. Again, we ask that You would be a hedge of protection for the Kurds, and our troops. In Jesus Christ Holy Name, we pray, Amen.

~Only do not rebel against the Lord; and do not fear the people of the land, for they will be our prey. Their protection has been removed from them, and the Lord is with us; do not fear them." (Numbers 14:9)

3. Sen. Lankford: Clinton's Emails 'Would Absolutely Represent a Security Threat'; 1,340 Had Classified Info -CNSNews.com

Hillary Clinton used her private, unsecured email server for government business, and according to the Intelligence Community Inspector General, at least two of those emails are "top secret" and others are even more sensitive, containing information from "Special Access Programs" that could reveal details about intelligence sources.

Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.), a member of the Senate intelligence committee, said those emails "would absolutely represent a security threat" to the United States if a foreign government got a hold of them. "There are about 1,340 e-mails that we know of so far that had classified information, whether it be sensitive classified or top secret," Lankford told "Fox News Sunday."

"And there's been a lot of conversation about the -- what they call S.A.P., Special Access Program, information that's also included. It's been referred to as above top secret. It's not above quote/unquote 'top secret.' It's a special compartmentalized top secret information where only certain individuals should be able to see this information. So, yes, it is a major risk to have this kind of information outside of a government server." (Read more)

- Abba Father, we thank You that this information is coming to the light. We pray this situation would be judged righteously. We ask that if there has been a security threat due to mis-classified information that it would come to the light quickly, and that it come to trial. Thank You for protecting the USA while secret information was on Secretary of State Clinton's server. In His Name we pray, Amen.

~The exercise of justice is joy for the righteous, But is terror to the workers of iniquity. (Proverbs 21:15)

4. Swine flu OUTBREAK: 72 more deaths as killer disease continues its spread across Europe - The Express UK

An outbreak of swine flu has killed 72 more people and is putting thousands more lives in danger as the deadly virus continues to spread across eastern Europe. Up to 40,000 people are expected to contract the disease in the Ukraine capital Kiev, where residents are covering their faces with masks or scarves.

Schools have been closed for more than a week and some public gatherings have been banned as authorities struggle to head off the outbreak. The Ukrainian health ministry has confirmed 72 swine flu deaths, of which 47 were in the past week. (Read more)

- Abba Father, we come against the H1N1 Swine Flu virus in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and we declare death to this virus. May it dissipate and die. We declare life and complete healing to those who have been infected. We say to the H1N1 Swine Flu virus this far and no further...die...be gone in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

~ And He called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases. (Luke 9:1

5. Franklin Graham on Wheaton row: Muslims and Christians do NOT worship the same God - Christian Today

Islam and Christianity "clearly do not worship the same God", according to leading preacher and evangelist Rev Franklin Graham. Graham criticised the proposal at Wheaton College in Illinois to end their plans to fire a professor who said she believed Muslims and Christians worship the same God.

On Facebook he wrote: "Both my father Billy Graham and my mother attended Wheaton College in Illinois - in fact that's where they met. I'm surprised and disappointed that the faculty council there is now recommending the college drop their plans to terminate a professor who published that she believed Islam and Christianity worship the same God in December.

"This is no minor issue that should be debated. Islam denies that God has a Son. They deny that Jesus is God. They do not believe in a Triune God - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I can tell you - Islam and Christianity clearly do not worship the same God. How the faculty council can now support this professor being allowed to teach students is deeply concerning." (Read more)

- Abba Father, we thank You for Franklin Graham's strong stance that we do not worship the same God as the Muslims. Your word says, that 'You are the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.' Their god changes with the wind. And last, but not least, You sent Your son to die on the cross for our sins while they have to die for their god. Thank You Abba! You are the One true God. We pray that Your Holy Spirit will fall on the staff at Wheaton College and that they will see the truth and that the truth will set them straight. In Jesus Christ Holy Name, Amen.

- So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." (John 8:31-32)

6. 'Israel's electrical grid attacked in massive cyber attack' - Jerusalem Post

As Israelis cranked up their heaters during the current cold snap, the Public Utility Authority was attacked by one of the largest cyber assaults that the country has experienced, Minister of Infrastructure, Energy and Water Yuval Steinitz said on Tuesday.

"Yesterday we identified one of the largest cyber attacks that we have experienced," Steinitz said at the CyberTech 2016 conference at the Tel Aviv Trade Fair and Convention Center.

Steinitz said that attack was dealt with by his ministry and the National Cyber Bureau and that it was under control. (Read more)

- Father, we praise You that this attack was under control so quickly. We ask that You place Your guardian angels around all cyberspace in Israel, securing the airwaves for Your Glory. We ask this in Your name, amen and amen.

- "Bless the Lord, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word." (Psalm 103:20)

"There is no justification for terror. The Palestinian murderers don't want to build a state - they want to destroy a state (Israel), and they say it out loud," he continued. "They want to murder Jews wherever they are, and they say it out loud. They don't murder for the sake of peace and they don't murder for the sake of human rights. (Read more)

- Father, once again the Lion of Judah has fearlessly spoken truth to the nations of the dangers we all face from terrorism. Let Ban Ki-Moon hear, and take heed, we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, amen and amen.

- " . . .the righteous are bold as a lion . . ." (Prov. 28:1)

8. World Leaders Mark Holocaust Remembrance Day - Breaking Israel News

World leaders and communities throughout the globe will mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day on Wednesday, January 27, with ceremonies, memorials, and events intended to honor victims of the Holocaust and World War II.

While Israel remembers the Holocaust on the Hebrew date of the 27th of Nisan, which usually falls out in May, it is commemorated internationally on the anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi death camp Auschwitz, which occurred 71 years ago in 1945.

Among those set to recognize the solemnity of the day is American president Barack Obama, who is scheduled to attend a ceremony at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, DC. The ceremony will honor four people considered Righteous Among the Nations - non-Jews who risked their lives to save or help Jews during the Holocaust. (Read more)

> > > See below for more details from this article.

- Father, we thank You that world leaders are taking time today to remember the horrors of the Holocaust and to pledge that this never happens again. We ask for a greater awareness to arise among Your people of the increase of antisemitism in our time, and that we would take action to forbid this. In Jesus/Yeshua's name we offer this prayer, amen and amen.

- "He hath remembered His covenant for ever, the word which He commanded to a thousand generations." (Psalm 105:8)

9. FBI arrests Milwaukee man accused of planning Masonic temple attack - Fox News

A Milwaukee man wanted to storm a Masonic temple with a machine gun and kill at least 30 people in an attack he hoped would show "nobody can play with Muslims" and spark more mass shootings in the United States, federal agents said Tuesday after the man's arrest.

Federal prosecutors charged 23-year-old Samy Mohamed Hamzeh with unlawfully possessing a machine gun and receiving and possessing firearms not registered to him. A spokesman for the U.S. attorney, Dean Puschnig, didn't immediately respond to a question asking why charges were limited to gun possession. Hamzeh's attorney, federal defender Ronnie Murray, didn't immediately return email and voicemail messages left after business hours. (Read more)

- Father, as much as we do not stand in agreement with the Free Masons in our country, neither do we wish to see any perish. We thank You that this man has been caught before his wicked plans could take place, and we ask for even more arrests to be successfully carried out in the days ahead. In Jesus' name, amen and amen.

- "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9)

10. Saeed Abedini Describes Prison Torture, Praying 20 Hours a Day in First Interview - Christian Post

Pastor Saeed Abedini, the American citizen who was released from prison in Iran earlier this month, has opened up about the torture he suffered while in captivity and his constant prayer to God in his first post-release interview. Abedini told Greta Van Susteren of Fox News that interrogators tried to get him to sign confession papers to crimes he didn't commit during his more than three years in prison, but he refused each time.

"In interrogation, once they beat me very badly," the pastor said, noting how one beating caused him stomach bleeding. He was also threatened of being beaten to death, and told that even after his release, he would still be followed closely.

Abedini says that he was imprisoned for his Christian faith, though he said the Iranian government continues to claim he was punished for "using Christianity to try and remove the government." (Read more)

- Father God, we thank You again and again and again that You have heard the prayers of Your people on behalf of Saeed Abedini during his time of imprisonment, and that You have set this captive free. Lord, help us to remember to continue in prayer for Saeed, for Nagmeh, and for his children as his family enters this season of healing. Keep them safe under the shelter of Your wing, we ask in Your name, amen and amen.

- "And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You." (Psalm 9:10)

The Prophetic Turkey and Iran

Ezekiel 38 and 39 describes how the Lord defeats Israel's end time enemies after they attack from the North. Included in the coalition, led by "Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal (v38:3)" are Persia, Ethiopia, Libya, Magog, Gomer and Togarmah. Ancient history and maps confirm that Magog, Meshech, Tubal, Gomer and Togarmah are located in modern Turkey. Persia is modern Iran. Libya is Libya and Ethiopia is likely modern Sudan. Today's political landscape would place Turkey and Iran at odds as Shia Iran is vying for Middle East hegemony over Sunni Turkey. The Islamic State (ISIS) is Turkey's proxy against Iran's vassal state, Syria. We may be watching a layer of prophecy unfold.

The Lord says in Zechariah 12:3, "And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it." Many find it hard to imagine how, for example, the United States would be gathered prophetically against Israel. But in a strong sense, America is. The IS, while publicly condemned by the US "president," is allowed by the US to do its dirty work in the Middle East because it stands as a counterbalance to Iran. Turkey, a US ally whose leader is close friends with the US "president," is supporting IS with "truckloads of arms and ammunition, as well as fighters," according to news reports.

The Middle East Media Research Institute reports: "Turkish journalists who have documented their government's support for terrorists and who have published evidence of truckloads of arms and ammunition, as well as fighters, being sent into Syria have been threatened, arrested, and imprisoned by Turkish authorities. Foreign media have also extensively covered Turkey's sponsorship of ISIS and other terrorist organizations, and documented the ease with which thousands of foreign and Turkish jihadis enter and exit Syria under the eyes of Turkish officials. However, Western governments have refrained from criticizing Turkey's conduct in this matter, and continue to call Turkey "a partner in the fight against terrorism.""

Meantime, the US "president" has cleared the way for billions of dollars to be pumped into Iran in reward for agreeing to delay its nuclear program at least ten years. Many analysts do not believe Iran will hold to its end of the bargain, but rather accelerate nuclear development. With Iran and Turkey, two main end time players, at violent odds, Iran will need to be in submission to Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, for the Ezekiel prophecy to be fulfilled. When we see Iran being brought into a coalition with these prophetic nations against Israel, we know this time is near. Currently, China and Russia support Iran; the US and much of the NATO and European world support Turkey. Jerusalem is a burdensome stone in the oyster of the world. It becomes a pearl as prophecy advances. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

International Holocaust Remembrance Day

International Holocaust Remembrance Day

"He hath remembered His covenant for ever, the word which He commanded to a thousand generations." (Psalm 105:8)

World leaders and communities throughout the globe will mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day on Wednesday, January 27, with ceremonies, memorials, and events intended to honor victims of the Holocaust and World War II.

While Israel remembers the Holocaust on the Hebrew date of the 27th of Nisan, which usually falls in May, it is commemorated internationally on the anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi death camp Auschwitz, which occurred 71 years ago in 1945.

One of the men being honored is US Army master-sergeant Roddie Edmonds, from Tennessee, who, along with his soldiers, was imprisoned in a German POW camp during World War II. When asked to identify the Jewish soldiers under his command, Edmonds refused, responding, "We are all Jews."

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu noted the significance of Obama's decision to attend the event, pointing out at his Sunday cabinet meeting that the American president has not visited the Israeli embassy in the US for many years. He called the event a "testament that the US-Israel relationship . . . is very strong and stable", despite recent tensions between the two allies.
In his own remarks on the occasion, Netanyahu said that preserving the memory of the Holocaust was more important than ever in a "period of resurgent and sometimes violent antiSemitism."

"It is commemorations like this that remind us all where the oldest and most enduring hatred can lead," he said. He warned, however, that in Europe and elsewhere, "Jews are once again being targeted just for being Jews," drawing attention to hatred against individual Jews, the collective Jew and the Jewish state.

"Israel is targeted with the same slurs and the same libels that were leveled against the Jewish people since time immemorial," he said in his statement. "The obsession with the Jews - the fixation on the Jewish state - defies any other rational explanation."

Netanyahu pointed out that despite horrifying human rights violations perpetrated by ISIS, North Korea, Iran and Syria, the UN Human Rights Council condemns Israel more often than all of them put together. "Some things just don't change," he said.

But, he added, one very important thing has changed - the Jews themselves. "We are no longer a stateless people endlessly searching for a safe haven. We are no longer a powerless people begging others to offer us protection," he said. "Today we are an independent and sovereign people in our own homeland . . .Today we can protect ourselves and defend our freedom."

He concluded that while Israel would protect itself from the openly-declared goals of Iran, ISIS and Hamas to destroy the Jews, "Europe and the rest of the world must stand up together with us. Not for our sake; for theirs."

Several European leaders also made statements commemorating the day and drawing parallels between the Europe which allowed the Holocaust to happen and modern-day anti-Semitism. In a message to European Jewry on Tuesday, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said that he had never imagined that 71 years after the liberation of Auschwitz, Jews in France would be told to hide their kippahs, Jewish schools and synagogues would have to be guarded, and Europe would be so inhospitable to Jews that immigration to Israel would reach an all-time high.

Juncker said that it was of the utmost importance to "counter the dangerous rise of extremism, racism, xenophobia, nationalism and anti-Semitism." He added, "We are determined: Never again. Because a Europe of hate is one that we refuse. Because a Europe without Jews would be no longer Europe."

Events and ceremonies marking the day will also take place at UNESCO headquarters in Paris and at the United Nations complex in New York.

Last week, the Vatican issued a statement recognizing International Holocaust Remembrance Day, saying that the day "calls for a universal and ever deeper respect for the dignity of every person."

A Vatican representative said, "In remembering the Holocaust, we also remember that unless all men and women are recognized as one great family and unless we coexist with both neighbor and stranger, inhumanity awaits us." (Breaking Israel News) Read more here.

Florida: Christian Schools Can't Pray at Championship Football Game

Prayer is important at Florida's Cambridge Christian School.

"We train our students that prayer is foundational to their walk with Christ," Head of School Tim Euler told me. "Our faith is founded in prayer."

So when Cambridge Christian faced off against University Christian School last December in the 2A state championship football game, they asked the Florida High School Athletic Association if they could begin with a word of prayer.

The FHSAA said no.

They told both Christian schools that offering a pre-game prayer was against the law - that it could be viewed as an endorsement of religion since the schools would be praying on government property.

"This is ridiculous," said Jeremy Dys, an attorney with Liberty Institute. "We've got two Christian schools being told they can't pray."

Italian Paper: Wear A Kippah and Fight Against Surrender of the West

The Italian Il Foglio newspaper has declared International Holocaust Day marked on Wednesday as "Wear a Kippah Day" and is distributing kippahs (Jewish traditional head covering) to anyone who wishes to wear one in public.

The recent rise of anti-Semitism in Europe and attacks on Jews has led Jewish communal leaders, and specifically in France, to ask their community members to conceal their religious identity in public and not wear identifying articles, including kippahs. This call has led to an upheaval and a fierce debate on the Jews' precarious status in Europe, only seven decades after the Holocaust.
