1. 'Revoke salaries of MKs indicted for security offenses' - Israel National News

The Knesset legislative committee will discuss on Sunday a law suggested by MK Mickey Levy (Yesh Atid) which would revoke the salaries of MKs suspected of committing security-related offenses.

The proposed law would affect MKs against whom indictments for security offenses were filed and who are suspected of crimes which carry seven or more years in prison. The law would revoke both the MK's salary and any other government payments he was receiving.

The new law was proposed after the Knesset's Ethics Committee refused to revoke the salary of MK Basel Ghattas (Joint Arab List). Read more

3. Regulation Law put into action to prevent eviction - Israel Hayom

For the first time since the Judea and Samaria Settlement Regulation Law was passed last week, the State Attorney's Office has requested that the High Court of Justice take the legislation into account and prevent the eviction of residents from the Adei Ad outpost, built partially on private Palestinian land.

The law grants retroactive legalization to Judea and Samaria outposts built on private Palestinian land if the settlers can prove they built the outpost in good faith or received government assistance in its establishment. (Read more)

4. CIA chief meets Abbas ahead of Trump-Netanyahu talks - Times of Israel

Two senior Palestinian officials said Wednesday that CIA chief Mike Pompeo had secretly held talks in the West Bank with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, a rare high-level meeting between the Palestinian leader and a Trump administration official.

The officials said on Wednesday that the meeting took place a day earlier at Abbas's headquarters in Ramallah. (Read more)

5. Court postpones deadline for emptying Haifa ammonia tank - Israel National News

An Israeli court on Wednesday postponed the deadline for the ammonia container in Haifa to be emptied of its toxic content, judicial sources said.

The court gave Haifa Chemicals until February 26 to remove the liquid-form chemical from its tank, located in the Haifa Bay, the sources said, according to AFP.

An initial ruling on Sunday had given the company until February 22 to clear out the container. (Read more)

6. Netanyahu and Paul Ryan Affirm Their Commitment to Hold Iran Accountable for Its Actions - JNS.org

In his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Wednesday, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI) affirmed his commitment to hold Iran "accountable" for its actions.

In a statement issued by Ryan, the Republican leader said the two spoke about "the need to hold Iran accountable for its actions, bolster Israel's qualitative military edge, and push back against international efforts to delegitimize the Jewish state. Prime Minister Netanyahu and I redoubled our commitment to strengthening the historic alliance between the United States and Israel," Ryan added.

In addition to meeting with Ryan, Netanyahu also had sit down discussions with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). "The prime minister discussed the issues of Iran, Syria, Hezbollah and the Palestinians," the prime minister's office said.

Netanyahu also met with members of the Senate foreign relations committee, including Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), John McCain (R-AZ) and Bob Corker (R-TN). Read more.

The Daily Brief

Please note:
Every prayer below is presented to our Lord in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.

1. Trump Declines to Endorse Two-state Solution, Calls on Netanyahu to Hold Back on Settlements - Haaretz

U.S. President Donald Trump told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a joint press conference on Wednesday that he must show flexibility to prove he wants peace with the Palestinians. Trump said that he can live with either a two-state or one-state solution, adding that it's up to both the Israelis and the Palestinians. When asked about the recent uptick in anti-Semitism, Trump sidestepped the question before Netanyahu claimed the Jewish State has no better friend than Donald Trump. Netanyahu is then scheduled to meet with the Senate majority and minority leaders Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer, as well as with House Speaker Paul Ryan. (Read more)

- Father God, we thank You that President Trump is offering to forge a new pathway to peace in the Middle East by his remarks yesterday. We ask that You would grant Your wisdom to his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who has been appointed to oversee this process. In Your name, amen.

- "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." (Jer. 33:3)

2. The President & The Prime Minister - Gary Bauer

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is in Washington this week. (For all the talk about foreign interference in elections, that's what Obama did to Bibi!) Unlike the previous eight years, this president really does have Israel's back and won't plunge a knife into it like Obama did at the United Nations.

President Trump understands that Israel and the United States must stand together against a common enemy -- radical Islamic terrorism. Israel is the tip of the spear. It knows the enemy better than anyone. Our two great nations will stand together or fall together.

I am pleased to report that there is a new relationship between Washington and Jerusalem. A senior administration official yesterday made it clear that this White House does not worship at the altar of a "two-state solution."

The official told reporters that while President Trump would like to secure a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians, "We're not going to dictate what the terms of peace will be." The official added, "Peace is the goal, whether it comes in the form of a two-state solution, if that's what the parties want, or something else."

- Lord God, we are now thrilled to the point of tears of joy to see our nation once again honoring the nation of Israel, and renewing our covenant with the land of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We praise You, O Lord, amen.

- "O clap your hands, all peoples; Shout to God with the voice of joy." (Psalm 47:1)

3. Obamacare Replacement Bill is Finally Introduced: "This is a Big, Big Day" - Heritage Foundation/Charisma News

Sen. Paul, R-KY, and Rep. Mark Sanford, R-SC, introduced a bill to replace Obamacare on Wednesday, increasing the pressure on GOP leaders who continue to discuss moving the law's replacement at the same time as its repeal.

The legislation already has the full support of the House Freedom Caucus, a group of roughly 40 of the lower chamber's conservative members. Conservatives in both the House and Senate have said they want to see repeal efforts move faster, and the lawmakers are hoping that the legislation is a turning point in the repeal-and-replace debate.

"We're excited about the fact that it will finally be able to address many of the concerns that we're hearing, whether it's at town halls or personal calls from our constituents about pre-existing conditions, about how to empower the consumer in terms of their health care choice, and ultimately drive down the price of health care," House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows, R-NC, said Wednesday.

Called the Obamacare Replacement Act, the legislation shares the hallmarks of other GOP replacement plans, and Paul said it was a "consensus bill" that pulled aspects of other proposals together.

However, the lawmakers acknowledged there are still components Republicans disagree on, like whether a replacement should include a refundable tax credit-Paul and Sanford's does not-and whether to keep Obamacare's Medicaid expansion.(Read more)
> > > Also reported by: Breaking Christian News

- Father God, we thank You for this breakthrough today on Capitol Hill, as Congress struggles to replace Obamacare with a system that will bless and benefit all Americans. We continue to lift the Obamacare Replacement Act before You now as it makes its way through committee hearings on both sides of the Hill leading, in Your timing, to final passage in Congress. We thank You, too, that President Trump has already pledged to sign into law a bill that will replace Obamacare when it reaches his desk. We say "Hallelujah, Lord," in Your name, amen.

- "Sing praises to God, sing praises; Sing praises to our King, sing praises."
(Psalm 147:6)

4a. Puzder withdraws bid for labor secretary amid GOP opposition, fierce labor campaign - Washington Free Beacon

Andy Puzder withdrew his name from consideration for labor secretary on Wednesday, becoming the Trump administration's first failed cabinet nominee. Trump tapped Puzder, the CEO of CKE Restaurants, which owns fast food restaurants Hardee's and Carl's Jr., to lead the Labor Department in December. Puzder ended his nomination the day before he was scheduled for a confirmation hearing with the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions. (Read more)

4b. Trump nominates former prosecutor Acosta for labor secretary post - Fox News

Moving quickly to fill the void left after his first pick withdrew, President Trump on Thursday nominated law school dean and former federal prosecutor Alexander Acosta for labor secretary. "He has had a tremendous career," Trump said, noting he's been through Senate confirmation three times for past positions. "I think he'll be a tremendous secretary of Labor." (Read more)

- Father, we pray for Donald Trump's remaining nominees to quickly receive a vote and begin the work within their departments. We thank You for his selection of Mr. Acosta to serve as the next Labor Department Secretary, and we ask for favor to rest upon him as he goes before the Senate Committee to seek confirmation. In Your name, amen.

- "Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 18:19)

5. U.S. Retail Sales Rise; Inflation Picking Up - Fox Business

U.S. retail sales rose more than expected in January as households bought electronics and a range of other goods, pointing to sustained domestic demand that should bolster economic growth in the first quarter. The economy's improving prospects were also underscored by other data on Wednesday showing consumer prices last month recording their biggest increase in nearly four years. The upbeat reports came a day after Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen appeared to put an interest rate hike next month on the table. (Read more)

- Father, we are thankful for this good news. We lift up our economy and the decisions of the Federal Reserve to bless our people.

- "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)

6. This Little-Used Tool Could Help Congress Undo Years of Government Overreach - The Daily Signal

Federal agencies, commonly referred to these days as the "fourth branch of government," have been binding the hands of the American people for decades with overreaching regulations. All the while, Congress sat idly by and let these agencies assume their new legislative role. What if Congress could not only reverse this trend, but undo years of burdensome regulations dating as far back as the mid-1990s? It turns out it can, with the Congressional Review Act. (Read more)

- Father, we pray this Act will help Congress and the President re-assert control over the federal bureaucracy. Give them wisdom as they move forward.

"Do not grant the wicked their desires, Lord; do not let their plans succeed."
(Psalm 140:8)

7. Surprise: At the End, Obama Administration Gave NSA Broad New Powers - PJ Media

This story, from the Jan. 12, 2017, edition of the New York Times, was little-remarked upon at the time, but suddenly has taken on far greater significance in light of current events: In its final days, the Obama administration has expanded the power of the National Security Agency to share globally intercepted personal communications with the government's 16 other intelligence agencies before applying privacy protections. (Read more)

- Father, we pray for deliverance from evil men and their ways!

- "Let those who love the Lord hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked." (Psalm 97:10)

8. Top Cruz Aide Tapped for Senior Role on Trump National Security Team - Washington Free Beacon

A senior adviser to Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) who played a critical role in crafting his national security agenda-including efforts to stop the Iran nuclear deal and designate the Muslim Brotherhood organization as a terrorist entity-has been tapped by the Trump National Security Council to serve as senior director for strategic assessments, a role that encompasses the fight against terrorist forces, the Washington Free Beacon can exclusively reveal.

Victoria Coates, a top Cruz aide and his longtime confidante, has departed the senator's office to serve as senior director for strategic assessments in the new White House NSC, a role that will see Coates managing long-term threats to the United States. (Read more)

- Father, we pray for Victoria Coates, that You would make her victorious over the enemies of our nation in her role on the National Security Council.

- "Yes, and the Lord will deliver me from every evil attack and will bring me safely into his heavenly Kingdom. All glory to God forever and ever! Amen." (2 Timothy 4:18)

9. Trump: Leaked transcripts of Mexico, Australia calls 'disgraceful' - FoxNews

President Trump on Saturday denounced the leaks of transcripts of his telephone conversations with leaders of Australia and Mexico as "disgraceful" and said his administration was searching "very, very hard" for the leakers.

Trump, speaking to Fox News, accused "Obama people" of giving news organizations embarrassing details of his recent tense phone conversations with his Australian and Mexican counterparts, and said that the holdovers from the Obama administration still serving on his White House and National Security Council staff were being replaced. (Read more)

- Father, we pray these leaks would end and Donald Trump can conduct meetings and phone calls confidentially. We also pray those responsible will be held accountable for their actions.

- "Remove the wicked from the king's court, and his reign will be made secure by justice." (Proverbs 25:5)

10. Russian spy ship spotted closer to US, near Navy submarine base - FoxNews

The Russian spy ship Viktor Leonov on Wednesday morning was spotted 40 miles closer to the U.S. -- and not far from a Navy submarine base in Connecticut, a U.S. official told Fox News.

The ship was spotted 30 miles south of Groton, Conn., but it remained in international waters. The U.S. territorial boundary extends 12 miles from the coast. (Read more)

- Father, we pray for the Russian government and military to move away from our territory. We pray for a de-escalation of tensions and for sober judgement among our leaders.

- I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." (Psalm 91:2)

11. Hezbollah's Nasrallah threatens to strike Dimona nuclear reactor - Times of Israel

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on Thursday boasted that his rockets can reach Israel's nuclear reactor in the southern city of Dimona, saying that he would turn Israel's reported nuclear arsenal against it.

Nasrallah, who had previously threatened to target an Amonia tank in Haifa, claimed credit for an Israeli court decison to shut it down this week and said he would do the same with the nuclear reactor.

"I call upon the Israeli not only to evacuate the Ammonia tank from Haifa, but also to dismantle Dimona nuclear facility," Nasrallah said at a rally, warning that he would target Dimona too. "The Israeli nuclear weapon that represents a threat to the entire region, we will turn it into a threat to Israel," he warned. (Read more)

- Father, we thank You that You watch over Israel continually for her protection. We rebuke this threat in Your name, amen.

- "Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep." (Psalm 121:4)

A great day for America

The Abrahamic Covenant, made by God to Abraham and his descendants, is the foundation on which God's entire plan of salvation rests. Genesis 12:1-3 says, "...Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will show thee; And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and you shall be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee and curse him that curses thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed." Over the past decade, America has not blessed Israel, and we have suffered great economic loss, strife and division. On February 15, that began to change under President Donald Trump.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the White House and President Trump in one of the most significant meetings in recent history. America changed course with its President stating that his foreign policy goals do not involve dividing Israel into two states to achieve peace with Palestinian terrorists, and hinted at a broader, regional approach involving other countries. Trump said that his Administration rejects the "unfair and one-sided actions against Israel at the United Nations." Trump reiterated that his administration has already imposed new sanctions on Iran and confirmed: "I will do more to prevent Iran from ever developing-I mean ever-a nuclear weapon." Trump in one news conference committed to undoing almost every foreign policy of his predecessor's evil and malicious support of Israel's enemies.

Netanyahu said that to have peace, "First, the Palestinians must recognize the Jewish state. They have to stop calling for Israel's destruction. They have to stop educating their people for Israel's destruction. Second, in any peace agreement, Israel must retain the overriding security control over the entire area west of the Jordan River. Because if we don't, we know what will happen -- because otherwise we'll get another radical Islamic terrorist state in the Palestinian areas exploding the peace, exploding the Middle East. Now, unfortunately, the Palestinians vehemently reject both prerequisites for peace. First, they continue to call for Israel's destruction--inside their schools, inside their mosques, inside the textbooks. You have to read it to believe it."

There are many Christians who do not believe Israel is Israel and Jerusalem is Jerusalem. Some believe that Christians replaced Jews as God's chosen people. Others believe that the Israel spoken of in the Bible is a spiritual one. And there are many supersessionist beliefs in between them. But if you believe that the Bible is the infallible and inerrant word of God, then Israel is Israel-historically, physically and prophetically. The promise in the unconditional, one-way Abrahamic covenant is that those who bless Israel will be blessed and those who curse Israel will be cursed. This is repeated throughout the prophets even unto the end of days. The sea-change in foreign policy by the Trump Administration toward Israel marks a great day for America.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

About Michael Flynn

About Michael Flynn:

Headlines for Prayer

Editor's note:

I think we can all agree that there is much more to this Michael Flynn story than meets the eye. Only our omniscient God knows all the details in this scenario, but He has given us a prayer language to employ when "we know not how to pray as we ought to . . ." (Romans 8:26,27)

Please join us in praying over all the headlines below and, for General Flynn, to decree that "when a man's ways are pleasing in His sight, He causes even his enemies to be at peace with him." (Proverbs 16:7)

Thank you.

1. The Political Assassination of Michael Flynn - Bloomberg

If we are to believe the Trump White House, National Security Adviser Michael Flynn just resigned because he lied about his conversations with Russia's ambassador to the vice president. As White House senior counselor Kellyanne Conway told NBC's "Today Show" on Tuesday: "Misleading the vice president really was the key here."

That sounds about as credible as when the president told CIA employees that the media had invented the story about his enmity toward the spy agency, not even two weeks after he had taken to Twitter to compare the CIA to Nazis. It's about as credible as President Donald Trump's insistence that it didn't rain during his inauguration. Or that millions of people had voted illegally in the election he just won.

The point here is that for a White House that has such a casual and opportunistic relationship with the truth, it's strange that Flynn's "lie" to Pence would get him fired. It doesn't add up. (Read more)

2. FBI needs to explain why Flynn was recorded, Intelligence Committee chairman says - Washington Post

The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee said Tuesday that the most significant question posed by the resignation of national security adviser Michael Flynn is why intelligence officials eavesdropped on his calls with the Russian ambassador and later leaked information on those calls to the press.

"I expect for the FBI to tell me what is going on, and they better have a good answer," said Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, which is conducting a review of Russian activities to influence the election. "The big problem I see here is that you have an American citizen who had his phone calls recorded."

Flynn resigned Monday night, days after The Washington Post reported that intelligence officials had recorded Flynn's conversations with the Russian ambassador to the U.S. before Trump took office. Those recordings, The Post reported, appeared to contradict Flynn's own claims that he had not discussed easing U.S. sanctions on Russia. (Read more)

3. Republican senators call for Russia investigation, Flynn testimony - CNN

The Senate's second-ranking Republican and other GOP senators are calling for an investigation into connections between President Donald Trump and Russia, and want former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn to testify.

Sen. John Cornyn, who has called for an investigation into Trump's tie to Russia before Flynn resigned, told reporters Tuesday that the Senate standing committees with oversight of intelligence need to investigate Flynn. Sen. Roy Blunt, a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, also told KTRS radio he wanted to speak with Flynn.

Blunt told KTRS radio that an investigation "needs" to happen. (Read more)

4. Former Obama Officials, Loyalists Waged Secret Campaign to Oust Flynn - Free Beacon

The abrupt resignation Monday evening of White House national security adviser Michael Flynn is the culmination of a secret, months-long campaign by former Obama administration confidantes to handicap President Donald Trump's national security apparatus and preserve the nuclear deal with Iran, according to multiple sources in and out of the White House who described to the Washington Free Beacon a behind-the-scenes effort by these officials to plant a series of damaging stories about Flynn in the national media.

The effort, said to include former Obama administration adviser Ben Rhodes-the architect of a separate White House effort to create what he described as a pro-Iran echo chamber-included a small task force of Obama loyalists who deluged media outlets with stories aimed at eroding Flynn's credibility, multiple sources revealed.

The operation primarily focused on discrediting Flynn, an opponent of the Iran nuclear deal, in order to handicap the Trump administration's efforts to disclose secret details of the nuclear deal with Iran that had been long hidden by the Obama administration. (Read more)

5. Flynn played crucial role ahead of Netanyahu-Trump summit - Times of Israel

US President Donald Trump's national security adviser Michael Flynn, who resigned late Monday, was influential in attempting to forge common policies between Jerusalem and Washington on a number of issues.

The 58-year-old retired three-star general is a former military intelligence chief who saw militant Islamism as the main threat to global stability. He resigned following reports that he had misled US Vice President Mike Pence and other officials about his contacts with Russia. His departure upends Trump's senior team less than one month into the new president's term.

Before his resignation, Flynn met with Mossad intelligence agency head Yossi Cohen and acting National Security Adviser Yaakov Nagel on Friday and Monday in preparation for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's summit with Trump on Wednesday, according to a report in the daily Haaretz. (Read more)

The Senate on Thursday confirmed Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-S.C.) to lead the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). The chamber voted 51-49 to approve Mulvaney, with Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) the only Republican to vote against President Trump's nominee. (Read more)

2. Senate hearings for Supreme Court pick Gorsuch to begin March 20 - Fox News

The Senate Judiciary Committee will begin confirmation hearings for President Donald Trump's Supreme Court pick Neil Gorsuch on March 20.

That's the word from Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, who made the announcement Thursday after consulting with the panel's top Democrat, Dianne Feinstein.

Grassley says he expects the hearings to last three to four days. The first day will have opening statements by committee members and the federal judge tapped for the high court vacancy.

Questioning of Gorsuch will begin March 21. (Read more)

- Father God, we ask that, as the senators who are serving on the Senate Judiciary Committee begin to prepare their questions for next month's hearing, two questions would be foremost in their minds. "If given the opportunity, will you vote to overturn Roe v. Wade?" and, "If given the opportunity, will you vote to overturn the June 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges Supreme Court ruling which redefined marriage for every American state to include persons of the same sex?" We ask this in Your name, amen.

3. Rolling Back More Harmful Regulations - Office of Congressman Doug Lamborn

Congressman Doug Lamborn issued the following statement after the passage of House Joint Resolutions 42, 66, and 67:

"The House is utilizing the powers of the Congressional Review Act to protect the American people from the heavy burden of harmful regulations. Joint Resolutions 66 and 67 protect the hard-earned retirement accounts of certain state and municipal employees from mismanagement. Joint Resolution 42 makes sure that important benefits are not being handed out to drug abusers. These votes will improve the quality of life for hard-working Americans all across this country, and I encourage the Senate to move swiftly to send these bills to President Trump's desk." - Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05)
