Every year, the National Chairman of the National Day of Prayer writes the National Prayer - a point of unified intercession for our land.
Traditionally, this prayer is to be uttered at noon in every time zone in America, either individually, or in corporate assemblies. In some cases, this prayer is uttered at other times during that day.

1. Regev: Shut down UN headquarters in Jerusalem - Israel National News
Culture and Sport Minister Miri Regev (Likud) will demand at Wednesday's Cabinet meeting to close the UN headquarters in Jerusalem's Armon Hanatziv neighborhood and return the land to the state.
Her call came after the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Steering Committee voted to adopt a resolution denying Israel's rights to Jerusalem.
The resolution declares that "all legislative and administrative measures and actions taken by Israel, the occupying Power, which have altered or purport to alter the character and status of the Holy City of Jerusalem, and in particular the "basic law" on Jerusalem, are null and void and must be rescinded forthwith."

2. President urges world to recognize Jerusalem, move embassies - Times of Israel
President Reuven Rivlin on Tuesday called on the world's nations to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and move their embassies to the city.
Minutes after the United Nations' cultural agency voted on a resolution denying Israel's ties to the city, the president told foreign ambassadors stationed in Israel that it was "absurd" that the world refuses to recognize that Jerusalem is the capital of the Jewish people and the State of Israel.

3. Mashaal: No negotiations with the 'occupation' - Israel National News
Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal said on Monday that the group's new policy document reflects the consensus among members of the group.
Speaking at a press conference in Doha, Qatar, Mashaal said that the document is based on two central ideas that combine the struggle and the changing circumstances without compromising the basic principles and national rights of the Palestinian people.
Hamas leaders "are not striving for wars but for liberation, freedom, and withdrawal from occupation and settlement", said Mashaal.

The violent, ongoing conflict between Egypt and the Islamic State currently raging in the Sinai is a reenactment of the Biblical confrontation between Israel and Amalek, even taking place on the same battlefield, pointed out a military analyst who has turned to the Bible to make sense of current events.
Exodus tells of the legendary battle between Amalek, the ancestral enemy of the Jewish people, and the Israelites, which took place in a place called Rephidim, located in the Egyptian desert.
Two thousand years later, a new battle against Israel's enemies is being staged in exactly the same place: an Egyptian airfield in Bir Gafgafa, which is located precisely on the Biblical site of Rephidim in the Sinai Peninsula.

5. On Independence Day, UNESCO okays resolution denying Israeli claims to Jerusalem - Times of Israel
The United Nation's cultural body on Tuesday passed the latest in a series of resolutions that denies Israeli claims to Jerusalem, in a move both forcefully condemned by Israel and touted as a diplomatic feat due to the growing number of countries that opposed it.
Submitted to UNESCO's Executive Board by Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Qatar and Sudan, the resolution on "Occupied Palestine," which indicates that Israel has no legal or historical rights anywhere in Jerusalem, had been expected to pass, given the automatic anti-Israel majority in the 58-member body.

1. White House aims for Thursday signing of religious liberty executive order - Politico
President Donald Trump has invited conservative leaders to the White House on Thursday for what they expect will be the ceremonial signing of a long-awaited-and highly controversial-executive order on religious liberty, according to multiple people familiar with the situation.
Two senior administration officials confirmed the plan, though one cautioned that it hasn't yet been finalized, and noted that lawyers are currently reviewing and fine-tuning the draft language. Thursday is the National Day of Prayer, and the White House was already planning to celebrate the occasion with faith leaders.

2. Undecided GOP rep: Healthcare bill still a few votes short - The Hill
Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) said early Wednesday that he thinks the GOP healthcare proposal is still a few votes short of the number needed to pass.
During an interview on CNN's "New Day," King, who is undecided on the healthcare measure, was asked if he thinks there will be a vote on healthcare this week.
In response, King said he thinks that's a "complete toss of the coin. I think they're holding four to six votes short of what they need to go on the floor," he said.

3. The Gay, Conservative Christian Who Might Be Trump's NATO Ambassador - The Atlantic
President Trump reportedly plans to nominate [Richard] Grenell to be his ambassador to NATO, a position that would make Grenell the highest-ranking gay man in the new administration, and arguably the most visible gay Christian in America. Yet his appointment could potentially influence more than the country's ties to the military alliance-by pushing conservative Christians to reconsider their approach to LGBT rights and equality.
Grenell, a conservative and a Harvard graduate, boasts an extensive political resume that's punctuated by his role as the longest serving U.S. spokesman at the United Nations. Four years after leaving the UN, he served as Mitt Romney's national-security and foreign-affairs spokesman during the 2012 campaign for president. These days, Grenell works as a communications consultant and is a contributor on Fox News.

4. Senators to Trump: Demand Abbas stop paying terrorists - Arutz Sheva
A delegation of leading Republican senators on Tuesday urged President Donald Trump to demand that Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas end his practice of paying terrorists and their families for attacks committed against Israel.
The demand was made by the senators in a letter obtained by the Washington Free Beacon and sent Tuesday to the White House.
The letter is spearheaded by Senators Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Tom Cotton (R-AK). They are urging Trump to lay down a marker when he hosts Abbas for a round of meetings on the Middle East peace process on Wednesday.
"The United States cannot treat the Palestinian Authority as a partner for peace, or take seriously president Abbas's claimed desire for peace, so long as the PA is spending hundreds of millions of dollars a year funding and incentivizing terror," the letter states.
In addition, the lawmakers ask Trump to publicly express support for the Taylor Force Act, a new legislation that would cut U.S. funding to the PA until payments to terrorists cease.

5. Trump Goes After FBI Chief Comey On Eve Of Senate Testimony - Daily Caller
President Trump criticized James Comey on Tuesday night, just hours before the FBI director testifies before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Trump accused Comey of giving Hillary Clinton a "free pass" in the investigation into whether she mishandled classified information on her private email server.
It is unclear what exactly prompted Trump's outburst, though it was likely a response to an interview Clinton gave earlier in the day in which she blamed several factors, including Russia, misogyny and Comey, for her November election loss to Trump.
Clinton blasted Comey for re-opening the FBI's investigation into her emails in late October, just before the election.

6. Power Move: Gorsuch Opts Out Of High Court Labor Pool - Daily Caller
In an early show of independence, Justice Neil Gorsuch declined to join the Supreme Court's "cert pool," an administrative division of labor that allows for efficient review of the deluge of petitions the justices receive each term.
The cert pool was established in 1973 during the early days of the Burger Court, in order to efficiently review the near 8,000 petitions received each term. In practice, the petitions are apportioned among the Court's law clerks, who then circulate a memo to the justices recommending a grant or denial. Therefore, a law clerk's recommendation significantly affects the outcome of a petition.
In choosing not to join the pool, Gorsuch is flashing an independent streak. By having his own staff review each petition, he may be signaling misgivings about the judgments of other chambers, or of pool memos prepared by clerks who don't share his interpretative commitments. Under the cert pool system, the justices must accept that a significant portion of petitions are reviewed by young clerks who may not share their opinions on a wide range of legal issues.

7. U.S., China talk firmer U.N. response to North Korea's missiles: diplomats - Reuters
The United States is negotiating with China on a possible stronger U.N. Security Council response - such as sanctions - to North Korea's repeated ballistic missile launches, which the 15-member body normally condemns in a statement, diplomats said.
It was not immediately clear how open Beijing might be to new sanctions. The council has traditionally boosted sanctions in response to North Korea's five nuclear tests and two long-range rocket launches.
"The cumulative actions of the DPRK (North Korea) since their last nuclear test compel us to look at a range of measures that would apply pressure," said a spokesman for the U.S. Permanent Mission to the United Nations on Tuesday.
"As Secretary Tillerson said on Friday, business as usual is not an option. We are exploring options for a response to this series of provocations with our Security Council colleagues," the spokesman said.

8. As U.S. and China find common ground on North Korea, is Russia the wild card? - Reuters
Some academics who study North Korea argue Kim could be looking for Russia to ease any pain if China, which accounts for about 90 percent of North Korea's trade, steps up sanctions against the isolated country as part of moves to deter its nuclear and missile programs.
U.S. President Donald Trump lavished praise on Chinese President Xi Jinping last week for Beijing's assistance in trying to rein in Pyongyang. A day later, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson pressed the United Nations Security Council to impose more sanctions to further isolate Pyongyang.
"North Korea does not care about China's pressure or sanctions because there is Russia next door," said Leonid Petrov, a North Korea expert at Australia National University.
"Pyongyang has been playing off Beijing and Moscow for half a century, letting them compete for the right to aid and influence North Korea."

9. Trump and Putin Agree to Seek Syria Cease-Fire - New York Times
President Trump reopened direct communications with President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia on Tuesday and sought to reignite what he hoped would be a special relationship by agreeing to work together to broker a cease-fire in war-torn Syria.
In their first telephone conversation since the United States launched a cruise missile strike on Syria's Moscow-backed military to retaliate for a chemical weapons attack on civilians, Mr. Trump agreed to send a representative to Russian-brokered cease-fire talks that start on Wednesday in Astana, Kazakhstan. He and Mr. Putin also discussed meeting each other in Germany in July.

The White House budget spin
Congress is passing yet another Continuing Resolution to kick the budget can down the road to September. It's a stop-gap measure that gives the socialists an early Christmas. It continues to fund Planned Parenthood, expands spending to a trillion dollars and gives the Democrats a very strategic position in getting all their tax and spend programs over the next several years. It's a risky political strategy on the part of Republicans and it is a win-win strategy by the socialist Democratic Party. In the worse kind of way, it is bad optics for a President who made promises to drain the swamp and put Americans first--That's the take from the media, but the White House has a different spin.
Vice President Mike Pence is making the rounds to explain why the Trump Administration is supporting the Continuing Resolution until September. A big part of it is defense spending-a $21 billion increase to fund improvements to an aging military that was left to decay under the previous administration. Pence told Rush Limbaugh, "I mean, in a very real sense this was a game-changer because we're just back to putting the safety, security, and the national defense of the American people first, and...I think this sends a decisive message to the world that under President Trump's leadership we're gonna make the strongest military in history even stronger."
Pence said the number one priority for this Continuing Resolution was to strengthen America's defense capabilities. He said, "to get Democrats in Washington, D.C., to agree to a $21 billion increase in a short-term budget bill - and, you know, the president's calling for the largest increase in military spending since the Reagan administration in the upcoming budget, I think is no small - it's no small accomplishment." Pence further said that the bill includes the biggest increase in border security in ten years and reminded Limbaugh that illegal immigration was down 60% since Donald Trump took office. Pence also said that the President signed a bill into law that allows states to block Planned Parenthood funding and that the socialist healthcare replacement bill defunds Planned Parenthood.
Pence also set expectations on repealing socialist healthcare. He said that it will take two phases: first, repealing the taxes and penalties of socialist healthcare, and second, to allow people to buy healthcare across state lines. Pence said the two steps will "sweep the final vestiges of it away." Pence reveals a strategy to achieve success while making the other side think they are winning. It's the art of the deal. We must discern whether these explanations are spin or truth. Certainly, Trump knows how to deal. But he is dealing with extraordinarily cunning swamp dwellers. Let us pray that the President be an Ephesians 4:!4 person: That is not "tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lay in wait to deceive." Pray that he has the wisdom of Solomon.

Each year, Yom Ha'atzmaut-Israel's Independence Day-begins immediately following Yom HaZikaron, Israel's Memorial Day, in memory of fallen soldiers and victims of terror. This transition from somber remembrance to joyous celebration helps serve as a reminder that the State of Israel owes its existence to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
This remarkable ability to grieve for the fallen and then rejoice in the miracle of the Jewish State is manifest in State of Israel, where the people continue to look to the future with hope and optimism.
The state ceremony that ushers in Yom Ha'atzmaut takes place at Mount Herzl, Israel's military cemetery, by the grave of Theodor Herzl, a founder of Modern Zionism. The flag, which was at half-mast for Yom HaZikaron, is raised to the top of the pole. The celebration includes soldiers marching with flags creating various formations, hundreds of dancers, and of course, fireworks. The program is televised on Israeli channels.
