4. Obama After Brussels Attack: Muslim Americans Are Most Important Partners Against Terror - Breaking Israel News

In the wake of deadly terror attacks in Brussels, US President Barack Obama stated that it was important to avoid measures that might "stigmatize" Muslims-Americans - but the Republican presidential candidates did not agree.

In his weekly media address, President Obama responded to the double attack in Brussels that left 31 dead and approximately 300 wounded. Two of the dead and 14 of the wounded were American citizens. The Islamic State (ISIS) took responsibility for the attack.

Obama said that targeting Muslims would be "counterproductive".

"[Muslim-Americans are] our most important partners in the nation's fight against those who would wage violent jihad. That's why we have to reject any attempt to stigmatize Muslim-Americans, and their enormous contributions to our country and our way of life," Obama said. "Such attempts are contrary to our character, to our values, and to our history as a nation built around the idea of religious freedom. It's also counterproductive."

"It plays right into the hands of terrorists who want to turn us against one another - who need a reason to recruit more people to their hateful cause," Obama added. (Read more)

The Daily Brief

1. Top Jihadist Claims Islamic State Has Agents Working in Western Airports - Breitbart

The Islamic State has agents working in Western airports, metro stations and 'very sensitive facilities in the world,' a leading Islamic State-allied militant claimed in an exclusive interview.

Abu al-Ayna al-Ansari, a Salafist movement senior official in the Gaza Strip, made the claim in a pre-recorded, hour-long interview to air in full on Sunday on 'Aaron Klein Investigative Radio,' the popular weekend talk radio program broadcast on New York's AM 970 The Answer and NewsTalk 990 AM in Philadelphia. Klein doubles as Breitbart's senior investigative reporter and Jerusalem bureau chief.

Ansari is a well-known Gazan Salafist jihadist allied with Islamic State ideology. During the interview with Klein, Ansari seemed to be speaking as an actual IS member, repeatedly using the pronoun 'we' when referring to IS and even seemingly making declarations on behalf of IS. IS has been reluctant to officially declare its presence in Gaza for fear of a Hamas clampdown, but the group is known to be active in the coastal enclave and Ansari is a suspected IS leader. IS-aligned militants have taken responsibility for recent rocket fire from Gaza aimed at Israel. (Read more)

- Abba Father, the enemy IS is playing hide and seek as they place agents throughout the world seeking to steal, kill and destroy. We know that You have overcome the world. As our Savior and King we fear no evil and seek Your face in the face of all threats. Thank You for protecting us in all Your ways. We thank You for protecting all agencies in the world that work tirelessly to reign in those trying to destroy good and kill people. Hear our prayer, O Lord, in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, amen.

- "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." (John 10:10)

2. Brussels Attacks: Nuclear Officer Found Dead, Security Pass Stolen - Breitbart

"Belgium is on high alert after a security officer for a nuclear plant was found dead with his work pass stolen. The concerning development, which occurred on Thursday but was only reported today by Dernière Heure, comes after concerns the Brussels bombers had been plotting to create a radioactive 'dirty bomb' that would scatter nuclear material in a crowded public place.

The security officer was reportedly shot dead as he walked his dog in the city of Charleroi. Authorities quickly cancelled his pass. While the motive for the murder remains unknown, police are looking into the theory he was killed to steal his pass and gain access to a nuclear facility. Breitbart London reported yesterday that eleven nuclear workers have had their security passes revoked amid fears the Brussels attackers wanted to steal nuclear material to build a dirty bomb. (Read more)

- Lord Jesus, we ask You to comfort the family of the security officer that was shot and killed. May his soul rest in peace. Praise You for spoiling a dangerous plot for more bombings in Brussels. Let the things hidden continue to be revealed to the authorities and with no harm being done to anyone. Let Your wisdom be their wisdom as they seek safety for their country. We ask in Your Holy name. Amen. - "Deliver me, O Lord, from evil men; Preserve me from violent men, Who plan evil things in their hearts; They continually gather together for war. They Sharpen their tongues like a serpent; The poison of asps is under their lips. Selah." (Psalm 140:1-3)

3. North Korean Propaganda Video Depicts Nuclear Strike on Washington - New York Times

"North Korea released a propaganda video on Saturday that depicts a nuclear strike on Washington, along with a warning to 'American imperialists' not to provoke the North.

The four-minute video clip, titled 'Last Chance,' uses computer animation to show what looks like an intercontinental ballistic missile flying through the earth's atmosphere before slamming into Washington, near what appears to be the Lincoln Memorial. A nuclear explosion follows.

'If the American imperialists provoke us a bit, we will not hesitate to slap them with a pre-emptive nuclear strike,' read the Korean subtitles in the video, which was uploaded to the YouTube channel of D.P.R.K. Today, a North Korean website. 'The United States must choose! It's up to you whether the nation called the United States exists on this planet or not.'" (Read more)

- Father, we ask repentance for the people of the United States. Forgive our nation of our sins, O Lord, and wash us clean of all things that are not pleasing in Your sight. We are Your people and still stand as "One nation under God". Protect us from the threats of North Korea. We will not be afraid of their propaganda, their videos or any of their scare tactics. You are our shield and protector. We ask that our intelligence will be far ahead of the Koreans. May Your Holiness shine and Your name be glorified by the actions of the United States. In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, we pray, amen and amen.

- "And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet." (Matthew 24:6)

4. Former Israeli intel chief: Russia remains in Syria, it will not abandon fight - Jerusalem Post

Former military intelligence chief Amos Yadlin said . . . the Russian army remains in Syria and its forces are not abandoning the fight against Islamic State. Yadlin made the remarks at a cultural event in Beersheba, weeks after Russian President Vladimir Putin said that "the main part" of Russian armed forces in Syria would start to withdraw. (Read more)

- Father God, we ask Your protection over Israel. This tiny country has been threatened by much larger countries through the centuries and yet they remain a strong and powerful country. They are hated by many and loved by few. Your love for them is far greater than man can understand. Thank you, Jesus, in Your name, Amen.

- "I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." (Genesis 12:3)

5. Senate Republicans begin dance with Garland - WND

Signaling a potential crack in the Senate GOP roadblock against considering Barack Obama's nomination of Judge Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court, Senator Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley has indicated he would accept submission from the White House of the standard questionnaire for nominees. On Friday, Grassley's spokesperson, Beth Levine, told BuzzFeed News that the Republicans "assume the administration will fill out the standard questionnaire submitted for judicial nominations." Levine reiterated, reported Buzzfeed,

It was welcomed as a breakthrough by the White House. "It appears that Chairman Grassley is prepared to accept a questionnaire from Judge Garland," White House spokesperson Brandi Hoffine told BuzzFeed News Saturday. "We are heartened by this development and look forward to the Committee making this request directly to the nominee as well as to the White House, as is standard practice."

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said, unequivocally, that no nominee of Obama's to replace Justice Antonin Scalia will receive a vote. And both McConnell and Grassley have said there will not be hearings for Garland's nomination. Yet on Tuesday, Sen. Mark Kirk of Illinois is scheduled to be the first Republican senator to meet with Garland, the senator's office announced Friday. A day earlier, Kansas Sen. Jerry Moran said that, while he doesn't support Garland, he believes Obama's nominee deserves a hearing. And, for her part, Maine Sen. Susan Collins has said she will meet with Garland - and has been pushing colleagues to do so and hold hearings as well. (Read more)

- Lord God, we ask that You seal the breach that is beginning to be manifest in the wall of the Republicans on Capitol Hill, who have been directed by their leadership to refuse to entertain any thought of honoring any nominee submitted by the president to fill the seat on the Supreme Court that is now vacant. We ask this in Your name, amen.

- "Behold, how blessed are they that stand in unity . . ." (Psalm 133:1a)

6. Indiana Bans Abortions Based on a Diagnosis of Down Syndrome - CNSNews.com

Indiana Governor Mike Pence signed a bill on Thursday banning abortion based on a diagnosis of Down Syndrome, making Indiana the second state in the nation after North Dakota to ban abortion for that reason.

The "Dignity for the Unborn" bill says, "Indiana does not allow a fetus to be aborted solely because of the fetus's race, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, or diagnosis or potential diagnosis of the fetus having Down syndrome or any other disability."

The bill also includes a requirement that aborted or miscarried babies' bodies be cremated or buried, and a requirement that abortionists who have hospital admitting privileges renew them annually. (Read more)

- Hallelujah, Father, and all praise be to Your Holy Name! We ask that Your hand of blessing would rest upon Indiana's governor Mike Pence, and upon all of those who worked in the State Assembly to see this bill passed and become law. We ask now that every other state in our nation would follow the example set by Indiana, so that these abortions would be made absolutely illegal throughout our land, in Jesus' name, amen and amen.

- "This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live." (Deuteronomy 30:19)

7. Temple of Baal Will Be Erected in Times Square Next Month - Charisma News

I realize that the headline of this article sounds like it must be false, but it is actually completely true. The Temple of Baal (also known as the Temple of Bel) was a world-famous landmark that was located in Palmyra, Syria. In August 2015, this temple was destroyed by ISIS, and most of the world recoiled in terror at the loss of a "cultural heritage site."

In an attempt to "preserve history," two exact replicas of the 50-foot arch that stood at the entrance to the temple will be erected in April 2016 in Times Square in New York City and in Trafalgar Square in London. Needless to say, a lot of people are quite disturbed by this. In ancient times, child sacrifice and bisexual orgies were common practices at the altars of Baal, and now we are putting up a monument of worship to this false god in the heart of our most important city.

When I first came across this story, I could hardly believe it. But this is not just some Internet rumor. This was reported by the New York Times. (Read more)

- Father God, we cry out to You for mercy! We REPENT for the five major policies of our nation that will cause Your judgment to fall upon our land: the shedding of innocent blood, the legalization of perversion, idolatry, broken covenants, and coming against Israel. Holy God, rise up with Your Mighty Hand and smash these plans of the enemy, humble their leaders, and bring each one of them to You in salvation. We ask this in Your name, amen.

- "Let God arise, Let His enemies be scattered; Let those also who hate Him flee before Him. As smoke is driven away, so drive them away; as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God. But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God; Yes, let them rejoice exceedingly." (Psalm 68:1-3)

8. Group claiming Lahore, Pakistan attack: We deliberately targeted Christians - Israel National News

Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, the breakaway Pakistani faction of the Taliban which claimed responsibility for Sunday's bombing in the eastern city of Lahore, said it had deliberately targeted the Christian community that was celebrating the Easter holiday.

65 people were killed in the attack and over 300 were wounded. (Read more)

- O, Dear Lord, we cry out: when will this stop?? Abba Father, we lift up so many of our own brothers and sisters who are suffering this morning in Pakistan. Abba, please comfort their hearts and bring them Your peace.

We lift up those in authority who will now track down the terrorist or terrorists who have accomplished this wicked deed, that You would help them in their task. Abba, we cry out today . . . comfort Your people, we pray, amen.

- "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." (Matthew 5:4)

Encouragement amidst troubled times

I have been receiving a lot of comments lately from Daily Jot readers. Many have been very encouraging. Others are appalled at the state of affairs in our nation and around the world. Still some are angry and do not want to admit the obvious that is before them. Sometimes it is a good idea to take a step back, take a deep breath, and look at the world from a different angle. In starting the Daily Jot back in January of 2002, I sensed the Lord wanted a brief testimony of daily events that could equip and encourage people to share the Good News. Most of the Daily Jot readers, especially those who have been reading a while, "get it." But I want to encourage all readers to keep things in perspective.

The Bible is about Jesus Christ and what he did to bring salvation to a fallen world. There are many examples of how we are to live our lives and how we are to treat others. A good friend of mine says "You reap what you sow, more than what you sow, later than you sow." He's got a great point. It really is a law of God. So if you read the Jot and use it to share a Biblical perspective by discussing a current event, then you have planted a seed. Unlike seeds that you plant in a garden, you may never see the growth of that seed, but God's word does not return void. Be ecouraged to share what is in the Daily Jot with others--either verbally, or via email, or any other way that you see fit.

The Daily Jot is NOT intended to bring you distress or sorrow or fear. As Christians, we are often mocked for saying that we are living in the end times. They say that every generation thinks that. But the fact of the matter is that every day brings us closer to the Biblical end times. Certainly, there are many prophetic indicators that tell us we are getting closer and closer to the return of Christ the Messiah. How wonderful is that? We know from scripture that things are going to get worse the closer we get. But we are encouraged in Ephesians 6:13, "Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."

The Daily Jot also is intended to rally folks to do the right thing. Romans 12:21 says "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." Our country long has been a beacon of Christian hope to the rest of the world. I know. I have traveled quite a bit and hear what people say. We have a legal say in how things are done in our country. But because we have diverted our attention away from God and from His precepts of good citizenship, our beacon is dimming. Solomon said in Ecclesiastes 3 that he has seen travail of the labors of men. "I know there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice and to do good in his life. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labor, it is the gift of God." Don't let these troubled times get you down. Find joy in Christ's labors.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Ronald Reagan's Easter Message

Ronald Reagan's Easter Message

"As morning spreads around the planet, we'll celebrate the triumph of life over death, the Resurrection of Jesus."-Ronald Reagan

In his Easter Address, April 2, 1983, President Ronald Reagan stated:

"This week Jewish families and friends have been celebrating Passover . . . Its observance reminds all of us that the struggle for freedom and the battle against oppression waged by the Jews since ancient times is one shared by people everywhere.

And Christians have been commemorating the last momentous days leading to the crucifixion of Jesus 1,950 years ago. Tomorrow, as morning spreads around the planet, we'll celebrate the triumph of life over death, the Resurrection of Jesus."

Reagan continued:

"Both observances tell of sacrifice and pain but also of hope and triumph . . . Men and women around the world who love God and freedom - bear a message of world hope and brotherhood like the rites of Passover and Easter that we celebrate this weekend . . .

We want peace . . . And then they ask, 'Do you think that we can have these things one day?' Well, I do. I really do.

Nearly 2,000 years after the coming of the Prince of Peace, such simple wishes may still seem far from fulfillment. But we can achieve them. We must never stop trying."

A Message from Brussels

A Message from (about) Brussels

Editor's note:

Last week, when the attacks took place at the airport in Brussels, we thanked the Lord that a local pastor, who was present at the time, survived. We then asked your prayers for "Pastor Pitts" as we knew he would begin to reach out to the many who were suffering. Here is his report about the events of that day, and we thank you for your prayerful intervention at that time.

Dear family and Friends,

I arrived home last night (Friday). All of our children and Grandchildren are at the house.

Thanks to all of my family and friends for their prayers, notes and amazing outpouring of love and concern. Please continue to pray for the injured and grieving families who lost loved ones.

Between 3/9 and 3/21, together with a small team, I was in Sierra Leone sharing the Love of Jesus Christ. Over 3000, mostly Muslims, gave their hearts to Jesus and were saved from eternal death. On 3/22 I was flying home when several Muslims killed 34 innocent people. Our Jesus saved 3000 plus and brought hope to many more. Their "god" inspired 34 deaths and brought terror to many more.

On the day of the bombing, my heart rate never accelerated. I was concerned for the victims, but in perfect peace all day. Loved on people. Prayed continuously, comforted the grieving. Personally, I had zero fear, zero trauma. My response was not courageous in any respect; it was strictly due to my trust in the Lord. The Bible says, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." (Isa 26:3, KJV) I've certainly found that to be true in this and many other terrible situations. We have NOTHING to fear if our lives are focused on Jesus.
I love Muslims, I also love followers of other religions, and followers of no religion, but without Jesus they are lost. Tomorrow we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. I know He's alive and He alone gives eternal life. Please give your hearts fully to Jesus. Pray for the lost and commit your life to showing this world the love of Our Savior.

Hope to see you all tomorrow in church . . .

Jesus is Alive.

Love and Blessings Always,

Pitts

Songs Our Grandmothers Sang:

NEAR THE CROSS

"The angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city." (Revelation 22:1-2)

Lyrics

Jesus, keep me near the cross,
There a precious fountain
Free to all, a healing stream
Flows from Calvary's mountain.

Refrain

In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever;
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.

Near the cross, a trembling soul,
Love and mercy found me;
There the bright and morning star
Sheds its beams around me.

Refrain

Near the cross! O Lamb of God,
Bring its scenes before me;
Help me walk from day to day,
With its shadows o'er me.

Refrain

Near the cross I'll watch and wait
Hoping, trusting ever,
Till I reach the golden strand,
Just beyond the river.

Refrain

Signs and Wonders

Stargazers have a chance to see bright green comet next week

When scientists started tracking Comet 252P/LINEAR, they figured it would pass Earth without a trace.

But then something strange happened. The icy object started brightening abruptly a few weeks ago and has become 100 times brighter than expected, according to the astronomy magazine Sky and Telescope. As a result, observers from the Southern Hemisphere have caught a glimpse of the comet that is believed to be about 750 feet in size. They have been able to see it with their naked eye and the comet appeared greenish in color.

Now, it's the Northern Hemisphere's turn.

Starting Tuesday, stargazers with their binoculars could spot Comet 252P/Linear in the sky - though the view isn't expected to be as good due the glow of the Moon and natural light pollution. (Fox News) Read more

The Good News Corner

Miraculous Healings Breaking Out Among Syrian Muslims

An extraordinary number of Muslims living in war-torn Syria have decided to follow Jesus after experiencing His love firsthand through miraculous healings and gifts from above.

Among the people living in or near the war zone, many are struggling to survive because there is simply not enough food, according to the Lebanon-based director of Christian Aid Mission.

One Syrian mother, identified as Majida, went to God in prayer after her family ran out of food.

"She prayed, 'Lord, I know You never let us down-we need food for our family,'" the director recounted. "As she was walking later that day, she found some money on the path in front of her. She was so pleased that God had answered her prayer in such a creative way that she started jumping up and down with joy."

Majida rushed to buy bread for her family, and when her neighbors asked where she had gotten the money, she said, "It was sent to me from God."

"They pressed her to tell them how that was possible, so she went on to share her faith and pray with them," the director said.

Desperate Muslims who hear about miraculous healings through Christians are drawn to find out more. A mother named Nivine brought her paralyzed, 2-year-old daughter to a meeting of one of the ministry teams affiliated with Christian Aid Mission.

The ministry leader informed Nivine that they pray in the name of Jesus.

"Whatever it takes," she replied, in tears. "Just make her better!"

"When we pray, we pray to a living God," the ministry leader told her. Then he explained the gospel to her and she accepted Christ.

After she was born again, Nivine started faithfully attending the meetings with her paralyzed daughter." The group continued to pray for the child in the following days.

About two weeks later, Nivine was worshipping at a meeting with her daughter next to her. She glanced down and noticed her daughter was smiling. Then she was shocked to see that her hands were moving. Could this be a dream? But her daughter continued to move.

It was true-she was healed by the power of the living God! (Read more)
