1. 'Hezbollah is covertly watching us, waiting for the day of battle' - Jerusalem Post

The Nahal infantry brigade's Battalion 931 recently spent three months guarding the border with Lebanon, and during that time, its members got a glimpse into how the IDF's largest conventional military threat is preparing itself for any future clash with Israel.

Lt.-Col. Yehonatan Steinberg, commander of Battalion 931, said his forces did not encounter Hezbollah on the border fence on a daily basis, but that did not mean the Iran-backed terrorist organization, armed with more than 100,000 rockets and missiles, was not there.

His forces knew Hezbollah "was present, in a camouflaged manner, hidden away from the border," the commander said.

2. Nasrallah threatens to bomb chemical facility, kill thousands of Israelis - Times of Israel

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on Tuesday insisted that although his group isn't currently seeking war with Israel, it could defeat the Jewish state in a future conflict by targeting Haifa's ammonia storage tanks, resulting in massive fatalities.

Dismissing recent reports of a possible outbreak of hostilities with Israel, Nasrallah said deterrence established by the terror organization in the first and second Lebanon wars was keeping Israeli aggression at bay.

"Israel's psychological warfare is of no use against us," he said in a speech that was broadcast by the Lebanese Naharnet news site.

3. Jordan said to mull canceling gas deal with Israel - Times of Israel

Jordan is weighing the cancellation of a natural gas deal with Israel after talks with an Algerian company, Israel Radio reported Tuesday.

The question mark over an Israel-Jordan memorandum of understanding could undermine a central tenet of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's justification for the embattled Israeli gas framework agreement.

Israel Radio quoted an unidentified senior source in the Jordanian parliament as saying that there was growing support within the parliament for canceling the deal with Israel.

4. In a first, new Egyptian schoolbook teaches peace deal with Israel - Times of Israel

The peace treaty signed between Israel and Egypt in 1979 will for the first time be taught in Egyptian schools, Army Radio reported Tuesday.

The station said a reporter had read the new schoolbook on Egypt's modern history, which includes a chapter dealing with the Camp David agreement.

The peace deal is described in a matter-of-fact way, without bias or any attempt to present Israel in a negative light, the report said.

The authors of the Egyptian schoolbook, intended for the ninth grade, detail eight clauses from the agreement, which are reproduced in the book verbatim. These include phrases on Israel and Egypt"ending the state of war" and on "each side respecting the sovereignty and independence of the other side."

5. Nasrallah begs Arab leaders: Don't ally with Israel against Iran - Israel National News

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has voiced his concern over Israel's emerging alliance with Sunni Arab gulf states, and urged Arab leaders to break ties with the Jewish state.

Nasrallah made his remarks during a televised address Tuesday evening from his bunker in Lebanon, from which he rarely emerges.

In comments broadcast on Hezbollah's Al Manar TV in honor of "Martyr Leaders Day", Nasrallah claimed that Israel was "taking advantage" of Sunni states' confrontation with Iran to forge "relations and alliances with the Sunni Arab states.

6. Jerusalem's Zion Square to become 'Tolerance Square' - Israel National News

Zion Square, a central and historic square in Jerusalem, is to be renamed Tolerance Square in memory of Shira Banki, a young woman who was murdered by a crazed zealot during a "gay pride parade" in July of 2015.

The decision was reached by in a meeting between Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat and representatives of Hatnua Hayerushalmit, an organization that combats "religious extremism" in Jerusalem, and which is supported by the radical leftist New Israel Fund.

1. Report: Assad built seven-story underground war bunker- Times of Israel

A Syrian rebel group claims that Syrian President Bashar Assad built an underground town in the Damascus area capable of being used as headquarters for the regime's senior military and political leadership, the Maariv newspaper said Monday.

2. Disney cruise ship picks up suspected migrants- CNN

A Disney cruise ship stopped on its way to the Cayman Islands to pick up 12 suspected migrants southeast of Cuba, the U.S. Coast Guard said Sunday.

Disney Wonder was heading from Miami to Grand Cayman when the group of suspected migrants was spotted around 8 p.m. Saturday, according to a source with knowledge of the incident.

3. Hawaii declares state of emergency over Zika virus, dengue fever outbreak- Fox News

HONOLULU - Hawaii Gov. David Ige declared a state of emergency to fight mosquito borne illnesses including dengue fever and the Zika virus.

The state has been in the midst of a dengue fever outbreak on Hawaii's Big Island, where there were more than 250 confirmed cases.

There have been no locally transmitted cases of the Zika virus in Hawaii, Ige said in a news conference Friday. But there's concern that the islands could be at risk because mosquitoes that can carry dengue fever also can carry the Zika virus.

"We are doing everything we can to be prepared, to be proactive, to prevent vector borne diseases here in Hawaii," Ige said.

4. Mapped: Negative central bank interest rates now herald new danger for the world- Telegraph

The world's tentative experiment with negative interest rates got off to an unremarkable start.

Sweden's Riksbank - the world's oldest central bank - became the first major monetary authority to cross the rubicon and take its main policy rate into the red exactly a year ago to the month.

The Riksbank's move followed the likes of Switzerland and Denmark, who had turned negative in a bid to stimulate flagging inflation and halt the punishing appreciation of their currencies.

5. Arabic banner mysteriously appears on Texas building - Fox News

A Texas mayor wants federal agents to investigate after a black banner with Arabic-style writing was seen mysteriously hanging from the top of a government-owned building on Monday. The banner, draped from the roof of Citizens Tower in Lubbock, was black with a red heart in the center and the words "alhab lljamie" printed in white. An Arabic-speaking source translated that to "love all," according to FOX34. The flag was stabilized with two cinder blocks, Lubbock Online reported.

Mayor Glen Robertson asked City Manager James Loomis to have the flag removed from the building, which was formerly known as the Omni Building. "I have sent Mr. Loomis an email requesting that we remove the Arabic flag from the Omni building, that we take all steps necessary to secure the building and that Chief [Greg] Stevens notify the Department of Homeland Security, FBI and the Lubbock Sheriff's Office," Robertson said in a public statement. "It is premature to come to conclusions before we can gather more facts but I believe that we must take this situation seriously in light of current national and international events."

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia's oldest son, Eugene Scalia, told Fox News' "The Kelly File" on Tuesday that the lesson his father will bequeath to the country will be his "very strong view of the role of the court" and the Constitution, as well as "the court's importance, but also its limited role."

"He had a very strong view of the role of the court, the role of the Constitution, the court's importance, but also its limited role, and hopefully, that's a lesson that he will bequeath to the country," said Eugene Scalia, an attorney.

Scalia said his father cared about the opinions "he wrote and joined and getting it right as a judge, and that's what mattered." Antonin Scalia got used to the grief he received about his "jurist prudence" and whether people "in the media or elsewhere" agreed with him was not important to him, Eugene Scalia said. (Read more)

7. New Website Explains Little Sisters of the Poor's Side of SCOTUS Case - CNSNews.com

The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, representing the Little Sisters of the Poor in the Supreme Court Case Zubik v. Burwell, launched a new website Tuesday with comics, infographics, and a detailed explanation of the order's objections to complying with the Affordable Care Act's contraceptive mandate in their health care plans.

The Supreme Court case Zubik v. Burwell will decide whether the government can force the Little Sisters and other Christian organizations to go against their religious beliefs and cooperate with a federal mandate, issued under Obamacare, which requires almost all health care plans to cover abortion-inducing drugs and devices, as well as sterilizations and contraceptives. 8. McCain Says He'll Hold a Hearing, Subpoena US Sailors Detained by Iran if Necessary - CNSNews.com

Senate Armed Services Committee chairman John McCain (R-Ariz.), angered by Iran's treatment of 10 U.S. Navy sailors detained overnight in the Persian Gulf last month - and by the administration's handling of the incident - is now threatening to subpoena the sailors if necessary to establish exactly what happened.

In the weeks following the incident, which U.S. Central Command said occurred after two patrol boats inadvertently entered Iran's territorial waters, Iranian state media repeatedly used images of the sailors' detention at gunpoint in a bid to denigrate the U.S.

A U.S. Navy investigation is underway, but McCain said at the weekend it seemed administration members were "dragging their feet" in completing the probe.

Reuters quoted McCain as telling reporters, while traveling back to the U.S. from the Munich Security Conference, that if the administration did not provide the investigation's findings by March 1, he would hold a hearing and subpoena the sailors - an option he said he would rather not exercise. "I guarantee you, if they don't have a debrief by the first of March like they said, we'll have a hearing and we'll subpoena," he said. "We're not going to wait any longer. We will subpoena the individuals if we have to." (Read more)

Prayer and action; faith and works


We are living in a fallen world. If you read the Bible and believe it to be the infallible, inerrant word of God, then you know that the closer we get to the Messiah's return, the worse it gets. Prior to Christ's return there is no massive revival where everybody celebrates the kingdom of God being established and ruled by Christians. Jesus Christ alone treads the winepress, "and the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses (Revelation 19:14)." It is the Messiah who smites the nations and rules them "with a rod of iron (Revelation 19:15)." The teaching that man establishes the kingdom of God and rules over it in order for Christ to return is errant and heretical. It has misled the masses. (Read more)

Zika--Pandemic marketing at the cost of life?


Every few years there is a new pandemic panic. Remember SARS (2003), avian flu (2004), and swine flu (2009)? Now it's Zika. This is the time of the year that somewhere on earth an old pandemic arises or a new one is discovered. Lives are lost. Solutions are found. Untested new vaccines often are introduced within short periods of time after these diseases become well-known. There is always speculation that governments will force vaccinations on people--and often they do. Politicians receive money from drug companies. Drug companies make a lot of money from vaccinations. Sometimes vaccinations cause terrible side effects and drug companies make even more money. The truth behind Zika is startling. (Read more)

A Supreme Battle


Over the course of the past year, whenever people asked who would be the next president, I often said it was hard to answer that question because the election would be determined by headlines we haven't yet seen. We know, for example, that the headlines from the Paris and San Bernardino attacks significantly impacted Dr. Ben Carson's standing in the polls.

The shocking death of Justice Antonin Scalia will change the presidential race yet again. It sets off what promises to be a brutal confrontation between Barack Obama and Senate Republicans.

Grassroots Republicans have zero tolerance for another cave in to this president. In fact, a surrender would be a double win for Obama. He would swing the court dramatically to the left and in the process destroy the Republican Party. That is what will happen if Republican senators do not hold firm and oppose this appointment when it is made.

Whether they want to or not, Republican senators must fight this fight. Donald Trump is so successful because many voters do see the GOP as an alternative to Obama. If Senate Republicans allow Scalia's seat to be filled by Obama, they may as well cancel the election because the GOP would likely lose anyway. And even if it did win, the odds are overwhelming that the Obama court would negate everything that Republican president attempted to do. (Read more)

The stakes of the presidential race were put in sobering perspective over the weekend with the sad passing of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. In an election where the courts have been a backseat issue for everyone but former Texas Solicitor General Ted Cruz (R-Texas), the country's eyes are now fixed on the empty, black-draped chair of Justice Scalia.

In 29 years, the Constitution had no greater friend than the man whose body will lie in repose in the Court's great hall Friday. For three decades, the bombproof cases at National Archives protected the physical document, while down the street Justice Scalia guarded its intent. "The Constitution that I interpret and apply is not living but dead, or as I prefer to call it, enduring," he once said. "It means today not what current society, much less the courts, thinks it ought to mean, but what it meant when it was adopted."

An ardent defender of the charter's "bright lines," Scalia will be missed for the artistry of his opinions, his deep love of country, and his blunt and brilliant perspective. In the days to come, Scalia's legacy will be one of family -- at home, where he and his wife raised nine children, and at the Court, where he will be remembered for his passionate defense of life, freedom, and marriage. At a time when the bench seems overrun with wannabe legislators, Justice Scalia stood in stark contrast to the liberal ideology that distorts the Constitution for its own purposes. Now, a month shy of his 80th birthday, the country is grappling with how to move forward. (Read more)

Islamist extremists are waging a religious persecution so severe that, as Pope Francis and Patriarch Kirill stated in their historic joint statement last week, "whole families, villages and cities of our brothers and sisters in Christ are being completely exterminated." Nowhere does this obtain more than in Iraq and Syria, where Christian communities, a groundswell of prominent voices is now acknowledging, face genocide. On February 4, the European Parliament, with near-unanimity and solid socialist support, passed a resolution declaring that ISIS "is committing genocide against Christians and Yazidis" and "other religious and ethnic minorities."

Despite a foreign-policy mandate to speak out against religious persecution, the United States government has so far been silent on whether this epic religious cleansing of Christians,Yazidis, and other minorities from the heart of the Middle East ranks among the gravest of crimes.

RINGS AROUND THE MOON


The Moon is waxing full, and there is a chill in northern places. That means now is a good time to be alert for icy Moon halos.

Moon halos are created by ice crystals in high clouds, which catch rays of moonlight and bend them into a 22o ring. Waxing full Moons are great at making these halos--and you don't have to be in a cold place to see them. Most of the ice crystals that create halos float 5 km to 10 km above the ground. Air at those altitudes is always freezing, even in the tropics.
So, no matter where you live, be alert for halos in the nights ahead. The Moon is full on Feb. 22nd. (Read more)

"A Night to Shine": Thousands of Special Needs Teens Attend Tim Tebow Prom


(Nashville, TN)-This past Valentine's Day weekend, more than 32,000 people with special needs attended the Night to Shine event, hosted by the Tim Tebow Foundation. This year, the former NFL star's charity sponsored prom events in 48 states and seven countries, including the U.S., Uganda, Haiti, New Zealand, Ecuador, the Philippines and Kenya.

As in years past, all participants received the royal treatment, complete with limousine rides, a red carpet, shoe shines, a dance floor, and much more. The theme of the event was simple: everyone is a king or queen in the eyes of God. To drive this point home, each participant was honored with a crown or tiara at the end of the night.
