A Weekend of Terror

A Weekend of Terror

> > > This past weekend, we have seen "lone wolf" style terror attacks erupt in three states: New Jersey, New York, and Minnesota. For all the headlines below, which site details for each one, please pray that all hidden things be revealed about these "lone wolves," and claim PSALM 91 over all. Thank you.

The eternal God is your refuge, And underneath are the everlasting arms; He will thrust out the enemy from before you, And will say, 'Destroy!' (Deuteronomy 33:27)

1. Pipe bomb explodes near Seaside Park Semper Fi 5K Charity Run; several devices left in garbage can - PIX11

SEASIDE PARK, N.J. - Seaside Park was placed on lockdown Saturday morning after a pipe bomb-styled device exploded in a garbage can near the Seaside Park Semper Fi 5K Charity Run route.

The device exploded about 9:30 a.m. at D Street and Ocean Avenue, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Spokesman Al Della Fave.

"The New Jersey state police bomb squad has moved in and got a closer look. They found that there was one pipe bomb-styled device that went off that was actually connected to several other devices," Della Fave said Saturday afternoon.

The other devices did not go off and bomb technicians have "rendered safe" the items. No one was injured and no structures were damaged. (Read more)

Reuters) - A man who stabbed nine people at a mall in central Minnesota before being shot dead is a "soldier of the Islamic State," the militant group's news agency said on Sunday, as the FBI investigated the attack as a potential act of terrorism.

The man, who was wearing a private security uniform, made references to Allah and asked at least one person if they were Muslim before he assaulted them at the Crossroads Center mall in St. Cloud on Saturday, the city's Police Chief William Blair Anderson told reporters.

Authorities declined to identify the suspect, who was killed by an off-duty policeman, because the investigation was under way.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation considers the incident a "potential act of terrorism," Richard Thornton, FBI special agent in charge of the agency's Minneapolis division, told a news conference on Sunday. (Read more)

4. Explosion in New York City believed to be 'intentional,' mayor says; 29 injured - Fox News

An explosion that injured at least 29 people in New York City late Saturday appeared to be "intentional," Mayor Bill de Blasio announced, as sources told Fox News a second device -- a pressure cooker -- was found four blocks away.

"Tonight, New York City experienced a very bad incident," de Blasio said at a news conference near the scene in Chelsea. "We have no credible and specific threat at this moment."

De Blasio tried to calm any fears among nervous New Yorkers, saying the explosion had no terrorist connection and wasn't related to a pipe bomb explosion at a charity run in New Jersey earlier Saturday

The blast, which happened at around 8:30 p.m. on West 23rd Street in the city's Chelsea neighborhood, appeared to originate from a construction toolbox in front of a building, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press. A garbage can was found mangled nearby. (Read more)

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said Sunday that residents should expect to see a heightened presence of police as the investigation continues into the bombing in Chelsea that injured 29 and the start of the United National General Assembly, which draws leaders from around the world.

"Now for all New Yorkers, a central message we want to give today is be vigilant," de Blasio said during a news conference. "Be vigilant at this point in time, not just because of this incident, be vigilant because we're going into United Nations General Assembly week."

The Democratic mayor added that those in the city will see a "a very substantial" police presence this week which he described as "bigger than ever."

"We would normally have an expanded presence for the United Nations General Assembly," de Blasio said. "You will see an even stronger presence now." (Read more)

Both bombs appeared designed to create maximum chaos and fatalities - they also provided a trove of clues even as any suspects remained unnervingly at large. (Read more)

4. Report: Archaeologists are Scientifically Proving the Jewish People's Connection to Jerusalem - Bridges for Peace

In recent years the "victim" Palestinian rhetoric pushed by the likes of the Boycott, Divest and Sanctions (BDS) movement and peddled by the global media has turned many around the world into skeptics raising a doubtful eyebrow regarding a Jewish connection to the Land of Israel.

During the past five years the Palestinian Authority (PA) has been hard at work touting the "Judaization of Jerusalem" libel, an initiative that aims to erase and deny all traces of Jewish history in Israel's capital. Since Jews have no connection to Jerusalem, the slander claims, all Israeli actions within its borders constitute "Judaization," a dedicated attempt to erase the city's alleged Palestinian character in favor of a Jewish identity. 9. Archaeologists Discover Site of Famous Biblical Battle - Christian Headlines

Archaeologists in Israel have discovered what they believe to be the site of a biblical city mentioned in the story of David and Goliath.

Charisma News reports that the two-gated city is thought to be around 3,000 years old. Its modern name is Khirbet Qeiyafa and it is in Israel's Elah Valley. Archaeologists believe the city was referenced in the Old Testament and that its name during biblical times was Sha'arayim, which is Hebrew for "two gates." The city is mentioned in 1 Samuel 17: 52 which says, "And the men of Israel and Judah rose with a shout and pursued the Philistines as far as Gath and the gates of Ekron, so that the wounded Philistines fell on the way from Shaaraim as far as Gath and Ekron." The Daily Brief

Please note:
Every prayer below is presented to our Lord in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.

1. Congress Investigating Obama Admin-Funded Campaign to Unseat Israeli PM - Washington Free Beacon

State Department purged emails about $300,000 grant to anti-Netanyahu group

Congress on Friday launched a wide-ranging probe into a secret Obama administration-funded campaign to unseat Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to information exclusively obtained by the Washington Free Beacon. The probe comes on the heels of an internal government report determining that the State Department provided hundreds of thousands to an organization that plotted to unseat Netanyahu in the country's 2015 election.

Obama administration officials were found to have deleted emails from State Department accounts containing information about its relationship with OneVoice, the non-profit group that led the effort. OneVoice, which was awarded $465,000 in U.S. grants through 2014, has been under congressional investigation since 2015, when it was first accused of funneling some of that money to partisan political groups looking to unseat Netanyahu. This type of behavior by non-profit groups is prohibited under U.S. tax law. (Read more)

- Father God, we stand in the gap for our nation and we repent that our tax dollars have been used for such a wicked agenda. We thank You that Congress is now investigating this matter, and we ask that those who worked in and through the OneVoice initiative be held accountable and be punished for this illegal action. We ask this in Your name, amen.

- "God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap." (Gal. 6:7)

2. US Special Forces join Turkish troops in Syria - CNN

Up to 40 US Special Operations Forces are accompanying Turkish troops as they clear ISIS from northern Syria, two US officials told CNN Friday. The new mission, dubbed "Operation Noble Lance," was authorized this week and is now underway, the officials added. "US Special Operations Forces have been approved to accompany Turkish and vetted Syrian opposition forces as they continue to clear territory" from ISIS, Pentagon spokesman Marine Maj. Adrian J.T. Rankine-Galloway said in a statement Friday. According to Rankine-Galloway, the US personnel will be conducting the same type of advising, assisting and training missions that the US had been providing to moderate opposition and anti-ISIS Kurdish and Arab fighters like the Syrian Democratic Forces.

The latest mission could also help ensure that Turkish troops and their Syrian allies do not come into conflict with other US-backed groups in Syria, such as the Syrian Democratic Forces. The Turkish government considers the Kurdish elements comprising that force to be terrorists, while the US sees the Kurdish fighters as key to efforts to combat ISIS. Clashes between the two groups took place at the start of the Turkish incursion into Syria, and the US has since helped oversee an informal arrangement under which Turkish and Kurdish forces will operate on opposite sides of the Euphrates River. (Read more)

- Father, we ask You to be with our US Special Forces troops and provide everything they need as they assist in the fall of ISIS. When our troops go into these nations that have no respect for any life, we ask You to go before them and give them great discernment in knowing who is evil and who is not. Set a trap for anyone who would cause them harm and post Your warrior angels over all our troops anywhere they are in the world.

We thank You, Lord for all our military. If there are those who do not know You, reveal Yourself to them so that they may be saved. Let our troops bring light into a dark world so that others may come to know You, Jesus. Allow them to know and see who the real enemy is so that they can protect themselves from evil.

We ask peace over their loved ones while they are away in hostile territory. Jesus, meet their every need. Father, there are so many different troops fighting, we need Your guidance as we speak life and strength into our troops and those others who are fighting for protection and freedom from the clutches of ISIS. Take ISIS down, Lord as we watch Your plan in action. We give to You our praise! AMEN.

- "It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed." (Deut. 31:8)

3. U.S. tells Russia no joint targeting unless aid flows to Syria - Reuters

The United States told Russia on Friday it will not set up a committee to enable joint targeting of militants in Syria until humanitarian aid begins to flow to the besieged city of Aleppo and other areas, the State Department said. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry delivered the message in a telephone call with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during which he emphasized that Washington expects Moscow to use its influence on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad "to allow UN humanitarian convoys to reach Aleppo and other areas in need," State Department spokesman John Kirby said in a statement.

Aid for Aleppo was stuck on the Turkish border on the fifth day of a fragile ceasefire on Friday with rival factions arguing over how the supplies are to be delivered and violence increasingly undermining the truce.

"The secretary made clear that the United States will not establish the Joint Implementation Center with Russia unless and until the agreed terms for humanitarian access are met," Kirby said, referring to a U.S.-Russian agreement reached a week ago. Under that agreement, a cessation of hostilities was slated to begin on Monday, unfettered humanitarian aid was to flow to Syria and, if both of those conditions were met for seven days, the United States and Russia were to set up a joint committee to coordinate strikes against the Islamic State and the Nusra Front militant groups, both of which are excluded from the ceasefire. (Read more)

- Lord God, we ask that the Russians would heed this wisdom, in Your name, amen.

- "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven." (Matthew 18:19)

4. Saudi official warns Iran: Attack us at your own risk - Jerusalem Post

A senior Saudi official, responding to Iranian criticism of Riyadh's management of the haj pilgrimage, urged Iran to end what he called wrong attitudes towards Arabs and warned it against any use of force in its rivalry with the kingdom.

Mecca province governor Prince Khaled al-Faisal, in remarks likely to be seen as a reference to Iran, added that the orderly conduct of the pilgrimage this year "is a response to all the lies and slanders made against the kingdom."

The remarks carried by the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Wednesday evening follow an escalating war of words between Shi'ite Muslim Iran and Sunni Saudi Arabia since a crush at the annual haj pilgrimage a year ago in which hundreds of pilgrims, many of them Iranians, died. (Read more)

- Lord God, the sects of Islam are at it again: threatening each other with various forms of annihilation in order to get what they want . . . and to "keep the peace." Abba Father God, these relationships boil down to a "Mexican standoff" and cannot last forever. We thank You that, in Your time, the world of Islam will implode upon itself, and those who remain will find their way to the Rock of our salvation, in Your name, amen.

- "For their rock is not like our Rock, as even our enemies concede." (Deut. 32:31)

5. ISIS' deadliest ally has started fighting itself - Business Insider

After pledging loyalty to ISIS in 2015, Boko Haram, also designated as the "West Africa Province" by ISIS, embarked on a new campaign headed by Shekau. But the extreme violence and tactics of Shekau made even ISIS' leaders express their disappointment. Accusing the Muslim "establishment" of corruption and "perverting" Islam, Boko Haram under Shekau had sent children suicide bombers on missions to mosques and crowded markets. Those who refused to join Shekau's cause were considered legitimate targets - including Muslims.

Shekau's strategy didn't go unnoticed by ISIS leaders. In the August edition of their newspaper, ISIS referred to another Boko Haram commander: Abu Musab al-Barnawia, as the new "governor" of Boko Haram while simultaneously making no mention of Shekau. Meanwhile, the displaced Shekau accused his successor of apostasy, and claimed that ISIS head Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi had been deceived.

As far as the effects of the fracturing go, Yaroslav Trofimov of The Wall Street Journal writes that it could signal a weakening of the organization in the interim. This, in addition to the advances of regional forces supported by European and US advisors, may turn the tide against Boko Haram. (Read more)

- Hallelujah, Jesus, We thank you for this great news that Isis and Boko Haram are now fighting against each other. You have confused the enemies in their own camps! We ask You to continue to destroy those who exalt themselves with pride and greediness. Open their eyes, Jesus, to Your truth and let them receive salvation. When the murmerings start within their ranks, the walls will not hold. In Your name, amen!

- Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, " Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, every city or household divided against itself will not stand."
(Matthew 12:25)

6. Franklin Graham Responds to ACC Tournament Move Out of North Carolina - BGEA

On Wednesday, the Athletic Coast Conference announced it would move its December ACC Championship football game out of Charlotte, North Carolina. The move is a reaction to the HB2 law that protects women and children in bathrooms, dressing rooms and locker rooms.

Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, responded to the move, writing this letter to ACC Commissioner John D. Swofford with a copy sent to the presidents of its 15 member schools: (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, in view of the words of Franklin Graham,"I think I represent the views of millions who would rather preserve gender-specific public bathrooms - a mainstay for generations - than to attend a football game in my state to determine the champion of a conference governed by politically-correct, morally hypocritical academics." WE DO AGREE!

Thank You, Abba Father, for protecting our women and children from this evil sordid fate. May many more leaders in our nation arise and become a voice that reflect the moral code of decency and order, in Jesus name we pray.

- "And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the Lord our God, as He hath commanded us." (Deuteronomy 6:25)

7. Freedom of Religion or Belief 'the Defining Issue of Our Time' - Christian Headlines

Over 100 parliamentarians from 60 countries met this week in Berlin for a series of workshops and seminars under the title, "An Embattled Right: Protecting and Promoting Freedom of Religion of Belief." The second conference of this size after last year's meeting in New York, it was organised by the International Panel of Parliamentarians for Freedom of Religion or Belief (IPPFoRB) and hosted by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

IPPFoRB is an informal network of parliamentarians and legislators from around the world committed to combatting religious persecution and advancing freedom of religion or belief, as defined by Article 18 of the UN Universal Declaration for Human Rights:

"Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance."

"Make no mistake, with 74% of the world's population living in countries with high or very high restrictions or hostilities, freedom of religion or belief is an embattled right and the defining issue of our time." (Read more)

- Lord God Almighty, there is nothing too difficult for You, absolutely nothing, as we see the advancement of Religious Freedom gaining momentum where victims of persecution, on many occasions violently so, were once restricted from practicing and living out their Faith. Although, we've a way to go, these boldmMen And women have charted a course that we pray many other leaders will follow. In Jesus name, we ask and call out for the human rights of all men everywhere to be acknowledged and accepted, and ask for a quick turn around on these issues. Amen.

- "Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you." (Jeremiah 32:17)

8. Southern Taiwan Reels from Super Typhoon Meranti's Devastation
- NBC News

The storm, registered as a super typhoon before losing strength after sweeping across southern Taiwan, made landfall in the early hours near the major city of Xiamen. Dozens of flights and train services have been canceled, state television said, disrupting travel at the start of the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.

Pictures on state media showed flooded streets, fallen trees and crushed cars in Xiamen as rescuers in boats evacuated people. About 320,000 homes were without power in Xiamen. Across the whole of Fujian province, where Xiamen is located, 1.65 million homes had no electricity. Tens of thousands of people had already been evacuated as the storm approached and fishing boats called back to port. One person died and 38 were injured in Taiwan, the Central Emergency Operation Centre there said, as the typhoon hit the southern part of the island on Wednesday.

Meranti was a Category 5 typhoon, the strongest classification awarded by Tropical Storm Risk storm tracker, before it made landfall on the mainland and has since been downgraded to Category 2. (Read more)

- El Elyon, Most Highly and Exalted God, we seek Your mercies towards the masses of residents of Taiwan and China who have had this devastating blow from this Mega Storm System that has suddenly emerged. We pray in Jesus name, that major leaders would use wisdom marked with compassion, as they go forth to put things back in some kind of order.

We cry out to You in hopes that the missing would be located, and that shelter and necessities for daily living would become available to all of them. Father, we ask that sickness and disease would not be a part of their sorrows. Our prayers include the First Responders being able to achieve complete and safe rescues in these devastated areas.

We pray that Your Name, Father God, would be in many hearts and on many lips crying out to You in their time of need. Oh Lord God, may they be so comforted by You in this very dark hour here on earth. In Your Name, amen.

- "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me You shall have peace. In this world you shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
(John 16:33)

9. Apocalyptic asteroid with power of 3 billion nukes may be headed for Earth - AOL.com

China's Purple Mountain Laboratory discovered the massive asteroid using Asia's largest telescope, determining the meteor was passing our planet with a range of 18.8 times the distance between the Earth and the moon -- aka, WAY too close for comfort.

The asteroid, named 2009ES, is one of over 1,600 asteroids known as "minor bodies" that are currently heading towards Earth, according to Chinese Academy of Science.

But scientists are keeping a close eye on 2009ES as just a minor change in its flight path could have catastrophic consequences for the human race, due to its sheer mass.

Scientists believe an asteroid similar in size was responsible for the demise of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago, so you might as well rest easy tonight knowing that whether it's coming for us or not, there's absolutely nothing you can do. (Read more)

- Lord God, we need to pray. We see that this report states that "a minor change in its flight path could have catastrophic consequences for the human race," so this news is no laughing matter. Abba Father God, by Your grace and by Your mercy, teach us to repent . . . and teach us to pray. We ask that You move this monster in another direction, rescuing all who live on this earth, in Your name, amen.

- "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." (Acts 2:38,39)

"But let all who take refuge in You be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread Your protection over them, that those who love Your name may rejoice in You." (Psalm 5:11)

10. Earth Vulnerable to Major Asteroid Strike, White House Science Chief Says - Space.com

The world is still vulnerable to a potentially catastrophic asteroid strike, according to President Barack Obama's chief science adviser.

NASA has made substantial progress in finding the asteroids that pose the biggest threat to Earth, but there's still a lot of work to do, said John Holdren, director of the White House's Office of Science and Technology Policy.

"We are not fully prepared, but we are on a trajectory to get much more so," Holdren said today (Sept. 14) at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, during a discussion of the agency's planned Asteroid Redirect Mission (ARM). . .

While smaller asteroids can do great damage on a local scale, experts think that space rocks must be at least 0.6 miles (1 km) wide or so to threaten human civilization. NASA scientists estimate that they have found at least 90 percent of these mountain-size, near-Earth asteroids, and none of them pose a threat for the foreseeable future.

But, Holdren said, "if we are going to be as capable a civilization as our technology allows, we need to be prepared for even those rare events, because they could do a lot of damage to the Earth." "This is a hazard that, 65 million years ago, the dinosaurs succumbed to," he added. "We have to be smarter than the dinosaurs." (Read more)

- Father, we thank You for the patience You have had with our world. Now the Chief Science adviser to the White House, John Holden, is saying that we would be vulnerable and not fully prepared if an asteroid would strike the earth. We know that this earth will cease in Your timing so we seek You for revelation of Your Word in this end-time matter. In Mark 4:30-41 Jesus said to them, "let us cross over to the other side." We see that a great windstorm arose and the waves beat against the boat and the disciples were afraid..

Dear God, thank You for showing us that we are Your children and we are in the time of crossing over to the other side with You. Now is the time to leave all sins and regrets behind and cross over with You guiding and leading us. There is no more time to hesitate. Father, help us to reach out to the lost in these days, and to rescue the perishing, as we can.

We know You are abiding somewhere in the quiet place of our hearts, teaching and preparing us for what is to come. You are with us as we walk with You while the enemy is coming against us like the wind and the waves, lashing against us with fury. We are not of this world anymore but have started crossing over into Your Kingdom . . . We take authority over this asteroid and just as You did with the waves we call out "Peace Be Still" as we walk calmly without fear. Whatever comes we win either way. Thy will, Father, be done and not our own! In Your Name, amen.

- "God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; Though its waters roar and foam, Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride." (Psalm 46: 1-3)

Exposing to light the extremist

Those who seek to protect the life of the unborn received some good news this week: Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump is naming a Pro-Life Coalition and is pledging to protect the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits government funding for abortions. This demonstrates leadership on the divisive issue of abortion as most campaigns distance themselves on controversy going into the last weeks of a campaign. Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will not duplicate the move because she ardently opposes any controls on abortion and seeks to use taxpayer money to support abortion provider Planned Parenthood and other government efforts that promote abortion.

Politically, the Trump campaign wants pro-life Christians to get out to vote. Many have made the unwise decision to either not vote or to vote for a third party candidate that has no chance of winning. These people would boost Hillary Clinton's vote total and may be a decisive block in swaying the election toward a non-Christian agenda of selection of leftist Supreme Court judges and continuing the anti-Christian environment established by the current Administration. Trump is doing his best to assure Christians that he means what he says regarding religious freedom and the inalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness found in the Declaration of Independence.

Clinton has been an extreme radical supporter of abortion. In accepting Planned Parenthood's endorsement in July, Clinton said, "I admire Margaret Sanger enormously. Her courage, her tenacity, her vision ... When I think about what she did all those years ago in Brooklyn, taking on archetypes, taking on attitudes and accusations flowing from all directions, I'm really in awe of her. There are a lot of lessons we can learn from her life, from the causes she launched and fought for and scarified for so greatly." Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, established the organization as an open supporter of Nazi sterilization laws, and proposed a federal law with abortion as the answer for Blacks who were "biologically unfit" and "should be so isolated as to prevent the perpetuation of their afflictions by breeding."

Those who are pro-life have a clear choice in this election. There is a candidate who has pledged to appoint conservative judges to the Supreme Court and will protect tax money from being used for abortions. There is another candidate who has vowed to appoint pro-abortion judges to the Supreme Court and wants to use your tax money for the Planned Parenthood death clinics. She also "admires" and is in "awe" of one of the most racist bigots in American history who can be directly linked to the deaths of over 45 million American babies in the womb. Still want to sit this one out? Jeremiah 2:34 says, "Also on your skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents: I have not found it by secret search, but plainly upon all these things." With what is at stake, I would not want to stand before my maker having not done all I could to prevent the extremist from prevailing.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Constitution Day: Celebration or Memorial?

Foremost among all our timeless documents is the U.S. Constitution and this week, we celebrate one of the signature events in the formation of the country, the day this important framework for our government was officially adopted. We must keep this and other historic moments a priority, honor and appreciate them, and above all, pass their "self-evident truths" to the next generation. Recently I heard "self-evident" defined as "any darn fool can understand it."

Now, more than ever, we need to both affirm and communicate that when our Founders penned the Declaration of Independence, crafted the Constitution, and carefully outlined the Bill of Rights, the role of faith and trust in the Creator remained vital to the process. There were no impassioned outcries calling for the removal of God from the affairs of men, no problems in setting aside the work of government to beseech God's wisdom and direction on bended knees, and no angst over publicly recognizing the Bible's influence in life and culture. On the contrary, our Founders and generations of American leaders since then have esteemed our Judeo-Christian heritage in advocating for and protecting religious liberties, or in other words, freedom of conscience. In many ways, the Constitution's first three words-We the People-affirm that the U.S. government primarily exists to serve its citizens.
On September 17, 1787, delegates to the Constitutional Convention met for the last time to sign the document they had created - a document that defined the supreme law of the United States, established the separation of powers, and safeguarded our most sacred freedoms. Congress later established September 17th as Constitution Day to commemorate the signing and to, "recognize all who, by coming of age or by naturalization, have become citizens."
My article, In God We Trust - The Heartbeat of America, described how most citizens continue to deny that religious persecution could ever happen in the United States, "Just a few short decades ago, most citizens also never envisioned an America where the Ten Commandments would be reviled in our courthouses, where businesses had to accept mandatory healthcare provisions that violate the conscience or the sanctity of life, where activist outcries are made over a humble nativity in a public park at Christmastime, valedictorians having their speeches scrubbed of all religious terminology and the list goes on." Read the full Special Section here.
Why are these issues so critical for us today? Because our First Amendment freedoms are being threatened as never before. Religious intolerance among groups such as the Secular Coalition of America, the Freedom from Religion Foundation, Atheist Alliance International, the Institute for Humanist Studies, and others, is resulting in attacks designed to remove every vestige of God from our culture, including the concept of moral absolutes, and religious freedom. There is a concerted effort on multiple fronts to isolate Christians and push faith out of the public arena, create laws by misguided legislators, and set legal precedents through rogue judges.
Our heritage is being slowly and systematically eroded in the heat of a shifting culture and the term "Freedom of Religion" is being redefined before our eyes in an attempt to restrict its expression exclusively within one's heart, home or place of worship. Christians are increasingly targeted, bullied, censored, and pilloried by the liberal press, often being mocked and derided on television and through film-characterized as out-of-touch, judgmental, homophobic, hatemongers, extremists . . . even "deplorable." The anti-God rhetoric in this country is reaching unprecedented levels and must not go unchallenged!
Let's continue to stand together once again in prayer just as these godly patriots rose up in unity of purpose at the birth of our nation. We encourage all Americans to observe this important day in U.S. history by celebrating Constitution Day in our homes and communities through activities, learning, parades, and other ways of demonstrating love for the country, as well as the blessings of freedom our Founding Fathers secured for us. The Constitution and all it represents is worth fighting for.
For Faith and Freedom,

Lea Carawan

The Persecuted Church:

Egypt: New Church Law Discriminates Against Christians

A long-awaited new law maintains restrictions over the construction and renovation of churches and discriminates against the Christian minority in Egypt. The law, passed by Egypt's parliament on August 30, 2016, applies only to Christian houses of worship.

Recent incidents of anti-Christian violence that left one person dead, several injured, and numerous properties destroyed were prompted or preceded by anger among some local Muslims over actual or alleged church construction. Even when authorities have made arrests, they have rarely prosecuted suspects, creating a climate of impunity for violent crimes that target Christians. (HRW.org) Read more.

Classic Hymns:

At The Cross

"Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross." (Colossians 2:14)

Lyrics

Alas, and did my Savior bleed? And did my Sovereign die? Would He devote that sacred head For such a worm as I?

Refrain

At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!

Was it for crimes that I had done, He groaned upon the tree? Amazing pity! grace unknown! And love beyond degree!

Refrain

Well might the sun in darkness hide, And shut his glories in, When Christ, the mighty Maker died, For man the creature's sin.

Refrain

But drops of grief can ne'er repay The debt of love I owe: Here, Lord, I give my self away 'Tis all that I can do.

Refrain

Florida sinkhole causes radioactive water to leak into aquifer

About 980 million litres of radioactive water have leaked into Florida's main underground source of drinking water, officials in the US state say. The leak occurred after a huge sinkhole opened up under a phosphate fertiliser plant near Tampa, damaging the stack where waste water was stored. The water contained phosphogypsum, a slightly radioactive by-product from the production of fertiliser.

The phosphate company Mosaic said the leak posed no risk to the public. It added the contaminated water had not reached private supplies and the firm was recovering it using pumps. "Groundwater moves very slowly," senior Mosaic official David Jellerson was quoted as saying by the Associated Press news agency.

However, Jacki Lopez, Florida director of the Center for Biological Diversity, told Reuters news agency: "It's hard to trust them when they say 'Don't worry,' when they've been keeping it secret for three weeks."

The sinkhole - about 45ft (14m) in diameter - at Mosaic's New Wales facility in the town of Mulberry was discovered by a company worker on 27 August. The sinkhole later caused the waste pond to drain, and the contaminated water has now seeped into the aquifer. Aquifers are massive underground systems of porous rocks that hold water. Christians To Unite In Texas For 'the Gathering' To Pray For The Nation

Christian leaders from across the country will unite in prayer next week at The Gathering, an ecumenical solemn assembly to ask God for forgiveness and seek His wisdom for spiritual transform in the nation. The Gathering is expected to draw thousands of believers together and will feature nationally-renowned Christian leaders and pastors from diverse churches and denominations who will be leading people in prayer for their families, churches and the country. The event will be open to the public at 7 p.m. on Sept. 21 at Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas.

Speakers at The Gathering will including the event's main organizer, Pastor Tony Evans of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, Pastors Greg Laurie and Ronnie Floyd, along with James Robison, Bishop Harry Jackson, Anne Graham Lotz, and the Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, among many others who can be seen here.

Rodriguez, who serves as president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, said in an interview wih The Christian Post on Wednesday that he's participating in The Gathering because he believes, as a nation, "We stand at the precipice of losing our religious liberties via the conduit of judicial activism and legislative initiatives that view our Judeo-Christian values system as a threat to advancing a morally relativistic worldview.

"Complacency is captivity, we must pray, preach and vote," he added.

The solemn assembly, according to The Gathering website, will focus on praying for four areas of change in Americans' lives: personal, families, communities and the nation.

"Whenever a solemn assembly or sacred gathering has been called in Scripture, it has usually been called by those in leadership - whether that be a priest, prophet or king - and it has usually been called for leadership first," the site adds. "Even in America, our historical records verify that prior to every national awakening, the spiritual leadership of the day has placed a heavy emphasis on gathering in smaller groups for fasting and prayer which then led to larger gatherings and greater change."
