1. Israel said bracing for Palestinian reaction to Trump's Jerusalem decision - Times of Israel

Defense officials are reportedly bracing for violent protests and terror attacks should the Trump administration recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital or move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to the city.

The Israel Police, the Shin Bet security service, and the IDF's Central Command have held meetings in recent days to review possible scenarios in the event US President Donald Trump follows through on his reported intention to change America's policy on the capital, the Hebrew daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported Tuesday.

2. Erdogan says Turkey could sever ties with Israel if Trump recognizes capital - Times of Israel

The status of Jerusalem is a "red line" for Muslims and changing it could prompt Turkey to cut its ties with Israel, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned Tuesday, as US President Donald Trump reportedly geared up to recognize the city as the Jewish state's capital.

Erdogan said Turkey, which currently holds the chairmanship of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, would immediately call a summit meeting of the pan-Islamic group if Trump went ahead with the move on Wednesday, and "set the entire Islamic world in motion."

3. Palestinians threaten '3 days of rage' in response to US embassy move - World Israel News

Palestinian "national and Islamic forces" declared "three days of rage" beginning Wednesday and lasting through Friday on the heels of announcements that President Donald Trump had spoken with Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas regarding the US' intention to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the Jewish state and to move the US embassy there, according to various media sources.

The Palestinian factions that issued the statement inciting these "days of rage" referred to President Trump's policy as "political blackmail, which would destroy his ability to achieve regional or colonialist achievements in the region," reported the Jerusalem Post.

4. Corruption scandal surrounding Netanyahu's close ally widens - World Israel News

Police detained four people for questioning Monday, including a senior official at the Tel Aviv municipality as part of a widening investigation into corruption allegations in the city of Rishon Lezion.

Likud Whip David Bitan, a former deputy mayor of Rishon, and the current mayor of the city, Dov Tzur, were among 17 people questioned Sunday in the affair. Bitan, who has denied any wrongdoing, is suspected of accepting bribes while serving as the head of the Rishon Lezion city planning committee from 2008-2013, allegedly to settle NIS 7 million in personal debts incurred while Bitan served as chairman of the local Ironi Rishon soccer team.

5. War on Israel's Northern Border Possibly 'Weeks' Away, Says Ambassador Dermer - Algemeiner

JNS.org - A war along Israel's northern border could be just "weeks" away, according to Israeli Ambassador to the US Ron Dermer.

Dermer made the comments in a wide-ranging interview published by Politico on Monday, stating that the probability of direct conflict with the Iranian terror proxy Hezbollah is "higher than people think because of Iran's continued push through the region."

"If Iran is not rolled back in Syria, then the chances of military confrontation are growing," Dermer said. "I don't want to tell you by the year or by the month. I'd say even by the week."

The ambassador explained that as Iran continues to aggressively expand its military presence near Israel's border, the Jewish state is forced to enforce its "red lines," which risks an escalation in tension.

The Daily Brief

1. Trump to recognize Jerusalem, order embassy move- Israel National News

Senior U.S. administration officials said in a briefing with reporters on Tuesday night that President Donald Trump will announced in a speech on Wednesday that he has decided not only to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in honor of Israel's 70th Independence Day, but has also ordered to start the process of moving the American embassy to Jerusalem.

"The president will say that the United States recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel - it is recognition of the historical reality that Jerusalem has been the center of Jewish faith for thousands of years, and the reality today in which the government ministries, the Supreme Court and the central authorities are all located in the capital of Israel - Jerusalem," the officials said.

"The second statement [in the speech] will be that the president ordered the State Department to begin the process of moving the embassy from its present location in Tel Aviv to a new location in Jerusalem," they continued.

It is important to stress, however, that Trump intends to sign the waiver that postpones the embassy move for another six months. "The president will continue to sign the waiver every six months, until the final stages of the moving process," noted the senior administration officials.

They stressed that this will be a long process. "It does not mean that it will happen tomorrow. It's a long-term move to find a new place, prepare it and build the right structure. It's a long process. The president will not specify times - but in order to clarify expectations - it's a matter of years, not months." (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we humbly come before Your throne and ask Your hand of protection over President Trump and all of Israel regarding this pending announcement. We ask You to release angelic protection to surround the borders. We pray that any force of the enemy that plans to retaliate be stopped completely. We pray for the peace of Jerusalem and all of Israel. In the name of Yeshua, amen.

- "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May they prosper who love you." (Psalm 122:6)

2. Security forces on high alert ahead of possible Jerusalem declaration -YNET News

The defense establishment is preparing for a possible violent Palestinian outburst in Israel, primarily in Jerusalem, following reports that US President Donald Trump may recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital or announce a decision to move the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

The US administration has instructed its consulates and embassies in the Middle East to raise their alert level for fear of protests against American institutions.

Police, Shin Bet and Central Command officials have been meeting in recent days to evaluate the situation and prepare for a wave of riots and terror attacks, which could be similar to the attacks that took place following the decision to place metal detectors at the Temple Mount in July. (Read more)

- Abba, we ask You to release the Peace of Jesus over all of Israel. We pray that there would be no riots, no violence, no attacks at all in retaliation of an announcement of the embassy moving to Jerusalem. We pray for Your will to be done on earth, in Israel, and in Jerusalem as it is in Heaven. In Jesus' name, amen.

- "Then David said to the Philistine, "You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied." (1 Samuel 17:45)

3. Trump predicts swift action by House-Senate conferees on tax-cut plan - Washington Times

Hosting a group of Republican senators at the White House, President Trump said Tuesday that he and the GOP lawmakers are "all on the same page" as Congress races to complete tax-cut legislation before Christmas. "There's a great spirit in the Republican Party like I've never seen before - like a lot of people said they have never seen before," Mr. Trump told reporters. "We're all on the same page. I think something is going to be coming out of conference pretty quickly as opposed to long term."

The Senate approved the $1.4 trillion tax-cut plan on Saturday; the legislation now moves to a House-Senate conference committee. Mr. Trump referred to his lunch guests, who included frequent Trump critic Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona, as "this wonderful group of Republican senators." Also attending the luncheon were Republican Sens. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, Joni Ernst of Iowa, Deb Fischer of Nebraska, Cory Gardner of Colorado and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. Administration officials included U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn, Legislative Director Marc Short and White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly. (Read more)

- Father, we pray the conference committee completes their work quickly so the House and Senate can pass the final "Tax Cuts and Jobs Act" before Christmas.

- "He will give great courage to their warriors who stand at the gates." (Isaiah 28:6b)

4. House approves more overtime pay for Secret Service to protect Trump - NY Post

The House of Representatives passed a bill to raise overtime limits for the Secret Service - as the agency is reportedly cash-strapped from protecting President Trump's large family. The House voted overwhelmingly to pass the bipartisan Secret Service Recruitment and Retention Act of 2017 - which temporarily raises the salary and overtime cap for agents, according to Syracuse.com. Maximum salary plus overtime has been increased from $161,900 to $187,000.

The increase was voted on after Secret Service Director Randolph "Tex" Alles warned during an August interview with USA Today that more than 1,000 agents have already hit their annual federally mandated cap. Alles said the agency must protect Trump - who frequently travels on weekend - and his adult children who regularly travel overseas. Rep. John Katko (R-N.Y.), who authored the bipartisan legislation, said that the lower pay caps have hurt the Secret Service and has led to recruitment challenges. "This agency has struggled to improve employee morale in recent years, due, in large part, to strict overtime pay caps that prevent adequate compensation for their work," he said. (Read more)

- Father, we thank You for our Secret Service agents and pray they will have all the resources needed to do their jobs effectively.

- Form a bodyguard around the king and keep your weapons in hand. Kill anyone who tries to break through. Stay with the king wherever he goes. (2 Kings 11:8)

5. Conyers announces retirement, endorses son to succeed him - Fox News

Rep. John Conyers on Tuesday announced his retirement from Congress while at a Michigan hospital, saying he is endorsing his son, John Conyers III, for the seat he has held for more than a half century amid growing sexual-misconduct allegations. "I'm retiring today," the 88-year-old Michigan Democrat said in a phone interview with a local radio station from a Detroit hospital, where he has been since last month after experiencing chest pains. "I want everyone to know how much I appreciate [their] support."

Conyers, the longest-serving congressman, made the decision two weeks after sexual harassment allegations first surfaced and after returning last week to his Detroit-area district to discuss his political future with family and advisers. Conyers' endorsement of his son was unexpected, considering his great-nephew, Ian Conyers, a Michigan state senator, said earlier that Conyers would not seek re-election in 2018, instead of retiring, and that he would run for the open seat.

The Constitution does not allow for appointments to the House. So while Conyers has endorsed his son for the seat, the process begins with the Michigan Democratic Party through its nomination process .Then voters decide in either a special election or the 2018 congressional elections. (Read more)

- Father, we pray fresh, new representation for Michigan's 13th congressional district. Raise up a true son or daughter who will serve You and the people of Michigan well.

- For promotion and power come from nowhere on earth, but only from God. He promotes one and deposes another. (Psalm 75:7)

6. CIA Director Pompeo: Trump's Tweeting Has Actually Helped Us - PJ Media

The mainstream media's usual hand-wringing about President Trump's Twitter habit morphed into hyperventilation last week after he shared several "unverified" tweets about terrorism, but the director of the Central Intelligence Agency surprisingly doesn't have a problem with it. CIA Director Mike Pompeo said at a national security event in Simi Valley, California, over the weekend that Trump's tweeting has actually yielded helpful intelligence. The current CIA director sat down with former CIA director Leon Panetta and Fox News host Brett Baier for an hour of discussion on world events from a security perspective at The Reagan National Defense Forum on Saturday.

Baier brought up Trump's tweets about the Muslim videos and asked Panetta why he thought "it was like playing with fire." "When you tweet something like that out there you don't know what the consequences are going to be, and the consequences could be lives," Panetta replied solemnly. Baier turned to Pompeo: "One account on Twitter makes your job harder?" he asked.

The CIA director's answer was almost certainly not what the host expected. "No, I don't know that that's the case," he replied. "I've actually seen it help us. I have seen things the president has put on his Twitter account actually have a real-world impact on our capacity to understand what's going on in other places of the world," Pompeo said. "That is, our adversaries responded to those tweets in ways that were helpful to us to understand command and control issues, who's listening to what messages, how those messages are resonating around the world," he added. Panetta seemed taken aback by Pompeo's answer. (Read more)

- Father, we pray all our intelligence agencies will see President Trump's provocative texts as opportunities that reveal our true enemies.

- "The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve." (Jeremiah 17:9-10)

7. White House knocks down report Mueller subpoenaed Trump's Deutsche Bank records - Washington Times

The White House on Tuesday refuted reports that special counsel Robert Mueller asked Germany's Deutsche Bank to surrender President Donald Trump's banking records. Jay Sekulow, one of Mr. Trump's attorneys, dismissed Tuesday's report by the German business newspaper Handelsblatt, which said Mr. Trump's largest lender had received a subpoena several weeks ago from Mr. Mueller seeking Trump account data. "No subpoena has been issued or received," Mr. Sekulow said. "We have confirmed this with the bank and other sources."

While Deutsche Bank had not commented on the matter late Tuesday, Bloomberg was reporting that the firm was cooperating with investigators without specifically naming the Trump case. White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said both stories are "completely false." The former FBI director's probe is scrutinizing alleged attempts by the Kremlin to influence the 2016 presidential election in addition to probing possible collusion between Mr. Trump's campaign and Moscow, which both side have repeatedly denied. - Father, we pray our media will sort out unconfirmed facts and incorrect information before running misleading articles.

- "A wicked messenger brings nothing but trouble, but a trustworthy one makes everything right." (Proverbs 13:17)

8. Top Investigator on Mueller's Team Extolled Yates for Defying Trump Travel Ban - Washington Free Beacon

A top lieutenant to Special Counsel Robert Mueller in his investigation into the Trump campaign's possible ties to Russia expressed his opposition to an early policy priority of President Donald Trump's by praising then-acting Attorney General Sally Yates for refusing to enforce Trump's travel ban. Andrew Weissmann served as the chief of the Justice Department's Criminal Fraud Section earlier this year and went on to become a top investigator on Mueller's team of prosecutors.

Weissmann sent an email in January, when he was still in his criminal fraud section role, to former acting Attorney General Sally Yates applauding her for her refusal to enforce Trump's temporary travel ban on people entering the United States from several predominantly Muslim countries. Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said the findings clearly demonstrate Weissmann's anti-Trump bias and said the Mueller investigation has been "irredeemably compromised." Weismann also oversaw the pre-dawn raid of former Trump campaign aide Paul Manafort, according to the report. "This is an astonishing and disturbing find," Fitton said Tuesday. "Andrew Weissmann, a key prosecutor on Robert Mueller's team, praised Obama DOJ holdover Sally Yates after she lawlessly thwarted President Trump. How much evidence do we need that the Mueller operation has been irredeemable compromised by anti-Trump partisans? Shut it down." (Read more)

- Father, we pray men and women who undermine and refuse to submit to President Trump's authority will be permanently removed from federal employment.

- Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. (Romans 13:1)

9. Dow hits record as investors bet on tax cuts - Reuters

The Dow Jones Industrial Average reached a record high on Monday, with banks and retailers surging and technology companies falling as investors realigned their portfolios in hopes of benefiting from expected corporate tax cuts. Once the Senate and House of Representatives reconcile their respective versions of the legislation, the resulting bill could cut corporate tax rates to 20 percent from 35 percent. "It will likely result in increased dividends and share repurchases, and that makes valuations more reasonable and should prolong the rally," said Tim Ghriskey, chief investment officer of Solaris Group in Bedford Hills, New York.

Investors freed up money to buy banks, department stores and other stocks seen benefiting from lower taxes by selling technology stocks, which have become relatively expensive after leading the market's gains this year. "People are rotating into consumer discretionary and away from technology because of tax advantages from the new bill," said Michael Matousek, head trader at U.S. Global Investors Inc in San Antonio, Texas. Also lifting financial stocks was a broad expectation that the Federal Reserve will increase interest rates in December, which makes bank lending more profitable.

The S&P 500 is up 18 percent in 2017 on strong corporate earnings and solid economic growth, as well as expectations that President Donald Trump and the Republican-controlled Congress would cut taxes and corporate regulation. (Read more)

- Father, we are already seeing how our economy is ready to expand with opportunity and wealth creation. We pray the final tax bill will unleash this vast potential.

- "Now I will relieve your shoulder of its burden; I will free your hands from their heavy tasks." (Psalm 81:6)

10. 'Out of control' Southern California fire explodes as growing blazes force tens of thousands to flee - Washington Post

California fires: Thousands forced to evacuate as growing fires threaten Ventura, Santa Paula and Los Angeles

Fast moving wildfire engulfed an estimated 25,000 acres in less than seven hours in Southern California's Santa Barbara and Ventura counties on Dec. 5.

Firefighters in multiple locations in the region battled fires that were spurred on, officials said, by dry and windy conditions, including in Ventura County, where the Thomas Fire burned more than 50,000 acres, and on the outskirts of Los Angeles County, where the Creek Fire enveloped more than 11,000 acres north of the city's downtown. Another fire in the county, dubbed the Rye Fire, had cut through 5,000 acres near the city of Santa Clarita by Tuesday evening.

Authorities issued ominous warnings of more dangers to come during a "multiday event" across the area, as weather forecasters said the region faces "extreme fire danger" through at least Thursday because of intense Santa Ana winds and low humidity that could cause the fires to grow rapidly. (Read more)

- Father God, we lift up this conflagration before Your Throne of Grace, asking for mercy to visit these people. In Your Name, we command the Santa Ana winds to subside, and we lift up all who are fighting these fires that they might be strengthened by Your mighty hand as they do so. In Your name, amen.

- "Even the wind and the waves obey Him!" (Matthew 8:27)

Sea change in immigration policy

There is a verse in the Jeremiah 51 that says, "Surely I will fill thee with men, as with locusts, and they shall lift up a battle cry against you." This is about Babylon falling to invaders as judgment for how Babylon treated God's people. Today, the United States faces a similar situation as did Babylon-invaders who will lift a battle cry against us. It is a self-inflicted condition because of past presidents allowing immigration and even colonization of our country by those who would violently overthrow it. All in the name of political correctness, even the false narrative that Islam is the religion of peace-basically the most violent religion known to mankind. That is all changing under the current President.

There are several actions that President Donald Trump has taken to curb the security of threats to America that the immediate past "president" actually encouraged and aggressively aided. First, Trump issued a temporary ban on immigration from countries known to be violent threats to America. The Democratic Party and its emissaries in the lower courts, of course, opposed this. On Monday, the Supreme Court put an end to this nonsense that questioned the President's authority to protect the nation from malevolent people. The Court by a 7-2 margin (leftist justices Ginsberg and Sotomayor dissented) stayed the lower courts injunction against Trump's "travel ban" pending the appeals process.

Trump also pulled out of a major United Nations New York Declarations of Refugees and Migrants, which called for encouraging refugees and migrants to relocate to other countries, and included language that the host nations should provide them homes, income and education. It was a global governance pact of international migration. UN Ambassador Nikki Haley said, "...our decisions on immigration policies must always be made by Americans and Americans alone. We will decide how best to control our borders and who will be allowed to enter our country. The global approach in the New York Declaration is simply not compatible with U.S. sovereignty."

The Bible also says in Leviticus 24:22 and in several other places, "You shall have one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country." We are not to treat sojourners poorly or unfairly. Ambassador Haley emphasized this Biblical principal in pulling out of the UN accord, "America is proud of our immigrant heritage and our long-standing moral leadership in providing support to migrant and refugee populations across the globe. No country has done more than the United States, and our generosity will continue." But there is a balance required in navigating the rough waters of treating strangers well, legal entry, and national security. It has been out of balance during the past decade. A sea change is occurring now. May we regain our balance.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Classic Hymns

ABIDE WITH ME

"They urged Him strongly, 'Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.'" (Luke 24:29)

Lyrics
Abide with me; fast falls the eventide; The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide. When other helpers fail and comforts flee, Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day; Earth's joys grow dim; its glories pass away; Change and decay in all around I see; O Thou who changest not, abide with me.

Not a brief glance I beg, a passing word; But as Thou dwell'st with Thy disciples, Lord, Familiar, condescending, patient, free. Come not to sojourn, but abide with me.

Come not in terrors, as the King of kings, But kind and good, with healing in Thy wings, Tears for all woes, a heart for every plea- Come, Friend of sinners, and thus bide with me.

Thou on my head in early youth didst smile; And, though rebellious and perverse meanwhile, Thou hast not left me, oft as I left Thee, On to the close, O Lord, abide with me.

I need Thy presence every passing hour. What but Thy grace can foil the tempter's power? Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be? Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.

I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless; Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness. Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory? I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.

Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes; Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies. Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee; In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

About the Author:

Words: Henry Francis Lyte, 1847

Melody: William H. Monk, 1861

About the Hymn:

Abide With Me is a well-known Christian hymn composed by Henry Francis Lyte in 1847, though the lyrics are usually sung to William Henry Monk's melody Eventide rather than Lyte's original music. It is popular across many denominations, and was said to be a favourite of King George V and Mahatma Gandhi. It was sung at both the wedding of King George VI and that of his daughter, who would go on to become Queen Elizabeth II. Since 1927 it has been sung before the kick-off at the FA Cup Final and Challenge Cup Final. It is also often sung at Christian funerals.

Lyte wrote the words to his poem while he lay dying from tuberculosis, and lived only three weeks after its completion.

Southern California fire is 'out of control,' forcing thousands to evacuate

Pushed by powerful Santa Ana winds, a fire spread with explosive speed to more than 30,000 acres Monday night and early Tuesday in Southern California's Ventura County, destroying dozens of buildings and forcing thousands to evacuate in the dark.

The fire began north of Santa Paula on Monday evening and spread into the edges of Ventura, a city of more than 100,000 people situated on the Pacific coast, the county sheriff's office said.

The fast-moving fire forced sheriff's deputies to scramble into neighborhoods and knock on doors to warn residents to evacuate.

By early Tuesday the fire had burned 31,000 acres in nine hours -- covering an area more than twice the size of Manhattan at a rate of nearly an acre per second. (CNN) Read more.

'God Won': Doctor Fired for Pro-Life Stance Wins Major Court Case in Norway

(Skien, Norway)- [LifeSiteNews.com] Last week, a Norwegian court sided with Katarzyna Jachimowicz, the physician from Poland who lost her job for objecting to inserting intrauterine devices (IUDs).

In 2016, she became the first medical professional in Norway sacked for exercising her conscience rights. On November 24, the appellate court ruled that her firing had been a violation of human rights.

Jachimowicz sued because she felt her rights were violated and that her dismissal by the state-run health care system was illegal. The court of appeals in Skien agreed with her and reversed the previous decision by the court in Notodden. The appellate court ruled her employer, the municipality of Sauherad, had to pay her 600,000 Norwegian Krone (about $73,000) in legal fees.

"God won," Jachimowicz told the Polish Catholic magazine gosc.pl. She quoted famous Polish king John Sobieski III, who said "Veni, vidi, Deus vicit!" ("I came, I saw, God conquered") after his victory in the Battle of Vienna against the Ottoman Turks.

Just as Sobieski's battle was a turning point in history, Jachimowicz's case is a landmark in Norway, marking the country's first legal victory for freedom of conscience.
