Focus on Israel

1. Egypt's El-Sisi calls on Israel not to provoke Muslims - YNET News

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi addressed Israel in a speech Monday, calling on its residents and leaders to "stop what is happening in the Al-Aqsa Mosque and not to provoke the feelings of Arabs and Muslims."

El-Sisi, who was speaking to a young audience in Alexandria, answered a question from an audience member on the issue and said, "The unfortunate events at Al-Aqsa are causing an unnecessary situation. I appeal to public opinion in Israel, the Israeli people and the Israeli leadership-please, this must stop.

2. Conversations with Jordanians confirm: Israelis aren't welcome - Israel Hayom

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is hardly Israeli-friendly, but the unwelcoming attitude Jordanians have toward Israelis was particularly noticeable on Monday, a day after an Israeli Embassy guard shot and killed two Jordanians while being attacked with a screwdriver by one of them.

Even at the Sheikh Hussein Border Crossing, when I was about to enter the kingdom, the hostility was palpable. The non-Israeli tourists were let in without any delay. But Israeli passport holders had to wait hours before they were issued visas.

One of the Jordanians at the border crossing, Issa, echoed public sentiment when he told me: "We love tourists, but not Israelis. You Israelis think only about how to humiliate the Muslims and how to take control over the holy sites in Jerusalem. You don't have any rights over Haram al-Sharif [the Noble Sanctuary, the Arabic name for the Temple Mount]. You are an occupying power, and occupied land must be returned to its rightful owner."

3. Fatah to Hamas: Dismantle the government in Gaza - Israel National News

Azzam al-Ahmad, a member of the Fatah Central Committee who is responsible for internal Palestinian affairs, revealed on Tuesday that over the past 10 days he had held direct and indirect contacts, through other countries, with the leadership of Hamas.

In a message to the Hamas leadership, Ahmad said, "We want to implement the reconciliation in one package deal. You must dismantle the executive committee you set up to manage the affairs of the Gaza Strip."

He urged Hamas to agree to reconciliation by warning the group against Israel's "abominable" plans to establish sovereignty in Jerusalem and damage the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

"Is the Al-Aqsa Mosque not worthy of all the nationals uniting to defend it and the future of the Palestinian problem?" Ahmad asked.

4. MK: Build Synagogue on Temple Mount - Israel National News

MK Bezalel Smotrich (Jewish Home) called Monday for the construction of a Synagogue on the Temple Mount in response to the brutal terrorist attack in Halamish Friday night.

"The Zionist response would largely be to make the other side understand and feel that they have lost. They must understand that they gain nothing from terrorism. They are the only ones who will lose, and this will happen on three levels," Smotrich told Arutz Sheva.

MK Smotrich listed what he considered to be the Zionist response to the campaign of incitement and terror against Jewish rights on the Temple Mount. "I would set up a Synagogue on the Temple Mount today, this morning. If someone thinks that through terrorism, violence, and the massacre of a family he will push our sovereignty back, then - if I am the Prime Minister - this morning I would close the Temple Mount to Arab prayer and establish a Synagogue for Jews. And if the terrorism continues I would close the mount to Arabs and there will be only Jews there."

5. 'United Jerusalem Law' passes first reading - Israel National News

The Knesset approved this evening, Wednesday, in its first reading the "United Jerusalem Law" spearheaded by Jewish Home party Chairman Naftali Bennett and Jewish Home MK Shuli Moalem-Refaeli.

The Bill seeks to require an 80-MK supermajority for any division of Jerusalem in future peace agreements.

Now, the Bill goes to the Knesset Constitution, Law, and Justice Committee in preparation for second and third readings.

1. Trump Bans Transgenders from U.S. Military, Cites Medical Costs and 'Disruptions' - CNS News

Undoing more of the Obama agenda, President Trump on Wednesday tweeted a major announcement on transgenders in the military: "After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow..........Transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military. Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming.........victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail. Thank you"

Tom Perez, chairman of the Democrat National Committee, tweeted: "To the members of the transgender community: You are not a 'burden.' Do not let this president shake you. We support you, we stand with you." But the conservative American Family Association said it "applauds" Trump "for his courageous decision to end the usage of our military for social engineering and political correctness." AFA President Tim Wildmon issued a statement saying, "American families deserve a military that is focused solely on readiness and national defense." (Read more)

- Father, thank You for this decision. We pray the men and women of our military will get back to the mission of defending our nation.

- "I am saying this for your benefit, not to place restrictions on you. I want you to do whatever will help you serve the Lord best, with as few distractions as possible." (1 Corinthians 7:35)

2. Repealing Obamacare Without Replacement Fails in Senate With 45-55 Vote - Washington Free Beacon

Today Senate Republicans voted against repealing Obamacare without a replacement in a 45-55 vote. Voting against the measure were senators Shelley Moore Capito (R., W.V.), Susan Collins (R., Maine), Dean Heller (R., Nev.), John McCain (R., Ariz.), Rob Portman (R., Ohio), Lamar Alexander (R., Tenn.), and Lisa Murkowski (R., Alaska). The Senate voted on the Obamacare Repeal and Reconciliation Act, which would repeal parts of Obamacare including the individual and employer mandates, taxes, and spending. "It's what we call a clean repeal, it's not cluttered with insurance company bailouts, it's not cluttered with this and that, new regulations, it is just trying to peel back Obamacare," said Sen. Rand Paul (R., Ky.). "Now while it is a clean repeal bill, it is only a partial repeal bill."

While Paul supports replacing Obamacare, he says the Senate should go through with this measure because it is the only way to move forward with a compromise for replacement. On Tuesday, the Senate voted 51-50 to move the debate on health care forward with Vice President Mike Pence casting the tie-breaking vote. The Senate plans to vote on a series of measures this week in an attempt to reform health care.

Following that vote, the Senate voted against a proposal to repeal and replace Obamacare in a 43 to 57 vote. The replacement plan voted on was the Senate's Better Care Reconciliation Act, which drew criticism from some conservative Republican senators who said the bill did not go far enough to repeal Obamacare. Voting against the measure were senators Susan Collins (R., Maine), Bob Corker (R., Tenn.), Tom Cotton (R., Ark.), Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.), Dean Heller (R., Nev.), Mike Lee (R., Utah), Jerry Moran (R., Kan.), and Lisa Murkowski (R., Alaska).

- Father, we pray for a breakthrough in replacing the Affordable Care Act. Help our legislators come to consensus and remove this bad law from our land.

- "Your covenant with death will be annulled; your agreement with the realm of the dead will not stand." (Isaiah 28:18)

3. Newly declassified memos detail extent of improper Obama-era NSA spying - The Hill

The National Security Agency and Federal Bureau of Investigation violated specific civil liberty protections during the Obama years by improperly searching and disseminating raw intelligence on Americans or failing to promptly delete unauthorized intercepts, according to newly declassified memos that provide some of the richest detail to date on the spy agencies' ability to obey their own rules.

The memos reviewed by The Hill were publicly released on July 11 through Freedom of Information Act litigation by the American Civil Liberties Union. They detail specific violations that the NSA or FBI disclosed to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court or the Justice Department's national security division during President Obama's tenure between 2009 and 2016. The intelligence community isn't due to report on compliance issues for 2017, the first year under the Trump administration, until next spring. (Read more)

- Father, we pray for the full extent of wrongdoing to be exposed, and we pray those responsible will be held accountable.

- "Every morning He brings His justice to light; He does not fail." (Zephaniah 3:5, excerpt)

4. New Statement By Sessions Suggests He Has No Plans To Quit As Attorney General - Daily Caller

Attorney General Jeff Sessions isn't planning on quitting his job anytime soon. That's the takeaway from a statement Sessions issued on Wednesday on a topic completely unrelated to the drama unfolding between him and President Trump. In a statement about the Task Force on Crime Reduction and Public Safety, Sessions indicated that he plans to stick around to carry out the work of the program, which Trump implemented in February and which the former Alabama senator has spearheaded. "I will continue to review all of the Task Force's recommendations, and look forward to taking additional steps towards ensuring safer communities for all Americans," Sessions said on Wednesday.

Sessions' job security has been the subject of intense speculation in recent days, as Trump has publicly criticized him over his decision to recuse himself in March from the ongoing Russia investigation. Trump said last week that he was "disappointed" in Sessions and would not have picked him as attorney general had he known that the former Alabama senator would recuse himself from the probe. (Read more)

- Father, we lift up Attorney General Sessions to You and pray for You to work thorough him as he seeks to enforce the law and administer justice throughout our nation.

- "Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for You." (Psalm 25:21)

5. Rep. Steve Scalise Discharged From the Hospital; Enters Rehab - Townhall

More than a month after he was shot and nearly killed while at baseball practice for the Congressional Baseball Game, Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) has been discharged from MedStar Washington Hospital Center and has entered an inpatient rehabilitation program. Scalise was discharged on Tuesday.

[MedStar statement:] Congressman Steve Scalise has made excellent progress in his recovery from a life-threatening gunshot wound six weeks ago. Yesterday, he was discharged from MedStar Washington Hospital Center and is now beginning a period of intensive inpatient rehabilitation. He is in good spirits and is looking forward to his return to work once he completes rehabilitation. He and his family are grateful for the care he received from the trauma team as well as the other doctors, nurses, and staff of MedStar Washington Hospital Center. The family also appreciates the outpouring of prayers and support during this time. (Read more)

- Father, we pray Congressman Scalise will heal and regain his ability to stand and walk quickly. We lift up his family as well, may they continue to receive support throughout this process.

- "Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you." (Isaiah 46:4)

6. VP Pence 'Indispensable' for Trump Agenda - NewsMax

In casting his third tie-breaking vote in the Senate since becoming vice president, Mike Pence on Tuesday gave the Trump administration its biggest triumph on Capitol Hill: the move to open Obamacare for debate and thus pave the way for its repeal.

But Pence did much more than simply cast a key vote. Several sources told Newsmax that Pence's efforts were pivotal to winning over to the bill conservative pro-family groups such as Concerned Women for America and the Faith and Freedom Coalition.

"On healthcare, as on so many other personnel and policy matters, Vice President Pence is an indispensable player in moving President Trump's agenda," Faith and Freedom head Ralph Reed told me. "President Trump made one of his best decisions when he selected Pence to be his running mate roughly a year ago, and it continues to pay dividends. (Read more)

- Father, we are grateful for Vice-President Pence and pray You will continue to bless him as he advocates for President Trump and his agenda.

- "Loyalty and truth preserve the king, and he upholds his throne by righteousness." (Proverbs 20:28)

7. Corrupt Mexican Officials Are to Blame for Illegal Human Smuggling Racket - The Daily Signal

Florida truck driver James Matthew Bradley isn't the mastermind of the human smuggling ring that led to the grisly deaths of 10 illegal immigrants in his rig, which authorities found at a San Antonio Walmart over the weekend. Bradley may now face the death penalty for transporting up to 100 people crammed in the trailer of his 18-wheeler. But what about the open-borders overlords making a real killing off this insatiable racket?

For years, our nation has been subjected to endless complaints, race-baiting insults, and vicious attacks by politicians south of the border. Former Mexican President Felipe Calderon trashed our immigration laws on U.S. soil before the California state Legislature.

Current Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto took to CNN's airwaves to bash U.S. citizens who support strong borders as "exclusionary and discriminatory." Meddling Mexican consular officials in the U.S. have lobbied aggressively from New York to Texas to California for mass amnesty, driver's licenses for illegal immigrants, discounted tuition for illegal immigrant students, and systematic sabotage of interior enforcement and deportation policies. Armed incursions by the Mexican military have targeted our immigration enforcement agents for years. (Read more)

- Father, we pray You would continue to shine Your light on these wicked men who undermine our nation. We also pray for You to give President Trump wisdom to effectively ruin Mexican corruption.

- "The greedy bring ruin to their households, but the one who hates bribes will live." (Proverbs 15:27)

8. Iran poised to launch rocket into space, as North Korea readies another missile test, US officials say - Fox News

Two enemies of America are poised for upcoming rocket launches, two senior U.S. officials told Fox News, with another North Korean intercontinental ballistic missile launch expected as soon as Wednesday night and Iran on the verge of sending its own vehicle into space. Iran's Simorgh space-launch vehicle is believed to be carrying a satellite, marking the second time in more than a year that Tehran has attempted to put an operational satellite into orbit -- something the Islamic Republic has never done successfully, according to one of the officials who has not authorized to discuss a confidential assessment. Iran's last space launch in April 2016 failed to place a satellite into orbit, the official said.

The intelligence community is currently monitoring Iran's Semnan launch center, located about 140 miles east of Tehran, where officials say the "first and second stage airframes" have been assembled on a launch pad and a space launch is expected "at any time," according to the official. (Read more)

- Father, we pray You would cause these missile launches to be unsuccessful. We also pray for an effective strategy to isolate and eliminate the threats from both Iran and North Korea.

- "But don't be afraid of those who threaten you. For the time is coming when everything that is covered will be revealed, and all that is secret will be made known to all." (Matthew 10:26)

9. As it loses in Syria and Iraq, ISIS establishes a new beachhead: the Philippines - USA Today

At a crowded center for refugees fleeing the fighting that has ravaged this city, Merlinda Obedencio never lets her most valuable possession out of sight: a blue cellphone. It is the only link she has to her husband and three of their six children being held by Islamic State-linked extremists. Obedencio's husband, Raul, and their children were captured by the local Maute extremist group during a siege that started May 23 and has left almost 600 dead.

Almost 400,000 people have been displaced by the fighting in Marawi, a city on the southern island of Mindanao, according to the Philippine military. And like Obedencio, most face an uncertain future in a region turned upside down by extremist violence. The Islamic State, also known as ISIS, views the drawn-out battle as a major win at a time when it is being driven out of its base in Iraq and Syria, bringing greater attention to the Philippines and Southeast Asia as a new beachhead for extremists. (Read more)

- Father, we pray the military of the Philippines will be effective in removing ISIS from Marawi, allowing these peaceful people to continue their lives.

- "I will comfort those who mourn, bringing words of praise to their lips. May they have abundant peace, both near and far," says the Lord, who heals them." (Isaiah 57:18b-19)

10. Trump Administration Announces Sanctions Against Maduro Regime - Daily Caller

The Treasury Department announced sanctions against several key Venezuelan officials Wednesday. The announcement comes as Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro is scheduled to oversee an election on Sunday that will allow him to rewrite the constitution, a move that is viewed by his opposition as a power grab. Four of the senior officials sanctioned are involved in these elections. All of the 13 sanctioned current and former officials will not be allowed to do business with American individuals or businesses and will have whatever assets they currently hold in the U.S. frozen.

Other sanctioned individuals include current and former members of Venezuelan military or law enforcement groups that the Treasury Department have identified as being responsible for the brutal responses to anti-government protests. The Treasury Department cited opposition estimates that 15,000 civilians have been wounded in protests, and that there are 431 political prisoners in detention. (Read more)

- Father, we pray for the deliverance of the people of Venezuela, many of which are fully devoted to You. Bring Your precious Peace and re-establish their freedom.

- "And God will use this persecution to show his justice and to make you worthy of his Kingdom, for which you are suffering." (2 Thessalonians 1:5)

The cover-up

Breitbart reports that the FBI is investigating "several smashed hard drives seized from the home of two Pakistan-born brothers" who worked for former DNC chairwoman and Progressive (Communist) Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL). The story is a fascinating expose of mishandling confidential information, massive cybersecurity breaches, and the bizarre exchange of millions of dollars to Pakistanis while sensitive Congressional data was transferred to unsecured servers. One of the Pakistanis, who had amassed some $4 million from Wasserman Schultz since 2010, Imran Awan, tried to flee the country on Tuesday, was caught by the FBI and is now a central figure in the probe.

The intrigue continues as the story unfolds. In May, it was reported that a laptop used by Imran was hidden in an unused crevice of the Rayburn House Office Building, found by Capitol Police and seized for use in the criminal investigation against Imran. Wasserman Schultz reportedly threatened Capitol Police with "consequences" if they didn't return the laptop she said was owned by her and used by Imran. Imran's attorney is playing the Muslim card, saying that his arrest is clearly a right-wing media-driven prosecution by the US Attorney's office against a Muslim worker. Aside from the Islamic smoke and mirrors, the real story is what was Wasserman Schultz and Imran doing with the information and who was the money paid to?

At a time when the Democrats are opining every day about Russian influence in the US election, what ever happened to those classified documents that Hillary Clinton gave up in her closet email server? Who got the emails? Was it the Russians? Was Wasserman Schultz, who was also a Clinton comrade and supporter, involved in some money laundering scheme with Islamic actors? How much taxpayer money was used to influence the election on behalf of Clinton and the Democratic Party? What about the Russian donations to the Clinton Foundation after the Russian uranium deal? Who is really involved in peddling influence with America's enemies? These are all questions that should be asked.

Wasserman Schultz had to resign as Democratic Party Chairman because leaked emails showed her part in a conspiracy to undermine socialist Democratic Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders' campaign. At the time, the Democrats were blaming Russia for hacking the emails and releasing them to the public. Here's the real point: The Democrats, including Hillary Clinton and the DNC, were fast and loose with confidential information. They also did ethically wrong and possibly illegal acts exposed by the emails they were trying to secure. Whether it's the Russians or now these Pakistanis, the underhanded deals are being exposed, and the Democrats are trying to blame it on the Republicans. Jesus said in Luke 8:17, "For nothing is hidden that shall not be made manifest." Let's hope all this chicanery is brought to light.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

National Day of Repentance

Repentance ~ Balm for the 9th of Av
For those of us who closely follow the Hebrew calendar, we are aware that we are currently within a 21 day period of Mourning beginning on the Fast of Tammuz (July 10th) and ending on the 9th of Av (July 31st in the Gregorian calendar this year).

As the Jews began their observance of the 17th of Tammuz on July 10th, the United Nations had just announced one day earlier (July 9th) that the Tomb of the Hebrew Patriarchs was a "Palestinian Heritage Site" instead of a biblically and historically Jewish site (see news article below).

About Fanny Crosby:

Fanny Crosby was probably the most prolific hymnist in history. Though blinded by an incompetent doctor at six weeks of age, she wrote over 8,000 hymns. About her blindness, she said:

It seemed intended by the blessed providence of God that I should be blind all my life, and I thank him for the dispensation. If perfect earthly sight were offered me tomorrow I would not accept it. I might not have sung hymns to the praise of God if I had been distracted by the beautiful and interesting things about me.

In her lifetime, Fanny Crosby was one of the best known women in the United States. To this day, the vast majority of American hymnals contain her work.

Fires force evacuation of 12,000 in 3 French Riviera towns

Wildfires blazing across the south of France have forced the emergency evacuation of thousands of residents and tourists.

The French authorities said they had moved to safety around 12,000 people - most of whom are vacationing on its Mediterranean coast in camping sites and holiday homes - as flames swept through forests and firefighters struggled to stop them from spreading.

On Wednesday, French officials said that more than 4,000 firefighters were mobilized to tackle the fires as they raged around the Côte d'Azur at the height of the tourist season.

Fires broke out along the popular seaside area on Monday, forcing a few scattered evacuations and causing a scare on the edges of the celebrated seaside resort of Saint Tropez. The latest and most serious conflagration started around the hillside town of Bormes-les-Mimosas on Tuesday and quickly spread across swathes of pine forest, aided by strong winds and dry ground conditions caused by an ongoing heatwave.

On Wednesday four tracker planes and several water-dumping aircraft were dispatched to the region as billowing black smoke filled the sky. By evening, the situation was still not under control.

Tourists and local residents used Twitter to share photos and videos from the region. (LA Times)

The Good News Corner

The State Told Him to Give up His 7 Kids,
but This Widower Stood Tough and God Made a Way

(Alaska) - [CBN News] Mark Braudis is proud of the accomplishments of his seven children, considering he was forced to raise them alone.

The family's outlook was very bleak after his wife Helen was hit by a car and killed back in 2007. Today, his children are proud U.S. Marines and students. But a decade ago, life was just one big question mark.

Braudis faced an enormous burden after that tragic day. What should he do? How were they going to survive? Could he even keep his family together?

In the middle of his grief, Braudis couldn't keep up with his 12-hour-a-day job driving a cab because he needed to be around to take care of his grieving children. He lost his cab permit. Times soon got rough.

Braudis shared his remarkable story with the Alaska Dispatch News: "I had to deal with the kids," he told the paper. "I wanted to get drunk. And all the kids were sitting around me and they were saying, 'Dad, we're hungry.' "

With no income, the family eventually lost their home in Anchorage, Alaska. A caseworker suggested Braudis turn his children over to the state. "The lady said, 'Listen, Dad, you're putting your kids up for adoption and you're going back to work,'" recalled Braudis.

But that was something he said he could never do.

"No, no, no, we're a team," said Braudis. "We're close. That never would have happened. We would be in the shelter, whatever, but I would die first. These are my children."
