4. Russia Deploys Advanced Missile Defense System on Israel's Doorstep - Bridges for Peace

On Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that it had sent a battery of S-300 air defense missile systems to the Syrian port city of Tartus to defend its naval base and warships.

The announcement comes after US officials told Fox News that Moscow had shipped state-of-the art SA-23 surface-to-air missiles to Israel's northern neighbor, claiming that the systems were set in place to deter any attack by the US or its coalition members, Ynet claims. The officials reportedly added that the installation of the S-300 and SA-23 systems on Syrian soil marks the weapons' first foreign deployment. (Read more)

- Intercede for Israel's leaders, specifically Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman and IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot. Pray that they will look to the God of Jacob to be Israel's refuge and strength and seek wisdom from Him during these tumultuous times when military super-powers are maneuvering in neighboring countries.

- "The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah." (Psalm 46:6-7)

5. Jerusalem Terror Cell Charged with Planning Attacks in Israel - Bridges for Peace

Six residents of Shuafat and 'Anata in East Jerusalem were indicted on Sunday for supporting ISIS. Some of them were also charged with trying to join the terror organization's ranks in Syria and with planning terror attacks in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

According to the indictment, which was filed by the Jerusalem District Attorney, during 2015 and until August 2016, the defendants worked both together and separately to support and join ISIS. They allegedly established a study group ("halaqah") that met several times every week to learn the terror organization's ideology.

During these study meetings, the members of the halaqah watched ISIS videos, including speeches by leaders of the terror group, reenactments of battles, acts of murder and reports from ISIS claiming to have taken over different areas. (Read more)

- Beseech the Lord on behalf of Israel's internal security forces who have the responsibility of identifying and arresting terrorists within the country. Pray that they will have accurate and timely information. Pray also for confusion to surround the enemies of God's people.

- "Let those be put to shame and brought to dishonor who seek after my life; let those be turned back and brought to confusion who plot my hurt." (Psalm 35:4)

[Prayer offered by Bridges for Peace]

6. Israel Intercepts Pro-Palestinian "Freedom" Flotilla Heading for Gaza - Bridges for Peace

Tensions on Israel's southern shores ran high last night as the Jewish state intercepted yet another "freedom flotilla" bound for the Gaza Strip in an illegal attempt to breach Israel's partial security blockade of the coastal enclave.

The Zaytouna-Oliva set sail from Barcelona for the Hamas-run strip in September with 13 women activists aboard. Yesterday morning the flotilla approached waters off the Gazan coast and the Israeli navy intervened, contacting the vessel with repeated requests to change direction and dock at the port of Ashdod further north. The activists refused and continued on their set course. Israel's navy boarded the flotilla at approximately 35 nautical miles [65 kilometers] off the coast of Gaza without incident and proceeded to tow the vessel to Ashdod.

"In accordance with government directives and after exhausting all diplomatic channels, the Israeli Navy redirected the vessel in order to prevent breach of the lawful maritime blockade," the Israel Defense Force (IDF) said in a statement.

"In accordance with international law, the Israeli Navy advised the vessel numerous times to change course prior to the action. Following their refusal the navy visited and searched the vessel in international waters in order to prevent their intended breach of the lawful maritime blockade of the Gaza Strip. The visit and search of the vessel was uneventful," the statement said. (Read more)

- Pray that the media will accurately portray the reason that Israel enforces a naval blockade of the Gaza Strip and not glorify those who try to break it under false pretenses. Give thanks that this ship was intercepted without incident.

- "A faithful witness does not lie, but a false witness will utter lies." (Proverbs 14:5)

[Prayer offered by Bridges for Peace]

7. Police on high alert in Jerusalem following attack and before Yom Kippur - Ynet News

The Israel Police continues its extensive preparation before Yom Kippur, as tensions rise following the deadly stabbing attack that took place Sunday, during which 1st Sgt. Yosef Karmia and Levana Malichi were killed.

Thousands of police officers have been stationed around the city, and as per usual during the High Holy Days, the Jerusalem District Police set up blockades along the border between east and west Jerusalem, intended to prevent terrorist attacks and provocations by Arab residents looking to incite violence. The Daily Brief

Please note:
Every prayer below is presented to our Lord in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.

1. North Carolina: Emergency Underway: 10 Dead, 1,500 Trapped in Floods - weather.com

Hurricane Matthew continued to wreak havoc on North Carolina on Monday, leaving 10 dead, 1,500 stranded by flooding and several counties under severe flooding threats, including a town of 2,000 that remains under a mandatory evacuation.

According to North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory, 1,500 people are stranded in Lumberton by flooding Monday morning. People are stranded on roofs and rescues are underway, the governor said during a press conference Monday morning.

Despite Matthew's exit, much of North Carolina remains under a threat of flooding and nearly half a million are without power as of 7 a.m. Monday, according to the state's department of public safety.

"Hurricane Matthew is off the map. But it is still with us. And it is still deadly," North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory said in a press conference Sunday. (Read more)

- Father, we repent that the mainstream media has not reported this disaster in North Carolina, where very lives are now at risk. We ask for Your divine assistance in this catastrophe, that you would strengthen all first responders by Your mighty hand. Have mercy, O Lord, we pray, amen and amen.

- "Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me, For my soul takes refuge in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge Until destruction passes by." (Psalm 57:1)

2. Almost 1.4 Million Without Power as Matthew Death Toll Rises - Bloomberg

Almost 1.4 million customers are still without power in the U.S. Southeast as Matthew brought hurricane-force wind gusts and flooding to the outer banks of North Carolina, where the storm left at least seven dead.

Close to 374,000 homes and businesses were still in the dark in Florida on Sunday, and more than 1 million had lost power in Georgia and North and South Carolina, as of 3:55 p.m. New York time. Duke Energy Corp. said it will need to rebuild sections of its electrical systems in the states after heavy damage.

Matthew has been downgraded from a hurricane to a post-tropical cyclone, and no further damage is expected as it moves east away from the coast.

Top winds of 75 miles (121 kilometers) per hour are expected to dwindle to between 30 and 40 mph by the afternoon as Matthew pulls farther away from the coast, allowing fuel terminals and pipelines to start returning to service. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we pray for restoration for those who have lost loved ones and property. May everyone impacted by this storm turn to You for help and comfort.

- "Then the LORD will appear over them, and His arrow will go forth like lightning; and the Lord GOD will blow the trumpet, and will march in the storm winds of the south." (Zachariah 9:14)

3. Neither Clinton Nor Trump Mentioned Islamic State Genocide of Christians in Debates - CNSNews.com

During the second presidential debate on Sunday, neither Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton or Republican nominee Donald Trump mentioned the ongoing genocide that the Islamic State is committing against Christians in Iraq and Syria.

While the term genocide has not been used in either of the presidential debates, both candidates have called the Islamic States actions against Christians in the Middle East genocide in the past year while on the campaign trail.

Clinton called ISIS atrocities against Christians "genocide" in response to a question by a New Hampshire voter in December. More recently, Trump outlined atrocities against Christians, calling for an end to the "campaign of absolute and total genocide" by ISIS when he unveiled his anti-terrorism plan in August. (Read more)

- Father God, the horrific atrocities now being committed against believers by ISIS are past our comprehension. Abba Father God, this IS indeed, genocide. We ask in Your name, that both of these candidates would begin to address this issue, with less than a month left now on the campaign trail. Let their voices be heard now, loud and clear across our nation in Your name, amen.

- ". . . they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted." (Job 34:28)

4. Pence: 'I Believe in Forgiveness' - CNSNews.com

GOP vice presidential nominee Mike Pence campaigned in Charlotte, N.C., Monday, telling supporters that his faith as a Christian "informs" him that "we're to hold up a godly standard" and that while he doesn't condone what GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump said in controversial remarks that that surfaced over the weekend, he believes in forgiveness and grace.

"As I said last weekend, I don't condone what was said, and I spoke out against it, but the other part of my faith is I believe in grace. I've received it. I believe in it. I believe in forgiveness, and we're called to forgive as we have been forgiven, and last night, my running mate, he showed the American people what was in his heart," Pence said. (Read more)

- Father, we too, forgive. Thank You for this statement by Mike Pence. May many heed his words. In Your name, amen.

- Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do."
(Luke 23:34)

> > > Please see also this statement made by Franklin Graham. Amen.

6. RNC chairman: We're fully behind Trump - The Hill

The Republican National Committee (RNC) is standing fully behind Donald Trump, chairman Reince Priebus said Monday in a private conference call.

Speaking to the 168 members of the RNC, Priebus sought to squash rumors that the national party would cut the nominee loose to focus on protecting GOP majorities in the House and Senate, according to a source on the call.

Trump is running a bare-bones campaign that is overly reliant on staff from the RNC, and a reallocation of resources to down-ballot races would effectively doom his campaign. (Read more)@@@@@@@@@@@ http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/300301-rnc-chairman-were-fully-behind-trump

- Father, we thank You that You have bound confusion off of this camp, and we loose Your spirits of grace, order, peace and self-control upon all who are working in this campaign. Amen.

- "But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No.' For whatever is more than these is from the evil one." (Matthew 5:37)

6. Final hearing for Christian woman facing execution for blasphemy in Pakistan - The Independent Co. UK

A Christian woman who has been facing execution in Pakistan for six years after being accused of blasphemy has been granted her final appeal. Pakistan's supreme court will hear the case of Asia Bibi, a mother-of-five from the rural village of Ittan Wali in Punjab, eastern Pakistan, who was convicted of blasphemy in 2010 after allegedly insulting the Prophet Muhamed during a row with other women over water.

All of Ms Bibi's appeals in the lower courts failed before the supreme court temporarily suspended her execution in July 2015 ahead of a fresh hearing now scheduled to be heard on 13 October. If her final appeal fails, Ms Bibi will be the first woman to be executed under the country's controversial blasphemy laws.

Critics of the laws, which have been condemned by the international community, have said they are being abused by people persecuting religious minorities or trying to settle petty local squabbles. (Read more)

- Oh, Lord, our hearts go out to this persecuted woman who is still standing strong for her faith. We pray that You will raise up a standard against this enemy of Yours that will stop the impending martyrdom of this mother of five. Lord, send the angels to aid her and deliver her from her persecutors and strongly discredit her accusers. Surround her with Your strong protection so that none will lay a hand on her and put the fear of God in the court.

- "The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined." (Psalms 10:2)

7. Two missiles fired from Yemen land near U.S. warship - USA Today

Two missiles fired from rebel-held territory in Yemen landed near a U.S. warship in the Red Sea, the U.S. Navy said Monday. Ian McConnaughey, a spokesman for U.S. Navy Forces Central Command, said it was unclear if the USS Mason - a guided missile destroyer - was specifically targeted, but the missiles were fired in its direction in the space of an hour from 7 p.m. local time Sunday.

The Navy said that no American sailors were injured and the warship was not damaged. Pentagon press secretary Peter Cook said the missiles appeared to have been fired from territory in southern Yemen controlled by Iran-backed Shiite rebels known as Houthis, the Wall Street Journal reported. The incident happened in international waters north of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait in the southern Red Sea, according to the WSJ. The Houthis denied targeting the warship. (Read more)

- Dear Lord, we thank You for Your protection for our ship and sailors during this attack; but, we pray that there will not be anymore firings on our ships in the future. We speak protection over our country's fleet and ask that Jesus, as the Prince of Peace, would be able to move on the factions involved in the conflict in Yemen. Lord, we do not forget the persecuted Christians in these Moslem countries and pray for them as well.

-"He rescues me unharmed from the battle waged against me, even though many oppose me." (Psalms 55:18)

8. Russia plans permanent navy base in Syria - CNN

Russia plans to expand its supply base in the Syrian port city of Tartus into a permanent naval base, Deputy Defence Minister Nikolai Pankov said on Monday, according to state news agency TASS.

"In Syria, we will have a permanent naval base in Tartus. The corresponding documents have been drafted. Currently they are in the process of inter-departmental coordination," said Pankov, during a meeting of Russia's Federation Council's international affairs committee. "The degree of readiness is rather high," he said, adding that he hoped to ask the committee to ratify the move soon.

Tartus lies on Syria's Mediterranean coast between Lebanon to the south, and Turkey to the north. Russia's naval facility in the port city -- its only base in the Mediterranean -- dates back to Soviet days. (Read more)

- Father, we continue to see shifting and realignment in our world. We pray this decision by Russia, if it is Your will, will help bring stability to the region, especially for Christians in Syria and for Israel.

- "How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world." (Psalm 31:19)

9. Meeting in Turkey, Putin and Erdogan Grow Warmer Toward Each Other - New York Times

Amid increasingly tense relations with the United States over Syria, President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia took advantage Monday of a routine meeting in Istanbul to advance the Kremlin's reconciliation with Turkey.

His appearance at an international energy conference was his first visit to Turkey since a crisis in relations between the countries after Turkey's downing of a Russian fighter jet along the border with Syria in November 2015, in which a Russian pilot was killed. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, nominally an ally of the United States in Syria, patched things up with a letter of apology and a trip to St. Petersburg in August. (Read more)

- Father God, we lift up the nations of Russia and Turkey to You. As the leaders cooperate, we pray for You to use them to accomplish Your will in the region.

- "The king's heart is like channels of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He wishes." (Proverbs 21:1)

10. China must wean itself off debt addiction if it is to avoid financial calamity, warns IMF chief - The Telegraph UK

China is edging towards "financial calamity" and must wean itself off its debt addiction and reform if it is to avoid a crisis, the International Monetary Fund has warned. Markus Rodlauer, deputy director of the IMF's Asia-Pacific department, said the world's second largest economy was approaching a tipping point where its rapidly growing financial sector and surge in shadow credit could undermine the state's ability to contain the fallout from a crash.

"The level of financial and corporate debt and the complexity of the financial system and rapid growth in shadow banking is on an unsustainable path," he said. "While still manageable in its size given the size of the public assets under public control, the trend is dangerous and if it's not corrected it will lead to a correction. (Read more)

- Father, we pray for the leaders of China to make wise decisions regarding debt and leveraging assets. Help them provide stability for their people and the region.

- "For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity." (Proverbs 2:6-7)

Sex and the election

Let's have a frank discussion about sex...and the election. In 1992, Jennifer Flowers saying she had a 12-year affair with Bill Clinton rocked the election. Clinton denied her claims, was later found to be lying about it and had to admit under oath that the two had sex. We all know that Clinton had a sex problem because that's his legacy. Interesting, that his wife, now Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, stood by her man and was relatively quiet about all the accusations of abuse, rape, and affairs that followed her husband throughout his career. Even more interesting is her reaction to an 11 year old tape of Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump talking graphically about his "sexcapades."

Clinton tweeted: "This is horrific. We cannot allow this man to become president." Meantime, Trump issued an apology, saying, "I've never said I'm a perfect person, nor pretended to be someone that I'm not. I've said and done things I regret, and the words released today on this more than a decade-old video are one of them. Anyone who knows me knows these words don't reflect who I am. I said it, I was wrong, and I apologize... I've said some foolish things, but there's a big difference between the words and actions of other people. Bill Clinton has actually abused women, and Hillary has bullied, attacked, shamed and intimidated his victims." Trump's got a point. Hillary is more outraged at Trump's words than her husband's actions. A double standard-one of great entitlement.

From my days in politics, I could tell you numerous stories about both Hillary and Bill and their sex romps. Bill Clinton is a whoremonger. Hillary Clinton is a lesbian or at least bi-sexual. This dates back to the late 1970s when I first started covering politics and really before the Clintons were a household name. The things I could recount are not fit to be published in The Daily Jot. In an exclusive interview with the UK Daily Mail published October 8, Jennifer Flowers said she wasn't surprised to hear the rumors that Hillary Clinton and Huma Abedin were lovers. Flowers said that Bill Clinton had admitted to her that Hillary had performed a certain sex act on more women than he had. Flowers said that Hillary Clinton was bi-sexual.

The Clinton's lifetime body of work has been spent denying scandals, murders, selling influence, and a host of other things exposed from the dark secrecy of the Clinton dynasty. These actions are denied without apology. Those exposing them are ridiculed, harassed or worse. And the Clintons behave like victims. Trump also has had a number of scandals, but he owns up to them, says he's not perfect, he was wrong, and apologizes. One of these people is going to be president. One blames others for their own scurrilous actions. One takes responsibility for his actions. Something to think about: Proverbs 28:13 says, "He that covers his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy. Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

So many divisions, so little time

The Pharisees tried to claim that Jesus was casting out devils by the power of the prince of devils. Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them in Matthew 12:25-26, "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand. And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?" It is in this example the very point that division results in destruction. And it is at this point where America stands today. It is divided. The enemies of America are succeeding in dividing our nation into little segments that cause confusion, anger, bitterness and more. We must attain clarity or we will face destruction.

There are those who have worked for centuries in causing this division. They are those who pit people against one another. They are those who instigate race issues, social issues, financial issues, religious issues and so on. They are those who point the finger at everyone else and accuse them of doing the very thing that they themselves are doing. The American ideal throughout history has been one of freedom of speech, religious expression, self-preservation and the pursuit of life. These are freedoms inspired by the Lord, for He is freedom. Yet the very ones who claim others are trying to take their "rights" away, are the ones who wish to place those very rights, those freedoms of others, in chains.

We tend to watch politics. We look at how Democrats and Republicans fight it out and unscrupulously exist to undermine one another with the very citizens they represent caught in the middle as pawns on a giant national chessboard. We look at the extraordinary confusion created by this infighting among citizen representatives. There is massive confusion emanating from the pulpit of so-called "men of God" about whether to participate in the governance of our country, to spend our time on self improvement because that's what God wants, to join church country clubs that line pockets with money, but do only enough to help the needy that it makes those giving feel good about themselves. We have issues.

People, we need to repent of these issues and divisions. Jesus said in John 10:10, "The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy." The divisions we face as a nation right now can destroy us. There are those who foment such division that their result is theft, death, and destruction. 1 Corinthians 14:33 says, "For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints." Golly folks-the confusion around the elections, around doctrine, around right and wrong is not of the Lord. It is of Satan. The divisions we see are not of the Lord. They are of Satan. We must see things more clearly, test our hearts, understand the scripture, discern the spirits, otherwise destruction awaits. Shut out the noise of the world. Pray for clarity. Act on the Lord's word. Be guided by the Holy Spirit.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Muslim Extremists Attack Christians Again in Kenya

An Islamic extremist group has claimed responsibility for a deadly attack in northeastern Kenya that left six dead and dozens injured, saying it intentionally targeted Christians.

Kenya ranks 16th on the World Watch List, mainly due to Islamic extremism, and the level of violence perpetrated against Christians, particularly in the northeastern and coastal regions, is very high.

An Islamic extremist group has claimed responsibility for a deadly attack in northeastern Kenya that left six dead and dozens injured, saying it intentionally targeted Christians.

"We are behind the Mandera attack. During which, we killed six Christians," said Sheikh Abdiasis Musab, leader of Al-Shabab, an Islamic extremist group affiliated to al-Qaeda, the BBC reports.

The attack early on Thursday morning was targeted at a gated residential building mainly housing non-ethnic Somalis and non-Muslims, less than a mile from the Somalia border town of Beled Hawa. Al-Shabab said it carried out the attack, which left 27 people injured, because it wanted non-Muslims to leave what it regarded as Muslim areas.

Classic Hymns:

TRUST AND OBEY

"O Lord Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in You." (Psalm 84:11-12)

Lyrics

When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word, What a glory He sheds on our way! While we do His good will, He abides with us still, And with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain

Trust and obey, for there's no other way To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies, But His smile quickly drives it away; Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear, Can abide while we trust and obey.

Refrain

Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share, But our toil He doth richly repay; Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross, But is blessed if we trust and obey.

Refrain

But we never can prove the delights of His love Until all on the altar we lay; For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows, Are for them who will trust and obey.

Refrain

Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet. Or we'll walk by His side in the way. What He says we will do, where He sends we will go; Never fear, only trust and obey.

Refrain

About the hymn:

This song gives a simple, clear explanation of living the Christian life. A young man stood to speak, and it soon became clear he knew little Christian doctrine. But he finished by saying, "I'm not quite sure-but I'm going to trust, and I'm going to obey." Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing.

Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
