Welcome to our "Summer Edition"

Dear friends,

This week, we will "stand down" a bit from publishing the full version of our Daily Briefs, but we will not stand down from being on the wall in prayer.

You will find below headlines for your own prayerful consideration, with links to the full text, each divided into focus groupings.

Other features will be included as: the Daily Jot, our Weekly Bible Study, and a Classic Hymn for the day.

We will resume our normal format, beginning on next Tuesday, September 5th. Thank you.

Prayer Requests: Harvey

Prayer Requests: Harvey

Submitted by: 24/7 National Strategic Prayer Call

Please pray:

- for President Trump, Governor Abbot of TX, Governor Edwards of LA and all those working together at the national, state and local levels to justly administrate critical aid and relief

- for protection for the Texas and Louisiana National Guard, the members of law enforcement, and the valiant first responders who are serving in the midst of this crisis

- for the children, who may be fearful about what might have happened to their friends and missing family members, to be assured that things will work out and that they will be safe.

- for the elderly, who were displaced and separated from their families, to be at peace and feel loved and secure

- for all those who have selflessly put themselves in harm's way to help their neighbors and friends

- for the LIGHT of Christ to continuously break through any panic, fear or tense situations, bringing a reassurance that ALL IS WELL despite the circumstances the people are facing at this moment

- that God might be glorified as His people move among the hurting and lost, bringing the comfort and soothing touch that is so desperately needed at this time of tremendous loss.

"Oh, Lord, hear our prayers, amen!"

Tropical Storm Harvey Situation Update - August 28, 2017

According to the National Hurricane Center, Topical Storm Harvey has been steered north-northeastward by a light southwesterly flow between a high in the Gulf of Mexico and a trough over the central United States. This flow pattern should keep Harvey on the same general track and speed with a gradual turn to the northeast in about 3 days.

Key Messages:

1. Ongoing catastrophic and life-threatening flooding will continue across southeastern Texas. Additional rainfall accumulations of 6 to 12 inches are expected across the upper Texas coast into southwestern Louisiana, with isolated storm totals as high as 50 inches. Please heed the advice of local officials.

2. The flood threat has spread farther east, and additional rainfall amounts of 5 to 10 inches are expected in southern Louisiana into coastal Mississippi and Alabama.
- Major roadways and freeways across the greater Houston area remain flooded or otherwise obstructed. (Read more)

1. Trump, in Texas, Calls Harvey Recovery Response Effort a 'Real Team' - New York Times

President Trump traveled to storm-brushed Corpus Christi, Tex., on Tuesday to survey some of the damage caused by Tropical Storm Harvey and demonstrate his personal commitment to a region still in the grips of a historic natural disaster.

Mr. Trump, who pushed aides to schedule a trip to Texas as early as possible after Harvey made landfall there on Friday night, settled on visiting Corpus Christi because it was the closest he could get to the hardest-hit areas without disrupting recovery efforts, according to state officials. The port city of 325,000 is 30 miles from the most severely affected parts of the Gulf Coast, and suffered relatively light damage from the initial impact of the storm. (Read more)

Go here.

- Father God, according to one news report, one young woman who greeted the President when he arrived yesterday in Corpus Christi, said: "I'm so grateful that we have a president that supports all those organizations and gets things rolling before we even have the storm." Father, we echo these words before You, thanking You once again for bringing us a president who knows what he is doing, amen.

- "Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises!"

An Urgent Prayer Request

An Urgent Prayer Request

"Pray that grocery stores will be opened and full. They have been closed for 4 days (may be more) and come against price gouging for food and gas. The shelves were empty in stores before the storm and the one or two stores opened in my sister's area (northwest Houston) have waits of about an hour with hardly anything on shelves. Thank all of you for your prayers."

Pastor Regina Brent
Houston, Texas

- Father God, we do lift this desperate need before Your Throne of Grace, asking that You would move quickly so that these shelves may be full again. Thank You, Lord, amen.

- "Nothing is too difficult for Thee!" (Jeremiah 32:17)

Thought for the Day . . .

Thought for the Day . . .

As we wend our way through these exceedingly perilous times, it's important to do two things: recognize the reality, and at the same time remember the joy of your salvation. Laughter is good like a medicine, the Word tells us.

"Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; though the flock be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls -- Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation." (Habakkuk 3:17,18)
No matter what we must face, we are the chosen, the beloved of the Most High God - The Only One True Living God. He is our shield no matter what happens. The hatred of the world is real - that's the reality of living on the earth. But the reality of Heaven is greater - and His love makes a mockery of anything they can bring against us.

So REJOICE! Your names are written in the Book of Life - and if you don't know that for certain, please get hold of someone (or us) who can let you know that God's love is powerful and His forgiveness washes everything away. Love, Faye

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
Friends may participate by receiving our daily prayer alerts. You may contact us at chpp1994@gmail.com for more information. CHPP is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt ministry. Thank you and God bless you!
