1. Secretary Mattis warns North Korea not to invite 'destruction of its people' - Fox News

If Kim Jong Un won't listen to President Trump, the Mad Dog could make him heel.

Secretary of Defense James "Mad Dog" Mattis echoed his boss's fiery warning Wednesday to the dictator of North Korea with harsh rhetoric of his own. And this time, the words came from a battle-tested, four-star U.S. Marine Corps general.

"The DPRK must choose to stop isolating itself and stand down its pursuit of nuclear weapons," Mattis said in a statement. "The DPRK should cease any consideration of actions that would lead to the end of its regime and the destruction of its people."

Mattis provided a powerful follow-up to Trump's warning that Pyongyang would face "fire and fury" should it continue to test missiles, build nuclear warheads and threaten to attack the United States. Lest anyone think Trump was speaking without the counsel of his top military man, Mattis said Trump is well aware of the depth of the North Korean threat.

"President Trump was informed of the growing threat last December and on taking office his first orders to me emphasized the readiness of our ballistic missile defense and nuclear deterrent forces," Mattis continued. (Read more)

2. North Korea now making missile-ready nuclear weapons, U.S. analysts say - Chicago Tribune

North Korea has successfully produced a miniaturized nuclear warhead that can fit inside its missiles, crossing a key threshold on the path to becoming a full-fledged nuclear power, U.S. intelligence officials have concluded in a confidential assessment.

The new analysis completed last month by the Defense Intelligence Agency comes on the heels of another intelligence assessment that sharply raises the official estimate for the total number of bombs in the communist country's atomic arsenal. The U.S. calculated last month that up to 60 nuclear weapons are now controlled by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Some independent experts believe the number of bombs is much smaller.

The findings are likely to deepen concerns about an evolving North Korean military threat that appears to be advancing far more rapidly than many experts had predicted. U.S. officials last month concluded that Pyongyang is also outpacing expectations in its effort to build an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of striking cities on the American mainland. 3. North Korea: Plan to attack Guam will be complete by mid-August - The Hill

North Korea on Wednesday escalated already heightened tensions with the United States, warning that a plan to attack waters near Guam will be in place by mid-August and that President Trump understands "only absolute force."

The country's military also starkly dismissed Trump's warning, issued the day before, that he will unleash "fire and fury" on North Korea if it continues to threaten the U.S. as a "load of nonsense," according to reports.

"The U.S. President at [golf] links again let out a load of nonsense about 'fire and fury,' failing to grasp the ongoing grave situation," a commander of the North Korean army said, as reported by CNN. "It seems that he has not yet understood the statement. Sound dialogue is not possible with such a guy bereft of reason and only absolute force can work with him." (Read more)

4. Guam's worries grow as tensions rise between US, North Korea - AP

Residents of the tiny Pacific island of Guam say they're afraid of being caught in the middle of escalating tensions between the U.S. and North Korea after Pyongyang announced it was examining plans for attacking the strategically important U.S. territory.

Though local officials downplayed any threat and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was unruffled as he headed to Guam to refuel on his trip back to Washington from Malaysia, people who live and work on the island said they could no longer shrug off the idea of being a potential target. Guam serves as a launching pad for the U.S. military.

"I'm a little worried, a little panicked. Is this really going to happen?" said Cecil Chugrad, a 37-year-old bus driver for a tour bus company in Guam. "If it's just me, I don't mind, but I have to worry about my son. I feel like moving (out of Guam) now."

About 163,000 people live on the island that spans only about 12 miles (19 kilometers) at its widest. They are used to the threats from North Korea. But advances in the country's nuclear program paired with fiery rhetoric from President Donald Trump has raised the already high animosity and heightened worries that a miscalculation might spark conflict between the nuclear-armed nations. 5. Chinese official: China will pay the price for sanctions on North Korea - The Hill

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi says that China will enforce the new United Nations sanctions against North Korea, despite paying the largest economic price in the deal, according to Reuters.

The foreign minister's comments come after the U.N. Security Council unanimously passed new sanctions against North Korea on Saturday that ban the export of key resources from the country.

The sanctions, which could cost North Korea as much as $1 billion, were imposed in response to the nation's intercontinental ballistic missile tests.

Since most of North Korea's $3 billion in exports go to China, Wang said his country would pay the price.

"Owing to China's traditional economic ties with North Korea, it will mainly be China paying the price for implementing the resolution," Wang said at a regional security forum in Manila on Monday. (Read more)

1. At solidarity rally, Netanyahu accuses left and media of trying to overthrow him - Times of Israel

In a battling speech to some 3,000 supporters who gathered in Tel Aviv on Wednesday night, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused the left and the media of using ever-widening corruption investigations against him and his family to try to oust him from power in what he called "a coup against the government."

"They don't want to just take me down, they want to take us all down," he told the Likud party crowd. "They know that they can't beat us at the ballot boxes, so they are trying to circumvent democracy and topple us in other ways."

"But we keep winning in the ballots because we've brought Israel to the best place it has ever been in Israel's history," he said.

2. 10 indicted in massive Yisrael Beytenu corruption case - Israel Hayom

The Justice Ministry on Tuesday handed down 10 indictments in one of the most high-profile corruption cases to ever rattle Israeli politics, and a former deputy minister and nine other officials in Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman's Yisrael Beytenu party will soon face trial for charges ranging from bribery to tax evasion.

In April 2015 the Israel Police revealed its Major Crimes Unit was holding a prolonged investigation into alleged widespread corruption by members of the right-wing party.

Over 30 senior Yisrael Beytenu officials were arrested in the case, including then-Deputy Interior Minister Faina Kirschenbaum.

3. Gaza-based UN worker arrested for 'security offenses' - World Israel News

The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) has arrested UN employee Hamdan Tamaraz, a resident of Nuseirat in the Gaza Strip who was working for the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS).

Tamaraz, 61, admitted during questioning that he was involved in prohibited activities. He was then released.

According to the Foreign Ministry, Tamaraz was involved in security offenses.

4. Palestinian Authority slashes permits for sick Gazans, UN health body says - Times of Israel

The Palestinian Authority has dramatically reduced financial support for Gazans seeking medical care outside the blockaded Gaza Strip, WHO figures showed Wednesday, as PA president Mahmoud Abbas seeks to squeeze the Hamas-run enclave.

The number of financial approvals from June, the most recent number available, was 80 percent lower than the monthly average for 2016, the World Health Organization said in a statement.

Just 477 Gazans were given financial approval to travel for treatment during the month, down from 1,883 in June the previous year.

The Palestinian Authority has officially denied any change in policy, but Abbas has been seeking to squeeze Gaza's rulers Hamas through a series of measures including reducing electricity payments.

5. Two Muslim-majority African nations to send first-ever ambassadors to Israel - World Israel News

Ambs. Talla Fall of Senegal and Amara Camara of Guinea are scheduled to present their credentials to Israeli President Reuven Rivlin Aug. 8. The envoys will serve as non-resident ambassadors, with Fall operating out of Senegal's embassy in Cairo and Camara operating from Paris.

In early June, Israel and Senegal announced the full restoration of diplomatic ties on the sidelines of the Economic Community of West African States conference in Liberia.

Diplomatic relations between the countries were frozen after Senegal co-sponsored last December's United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334, which condemned Israel's settlement policy and described eastern Jerusalem and its Jewish holy sites as "occupied Palestinian territory." At the time, Israel recalled its ambassador to Senegal and suspended its aid programs with the African nation.

Every prayer below is presented to our Lord in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.

1. Pastor Robert Jeffress Says 'God Has Given Trump Authority to Take Out Kim Jong Un' - CBN

Sometimes you've got to stop evil. It's biblical. In North Korea, it's pretty clear that their dictator is downright evil. So tonight, Pastor Robert Jeffress, a longtime evangelical backer of Donald Trump, just released a statement saying the president has the moral authority to take out Kim Jong Un. This comes after Trump said today that if North Korea continues to threaten the U.S. then they will "be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen."

Here's the statement given to The Brody File:

"When it comes to how we should deal with evil doers, the Bible, in the book of Romans, is very clear: God has endowed rulers full power to use whatever means necessary - including war - to stop evil. In the case of North Korea, God has given Trump authority to take out Kim Jong-Un. I'm heartened to see that our president - contrary to what we've seen with past administrations who have taken, at best, a sheepish stance toward dictators and oppressors - will not tolerate any threat against the American people. When President Trump draws a red line, he will not erase it, move it, or back away from it. Thank God for a President who is serious about protecting our country." (Read more)

- Father, this statement is being taken wildly out of context by most of the press. We pray You would protect Pastor Jeffress' reputation. Silence the slander against him and all Bible-believing Christians.

- Hide your loved ones in the shelter of your presence, safe beneath your hand, safe from all conspiring men. (Psalm 31:20)

2. Mueller now urged to look into Seth Rich case - MyInforms.com

Only a few days after a bombshell hit the Seth Rich murder investigation in Washington, D.C., with a recording of Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist Seymour Hersh pointing out that WikiLeaks stopped releasing hacked DNC emails when Rich died, a private investigator is asking Special FBI Counsel Robert Mueller to look at the circumstances.

Rich's murder in 2016 has never been solved. He was near his home in Washington early in the morning when he was shot in the back twice. Police described it as a robbery, but neither his watch nor his wallet was taken. He had been working for the Democratic National Committee at a time when emails from the organization were being handed over to WikiLeaks for publication.

On Tuesday, lobbyist and lawyer Jack Burkman sent a letter to Mueller, who was appointed to review the allegations against Trump's campaign in 2016 of collusion with Russia, urging him to expand his work. Rich, Burkman explained, could be the "missing link." (Read more)

- Father, we pray Special Counsel Meuller will be compelled, by Your Spirit, to pursue the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth - regardless of who gets indicted or investigated. We pray the end of this investigation will truly bring integrity back to our nation's government and law enforcement.

- Now go, lead the people to the place I told you about. Look! My angel will lead the way before you. And when I come to call the people to account, I will certainly hold them responsible for their sins. (Exodus 32:34)

3. Google Lobbyists Are Opposing Efforts to Amend a Law that Could Decrease Online Sex Trafficking - endsexualexploitation.org

Today, Google lobbyists blitzed members of the U.S. Congress with this email asking them to stop their efforts to combat online sex trafficking by amending section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (CDA) in the respective bills S. 1693 and H.R. 1865. As currently interpreted by U.S. federal courts, Section 230 of the CDA grants broad immunity to Internet platforms for third-party posts, even to websites that intentionally facilitate sex trafficking online such as Backpage.com.

"You would think a company whose motto is 'don't be evil' would think twice before choosing the side of sex traffickers," said Patrick Trueman, president of the National Center on Sexual Exploitation. "Google lobbyists are bombarding members of Congress with emails against passage of the only legislation that will dramatically decrease sex trafficking of girls, boys, and adults online. This is a case of Big Tech caring more about its bottom line than the victims of serial rape for profit."

"Amending the CDA will allow victims of sex trafficking to hold websites that intentionally and knowingly facilitated their abuse accountable. The National Center on Sexual Exploitation applauds those in Congress who show the courage to support the countless victims of sex trafficking rather than yield to Google's scare tactics and its lobbying dollars. All human rights activists will watch this battle closely to learn which Members of Congress will side with sex trafficking victims and which will side with Google and the sex traffickers," Trueman said. (Read more)

- Father, we pray these internet search providers will be held accountable for enabling sex trafficking and illegal activities. We pray You would move upon the consciences of their leaders to solve this problem and we pray for the success of the Amendment to the Communications Decency Act.

- So I will rescue my flock, and they will no longer be abused. (Ezekiel 34:22a)

4. Statue of Liberty now goes Muslim in Congress - WND

A portrayal of the Statue of Liberty as a Muslim woman - on display in the office of U.S. Rep. Lou Correa, D-Calif. - is drawing a rebuke from former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin. The image first was questioned by an activist organization called We the People Rising, which asked Correa to remove it. He refused. The image, from a high-school student, is part of an art competition, and it shows the Statue of Liberty wearing a hijab, holding a torch across the left side of her body, not the ordinary aloft position signaling a light for freedom. "While the painting is simply a piece of art created by a local female high school student, its symbolism is clearly political. It evokes imagery similar to other works of art that have circulated since President Trump's election, such as the popular 'We The People' poster of a woman wearing an American flag as a hijab," the Washington Post documented. (Read more)

- Father, we recognize this controversy is a provocation from the enemy. We pray, Your Church will not fall into the trap of offense, but truly display Christlikeness.

- A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city, and contentions are like the bars of a citadel. (Proverbs 18:19)

5. NAACP's Rev Dr William Barber: 'Form of Theological Malpractice That Borders on Heresy' to Pray for Trump - Breitbart.com

Saturday on MSNBC's "AM Joy," Rev. Dr. William Barber, a member of the national board of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and pastor of the Greenleaf Christian Church in Goldsboro, NC, spoke out against those that prayed for President Donald Trump after a photo was made public that showed pastors praying for the president at the White House.

Barber called it a "form of theological malpractice that borders on heresy."

"[I]t is a form of theological malpractice that borders on heresy," Barber said. "When you can p-r-a-y for a president and others while they are p-r-e-y, preying on the most vulnerable, you're violating the sacred principles of religion. You know, there is a text in Amos Chapter 2 that says religious and moral hypocrisy looks like when a nation of political leaders will buy and sell upstanding people when they will do anything to make money, when they will sell the poor for a pair of shoes, when they will grind the penniless into the dirt and shove the luckless into the ditch and extort from the poor. That is an actual text." (Read more)

- Father, we p-r-a-y for Rev. Dr. William Barber, that he would truly be a "repairer of the breach" and live up to his calling of racial reconciliation. We pray he would have such a transformative experience with You that he will have Your perspective on racial relations and President Trump.

- Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. (Romans 12:14)

6. Suspected Paris vehicle attack driver arrested - Fox News

The suspected driver who rammed a vehicle into a crowd of soldiers, injuring six of them, in a Paris suburb was arrested Wednesday after he was wounded during a brief standoff with police, French officials said. The condition of the man, who was not immediately identified, is unknown at this time.

He was arrested hours after a driver rammed a car into a crowd of soldiers, leaving at least three of the six hit with serious injuries -- though they were believed to be non-life threatening. Two French officials told The Associated Press it was too early to say for certain the man was the driver.

The soldiers were part of the 35th infantry regiment in the suburb of Saint-Mande and were leaving their barracks just after 8 a.m. when the attack occurred. France's Interior Minister Gerard Collomb told reporters the driver targeted the soldiers in a calculated car attack. France has been under a state of emergency since November 2015, when several Islamist gunmen opened fire in Paris, leaving 130 people dead in a series of coordinated attacks. (Read more)

- Father, we pray for the people of France, who have traded their freedom for security and are finding they now have neither. We pray for the repentance of the French people and the healing of their land.

- Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

North Korea: judgment or consequences

Many Christians have been asking whether the threat of a North Korea nuclear attack was judgment on the United States for its sins against God. I tend to believe that the leader of North Korea is crazy like a fox and in the end is doing what his father before him did-rattle the sabers hard enough to get concessions to stop his nuclear program. Translated: get paid for secretly continuing his nuclear program. Notwithstanding, the North Korean nuclear situation is the consequences of having bad leadership in the White House at a critical juncture. A US President gave North Korea nuclear technology under the auspices of using it for peaceful power. Today, we are faced with paying for that decision.

President Bill Clinton's long-held belief on nuclear weapons was that if everyone had them, nobody would use them and the world would be a safer place. On June 11, 1993, the US agreed to not use force or nuclear weapons against North Korea if it remained in the nonproliferation treaty. North Korea continued to develop its nuclear weapons program. On October 18, 1994, after 17 months of negotiations, Clinton signed a deal to give North Korea light water reactor nuclear technology if it stopped building nuclear weapons, saying, "Today all Americans should know that as a result of this achievement on Korea, our Nation will be safer and the future of our people more secure."

In his commitment to communist North Korea, Clinton is quoted as saying, "This US-North Korean agreement will help to achieve a long-standing and vital American objective: an end to the threat of nuclear proliferation on the Korean peninsula." Heritage Foundation archives document in an October 20 letter to North Korean strongman Kim Jong Il, (father of current dictator Kim Jong Un) Clinton vastly expanded America's commitments under the formal agreement to finance fuel shipments and reactors, ease its long-standing trade embargo and move toward first-ever diplomatic relations with North Korea. North Korea went on to develop nuclear weapons and to assist Iran in its nuclear weapons program.

Instead of having a safer future, the world is far more dangerous because of Clinton's reckless shenanigans. President Donald Trump has not hesitated to say he will use military force if North Korea persists. We need to realize that, thanks to Clinton, North Korea has lethal power, and future peace might only be secured with the price of many lives. Romans 12:18 says, "If it be possible, as much as lies in you, live peaceably with all men." Peace is a two-way street, especially when millions of lives are at stake. Sadly, Trump may be forced to end what Clinton foolishly began. To me, this is the consequence of electing a bad and immoral leader rather than the judgment of God. Free will has its responsibilities.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Classic Hymns:

WHEN WE ALL GET TO HEAVEN

"In my Father's house are many rooms . . . I am going there to prepare a place for you." (John 14:2)

Lyrics

Sing the wondrous love of Jesus,
Sing His mercy and His grace.
In the mansions bright and blessèd
He'll prepare for us a place.

Refrain

When we all get to Heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We'll sing and shout the victory!

While we walk the pilgrim pathway,
Clouds will overspread the sky;
But when traveling days are over,
Not a shadow, not a sigh.

Refrain

Let us then be true and faithful,
Trusting, serving every day;
Just one glimpse of Him in glory
Will the toils of life repay.

Refrain

Onward to the prize before us!
Soon His beauty we'll behold;
Soon the pearly gates will open;
We shall tread the streets of gold.

Alaska at Risk of a Massive Earthquake and Tsunami
Similar to Devastating 2011 Japan Event

In 2011, a megathrust earthquake off the coast of Japan produced a huge tsunami that killed over 15,000 people. The 9.0 magnitude quake was so big it shifted the Earth's axis and moved the coast of Honshu, Japan's main island, by 8 feet.

Scientists now say a similar earthquake could take place off the coast of Alaska, resulting in a dangerous tsunami that could devastate parts of the state and reach southerly parts of North America, Hawaii and beyond.

In a study published in the journal Nature Geoscience, researchers at Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory created new, detailed maps of an area of the seafloor off Alaska called the Shumagin Gap. This is a creeping subduction zone at the end of the Alaska Peninsula, 600 miles from Anchorage.

Previously, scientists thought this area was fairly benign, steadily releasing tension as the plates moved slowly past one another. But this is not the case. Instead, the researchers found a geological structure similar to that seen at the site of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake, suggesting this site could also slip suddenly and produce a huge tsunami.

The Tohoku earthquake took place at a creeping segment of the seafloor. It was thought that the frequent, small earthquakes at the site meant it could never build up enough tension to produce one large quake.

What scientists failed to realize was that part of the edge of the continental plate had become detached-and that this posed a major risk. A smaller earthquake dislodged the detached section, creating the huge earthquake and tsunami that followed. While scientists knew this fault existed, they did not understand the devastation it could cause.

In their study, researchers found a region of the Shumagin Gap that is detached in the same way. The fault they identified stretches about 90 miles roughly parallel to the land and extends over 20 miles down. The maps suggest the seafloor has dropped to one side and risen on the other. Researchers also found a cluster of seismic activity near where the new fault meets the plate boundary, indicating it is active.

While the newly identified fault could be the remains of a previous earthquake rather than one to come, the findings show this part of Alaska is "particularly prone to tsunami generation," lead author Anne Bécel said in a statement.

With the potential for a huge tsunami to be unleashed, the team says, it is imperative to gain a better understanding of this structure. "The importance of recognizing the hazard posed by the weakly coupled Shumagin Gap was emphasized by a recent tsunami scenario for the Alaska subduction zone showing that a large tsunami in this segment could have devastation consequences to coastal communities locally in Alaska and around the Pacific Ocean," the researchers wrote.

WOW Discovery in Israel!

The "Lost" City That was Home to Three of Jesus' Apostles

(Israel)-[JNS.org] Archaeologists say they have discovered a lost Roman city that was home to three of Jesus' apostles-Peter, Andrew and Philip-on the shore of the Sea of Galilee in northern Israel.

Ruins of Bethsaida-which the New Testament says was the home of Jesus' apostles Philip, Andrew and Peter-in 2011. In the latest discovery at Bethsaida, Israeli researchers say they have uncovered remains from a Roman-style bathhouse from the former location of the lost city of Julias.

The Israeli researchers' claim centers on the discovery of remains from a Roman-style bathhouse in the Bethsaida Valley Nature Reserve, which is said to be the former location of the lost Roman city of Julias.
