Tracking the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia:

News of interest and for prayer

"For His eyes are upon the ways of a man,
And He sees all his steps.. .
So that godless men would not rule
Nor be snares of the people."

1. Clinton campaign - and some cyber experts - say Russia is behind email release - Washington Post

A top official with Hillary Clinton's campaign on Sunday accused the Russian government of orchestrating the release of damaging Democratic Party records to help the campaign of Republican Donald Trump - and some cybersecurity experts agree.

The extraordinary charge came as some national security officials have been growing increasingly concerned about possible efforts by Russia to meddle in the election, according to several individuals familiar with the situation.

Late last week, hours before the records were released by the website WikiLeaks, the White House convened a high-level security meeting to discuss reports that Russia had hacked into systems at the Democratic National Committee.

If the accusation is true, it would be the first time the Russians have actively tried to influence an election in this manner, analysts said. (Read more)

- Father God, help us separate truth from fiction. We pray for integrity and cyber protection throughout our entire government system, including political parties, for the benefit of the safety and security of our people. We ask this, in Jesus' name, amen.

2. Clinton VP tapped pro-terror Muslim leader for immigration seat - IsraelNationalNews

Democratic Party's presumptive Vice Presidential nominee for just three days, yet the pick has already drawn fire from the pro-Israel community due in part to Kaine's robust support for the Iran nuclear deal, his boycott of Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's address to Congress in 2015, and his ties to a left-wing NGO.

Now, a controversial appointment made during his tenure as Governor of Virginia has raised new questions about Kaine's bona fides as a self-described "strongly pro-Israel Democrat".

In 2007, then-Governor Kaine appointed Esam Omeish, a Libyan-born physician and then-president of the Muslim American Society, to Virginia's Immigration Commission. This came despite Omeish's history of ties and expressions of support for radical Islam and Jihadist terrorism. (Read more)

3. Tim Kaine promises bill to legalize illegal immigrants in 'first 100 days' - Washington Times

A new Clinton administration would pursue a bill to legalize illegal immigrants in "the first 100 days" of her tenure, vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine told Spanish-language network Telemundo in an interview Monday, presenting a deep contrast with Republicans.

Mr. Kaine also predicted that House Republicans, who stopped President Obama's last bid for legalization in 2013, will reverse themselves next year and said House Speaker Paul D. Ryan will lead the GOP to embrace legalization.

"Paul Ryan and the other leaders of his party are going to understand that if they want a future for their party they are going to have to work together to find a solution to this," Mr. Kaine told "Noticias Telemundo," according to a transcript provided by the network. (Read more)

4. Democrats Struggle for Unity on First Day of Convention - New York Times

Mrs. Clinton, who had a hand in choosing the speakers, had hoped that the convention would be the picture of unity, in contrast to the Republican convention last week. Instead, she was reminded that many Americans, including some die-hard Democrats, do not like her or believe that she will bring significant change to the government.

The only speaker who brought the entire hall together in spellbinding fashion was Michelle Obama, who seemed to pour out feelings she had been keeping under wraps. She delivered an unusually pointed speech targeting Mr. Trump without mentioning him by name. (Read more)

5. Leaked DNC Documents Show Plans To Reward Big Donors With Federal Appointments - Daily Caller

Democratic National Committee documents recently released by WikiLeaks include spreadsheets and emails that appear to show party officials planning which donors and prominent fundraisers to provide with appointments to federal boards and commissions.

The documents, which were circulated among top DNC officials in April, could raise legal questions for the party, says Ken Boehm, the chairman of the National Legal and Policy Center, a government watchdog group.

"The disclosed DNC emails sure look like the potential Clinton Administration has intertwined the appointments to federal government boards and commissions with the political and fund raising operations of the Democratic Party," Boehm told The Daily Caller.

"That is unethical, if not illegal." (Read more)

6. Dem officials jeered, booed at convention opening; DNC apologizes over emails - Fox News

A remarkable scene unfolded Monday at the kickoff of the Democratic National Convention as Bernie Sanders supporters and other angry party members booed and jeered officials attempting to open proceedings - leading the presiding officer to scold delegates, "We are all Democrats, and we need to act like it."

The opening made clear that the party is far from united, despite the new DNC leadership offering an official apology to Sanders and the party, just as the convention was getting underway, for what it called "the inexcusable remarks made over email" by top officials that seemed to show a bias against Sanders.

The statement from incoming party leader, Donna Brazile, and six other officials, offered a "deep and sincere apology" and said the emails, leaked by WikiLeaks, "do not reflect the values of the DNC or our steadfast commitment to neutrality during the nominating process." (Read more)

7. Citations and heat injuries as DNC protests continue - Philly.com

Thousands of protesters filled Center City's streets Monday, chanting and singing in brutal heat and humidity, increasingly outraged over an email hack that they said revealed the Democratic National Convention had worked to deny Bernie Sanders the nomination.

Outside the Wells Fargo Center, dozens climbed calmly over police lines and were placed in zip-tie handcuffs by bicycle officers, as dozens more pressed close in the stifling heat to film them. (No arrests were made; 54 people received citations for disorderly conduct.) For three hours, police shut down the southbound lines of the nearby subway station to all but credentialed convention-goers. (Read more)

2. 500 Israelis and Palestinians converge in Tel Aviv to talk peace - Jerusalem Post

"Ma'aleh Adumim is not going anywhere unless the Israeli government changes. This is the best answer I can give right now," stated an Israeli participant to a frustrated group of Palestinians at a "public negotiating congress" Friday in Tel Aviv.

Huddled under 17 canopies along Tel Aviv's Rothschild Boulevard, some 250 Israelis and 250 Palestinians discussed and debated solutions to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The event, hosted by the NGO Minds of Peace, sought to involve the public in peacemaking by establishing "Israeli- Palestinian public negotiating congresses," according to the NGO's website. (Read more)

4. Netanyahu Likely to Accept U.S. Defense Aid Conditions as Talks Enter Final Round - HAARETZ

Acting National Security Adviser Jacob Nagel is expected to take part in a decisive round of talks in Washington this week on a military aid deal with the United States. Haaretz has learned that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is leaning toward giving in on a good many of his demands and accepting most of the American terms. These include a gradual phasing out of Israel's spending of one-fourth of the American aid on purchases from Israeli defense contractors.

A senior official in Washington who asked to remain anonymous because of the sensitivity of the matter said that Nagel is expected to meet at the White House with U.S. National Security Adviser Susan Rice immediately on the latter's return from China toward the end of the week. Rice has been coordinating the talks with Israel on the aid deal together with Yael Lempert, who heads the White House's Israel desk. (Read more)

5. Palestinians gear up to sue the UK - over 1917 Balfour Declaration - Times of Israel

The Palestinian Authority is preparing a lawsuit against the British government over the issuing of the 1917 Balfour Declaration that paved the way for the creation of the State of Israel.

The PA's Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki told Arab League leaders gathered in Mauritania Monday that London is responsible for all "Israeli crimes" committed since the end of the British mandate in 1948.

Signed by British Foreign Secretary Lord Arthur James Balfour in 1917, the declaration was seen as giving the Zionist movement official recognition and backing on the part of a major power, on the eve of the British conquest of the then-Ottoman territory of Palestine. (Read more)

1. Priest murdered during Mass in terror attack on Catholic church in France - Fox News

Two knife-wielding attackers who had pledged allegiance to ISIS, shouting "Allahu Akbar," slit the throat of an 86-year-old priest and critically wounded at least one other person during a Tuesday morning terror attack on a Catholic church near the Normandy city of Rouen, officials said.

The terrorists, who were later shot and killed by police, forced priest Jacques Hamel to kneel before they slaughtered him, and the Islamist attackers captured the bloody episode on film, according to a nun who escaped the assault.

"They forced him to his knees. He wanted to defend himself. And that's when the tragedy happened," said the nun, identified as Sister Danielle. (Read more)

- Father, today we are all weeping for France, and for the residents of this sweet village in Normandy and those who attend this church. Abba Father God, only You can put an end to this senseless violence . . . only You, dear Jesus. Today we rest in the arms of Your love, asking that You once again comfort all who mourn. In Your name, amen.

- "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." (Matthew 5:4)

2. Florida nightclub shooting: Two dead and 16 injured in Fort Myers - BBC

Two people have been killed and up to 16 more injured in a shooting at a nightclub in the Florida city of Fort Myers, police say. The attack happened around 00:30 (04:30 GMT) on Monday at Club Blu, which was reportedly hosting a party for teenagers. Three people have been arrested. (Read more)

- Loving Heavenly Father, to answer the Call of THE GREAT COMMISSION Jesus spoke about, (Matthew 28:18-20) we do realized that unless we do far better than the Pharisees in the matters of right living, and begin to, or continue in this right living, we will not be of any good influence to a corrupt and dying world. We do need Your help in these matters of right living, so that we can pass them along to the NOW GENERATION and those that are to come. We ask for Your forgiveness of falling short in living out our daily lives for Your Namesake and Glory. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

- "And why do you call Me, "Lord, Lord," and do not do what I say." (Luke 6:46)

3. Sanders backers plan convention protests, adding to chaotic kick-off - Fox News

The Democrats begin Day One of their convention Monday still facing the potential for rowdy protests from Bernie Sanders' delegates and supporters, despite the ouster of Democratic National Committee leader Debbie Wasserman Schultz serving as a peace offering to liberal factions of the party that have accused her of tipping the scales for Hillary Clinton.

Sanders supporters were angry over leaked emails that show the Florida congresswoman and her team blasting Sanders and discussing ways to undermine him. (Read more)

- Lord God, last week it seemed that the delegates at the RNC Convention in Cleveland were at odds with each other, and now the Democrats are following suit. The issues are different, but the outcome is the same. We ask for peace and unity for both camps, so that there would be one clear voice and message on both sides of the aisle, and that the American people can then choose wisely. We bind chaos and loose order, in Your name, amen.

- Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: "Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall." (Luke 11:17)

4. FBI Investigates DNC Hacking; Clinton Campaign Blames Russia - AP

The FBI said Monday it is investigating how thousands of Democratic National Committee emails were hacked, a breach that Hillary Clinton's campaign maintains was committed by Russia to benefit Donald Trump.

A statement from the FBI confirmed that it is "investigating a cyber intrusion involving the DNC," adding that "a compromise of this nature is something we take very seriously."

Wikileaks posted emails Friday that suggested the DNC was favoring Clinton over her rival Sen. Bernie Sanders during the primary season. Clinton's campaign pointed to a massive hacking of DNC computers in June that cybersecurity firms linked to the Russian government. (Read more)

5. Carson: Level of corruption in politics is overwhelming - Fox News

Editor's note: Dr. Carson's remarks are recorded on this video clip.

- Father, we thank You for the calm voice of Dr. Ben Carson, who still is speaking truth in a very challenging mission field: politics. We ask that the public hear his words and take heed as they prepare to go to the polls in November, and that Your Hand would continue to rest upon this gentle man in the days ahead. Amen.

- "These are the things which you should do: speak the truth to one another; judge with truth and judgment for peace in your gates." (Zech. 8:16)

6. Trump cobbles together odd alliance of evangelical, LGBT voters - CBCNews (Canada)

If political observers needed further proof that Donald Trump is a truly unconventional candidate, look no further than the disparate names who have thrown their support behind the Republican presidential nominee after a raucous week in Cleveland.

Two of the top leaders in the evangelical Christian community - men who were only recently avowed skeptics of the Presbyterian tycoon - have dropped their opposition and are calling on their flock to vote for Trump after being charmed by the billionaire businessman, and his children, at the GOP convention.

But so, too, did some big-name gay voters who have been sitting on the sidelines.

Trump's new evangelical backers are Family Research Council leader Tony Perkins and James Dobson, the founder of the lobby group Focus on the Family. Both said Thursday that Trump is their guy because he stands between Hillary Clinton and the Oval Office. . . (Read more)

- Father, there is an old saying that goes: "Politics makes for strange bedfellows." Lord God, we seem to be in that place in this hour in our nation. Help us, O Lord, to not cave into our own convictions, even as we each choose for whom we will vote in November. Let grace and mercy be the theme of this year's election, instead of rancor and bitter words. Help us, O Lord, we pray, amen.

- "So he cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a tree. When he cast it into the waters, the waters were made sweet." (Exodus 15:25)

7. Congressman calls Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria 'termites'
- World Israel News

Rep. Hank Johnson, a Democratic member of the House Armed Services Committee, compared residents of Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria to "termites," the Washington Free Beacon reported.

Speaking in Philadelphia at a Democratic National Convention event sponsored by the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, an organization that promotes Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against the Jewish state, the congressman from Georgia stated: "There has been a steady [stream], almost like termites can get into a residence and eat before you know that you've been eaten up and you fall in on yourself, there has been settlement activity that has marched forward with impunity and at an ever-increasing rate to the point where it has become alarming." According to Johnson, "Jewish people" routinely steal land and property from Palestinians.

Cynthia McKinney, a former member of the House of Representatives, on Sunday posted on Twitter that Israel was complicit in the recent terror attacks in Nice and Munich. Also a Democrat from Georgia, she based her libelous allegation on the fact that an Israeli photographer was present at both incidents. (Read more)

- Father God, we pray that Representative Johnson and former Representative McKinney would repent and apologize for maligning Israel. Help them see the truth of this situation and not repeat this slander. Lord God, we lay axe to the root of any anti-semitism that is present in our U.S. House of Representatives, and ask You to cleanse and restore that chamber, according to Your perfect will. In Your name, amen.

- ". . . an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks." (Luke 6:45)

"Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34)

8. Muslim Scholars Worldwide Declare Erdogan To Be The Supreme Leader For The Entire Muslim World - Shoebat.com

After the failed coup in Turkey, a crucial letter of allegiance granted to Erdogan by all Muslim scholars globally was sent from none other than Sheikh Yusuf Qaradawi, president of the World Federation of Muslim Scholars. Qaradawi represents all Sunni Muslim scholars globally. He even tweeted some of its contents. The excerpts from this letter was shared in every media in the Middle East. From the Arab world to Turkey, every Arabic speaking media covered it with zero mention in the West. It consists of what many viewed as a direct command from heaven itself to Erdogan declaring that "Allah" including "the angelic host" and "the saints" appointed Erdogan to be given allegiance by all Muslims including all Muslim scholars from all four corners of the globe . . . - Father, we thank You for our brothers and sisters who have converted from Islam, who alert the church of these events with prophetic implications. We pray for the Muslim peoples, that they would be delivered from darkness and come to Your wonderful Light.

9. Troops fear Obama rushing Mosul offensive to influence election - Washington Times

Some U.S. officers in Baghdad believe the Obama administration is rushing plans for a Mosul offensive so it takes place before the November presidential election, a retired general says.

Retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael D. Barbero said his contacts in Baghdad have relayed the concerns to him, fearing there is now an "artificial timeline" for what promises to be by far the toughest battle in the war against the Islamic State in Iraq.

Iraqi Security Forces, which has made strides since the U.S.-led coalition began retraining its troops, may not be sufficiently prepared for a rushed operation. The troops face the monumental task of capturing a city of almost 2 million citizens and up to 10,000 Islamic State fighters and their booby traps.

"There is tremendous concern that Washington is going to press for a Mosul operation to commence before the November election," Mr. Barbero told The Washington Times. "The concern is, will the conditions be set on the ground by then, and I don't think so." (Read more)

- Father, we stand in the gap on behalf of our men and women in uniform in Iraq, and we ask for their protection from an administration that might deploy them for political ends. We ask that any move against ISIS in Mosul be only in Your timing, and in Your will, in Your name, amen.

Hillary and her emails

There is a pattern with Hillary Clinton and her emails. First, she sets up a private unsecure email server in her home to which FBI investigators say that "possible hostile actors gained access," that she was "extremely careless" with top-secret documents, and that there was "evidence of potential violations of statues." Now, the Democratic Party's Chairman, Clinton's close friend, fellow socialist, and associate, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, is stepping down because of emails documenting that Clinton and Shultz conspired to undermine socialist Bernie Sanders' presidential campaign and post a fake Craigslist job ad depicting rival Donald Trump as a boss that sexually molests his female employees. What pattern?

This pattern indicates that Clinton is not qualified to be president because she continuously uses emails, which are able to be documented, to do things that she thinks are secret. She has placed America's national security in jeopardy with her careless violation of policies, procedures and laws. And she and her cohorts have exposed her campaign to the public, revealing the scurrilous details of how dirty politics is played. Just a reminder for those Christians who claim that they cannot in good conscience vote for Trump: not voting or voting for a third candidate may make one feel like they have stayed their "principles," but in reality this is a vote for Clinton.

There is, however, even a greater pattern. Clinton's scandals are too numerous to list in this Daily Jot. Her choice of a running mate is also embroiled with scandal. Vice Presidential choice, Tom Kaine, has been investigated for receiving lavish gifts from those hoping to gain his favor while he was Lt. Governor and Governor of Virginia. Kaine also is in lock-step with Clinton in advancing radical Islam. As governor, he appointed Muslim American Society President Esam Omeish to Virginia's Immigration Commission. The Muslim American Society, according to federal prosecutors, was "founded as the overt arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in America." He was also head of the Muslim Students Association and served on the Islamic Society of North America's board-all named co-conspirators in the 2008 Holy Land terror funding trial.

There is no "Yeah, but they do it, too" argument for this repeated behavior that lacks character. It is a lifelong pattern of Hillary Clinton and she chooses people who have the same lack of character and honesty. As Christ said in Matthew 7:15-16, "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. You shall know them by their fruits." While Clinton is no prophet, she is coming to the American public in sheep's clothing, and her track record is that of a ravenous wolf. We can recognize her by her fruits. The Democratic Party seems to attract candidates who are counter to traditional American values. Their emails and their actions have recognizable patterns.

Hillary-Kaine: All things Muslim

Hillary Clinton's running mate Tim Kaine is reported by the Washington Times as promising a bill to legalize all illegal immigrants in the first 100 days of a new Clinton Administration. Now this would most certainly include all the radicals, would-be terrorists and criminals so important to the Democratic Party's strategy of "remaking" America into the newest communistic society. But even more radical will be the continuation of the terrorist group Muslim Brotherhood as a foreign policy partner and organizer of all things Muslim in the new Clinton Administration. Both Clinton and Kaine have long-time ties with Muslim Brotherhood activists, signaling a pattern to America that Islam will remain front and center under Clinton.

Clinton's right hand woman is Huma Abedin. Abedin's brother, mother, and deceased father are all confirmed to have leadership ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. This assists in connecting the dots between the current Administration's assistance of the Muslim Brotherhood in government takeovers in Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, Yeman, and now Syria, where the Muslim Brotherhood in 2012 funded a military arm to help topple the Assad regime. The Muslim Brotherhood is using the facade of democracy to gain Western support as it works to reestablish the Caliphate. The Democratic National Convention hosed a "Juma" in 2012, a congregational prayer of all adult Muslim males. No word yet on this year.

Tim Kaine also has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. Breitbart reports, "He appointed a Hamas supporter to a state immigration commission; spoke at a dinner honoring a Muslim Brotherhood terror suspect; and received donations from well-known Islamist groups." Breitbart documents that In 2007, Kaine was the Governor of Virginia and, of all people, chose Muslim American Society (MAS) President Esam Omeish to the state's Immigration Commission. In the 2008 Holy Land Foundation trial, federal prosecutors named MAS as an overt arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in America. Omeish is also an officer of the Muslim Students Association, the Islamic Society of North America, and Dar al Hijra Islamic Center-where al Qaeda operative Anwar Al Awlaki is Imam. This is a terrorist front.

Uncovered in that Holy Land terrorist funding trial was a 1991 Muslim Brotherhood plan to colonize America by creating a "Civilization Jihad" on all fronts of society. Abedin, Omeish and many others associated with Clinton and Kaine are rooted in this philosophy. It has been the philosophy of the White House during the entire tenure of the current Administration. Clinton supported the Muslim Brotherhood as Secretary of State, has a top aide born from the Muslim Brotherhood, and has picked a running mate with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. Christ said in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." Does anyone believe that this influence will not continue?

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Christian Students in Pakistan Face 'Victimization and Religious Persecution' at School

The Punjab government in Pakistan has launched an inquiry into allegations that Christian students are coming under pressure to convert to Islam.

Last year, leaders of Pakistan's Christians petitioned the nation's Supreme Court to end discrimination against minorities in the education system.

Peter Jacob, a Catholic who heads the Centre for Social Justice, said: "It is necessary to inform the Supreme Court of hate speech against religious minorities in Pakistan present in textbooks and highlight the discrimination in the education system."

Earlier this year, the Pakistan Minorities Teacher's Association also called upon Chief Justice of Pakistan to look into the victimisation of non-Muslim students.

Songs Our Grandmothers Sang:

IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL

"Praise the Lord, O my soul." (Psalm 146:1)

Lyrics

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll; Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say, It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Refrain

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come, Let this blest assurance control, That Christ has regarded my helpless estate, And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

Refrain

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole, Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

Refrain

For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live: If Jordan above me shall roll, No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.

Refrain

But, Lord, 'tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait, The sky, not the grave, is our goal; Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord! Blessèd hope, blessèd rest of my soul!

Refrain

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight, The clouds be rolled back as a scroll; The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend, Even so, it is well with my soul.

A Big Win against Birth Control Mandate

(Washington, DC)-[CBN News] A federal judge ruled Thursday that forcing insurers to include birth control coverage despite their conflicting religious convictions is unconstitutional.

The case addresses a section of Obamacare that requires insurers to pay for birth control.

Missouri Sen. Paul Wieland, R-Imperial, and his wife filed a lawsuit arguing that being forced to pay for birth control coverage violates their Catholic faith. They cited the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which says the federal government cannot "substantially burden" religious rights unless the law is the least restrictive means to further a compelling government interest.

U.S. District Judge Jean C. Hamilton agreed, saying the federal government cannot legally compel Wieland and his wife to pay for birth control coverage.
